A good set, it looks like much fun to play with. As always, a great review from Sariel! However, I believe the set is mainly overpriced because of the included powered up. Personally, I liked power functions MUCH more because of its versatile platform. Each component of power functions is separate (Motors, Ir receivers, battery boxes, and remote controls). This allows for children to understand how transmitters and revievers work, and how a power source is needed for the motors to work. Powered up is almost a “dumbed down” version of Power functions. Of course they tried to make it simpler by using bluetooth and controlled by an app, however users can experience frequent connection issues between the Hub and smart device. IMHO.
Happy holidays to everyone as well! And thanks to Sariel for all these reviews!

Santa's coming to town is an old song here is improved version:
    You collect your bricks,
    Start sorting them nice.
    Take models of shelves,
    And clean up all dust.
In Sariel's new reviews we trust!

You know what I like about this set? For the first time in a long time, Lego has made a Technic set that isn't trying to look like something - it was just a free idea out of someone's head, like the 90s or early 00s before the time when everything became exact replicas of something that actually existed (with the rare exception). Thank you Lego - more like this please!

I'm currently debating with myself whether I should get this set, or the 42095 RC Stunt Racer.
On one hand, I already have a PF medium motor and switch (and battery box obviously), so it would be cool to add more PF stuff to my collection.
On the other hand, this set has the new PU motors and box, which means better wireless control. It also has great pieces and tires, and is visually amazing. Only thing is, it costs a bit more.
I'm still so torn.. I plan on getting both eventually, but for now I only have the budget for one. Which would you recommend?

This set mixes the looks and designs of old sets with the new technology, GENIUS!

  • @WizardOfOss
    @WizardOfOss 3 года назад

I have to say: because of this video I want to unpack my old RC stuff (Associated RC10 & HPI RS4) and see if I can still get it to run :-)
I so have somewhat mixed feelings about this set though. As a kid from the '80's, I really like the looks, even when it indeed should have a much bigger wing, and as a 2wd buggy also narrow front tires. And for a Lego set, it does seem to drive pretty good. But that's the thing: for a Lego set. For less than half the price you can get a simple Nikko or Carrera buggy that runs circles around this, and also has a dedicated controller. For the same money, you can get something that is from a different planet. Of course this is Lego so you can use the parts to build something else, but this is hampered by the limitations of the Control+ system. And even Lego seems to think so, considering the lack of a B-model. So in the end: what's the point?

Dear Sariel, nice review, looping forward to test it myself 😬.
you do the giveaways to thank us but... we need to thank you! I’ve been on a Lego Technic’s pause for about 25 years: stopped when ! was a kid and rediscovered it now, during corona, while giving the first Lego Technic set to one of my kids. Thank god the corona virus didn’t spread in my family, but the Technic virus did spread. Since then I've been searching the web for ideas and possibilities and ! must say: many roads lead to you'. In every search I did, every blog I've read, I saw your name. Even the Belgian Lego clubs referred me to you. In the meantime I also purchased your book, with lots of helpful insights. With this post i just want to thank you for all your time and effort spend to help us discover and develop new things. And I know having just become a father will take away some time for your passion, but I can assure you: once your child grows up, you‘ll have lots of fun playing Duplo, Lego, Technics together 😏! Again a big thank you.| And even if we can't celebrate the end of year festivities with a lot of people, do know a bunch of Technics family is looking forward to the new year and new posts. Thanks for being so inspirational and helpful! Cheers!

This was a great review Sariel, and the set takes me back to my tamyia 2wd buggy I had when I was a kid!
My own thoughts on this set, is it will be great for young kids, and a cheap way to get into the RC hobby. The fact it can be modded, or the parts can be repurposed (being made of Lego) is a huge bonus
