Several years ago, I got stopped and given a (well deserved) speeding ticket. I didn't tell ANYONE. A day or two later, I received an ad for a radar detector. I had never discussed getting a radar detector and, to this day, I don't know if they are even legal in my state. My phone was on my passenger seat and overheard by conversation with the Highway Patrol officer who gave me the ticket.
Nope, that is not how it works. The manufacturers skim the public reports of the police departments for any potential buyers.

Case in point: I took family out grocery shopping. Before we left I told daughter I was going to have some fun with her cell phone. On the way to the store I struck up a conversation about getting a swimming pool. Later, when we got home, my wife's smart pad and my daughter's phone both had new ads about companies that install swimming pools. Yes, cell phones do listen in, even when turned off.
If you tell it to others they will say that you are paranoid. I have had this exact [of course not swimming pools] experience with my phones. Whenever I tried telling others they said I am conspiracy theorist.

@@sunchildgaiathere's a demonstration I found on here awhile ago the guy showed several pages with ads and had a sign to show what he was going to be talking about, dog toys, seconds after mentioning dog toys a couple times all of the ads started to show them, so this was a controlled test to prove our phones really do this, you could show them that. Most people are smart enough to know this but I suspect you're talking to the same people who parrot CNN and MSNBC calling everything a conspiracy theory.

Excellent Video: Step #2 on my Samsung S23+ says Security and Privacy, then go to More Privacy Settings and then tap on Usage & diagnostics at bottom of list. Then, turn switch off by tapping left. Security and Privacy are 5 sections down on settings or 12 buttons down on settings. Make sure you scroll down to More Privacy Settings. The newer phones hide, bury, and put settings farther down so they are harder to find.

Between AI and Deep Fakes it seems the Government can come after anyone they want to especially as computing abilities increase. Next day his phone had all kinds of adds for that exact brand on his phone. But not on mine.
We were talking face to face. Until then, he thought I was paranoid.
Not so much now though.
i was trying to recommend a food to a friend. i described it but couldn't remember the name of the company OR the name of the food i bought. he had an add for it half an hour later.
It gets worse, with the new artificial intelligence in our phones, they can read our minds. Nobody believes me, but it's real. It's called Neuralink.
Same thing with home cameras. I was talking about moving to another state, and homes and land for sale in that state immediately showed up on my RUclips videos

I have an android tablet, and I can be having a conversation with my husband like what we feel like eating over the weekend, and I'll get ads specific to the foods we were talking about. When I discussed over my landline with a neighbour, the trees that need to be trimmed in my yard that hang over her roof....I'll then get ads for tree trimming tools from our local hardware stores. I thought I was paranoid and it was a coincidence, but since I rarely believe in coincidence...I now know I'm being heard. Now I put music on in the background on my tv when I'm having conversations with my husband. Samsung is so confused that they give me tampon ads and I haven't needed those for 12 years now. 😂

I was working way out of town, in a logging area with no cell service and I was telling my boss it would be nice if I had a heated vest because I kept getting too hot with my jacket on, and too cold when I took it off. As soon as we got back in the service area, the first thing I saw, was an add for heated vests. Not cool, man. There's no way that was a coincidence.
So even without cell service, it just stores your audio/visual until you get back to an area with service, then sends it to google. Disturbing.

I don't carry a phone around. Have conversations with friends while out and about. Get back to my phone and have ads from those conversations.
My conclusion: other people's phones are listening with voice recognition (similar to a vocal "fingerprint") and cross-referencing contact lists.
A lot of apps and websites use cookies that not only store data but share it to other devices. So for everyone of your friends that has clicked 'accept all cookies' they have allowed access to your phone as well if it's nearby or even if you are just on their contact list.

@@dinom3106 access to your data! If say for example you and your friends are talking about taking a weekend break and one of them looks up a website for hotels. Some websites allow you to reject cookies but it doesn't there are often cookies that allow them to access connected devices. So your friend accepting allows them to send adverts to your device. It's not necessarily the phone listening.

About a year ago, a Hobby Lobby opened in my town. After a month or so, I walked in to check it out - just like every Hobby Lobby I've ever been in. My phone was in my pants pocket. Two guesses what kind of ads I was flooded with for a few days. 1984, here we come!
Considering tailored ads are agreed upon after using many different apps on your phone, one of them asks you to share your location and thus the ads knew you went to a hobby lobby, according to maps using collected geo data from everyone else.

I turn all those things off (the options they make us aware of and pretend it does something) and I still see these ads and suggestions. You shouldn't always come in trying to justify these people's actions. They're violating people's privacy in major ways, in ways they never knowingly agreed to. If people wanted to be spied on to this extent, they wouldn't get VPNs. But even VPNs etc don't do anything.

Yeah some "tech" people will try to convince us 'they don't listen to you' or aren't even reading our minds already. There are things I've thought about that they've shown video suggestions or ads for. RUclips seems to know exactly when to throw up an ad so I won't skip it. Anytime I get up and ready to go to the kitchen or upstairs for a moment a few seconds later an ad shows up. People who like to have an answer for everything and like making simple dismissals are going to say obvious things like, it's a coincidence or you're only noticing certain things at certain times, no I pay attention to my surroundings and what's going on and when.
This has been going on for years and years now. Could shut it off now, but they already have all of your personal info stored through many more avenues that the cell phone.
First time on this channel. I was able to understand the instructions clearly and follow them through hassle free.

Ok, just letting y'all know, the following day after I followed the instructions of this video and turned off the options, today the phone did one of those "updates" and right after that the headphone port stopped working 🤔🤬🤬🤬 my headphones are not broken, I keep trying everything.... Stupid 🤬🤬🤬🤬 hope they burn in h***
They "erased" my comment😡. The day after I turned off these options, my phone did a quick "update" and now my headphones port is making my headphones glitch out and not work. It started immediately after this "update" and my headphones worked just fine right before this. 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I'm gonna try with other headphones and see what will work.

Also, when not in use, cover up the camera lens on your cell phone. Even when turned off, they may still be able to access your camera app.
@@tonyv8925 It's not all the steps, but another step is to go into your settings and type in "modify" and click what pops up. It lists all the apps that have permission to modify your settings. You have to go through each one. Then you have to go to the top right, click on the three buttons and choose "show system apps" and turn off all of those as well. This is only one more step you actually have to go through but there are many more and most people can't do this....

My coworker mentioned Temu at work. We stood by a very loud machine. I could not stop getting Temu ads since.
This one seems more like a coincidence than most of the other stories. Temu is well-known for their aggressive advertising and predatory pricing. Almost everyone I know has a friend or family member who uses it, and that's because of the insane scale of their ad campaign. Turning off targeted ads just means the only advertisers you'll see are the ones who don't care if you'll click.

No it's not a coincidence. None of this stuff is. Why are there always people like you who want to deny reality to feel more comfortable? I've noticed even ads or other recommendations showing depending on what I'm thinking. Don't know if they've found some way to use wifi (which can pass through walls, our bodies and heads) to collect and interpret brain activity.

Even then you should be aware. Since a year or two ago I noticed that I received accurate soda ads that happened right after opened them up. I open a can of Coca Cola, a Cola ad appeared. I open up a Pepsi, a Pepsi ad appeared. I open a can of Nescafe mocha coffee...well, you get the idea. All these in the vicintiy of phone and in my car.
The most eerie is when I opened up a can of coffee from a brand that I don't usually drink and picked up because I was curious to try it out. Eerie because I left ALL my mobile devices at home to charge that evening. As far as I know my don't have wifi or online capabilities.
@@dareka9425 It could be coincidence since those are massive brands, or the fact that we are all connected through the internet. We have to sign up with email or mobile number for virtually everything! If you pay with card, that info is surely retained.
I signed up for rewards at my grocery store and have since received coupons in the mail and ads for items that I have purchased frequently. It's that easy. We're giving our data away without even thinking about it, for better or for worse.
I also lean toward the "listening in" theory. I've discussed items off-the-cuff and ended up seeing them in suggested ads. I am fully aware that the US government knows where I'm at and what I'm doing. I just happen to not care since I have a clean criminal record and aim to keep it that way.

If you don't see "Usage & Diagnostics" in the drop-down menu, hit the vertical three dots in the upper right corner and you'll find it there. That's what I had to do!

This is useless,,,, you have to turn off wifi, data, phone and wrap it up in aluminium foil when you don't use it,, otherwise you can still be "zucked".

Thank you for this video. Hopefully the changes won't affect any other functions of my phone, and it will do as you said it would. I have noticed on a couple of occasions when having a conversation with someone, advertisements started appearing on that topic, so that was confirmation that Google is ALWAYS listening, and now hopefully I have muted them.

I am from Brazil, thanks for uploading this video. Now everyone knows that our phones do, in fact, listen to our conversations. It's not conspiracy, it's literally in the configurations (though you won't notice it very easely because it is not sugestive). It's annoying as hell. I don't talk about sensitive themes anyway, so they would not have much to gain spying on me, but still it is not nice (your computer also have these spies on it, I will let you know, my friends. So eyes open).

I have Samsung J4+. It's a few years old. None of the 'drop down' options were available on my 'phone when I clicked onto Google.😢 So I'm still the wiser!

Unless you can physically cut the connection to the mic with a hardwired switch, your phone is listening. Listening for what? Sales leads. Security concerns, political concerns, criminal concerns, etc. Far more than just sales leads. Monitoring for key words has been going on for decades.

How sneaky, the wording used to hide these settings makes it so hard to know what they do. Also on my phone the usage diagnostics was hidden under the 3 little dots on the top bar in the Google settings
No joke, on my phone, some of the placements changed like it tried to trip me up. That's legitimately terrifying that they tried to make this video obsolete.
