I love the way you broke down the design by putting together drawing cards like a puzzle. Keep those vlogs coming please.
Thank you! The paper drawings help us both :)
I came to the comments to say this. Awesome math skills.
before you added the sleeves you looked like an incredibly fashionable crossing guard
Hahaha
Why have I never thought to use paper to plan and cut out a crochet project? Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for sharing your process
Thank you!!
I enjoy watching the process. I hate watching videos where people crank out miles of crochet and everything fits right the first time and they never have gauge problems and I sit here with my ten thumbs, surrounded by snarls.... Whereas you do a sleeve, decide it's too round, do another sleeve, realize you added too many stitches, do another sleeve, then turn out an I Would Have Bought That In A Shop garment.
It gives me hope.
You are VERY good at this. You are such a natural on camera, your content is different and interesting, yet so calming at the same time, and your video quality/editing really is top notch. Best of all: Excellent cat. I think you'll go far on here.
That's like the nicest thing anyone can say, thank you! 🔥🥰glad you resonated with this side of me
Granny square (& also multicolor knit) crop tops & vests were popular when I was a teen in the 70's. It has been fun to see hand-knit & crochet designs trending again.
if you re into kpop at all... the stylists include a bit of crochet in their outfits for music videos. i have a lot of fun pausing to figure out if it s crochet or knitting xD
Ooh good idea! Thank you
youtube.com/@HenriPurnell?si=RA8jCtHMIFcpq3ve he makes music video's and crochets ❤
The Boyz MV ‘Lip Gloss’ has a lot of details and pieces in granny square crochet
It’s so much better than the original pattern! Redoing the sleeves was definitely worthy!
Thank you!
Romi I have been searching high and low for months on how to make this shirt and all the while I was trying to figure out how to reverse engineer it myself and just couldnt get it figured out. You've done it! I'm going to see if I can make this for myself later on. My hands are having a rest from crochet right now. Thank you so much for this video.
Glad I found you!
small tipp: if you start with half of a granny rectangle instad of half a square, you will get extra lenght at the bottom without adding the extra stripes. For that you would have to start with a vertical chain insted of a magic ring
@@harukastorm4 thank you, that's definitely a great option.
Super cool! I’m sure you don’t need the advice, but for pieces like the sleeve you could try mocking it up with a piece of fabric. When you get the right look, you can use your fabric as a template and crochet a piece to match, then attach it to the body.
I started off not really liking the design but wow....the finished garment is awesome and it totally suits you!! 🤩
Thank you!
You sir are quickly becoming one of my favorite RUclipsrs. As an over stimlated middle aged mom, I love your editing style. It's informative, interesting but so calming!
I love being creative and I love watching you be creative.
Never change!
Makes me happy to hear! Thank you🌸🙌🏼
I follow so many sewing/knitting/crocheting/maker channels and I don't do fiber arts at all, but it's fascinating to see the process. A great shirt! Also, now I feel an overwhelming need to make a batch of stuffed shells!
Thank you! Stuffed shells were 10/10 highly recommend🙌🏼
The process is fascinating to watch! I agree. I watch so many crafts that I don't plan on picking up, but crochet is definitely one I recommend. I picked it up more seriously a few months ago and it's brought me a lot of joy and relaxation - it's REALLY good for stress relief.
YES!! The second I saw this shirt I was like OMG I need one! Love it. Also LOVE the Dont Hug Me I'm Scared puppets!
Thank you!!
That turned out beautifully after all that! Redoing the sleeves was so worth it
Yes! The final redo changed the look immensely and I'm super happy with it
Cool, it looks really nice and airy!!! I don't know if I would have noticed the different construction on the back of the original until it was too late, lol
I'm so glad I did because this is WAY easier than the relaxagon shirt!
I just discovered your channel through this video and im immediately sold on all of your content and your teaching style based on the way you broke this down. The paper template is something ive never thought of but could imagine being so helpful to wrap my brain around many different pieces
Thank you! Yeah the paper is amazing! I do it often
I’m not going to lie, the sleeves were looking really bad… but omg you totally did it! Whatever you wound up doing in the end was well worth the extra time and effort. They look great!! The whole thing looks great!
Yes, it made a huge difference! It took three or four tries 😰 so proud
@@Showmeromi You have every right to be proud! I’m proud of you! ❤️
@@rosem5044 thank you💕💕
When I first started crocheting I told someone I would love to make crocheted clothing for guys (mainly so I can wear them) but you don’t really see it that much and so I never really had a good place to start referencing from if that makes sense. Thank you so much for these videos!
You were really great at reverse engineering the shirt. I also love your personality, you seem very warm and open. Also extra points for the cute kitty. I can't wait to see what else you do.😍
I have been admiring this top every time I watch Queer Eye. I just love it! Also the top that
I think you are the goat for recreating stuff off the top of your head just by seeing it a design and making a pattern on the little paper is absolutely phenomenal and it looks great on you thank you for sharing.
Of course! It's extremely fun :)
Let’s talk about those ‘Don’t hug me, I’m scared’ puppets 💛💚❤️
Made a few years back for a show and I love them!!💕
Omg I tried so hard to do this bc I knew it wasn't a hexagon but I was still a beginner so I couldn't figure out how to do it. Thanks so much for breaking it down!!!
The shirt looks amazing. So impressed that you fearlessly took on the project AND frogged the bits that you wanted to perfect 💚
Thank you!
You are so creative and fearless - very inspirational
Absolutely satisfying to follow along your process.
i love the final sleeves!! the whole shirt came out so good!
What a cool process! Love it.
Wow,really well done! You look great in it!❤
Cant believe I havent seen you before now!!! I love the art and the ideas you give. thank you!!!!
Love the color and it looks great!
I am amazed at your ability to look at a garment and then re-create it. Love watching your videos ❤
This was a fun watch, thanks for sharing your process. It came out great!
I really wish I could afford the luxury of crocheting clothes using thicker yarn but my country is so hot that I have to use very very thin yarn to make clothes so it usually takes weeks or months to finish what other people can make within days 😢 but it's so pleasant to see your videos. It's so good that you also share your mistakes, it makes me feel like I don't have to be perfect
Cotton like this is very breathable! As long as it's not animal fibers or acrylic you can try a bit thicker. Good luck!
@@Showmeromi thank you for the useful tip!
Love the insight into the construction of it, patterns can be confusing so your approach was super helpful!
Re-doing the sleeves made such a difference and it turned out incredible!
Brilliant job! I just love that the Fab 5 wear crocheted clothes. Instantly fell in love with Antony's shirt. You did an incredible job of recreating it. Tan wears some cool crochet items & JVN too. Great seeing your whole process!
So glad I found your channel! You have such a warm vibe. Loved watching this video, and shirt looks amazing!!!
Oh wow, thw fixed sleeves make such a difference! Good thing you kept pushing
Yes!!! I saw this shirt on Queer Eye too and have been trying to figure it out for weeks. I was pretty sure I was going to have to do the back and fronts as three separate panels... I am SO glad I ran into this video! Thank you so much for sharing your process and results. I'm stoked to get started on this. Side note, I noticed a lot of crochet garments on the latest season of QE, love to see it. 💖
Youre so generous, hardworking and talented. So proud of you. Lovely boy, wishing you happiness and good health
Thank you for your kind words. Take care
I loved seeing the design process, thank you for showing how you work through issues. The finished shirt looks great! Take care 🌸😺
listening to you talk through your thought process was very interesting. It's always interesting to hear how different brains process to get to the same spot.
Looks amazing, I love it!
Omg this is so helpful! I like knowing how the pattern works and why so def doing this as one of my next projects😍
I am super glad and grateful to found your channel Romi!!
I really, REALLY ENJOY how you share your thought process, I always learn something new in each of your videos!
The vibe of your videos are also so relaxing and I live for your aesthetics so much 😭✌🏻✨❤️ Thank you for sharing them to the world!
I’m excited of what you would share to us next!❤
Thank you :) excited for the next one! New camera and editing software!
Those sleeves are EVERYTHING!! I’m working on a project and the sleeves really got me down. Thank you.
Thank you! I really figured it out with this project :)
Love the endresult. I think I'll make this for my boyfriend once I'm finished with my current project. Thanks for breaking it down so simply :)
I’m so happy you’re left handed. It will make it a lot easier for you. Somewhere in your description you should mention it.
💐😁💐
Oh, I didn't know lefthanded was easier! How come?
i just discovered your channel, like this is the first video im watching and i love it sooooo much i’ve already subbed. keep up, you’re amazing❤
Loves it💚👍
I love and appreciate how you broke down all your steps in making the garment👍
Love the st paddy's theme for March💚🍀
Thank you!
i'm so glad youtube recommended me your video, you have a very calming energy and i love seeing people reverse engineer something to fit them better! i'll definitely subscribe right away
i'm very new to crocheting and my biggest project so far is a flat circle but i'm enjoying the process so much ❤
That looks so good. I like the shade of green you chose
Thank you :)
For next projects, I don't know if you got the time but it might be worth to steam/wetblock the patterned patches before you assemble the shirt. I think it really lets the details pop out especially when there is a square pattern like in this case (or any other type of very sharp angle pattern repetition). You could do it once its done as well, but It'll likely be a nightmare
Sure! Cotton doesn't respond much to blocking but ill make sure to :)
Okay I'm going to start paper planning my designs now. Wonderful design! Loved the whole process.
Thank you! Yeah, try it 👍🏼
it turned out so good!
Thank you!
Thank you! As soon as I saw this top on queer eye I wanted to make it! 💚💚💚 love what you made
Love this idea of freehanding .. Ive crocheted for a long time (self taught) and sometimes i see finished products that i love but could never figure out ... lol Awesome job !
I love all of your videos so so much, like, just another dude crocheting with a vlog progress kind video, and not just a plain tutorial. I´m living for your content
Thank you! Intento :)
Thank you for creating this, and explaining the process so well!! Love this!!
Oh my gourd, it turned out AMAZING! Loved your wholesome walkthrough, step away, come back process and that you filmed it all. This isn't just an instructional video, it's a whole vibe and I love it!
Thank you! Yeah it's like a motivating hangout space that I'm trying to create here :)
@@Showmeromi It's working and I am here for it! Love it! ☺🧶🧡
I discovered your channel yesterday and I love your hard work and how you help us to crochet! cheers!

I love this!❤ I want to make one for myself. Looks very couture on you. The perfect Florida shirt. Subscribed.
Nice job! Good fit! You fixed the puff sleeve, very well executed!
Thank you! Super glad I remade them all those times.
I remember looking at this exact shirt when looking for inspiration for a vest I wanted to make, but didn't end up making it because I'm still so new to crocheting :'D But this turned out great!! And helped me like, understand how to reverse engineer clothing a little better, it doesn't seem as daunting after seeing your process with it.
You’re Crochet Julio Torres ! That’s what keeps coming to mind! Glad I finally figured out who you remind me of- it was on the tip of my tongue for days 😂
Omg hahaha. I've gotten that before lol. I've actually talked with a few of his friends.
Just found you from your Queer Eye cardigan video and I just love your vibe, cat and especially how you explain your reverse engineering. I’m a beginner crocheter and understanding how to reverse engineer crochet clothing I like the look of is so helpful! Thanks again! You have a new subscriber 💚
Thank you! I started in september. Tale big risks and you'll be surprised what you can make. Good luck!
@@Showmeromi Thank you, I will!

Wow those sleeves look amazing after you re-did them. Better than the original shirt.
I'm so glad you fixed the sleeves - I hated the before version. But it looks fabulous now!

This really hit the spot, just what my brain needed at this very moment!
This is really great. I’ve learned a lot about garment construction from watching this. Now I want to get back to crocheting and finish my last project I was working on m, a winter jumper for my greyhound.
Do it!! Thank you :)
Great video format!

Very nice design. Sleeves do seem to always be a tricky thing to make come out right.
Yes! The final pattern has even more improvements the sleeves, but ended up happy with them
Thank you so much, glad I found you
Thank you for sharing! This is a delightful youtube video!
Really enjoying these videos. I've been eyeing making some crochet summer tops, but have yet to take the plunge. This is great inspiration.
Thank you! This one is the easiest ive made and i highly recommend
I like it, the colours really suit you
Dude! You were amazing at reverse engineering that sweet 50's looking shirt. New subscribe!
I think it looks fabulous! Great job.😊
Thank you!
From the point of view, someone who crochets items without a pattern all the time, and someone who has sewn a shirt before you’ve done a pretty good job.
