My Filipina girlfriend runs my business online as a manager. We have been online together for 6 years. She is a very Godly person which I respect In any case we plan on living living and retiring together in the Philippines in the near future.

Hello Scott Cecile & Liam! In my experience with people where English is the second language (ESL), SE Asians have the basic mechanics of the language down, but the comprehension level is very limited. Especially with credit card companies/corporate businesses where a lot of jobs are outsourced; you can spend several hours on the phone and not get anything resolved or accomplished. Good contribution to the chat Cecile; gaining a lot of self-confidence. You guys have such a great dynamic! Interesting and worthwhile discussion from a couple of different perspectives! Be happy and healthy

I walk 10k a day in cebu city and most often the public market [carbon]. I encounter many local people and it's amazing how english speaking is a real challenge with many of the locals. ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; It kind of reminds me of how we in the usa have some basic spanish, but go to mexico and you realize you can't actually hold an actual conversation in spanish. So I would say the college educated have decent english and the uneducated have little to no english skills. Just my 1 peso's worth

Being white can be intimidating with many different cultures and ethnic groups, but when they see that you’re with a Filipino, then it’s like all the rules change. More with some than others, but many times my wife makes all the difference and sometimes it’s not just a slight difference in how you are received but completely opposite.
I was wearing a very nice suit in a mall because I had an interview and was meeting up with my wife and some friends in a mall afterwards. While I was waiting for my wife in the food court, one of the Hispanic worker seemed to give me an ugly sneer. Definitely. Then, a crowd of laughing Filipina women, descended on me. Suddenly, I have all of these crazy women hugging me and being funny. Later I saw the same Hispanic worker and he looked at me with the inverse attitude. The Filipina friends turned me from douche bag to super cool guy. Frankly, I just needed out of the suit.

When they speak their dialect just say to them nose bleed. I do that and they laugh at me with my wife's side of the family. Also when they say nose bleed I'll say does anyone have a tissue. I just like to have fun with them.
