Cynthia, was there a moment where all the leaves and stems started to droop? Because when i put my plant out for the 1st time in a non-direct sun spot on my balcony, everything started to droop after about 2hrs. I dont get it
@deansnipah1392 they only time mine will wilt is if it's bone dry. Make sure to give it plenty of water especially in this heat. I have to water mine twice a day now. I don't keep it in direct sun for long either. I move my containers to the shade. I get a cross breeze and it can beat the plant up pretty good so I move them when needed. I accidentally left them out in the winter and there was ice all over them. I cut them back to the ground watered them good and they bounced back, but I'm in Texas so winter for us is not as severe. One of the most important things is good potting soil. I swear by Miracle Grow potting soil. They also make a version for plants and trees that I use for anything I put in the ground. Have you repotted your plant to a bigger container yet? Sorry this is so long. Lol 😆
I don't see it as a con. Most of us know that when we buy plants they will probably not thrive and look gorgeous. But it makes it more of a challenge to keep on trying to bring our plants to the best that we can, and great to get some good advice and the blessing of RUclips!!

Thank you. Thanks to your videos I am able to correct all my mistakes and keep my plants alive! I am a serial over waterer unfortunately... but am learning... I was able to make 3 plants out of my over crowded poor lily. I fed her too so now I hope to start to see flowers soon! Thank you again.
@@SheffieldMadePlants I also think there is too much sun by the window it is at and it has some leaves that are brown (burning I think!?) so now I will make sure it does not get direct sun. I have it by a South facing window but this is a bit tropical here the climate, I am afraid it may be too much. What do you think?
Yup, sun light is so important. My peace lily only flower the year I brought it home, after that I kept it in my living room which doesn't get much sunlight and it stopped flowering for about 2 years. This year I moved it closer to the window, after 3 months I saw flower!! not just one flower but it continue to have new flower for probably 3 months :)
Good to hear. But I've one doubt, does this plant need more sunlight? Because my plant was good when I bought but after I placed it near a window, the next day all the leaves were dropped. I felt so sad. Can you guess the reason for it?
chopping up banana peel is a great tip ( but what about banana peel tea ) put banana peel in a glass jar, top it up with water.. let it soak for 2 days.. and drain the jar, throw the peel over the fence in your neighbours garden, use the "tea" in a 50/50 with rainwater to feed your Peace lily's. ( or other plants ) 😇
Mine bloom all the time. I put them near a window where they get about 2 hours of direct sunlight. They're much happier there & grow like crazy. I soak banana peels in the water I give them. The only downside is the flowers put off a ton of white pollen that gets everywhere so I'm always having to wipe off the leaves. It looks like someone sprinkled baby powder on them.
Hmm, I have two peace lily's in two locations. I have one small one on my western window cill which gets 8 hours of direct afternoon light in the summer and that's only bloomed twice for me this year, and I have a slightly larger one on my old TV just a bit away and that's only given me 1 flower, and even then it still has yet to open. And I'm pretty sure all of them turned green within the first week of having them, so uh...? They are split off of a plant that died from root rot, so maybe they're still recovering but it does make me a little sad. Before the root rot, the entire plant was on my window cill and it gave me a lot of blooms even though it did originally burn. So I dunno, maybe it is just the root rot.
Upon recovering and adding to my plant collection of peace lilies and snake plants, I have notice a distinct improvement in the quality of my apartment air, especially when I wake up each morning. I am better rested and without mental fog because my brain is no longer deprived of oxygen when I sleep.
I just bought a beautiful peace lily from the greenhouse. I'm excited to see if I can get a bloom out of it this spring. It seems to be thriving where I placed it. I check the soil everyday and give it a spray mist twice a day. I've cut off the forced blooms that died. So far he looks fabulous 😍 This is my 2nd try on this plant. I think I've got it figured out.
I waited a whole yr and no bloom. I placed it near the window east facing light last week and poured banana juice and bingo it bloomed today. Delighted
I got a peace Lilly from my local Walmart it was in horrible state. Rotted roots, and sun burned leaves. I brought it home and cut all the burned parts off. Took away all the rotted roots and put her in a gorgeous pot with fresh soil. She is finally big and pretty but not I need food for her. I wasn't aware of that. I'm not worried about her having tons of flowers. I just want her healthy and happy. My plants are my baby's.
The peace lily from my Great Grandfather's funeral back in 2006 still flowers to this day. No hormones have been used on it since my great grandmother brought it home from the funeral home.
My peace lilies are thriving on neglect with occasional watering and some slow release fertiliser pellets once a year. I’ve had 2 peace lily plants in my bathroom near a large opaque windows (bright indirect light in the afternoons). I’ve had them for 10+ years. One of them I’ve had for closer to 18 years. My largest plant has just started to flower again (as we head into winter in a cold temperate Australian climate.) My bathroom will definitely get to temperatures that are lower than 10 degrees over night and we get summer temperatures that are in the mid 30s.
I have one sitting in a shower that is not used regularly and it does very well. It gets Seasol every now and then but no rule to when I do this. It is at least 4 times larger that the lily outside. Fills the whole shower cubicle and yes it does flower well. The window is on the south side of the house with an opaque window.
You don't need to put a water meter in a Peace Lily. Just water it as soon as it droops. If it droops every 7 days you can water it every 6 days to prevent drooping.
I saw a video just yesterday showing how you take one aloe vera leaf, blend it with 2 liters of water, strain it, and use it to water all your plants and it is supposed to make them all bloom like crazy.
Hi. I have several pots of peace lilies in my garden but they are outdoors under my bamboo grove. They are not in direct sunlight and they flower enough. I think its because they like our weather here in the tropics more. I don't use hormones and I don't fertilize them frequently. They bloom though during march to August more because that's our summer and rainy season. Maybe it depends on the region. Not using magic too 😊.
I have had my peace lily for over 10 years now, every couple of years I thin it out and re- pot it, it flows just once a year, but that's okay as I love the green it adds to my room.
Mine flowers from Nov till June as winters are very mild but stops in summer as the heat is too much so that is when the challenge starts. Very nice plant and the effort is Worthed. Love your channel Well done !
I have a few of them and love them. They seem to grow well for me and flower. They don’t get heaps of light but they do well. Thank you for the feeding tip. I don’t think I’m feeding mine enough :)
I just brought your moisture meter on Amazon, as thats one area that l have trouble with whether the plants are getting not enough or enough water as l have a peace lily, so thanks for the tip love from Australia 🇦🇺
I moved two small ones from a pot, as they were not doing well, to my tropical fish tank. There roots are suspended in the water and the plants are already growing new leaves, and looking very healthy.
My peace lily is in water , only. The leaves were burning outside. I brought them back in the house, and changed the tap water to distilled water. They are growing new shoots and look bright and happy.
Omg I never knew they force the plant for sales . I bought one these from ikea with 2 flowers it has 5 heads now but I love the foliage. I keep mine in my porch window
I have almost gotten my peace lily to bloom. I gave me a few smallish, not very white flowers once or twice in about a year and half of owning it. Now I will have to be more careful with temperature. My best indirect light spot is in between two exterior doors, unfortunately, every time someone comes or goes, it lets the draft hit those plants that are right there. That's where I've had it for some time, but I think I can arrange it to be about two meters from an east facing window this spring.
Thanks for the tips... I have a collection of 'fussy plants' so what's one more? 😂 I finally bought my peace lily inside as it was getting too much sun on my patio. Now indoors where it has good light. I'm in Australia so my plant faces west and south, though I do have to draw the curtains if the sun is too strong. I got 8 flowers this season - yay! I like the comments and will try the banana peel trick (they grow well here) and the aloe Vera trick - I have a bunch of those. Thanks for your channel. Much appreciated ✅ looking forward to the next installment 🇦🇺
I also live in a semi tropical area of Australia & my Peace lily does fine, however, always check the soil constantly, if we have a lot of rain, I move it into the car port area.
That sounds right and its not a con, i have bought the Peace lily and the flowers never came back. I over compensated by watering it too much and killing the whole plant eventually. I didn't know about the Gibberellic acid.
It takes patience and right conditions to keep a happy plant. We all make watering mistakes and have a learning curve. The plant uses up the minerals , and it needs new soil for the pot.
Multi vitamins have nutrients that plants and humans need. I will let you know how the experiment goes. One Pease Lilly with and one without. You got me going.Stay tuned. Lol😆🤗
I've had two for over thirty years,a big one and a small one.The small one blooms every year starting in Feb.as it is doing now (Fdb.15th)and It usually gives me about 6 or 7 blooms a year, the big one has only bloomed twice,
Great video, thanks. Have always been very lucky wit peace lily plants, have 03 now one of which has 05 flowers about to pop out any day now, more than usual that. 02 are in a south facing room, my 'office' so I grabbed the tape measure to check how far away from the window they were as per your advice, they are within the correct range🙂either side of the window. Other is in a north facing room but still gets plenty of flowers, not as many as other 02. I live further north in England than you (Sheffield?) so not great heat and light. They do however, sometimes get brown tips and have no idea why, will have to look at more of your other vieos. Thank you so much for information here and in other episodes I have watched. The root pruning looks brutal though 🙂
Someone told me a trick to get them to flowering (given the conditions are right and the plant is otherwise healthy): Stress the plant a bit by ripping (yes, sounds brutal) a leaf or two off it. Somehow the plant reacts to that by producing flowers. I'm guessing the stress induces the plant to send out growth hormones. I do it every once in a while and it seems to work.
The anthurium plants respond well by producing more flowers to cutting off it's leaves I was wondering if peace Lilly does that as well. Thanks for the tip, I'll try on a few.
I found a plant on top of someone's garbage and I didn't know what kind of plant it was until today. I have been moving it around my yard trying to keep the leaves from turning brown. I got one flower yesterday. I think I have been giving it too much water. I also think it's ready for a slightly larger pot.
I love this channel. I'm learning so much in a short time. Straight to the point and informative. Thank you so much! Also, can I just cut off just the brown part of the leaf?
I made a timelapse of this plant after watering, see my channel without obligation of course, it's great fun to see how the leaves rise, so in the summer time make sure the plant gets enough water and I give the plant in the growing season also contains cow manure in granular form, all plants only receive a few granules at most twice a year. My spathiphyllum is barely 50cm from the window, I only have sunlight from the east as my window sill faces north, so the sun hits my window at an angle and disappears after an hour and that is just enough for all plants.
Get it into a 10 inch pot .. or larger .. DON'T WATER IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO WILT (If you're not sure if it's wilting, give it longer) Then, when you water it, it will pick up in a few hours This is the BEST way to ensure you never over water it
Thailand here. Mines been in the bright bathroom for a year now & no flowers. We tried outside but she burnt quickly so back in! It seems crowded in there so I’ll try to repot I think. Also, orchids! why are they $250 in Australia but $4 here?! Crazyyyyy ps is it true Lily’s can kill cats? Thank you 🙏🏻
I have a peace lily that is at least 7 years old, I first got it as a tiny baby with no flowers. It lived for years in my office and each year it would put up more and more flowers. This past spring there were 7 flowers at once. Then, suddenly this spring it decided to die. The ends of each leaf would start turning black until the entire leaf was rotted, yet it still kicked up new blooms month after month. Finally, I re-potted, changed the soil and checked the roots (they seemed fine but i trimmed them), but it just kept growing and dying at the same time. I did a final attempt to save it last week. There is one green leaf left from my huge plant that was once in a 10 inch pot this past spring. I still don't know if it will live. Nothing changed in the way I took care of the plant. I may have re-potted to a too large container once. I have my fingers crossed it will make a comeback

Very true!
I have a peace plant that is 4 years old and is huge. It was about 1 foot tall when I got it. I repotted it once since. I give it flowering plant food once a month and it blooms often. I get 8-9 blooms at once. It’s in a pot about 15”x 15” tall. Morning light in sunroom.
Hi can I ask what flowering plant food did you give it.
@@suecarey9127 just a liquid plant food , 10-10-10 .this one is calledBONIDE.
Any nursery would have or Lowe’s or Home Depot. Good for all flowering houseplants.❤️
Thank you
Thank you. Thanks to your videos I am able to correct all my mistakes and keep my plants alive! I am a serial over waterer unfortunately... but am learning... I was able to make 3 plants out of my over crowded poor lily. I fed her too so now I hope to start to see flowers soon! Thank you again.
My pleasure 😊
@@SheffieldMadePlants I also think there is too much sun by the window it is at and it has some leaves that are brown (burning I think!?) so now I will make sure it does not get direct sun. I have it by a South facing window but this is a bit tropical here the climate, I am afraid it may be too much. What do you think?
Thank you for the brief spot on tutorial on growing Peace Lily!🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching 😁
Yup, sun light is so important. My peace lily only flower the year I brought it home, after that I kept it in my living room which doesn't get much sunlight and it stopped flowering for about 2 years. This year I moved it closer to the window, after 3 months I saw flower!! not just one flower but it continue to have new flower for probably 3 months :)
Great stuff 👍
@@SheffieldMadePlants see
Good to hear. But I've one doubt, does this plant need more sunlight? Because my plant was good when I bought but after I placed it near a window, the next day all the leaves were dropped. I felt so sad. Can you guess the reason for it?
@@sharu6895 It just depends on your location !
chopping up banana peel is a great tip ( but what about banana peel tea ) put banana peel in a glass jar, top it up with water.. let it soak for 2 days.. and drain the jar, throw the peel over the fence in your neighbours garden, use the "tea" in a 50/50 with rainwater to feed your Peace lily's.
That stuff is a nuisance 😅
I just got one bloom. It’s beautiful. I was so happy
One’s all you need 😁
@@SheffieldMadePlants same today my first flower bloom still tiny but it was fun
Upon recovering and adding to my plant collection of peace lilies and snake plants, I have notice a distinct improvement in the quality of my apartment air, especially when I wake up each morning. I am better rested and without mental fog because my brain is no longer deprived of oxygen when I sleep.
Ty sir..I finally got my peace Lilly to flower for the first time!!
Awesome!
You've got this 👊
Very helpful and I'll be putting some of this wisdom to work tomorrow morning. Plus some in water to grow for fun. Love and Peace.
Ours flower all year round 😊
I waited a whole yr and no bloom. I placed it near the window east facing light last week and poured banana juice and bingo it bloomed today. Delighted
Great job!
Sounds like you’re doing right by her 👍
The peace lily from my Great Grandfather's funeral back in 2006 still flowers to this day. No hormones have been used on it since my great grandmother brought it home from the funeral home.
You must be treating it right 😁
@@SheffieldMadePlants it's all my great grandma! She's been caring for it since the funeral.
Basic plant question: when a plant is root bound, what happened to all the soil that the roots displaced? Love your videos. I like your delivery.
A mystery isn’t it 😂 I’ve not figured it out.
I think it slowly gets washed out during watering.
I'd assume it either gets washed out, or it degrades and eventually turn into micronutrients for the plant.
Nice, thanks for sharing 👍
I have one sitting in a shower that is not used regularly and it does very well. It gets Seasol every now and then but no rule to when I do this. It is at least 4 times larger that the lily outside. Fills the whole shower cubicle and yes it does flower well. The window is on the south side of the house with an opaque window.
Gibberellic Acid is even used in agriculture to stimulate growth. Just another type of fertilizer.
You don't need to put a water meter in a Peace Lily. Just water it as soon as it droops. If it droops every 7 days you can water it every 6 days to prevent drooping.
My late brother asked me to take care of his peace Lily. 2 yrs later and I've managed to keep it going strong on most days.😅 sorry Ze.

My has been blessing me with blooms ever scene I got it.
Nice!
YES! I have a 3y old Peace Lily, that didn't bloom since I bought it, I will try this hacks! Thanks!
Nice one!
My peace lily flowers once a year, most times just one flower, but now two are blooming 🎉
I have 2 Peace Lillies immersed in my Aquarium. They are doing fantastic and flowering. They receive 8 hours of artificial LED light a day .
Nice!
Just from normal LED bulbs ?
Thanks for the info. I was given a peace lily and the flowers died. Now, I’m proud to say, I have four new flowers.
Super 😁
I absolutely love the water meter. Thank you.
My pleasure 😊
I saw a video just yesterday showing how you take one aloe vera leaf, blend it with 2 liters of water, strain it, and use it to water all your plants and it is supposed to make them all bloom like crazy.
Interesting 🤔 I’ll look into that
It works %100 , tried it excellent
Sounds like an awesome spot 👌
I have had my peace lily for over 10 years now, every couple of years I thin it out and re- pot it, it flows just once a year, but that's okay as I love the green it adds to my room.
Definitely, it’s a nice foliage plant without the flowers
Mine flowers from Nov till June as winters are very mild but stops in summer as the heat is too much so that is when the challenge starts. Very nice plant and the effort is Worthed. Love your channel Well done !
Thanks for sharing
I have a few of them and love them. They seem to grow well for me and flower. They don’t get heaps of light but they do well. Thank you for the feeding tip. I don’t think I’m feeding mine enough :)
Thanks Kim.
Thank you for this video, just the help I was needing to resuscitate my peace lily 😁
Glad you found it useful Angela 👍
Thanks for the nice information. Now, I know why I didn't have flowers on my peace lilly.
You bet!
I just brought your moisture meter on Amazon, as thats one area that l have trouble with whether the plants are getting not enough or enough water as l have a peace lily, so thanks for the tip love from Australia 🇦🇺
Cool, glad you found it useful
Thanks for the video. These are great tips. We’ve had our peace lily for 3 years and haven’t seen flowers on it after the first month we bought it
Thanks for watching
I moved two small ones from a pot, as they were not doing well, to my tropical fish tank. There roots are suspended in the water and the plants are already growing new leaves, and looking very healthy.
They love a fish tank it seems
My peace lily is in water , only. The leaves were burning outside. I brought them back in the house, and changed the tap water to distilled water. They are growing new shoots and look bright and happy.
My peace lily is just throwing out its first flower. After about a year of having it. i got it as a tiny little plant no more the 50mm tall
Omg I never knew they force the plant for sales . I bought one these from ikea with 2 flowers it has 5 heads now but I love the foliage. I keep mine in my porch window
Thank you for clear and useful tips, easy to follow.
Glad it was helpful!
That’ll work 👍
Thanks for the tips...
Great stuff. 8 new flowers is pretty good for an indoor peace lily 👍
Thank you. I didn't throw mine out, I kept propagating them. I've had mine for a year and a half.
👍
I have peace lily, all year produce flowers, great informative videos thanks
Wonderful
This plant like out door - in shade.
Summer thru winter.
Thank you for all the info. My Peace Lily lives outside, but not blooming, obviously needs a
little more sun.
Glad you found it useful 👍
I also live in a semi tropical area of Australia & my Peace lily does fine, however, always check the soil constantly, if we have a lot of rain, I move it into the car port area.
Nice!

Love your plants collection ❤

That sounds right and its not a con, i have bought the Peace lily and the flowers never came back. I over compensated by watering it too much and killing the whole plant eventually. I didn't know about the Gibberellic acid.
Fair enough. Folks don’t understand why they don’t come back. Mostly needs time and patience
@@SheffieldMadePlants Absolutey, time and patience. It was one of the first house plants i bought years ago. Much more experienced now
It takes patience and right conditions to keep a happy plant.

Lol😆🤗
I've had two for over thirty years,a big one and a small one.The small one blooms every year starting in Feb.as it is doing now (Fdb.15th)and It usually gives me about 6 or 7 blooms a year, the big one has only bloomed twice,
Funny how they bloom differently. Are they in different spots in the house?

Thank you 😊. Mine gets brown tips too. It's just a part of life with this plant I think. Get chopping!
Giberellic acid is available online where I live - is it a healthy fertilizer to add in moderation or will it stress the plants?
I just bought a peace lily, its mid summer and flowering.. 😅 new plant parent here 🥴😅
Lovely
I followed your advice about a month ago regarding GA3. I wish I could post a photo of my peace Lily with 4 new blossoms. Thank you.

Can you advise on anthuriums which don't re bloom please ? Excellent channel ....no fillers just useful info. Cheers.
Thank you. Flowering plants that stop flowering is due to a lack of light normally
@@SheffieldMadePlants Thank you. I was wondering if hormone was used in a similar way to peace lilly ?
@@blackdog1392 it probably does but I’ve looked into re anthuriums
@@SheffieldMadePlants thanks again.
That’s a unique hack. Not heard that before 🤔
The anthurium plants respond well by producing more flowers to cutting off it's leaves I was wondering if peace Lilly does that as well. Thanks for the tip, I'll try on a few.
@@wkjjwj I heard that actually. Stressing the plant out makes it flower. Interesting idea
My peace Lilly just bloomed . Im in Newyork !
Cool 😎
“DARK ARTS” I laughed out pound 😂😂

I found a plant on top of someone's garbage and I didn't know what kind of plant it was until today. I have been moving it around my yard trying to keep the leaves from turning brown. I got one flower yesterday. I think I have been giving it too much water. I also think it's ready for a slightly larger pot.
I do feel conned now
Still a nice plant i guess
I love this channel. I'm learning so much in a short time. Straight to the point and informative. Thank you so much!
Also, can I just cut off just the brown part of the leaf?
Thank you 😊. Yes you can
Peace lillies can grow with roots on water such as a fish bowl or aquarium. Check it out.
👍
Yes, I have them growing in my
Sorry thick fingers. I have them growing in my aquariums and flowering.
Watched the vid. Was good
Get it into a 10 inch pot .. or larger ..
DON'T WATER IT UNTIL IT STARTS TO WILT (If you're not sure if it's wilting, give it longer)
Then, when you water it, it will pick up in a few hours
This is the BEST way to ensure you never over water it
Thank you
Fun fact: The petal is a modified leaf. The flowers are on the yellow stalk
Ooo thanks

Welcome aboard!
Fingers crossed 🤞
