    Yup. All of those you mentioned are on point - but we are still moving there. My husband and I both have SS benefits and pension but nowadays, with the inflation shooting off the roof we cannot afford to enjoy retirement here in the States and add to that the craziness that's going on here, we're bailing out. We're moving there in 5 weeks and can't wait to start living a laid-back, stress-free and idyllic life in the province. Thankfully, the Lord has blessed us both with good health. Interesting topic my friend, thanks. New subscriber here 🙂

    Good video Nelson. Flight time from Brisbane, Australia to Manila is about 8 hours (according to Phil Air) add 30 minutes if flying from Sydney. They are direct flights and of course cost more. The last couple of times, we flew Air Nuigini from Brisbane stopover in Port Moresby (PNG) then on to Manila. It's a full day, then of course you have to get to the island you are staying at, ours was San Carlos, Neg Occ. another good half day of travel. Cheers mate.

    Steak cuts are usually not in the regular market but it's actually not that hard to find them especially in the bigger islands like Luzon and Mindanao. It's harder to get beef on the smaller islands because there is no space to raise a big herd of cattle

    Imo, if possible, and I don’t know if my months are off here. If it was me (I’m a local but I’ve spent a few years in the US.. I’d avoid the winter and go to the Philippines.. then by summer in the Philippines I’d go back to the US for a few months and avoid the summer heat in the Phil.
    Is it 3k now? Last time I remember (prior to Covid) I booked a couple of time, maybe 3 times.. and round trip was 1300 to maybe 1600, that’s round trip. I was pretty close to New York so maybe inter state flight is one other factor.

    Hello Nelson,
    Yes there are other issues too but this video does cover several and the most important. I agree that having a complete physical before you come to the Philippines is very important and then work on the issues to improve your health. I would also go to the best clinic in your area and establish a relationship with a specialist if you have say a heart condition. Better to have a good specialist familiar with you before there are issues. It also allows you to get familiar with the medical system, etc. great video. Thanks and keep them coming.

    Not too sure about the ambulance comment, " everywhere and zip right to you" Phils doesn't have a nationwide phone number to call like USA 911.
    I live in Bacolod with my girl, and we talked about "what if" because I have heart issues, in this barangy they have an "ambulance", it's a van that does not include an EMT, just a driver and only if the "ambulance" is available, sometimes it is under maintenance for weeks, or the "driver" not available. If you have a serious accident and break a bunch of bones or need repertory assist, not happening, not radio ahead, don't expect pain relief from the "van" driver as he loads you up and rushes you off...

      Well..im confused...I see them every day here in San Pablo, Laguna, Luzon. I mean really, like 10 or more.a.day I see driving around. Is there something i have yet to know I wonder? Are they private use only "ambulances" or what? I see them everywhere. Hmmmm...research time.

    Who ever told you the flight from Manila to Australia is 5 hours.
    Manila to Perth is 7 hrs 45 minutes
    Manila to Melbourne 8 hrs 45 minutes plus you have day light savings between 2 hrs Perth and 3 hrs Eastern states.
    If you travel Melbourne to Manila stop over Singapore/Malaysia/Hong Kong or Guangzhou China the flight can take around 18 hours depending on stopover time.
    I visit Philippines 2 times a year on business and I prefer direct flight which cost anything around $ 1400 to 1600 depending time of the year by Cebu.

    One of the reasons why I chose Thailand over the Philippines (after leaving my teaching job in China) was the medical care. The reason I chose Bangkok was - the bookstore scene here. This is something not talked about frequently on vlogs. Usually vloggers here talk about dating, bar girls etc.

    After living here for 11 years full time and having our house here for 31 years with yearly trips here all those years. We are moving to Ocala fla in two years when I turn 68 and my wife will be 66. Mainly due to the poor health care facilities.. plus better roads better drivers and lots more choices of restaurants..Just a better deal for Seniors. We've seen way to many expats have health emergencies and they didn't plan well at their age.. poor planning and poor health doesn't mix well here in this country

      Sorta like New York City, but it's a 5th of the cost. The family support thing is overstated, it's your option for the most part and supporting them is usually about $50 a month, less than than a coffee each morning.

    I was in Cebu City. The doctors were pretty good, but even in their best hospital, there were dirty needles on the floor. Also the number of people waiting for the doctors was huge. The private hospitals in Bangkok are way better! I haven't been to Manila though.

    1. Why do we tend to compare a developed country to a developing country. It is known that the hub city provides all needs, but moving out of these centers will pose a problem. Medical care in states I'll name, Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia might not be any better than the Philippines.
    2. You are in a tropical paradise.
    3. Noise, go to thw following cities, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. etc. the noise drives you coo-coo
    In the rest, who cares, just enjoy the comforts🎉🎉🎉. You jest is well received, hard work produces good content.

    Philippines is made for Filipinos and America is made for Americans. Each of us has our own habitats. It is really hard to adjust in one place that you didn't use to live. Like me, I married to an American.When I first came here in the US, I felt homesick because I had no one to talk to when my husband is at work. The food I ate are all frozen and processed food which I didn't use to eat. I used to eat fresh food in the Philippines as alive fish, prawns and even vegetables and fruits. But I cannot complain. I chose to go with my husband because I love him very much and I need to adjust in order to work everything out including the culture.Yes, everything here in the US is comfortable because everything you need is here. But the simplicity of life, living in an affordable life and stress free is hard to find here in the US. Everything is expensive in the US right now. Including the taxes, hospital bills, and even the doctor's check up. And most of all, most of the people here are living in debt. You cannot live here in the US without debt.

    • @SouthPaths
      @SouthPaths  6 месяцев назад +1

      It's true in Canada too. Perhaps you could see if he would consider moving back to the Philippines at least to retire...your retirement would be much more affordable that way...more money you could offer the kids and lower costs for your selves...the entire family could benefit from a plan like that.

    We would like to know from you the following please:
    Will we lose our Canadian citizenship, and O.H.I.P. benefits if we live outside Canada for over 6 months every year?
    Could we possibly live abroad for over 6 months every year? If, yes...will my Canada pension, and O.A.S. pension, and income taxes be affected?
    Is there something that you feel we should know about retiring abroad for a period of 6 months every year or over?
    What are the penalties for living outside Canada ?

    • @SouthPaths
      @SouthPaths  7 месяцев назад

      Thankyou for your interest in this topic, I must decline from attempting a complete answer...this is as close as I can come to an answer...your citizenship pet say is not directly affected, however your inclusion to the Canadian health care system may be effected, also there will result some loss of retirement benefit if you do not revisit Canada often enough to maintain full retirement inclusion. To get full and complete answer to your questions you should visit the Canadian govt web pages that cover this subject. Further the requirements to maintain full .medical and retirement benefits should be throughly addressed before considering living overseas beyond 120 days at a time.

    The hospitals in the province area's are a total joke, they have no care except a bandaid. They are terrible, and even in Cebu, its not near as good as a American hospital. I know from experience, spending 1 week in Chong Hua, wait to get into emergency room over 1 hour, and my wife had to pay P150,000 before I could get in! They billed us every day, and wife had to go out to get any prescriptions. Chong Hua, is one of the best in Cebu, its ok, but no where like a USA hospital
