That's not necessarily true, I was once at a concert and using the commode at the same time as the keyboard player, who asked me "what's the code to Mike Tyson's Punch Out?" He was a good dude.
I once was at an ATM, and whomever had used it before me hadn't closed out their session. I closed it out for them. I was looking out for a stranger, and I hope someone would do the same for me in such a vulnerable situation.
If I saw an “open account” at an ATM I would close it immediately too. All ATM’s are a little different. Sometimes you have to read how to close an account. They are far from trivial. I think this complexity is deliberate. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
This is up there with folks that just leave their receipts in the cart. Tear it up and toss it, because some won't. Not all receipts have more info than necessary, but no one needs even a little info unless you are doing business with them.
The courage displayed here is truly remarkable. These individuals faced real danger, yet you chose to confront the fraudsters and reclaim their stolen assets. Your commitment deserves great admiration, *Stalwart Redeem* If law enforcement matched your dedication and ingenuity (not to mention integrity), our country would undoubtedly be a much safer place. Outstanding job!
I've had a string of unfortunate experiences with swindlers in the past, which left me questioning my ability to make smart tradingg decisions. But Stalwart-redeem has been a game-changer, a reliable and a special being who can get back your losses and start anew.
He is truly exceptional, and his tools are so impressive that I occasionally wonder if he’s even human, haha. The bottom line is that *Stalwart-redeem* is the ultimate expert in recvering from scaams.
I am a victim or theft identity and fraud and the bank claims it's me who did it. I am taking them to small claims. If you move your money, they will do everything to get it back no matter what. After it's all settled, I will take my business elsewhere, though, win or lose.
Bring up politics!! I’m an atheist so Religion is always a good topic to discuss with strangers at the ATM . Old people always ask me stupid questions.
The only ATM conversations that I've heard that seem legit went like this: "Hurry up, people in line behind you." and "Yo, that machine is broken. They'll help you inside."
@@Iceageonmars when you go to the Social Security office there are people in there 20s and 30s offering their help to the elderly, last time his old guy was allowing this person to help him with his bank account. Please, if you see something say something.
@@MollyT-zk4ch The elderly get attacked ALL THE TIME!!! and often, they're as defenseless as a 2 year old, physically and mentally. They need to help set up automatic payments with seniors SS cheques if this is the case. They also should offer at stores like WalMart a monthly deposit to which they can just credit their purchases from and even get discount points or free stuff. This way no money or card are on the person, and their products can be delivered.
A lot of fraud and theft prevention relies on us...we're too ready to blame anyone, but how many of us have been too polite to NOT converse with a stranger or ask them to back up? How many of us are too trusting?
@@SmokinQuixote there are so many better options for getting cash I just don’t understand the appeal of using an unsecured ATM that’s often outdoors. There’s so much that can go wrong. Not just this trick, but skimmers, people attacking you either before the transaction (and forcing you to withdraw money) or after (conk you over the head and take your money) or distract you from the task, it’s just like why? Go get cash when you buy groceries at the supermarket. Go to your bank during banking hours and withdraw cash.
It is a terrible design. This issue could be avoided with properly designed software. Closing the session should not be required for security. All that is needed is if you select YES for an additional service it requires you to re-tap your card to proceed.
@@neilpickup237 even if you can fix this issue in particular, ATMs in general are a bad idea that really need to go away. As I said most are in very unsecured environments where you’re often isolated and where the device itself is easy to access without anyone noticing. There’s one outside a gas station near me. All you’d need to do is put on a bright yellow vest that you can buy at Walmart and you could spend an hour doing anything you wanted to that thing and nobody working there would see it. It’s just not worth messing with it.
Yeah, they're called Democrats. Though I expect they'll soon drop that moniker and cut to the chase and start calling themselves the Democratic Socialist Party.
Also, before you start anything grab at the ATM card slot, make sure there’s nothing attached because they put scanners on those things I’ve been doing that for years
I work at a Bank and ATM's at the Bank have cameras. If this happens to you, have the Bank review the footage. They will see you leave and the scammer taking your money. Also, this cyber guy is AWESOME! He is giving you great advice and solid tips to protect yourself. 👏👏👏
Yeah, but the video footage is at the corporate level. The bank would have to request it and that’s assuming they believe you. If they don’t they won’t. What is your job there?
@ I work in the Legal Dept. There are cameras inside and outside of just about every bank on the planet. Every Teller line, ATM, and the front doors has cameras. All these cameras are on a constant video feed, the footage can be reviewed on the spot. Do you people live under a rock?! It's basically the same cameras that retail stores use to watch people shoplift. Tell you what, go hold up a bank teller and when your picture is all over the 5 o'clock news that DAY I'll say...told you so! I'm out, y'all are stupid.
@joycek6556 - I would think that banks would have their ATMs set up with tampering alarms to notify them immediately when an attack is made. They could then remotely turn the machine off with an "out of service" notice on the screen until their security people get there.
Of course the banks should have thorough equipment available for said persons use. But why do most folk expect so much concern from random strangers that’s likely aware of whatever loop hole, as most loop holes are by design. At some point (solely based on what grown adults know p/come to know and have experienced by way of whatever vile individuals). You have to take steps to make sure that you are covering your own ass. Not that you have to go through living Life as a nervous wreck, but one’s brain is a brain for a reason.
They gonna tell you it’s not there atms unless it’s in the bank ok b of a told me that when the atm took my money it was a big thing they need to be sued
If it's a FDIC bank, your $ is protected. If the bank fails to correct the ATM's error, contact your member of the House of Representative & your $ will be back in less than a week.
Doesn’t necessarily have to be a “weirdo” scammers come in all shapes and sizes. Agree if the card doesn’t work, walk away and good advise, don’t talk to strangers.
I NEVER EVER USE A CC FOR GAS ITS BEST TO BUY THOSE GAS CARDS IVE been using gas cards now for many years and it works out GREAT‼️🌻 that way scammers can’t get anything try it just don’t lose your card NO cash or Cc required 😁😁😁
So that's what happened. 2 or 3 weeks ago I went to the ATM at my bank and my card wouldn't go in. I never use the tap feature. I just walked away. Thanks for the info !!!!!
I NEVER, EVER, EVER use the ""TAP"" feature!!! All these "modern" conveniences are NOT HELPFUL. BANKs are NOT your friend...just like Police, IRS Agents, & Gov't Officials!!
I stopped using ATMs 10 years ago because of the exact situations you described. I use my debit card via my phone, so when I go grocery shopping and need some cash, I use my phone to pay and get cash back. To me personally, it's much safer, and I haven't been scammed since.
Seem those that don't make sure screen goes back to welcome screen seem to be in a rush to go no where I Always make sure it goes back to welcome screen I have even pushed 2-3/4 other numbers at end to well make sure but I mostly wait til the welcome screen come back up but
This happened last year at Chase in NY. Chase originally told customers they were liable for the withdrawals & Chase wouldn't refund them their money. A news channel did an investigation & contacted the bank on behalf of the customers and Chase has since issued refunds & pursued police action.
@BoydClewis can't add top level comment. This was changed months ago with chase. You can only do one transaction at a time now. The atm software has been changed so you have to reenter your card for each transaction.
Saturday i went to my bank ATM to withdraw some money ,and for some weird reason when I tried to slide the card into the slot ,it was tough trying to get it in ,then I pushed it harder and finally it went in ,and immediately a message came up on the screen to call your financial institution,so I got on line in the bank and withdrew my money that way. I have an old debit card and it doesnt have the tap feature. After seeing your video ,now I check my bank accounts frequently
Bank of America fixed this now. Once you get your money, the screen comes back to the main ATM menu, without even asking if you want to "do another transaction". If you want more money, you have to tap your card again.
Wow, what a clear and precise explanation of ATM scams that 99.99% of the viewers can easily understand. Many people, either young or old alike, are just starting to use touchless transactions and may not understand that you need to see the transaction session end. Thank you, John
The ATMs around here have a $300 limit -- and I don't move away until I get the message that the session is done and I'm logged out. I will also avoid using an ATM if someone seems to be just hanging around rather than being actively waiting in line. Buuut.... DO NOT LEAVE THE ATM UNTIL IT TELLS YOU YOUR SESSION IS CLOSED AND YOU ARE LOGGED OUT. EVER.
Where i live ATMs keep your card internally until the session is closed (athough when doing a cash withdrawal the machine returns the card first, followed by the cash, to try and make sure you don't forget your card) Im suprised that ATMs in the US appatently don't do that
I stumbled across this video. And darned glad I did! The information you presented is current and vital. You're easy to follow and easy to listen to! Superb presentation. As well - you are likable. I’ve gone behind people me any times at an ATM that walk away without closing out their account. I find it annoying. However, I never walk away from an ATM without seeing the “thank you”. Money is too hard to come by. Thanks for the tip.
The safest thing to do is go inside the bank during business hours to withdraw your money. I have called 3 different people back to the ATM after they walked away because they had left their account open. I warned them to completely close their transaction before they walk away because the person behind them could withdraw money from their account before the ATM automatically closes it. People slow down and be careful.
I worked with the guy about 17 years ago. Who used his ATM card at a gas station that had a card skimmer on the pump. The thieves got at least four thousand dollars out of his bank account, and Wells Fargo took months to return the money to him. And only because he fought them so hard.
Yea my dad said that with them you have to fight every transaction. I found that out when straight talk kept charging me when I stopped using them. Took a bit for the investigation to get me my money back. A credit card that would have been gone instantly
Oh my!!! I'm sorry!! Never ever use an ATM card. Our bank told us this long ago as the money is immediately gone!! Can't give it back until the investigation is complete. *Always use a credit card* best to have one with fraud protection, too. They can immediately credit the account you'll owe nothing on it until the investigation is done , then only I'd they proved you did the transaction! I've yet to have one I didn't do not to be figured out.
That's ridiculous. Even a layman like me can figure out that the machine should require a second tap to authorize another transaction. They could fix this problem really quick by reprogramming the ATM's to require a tap for any further actions. Even if the person walks away without saying yes or no, and then the thief goes and says yes I want $960, the next step should be, please tap your card again to authorize this transation.
They don't take the time to do that level of research...........because,..........they ain't trying to give nobody's money back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This a great habit when it is feasible. There is thing calling jugging where people watch who is withdrawing cash from the ATM then follow them to rob them. I don't ATMs unless i am flying, and while it will cost more, I only use the ones in the airport.
Something similar happened to me long ago. I only lost $200, but i refused to use the services of any bank for more than 20 years, after that. I finally found a credit union with civilized staff and policies, but i still only conduct bank transactuons with a teller or officer of the bank, and i remember them, and they remember me. This makes doing business more personal, which i prefer.
Before they got taken over I used to use California Interstate. The teller notified me when a ex bf tried to trick her into giving my account info out. Back then I knew most of the tellers.
My credit union, BECU in the Bellevue WA area really, really takes care of me! I have only an ATM card and they still really look after me. Compared to B of A, and other big commercial banks, there simply is no comparison. I am so happy with BECU, as B of A and other big banks were always doing something questionable. I will never go back as long as I have a choice!
1) Use indoor ATMs whenever possible 2) Don't tap, hover. No reason to let your card physically touch any surface. 3) Don't conduct ATM business when anyone is within 5 feet of you. If that happens, log out and leave 4) check for hidden cameras on walls or other surfaces near the machine
And be aware of card skimmers! These newer type gadgets are better than the older ones. They have a camera and copy the data from your card. The camera will record what you type. Then, its possible to make a copy of the card and now the scammers know your pin numbers, too. The skimmer is installed on to the real keyboard of the ATM. 🇫🇮
@@MichaelSmith-hr3be Exactly I had to laugh at that comment. Hey look cameras on the ceiling pointing at the ATM machine inside the bank...must be a hacker.
Excellent advice, notice and recommendations. My local bank used to have 4 ATMs outside AND a 5th drive-up ATM (which I often use). They've removed two of them and moved them INSIDE the bank lobby right along the teller row. I always use those inside-the-bank-lobby machines when I'm not in the drive-up lane.
The Banks, Retail Stores, Restaurants and other businesses never respond to customer complaints until the complaint is put on display by the media outlets. Even the district attorney's and DOJ don't file a lawsuit or investigate until thousands of people complain about the same problem.
@@Pecunia3 Not really. In many cases it's not convenient to pay with cash and carry the coins around. I do usually carry a couple hundred USD just in case, but use cash less and less. Most of the time I pay with a credit card not debit, in case I need to return what I bought or dispute the charge for a service. Also a lot of credit cards give you cash back bonuses, debit cards do not.
This should be a reminder to all you people who use an ATM and walk off without making sure your session is closed out. We don’t live in a safe world anymore, and you need to be diligent in making sure any transaction you make anywhere is finalized before leaving.
Yesss,, you got THAT right about how we do NOT live in a safe world anymore. Even just 5 years can make a difference. Even this time back then (in say late Summer, 2019) as unsafe as our world was at the time,, it was still, MUCH safer than it is today,,, in August, 2024 ! Very maddening and sad,, when you think of it.
Well Chase makes you re enter you password after every transaction that you do while your using it at the time so there’s no way that could happen with their atms
I never leave a session until the ATM is back at the home screen. Always have done that and never had this happen to me. Protect your neck. It's a dog eat dog world out here. Thanks for the vid bro.
dont let anyone near you nor help you, go somewhere else if they want you to tap. and never ever tap your card, if you do stay there and clear it. Tdbank told me that to never use a tap. Anytime I use an atm I always hit the clear button immediately after every use. this is for you older people and ladies.
You were a God-send today. Tomorrow I am teaching digital/cyber security to some of our elder community members. This is one more thing I can share with them. Thank you!
This right here is why i hold atleast two bank accounts. One that holds my money, the other that i use for withdrawal. The primary account only transfers money to the secondary transactional account and nothing else. I used to work in the IT department of a bank, this kinda stuff happens all the time.
If what you state here is true... insert requires a PIN, tap does not require a PIN. This means the banks offering this scheme - are themselves complicit in the crime.
Tap feature does require pin after initial tap but you have to make sure you close out the session before you walk away. If you insert the card, the session is automatically closed out once your card is returned.
What should one do in a big city where ATMs are placed in bunches of 10 or more, often without any partitions between them? The other client is only a meter away.
I had an ATM give me an extra $20 bill. I went inside to let them know and they kept me around for about 25 minutes while they called their support to see how to handle the situation. Next time I won’t give them their money back
The same thing happened to me at a bank across town on a Sunday. Drove all the way back across town on my lunch hour Monday and the bank also kept me there forEVER trying to figure out how to handle it! I kept telling them there was no reason fir me to stay!
@@lobodiablo841 How am I a thief?! When I got money at the ATM, two $20's were stuck together so I went back to the bank to return the extra $20 because I am NOT a thief. Now do you understand?
I never use a ATM machine. for the simple reason is I'm always broke and there is no money to withdraw. Once i get my paycheck it's gone towards expensive rent and little food for the week.
Remarkable job, Grind Techiei -I'm delighted you're out there fighting these jerks. We must do everything possible to protect the elderly and the general public from these vile con artists! You deserve it!! Big up, brother, you deserve the Nobel Peace Prize for keeping us safe😊
Here's some more tips - 1. Have two checking accounts (a "secret" acct and a "withdrawal" acct), but don't link them with the ATM card. Tell the bank you don't want them linked from the ATM card. On your mobile app transfer funds from the secret account to your withdrawal account as needed. 2. Don't write checks or do ATM transactions from your secret account, only from the withdrawal acct. 3. Don't have overdraft on either account. This way your money is protected as much as possible.
Who doesn't make sure the screen goes back to normal, after being done with their transaction? Shoot, i don't walk away until I know everything is completed haha.
Banks aren't here to protect our money and Police aren't here to protect us. What part of "we are all debt slaves to oligarchs" did everyone miss? Public Education certainly did its work.
The police are here to protect you. Remember this. The police is only one aspect of the "justice" system. The DA (District Attorney) and the CA (City Attorney) have their part. The court system and the penal (jail, prison etc) have their part, if any one of the systems fails at any point, or is corrupt it affects all the other parts. It is the politicians and the political system that corrupt the justice system.
Thank you for the work you do and helping many of us to would normally fall prey to the wiles of the underworld. I watched this not more than 2 hours before running in to the same damn problem. How's that for precise timing?
During Covid I used my mastercard credit card to buy gas for my vehicle at a random gas station, not knowing that scammers had placed a card reader on the pump. About 1 or 2 days later I received an alert from the credit card company that somebody had charged about $1,300 on my credit card at a walmart. I immediately called the credit card company and told them not to pay out those charges, which I did not authorize and they did not pay out those unauthorized walmart charges. Just around that time the local police department put out an alert about credit card scammers placing card readers on gas pumps. That's why I NEVER use my debit card to buy gas at any gas pump.
I select "Pay Inside" when available at certain places, or I go inside and use a guesstimate of the total my car will take. If there's any funds left over, it is automatically put back on the card, which happens quickly. I absolutely never use a card at the pump.
I have seen scammers fitting card readers and cameras on cash machines inside banks. You can't trust any machine. Remove or damage the magnetic strip as most machines are chip and pin. Switch off contactless transactions.
Yes, this swipe, chip, enter, bump, tap, shake, venmo, PayPal addiction everywhere and anywhere is really strange. Seriously, for day to day use cash or get a prepaid and stick two hundred on it. Makes no sense to be vulnerable.
Fighting with the bank. I had a check for "$99.95" change to "999.95". Went to complain, bank said "you obviously meant nine hundred ninety five" to which I said "I wrote ninnety nine and 95/100", not "nine hundred...". They agreed to investiage. Next statement I got my money back, plus a $35 charge. Went to the bank again: "what is this charge?" "oh, that is the investigation charge". Yes they billed me to investiage their error. I wouldn't mind it if it turned out to be my error, but this was absurd. I phased out that checking account and moved to another bank and have been pleased ever since. Oh, and I also had to fight over the overdraft charges because they took away too many funds.
Yea thats how to lose customers there. Wells fargo least didnt do that part to me. They just charge me $5 a month to keep my checking account opened.... I need to move banks.
Also, if the slot doesn't work, don't use that machine. That's what the chip is for. The "tap" feature is there to make taking your money faster, not for your convenience. The extra 3 seconds it takes to verify the chip in your card 100 times will be well made up for when you spend six hours on the phone battling the bank once.
Always pull on the card readers as well. They're attached with 2 sided tape. They install those bogus readers within minutes and right in front of the public. I tug on EVERY card reader I use. If you use your debit card use it as a credit card transaction, no pin. Not full proof but, it's something. I like the fact that in Europe, they don't take your card away from your sight. They scan at the table. I constantly check my credit card when in use. Particularly when traveling internationally. Turn on the instant purchase notifications. You will get a text every time there is any transaction connected to the card.
I don't tamper with the machine. I do look for any signs of tape/cracks/gaps/etc... I do however have instant notifications for EVERY purchase of my debit card. Doesn't matter how big or small, I get a notification every single time.
1. Always check your surroundings in a bank and by the ATM.2. When you finish your transaction, cancel and close out all of your activity while you are at the ATM. 3. Lock your debit card in your bank app. Before you leave the branch, check your bank account ..This will protect you and your money.
That’s being a bit overly dramatic. Those people behind the counter are just as apt to steal your information and withdraw money from you. Many of these bank cashiers have gone to jail for that. Just be vigilant and check your account daily at least once a day.
Brilliant advice. I’ve never used the Tap feature. I refuse to. I also don’t use ATM’s. Chase is complete rubbish, right up there with Wells Fargo. Always wiggle the gas pump card slider to be sure it’s not compromised. We use cash mainly. Yes, we go into the bank to withdraw actual cash.
I’m 23 and have never known not to use a debit card for these type of transactions. Reading the comments really opened my eyes and i will definitely remember this
I have an ATM credit or debit card. I always use credit for transactions. My ATM machine I use to get cash is at a credit union and their machine is like no other I have ever seen. This machine takes your card side ways and sucks the card out of sight into the machine. At the end of the transaction the card extends out of the machine half way and you have to pull the card out of the machine completely and then the door opens to give you the cash.
Sometimes, one has to use an ATM, particularly if one needs cash while the bank is closed, or while traveling in an area without any branches for that bank.
Never use debit cards outside of the inside of your bank when it’s open, i.e., when you’re at a teller station and using it for authentication. Also, if there is *anything* wrong with an ATM. such as the card insert slot not working - DON’T USE THE ATM AND CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CARD IMMEDIATELY TO REPORT IT! Same thing for a payment terminal in a store. If there are stickers covering anything up; if there is a plastic overlay on the keypad - anything like that. Don’t use the terminal and call the number on the back of the card, as adding stickers or putting overlays invalidates the PCI PTS approval of the terminal - because they are often done to hide modifications, like skimmers.
For a couple of years now, the bank branches I go to have a security guard sitting by the ATMs 24/7. The ATMs are inside a building. If they take a bathroom break, they lock the door to the ATMs. The odds of someone having a chance to install skimmers, glue the card slot closed, are small.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. I have refused a debit card from my bank for the last nearly 20 years. I don’t believe in them because it leaves a person vulnerable unlike a credit card. I have been saying this for years and you are the first person that I have heard validate that to the public. I appreciate you, and because of that one comment and the rest of your information today, you have a new subscriber. Keep up the good work!!
Our bank told us to always bypass the pin and select the “sign for purchase” option as you are then using the card as a “credit card” and are protected by your bank for fraud. Our bank even called us one time to check and see if we did indeed buy an airline ticket to Malaysia, an $800 men’s suit and a $300 pair of men’s shoes. I told the bank (at the time) that I didn’t even have a passport why would I buy a ticket to Malaysia? I was not held liable for the transactions. We had used that card the same month of those transactions at a hotel in Charlotte, NC and had to have a card “registered” to cover “incidentals”. I’m pretty sure that is where it happened from.
02:15 I’m not surprised they said that. Chase is literally the worst bank. I ditched them a few years ago because it was nothing but problems with them.
Maybe the dumb bank allows you to withdraw 300 3 straight times. Would not put it pass them. Should be a feature implemented that allows only one transaction. If another is desired then you need to do it over again
I have withdrawn 600, but never 900. A few times in the past, when the ATM wouldn't let me withdraw over 500, I just drove to the nearest ATM a few miles away & got the remaining.
I dont go to ATM often anymore so trying to remember the sequece of events at the end of the session, but up here in Canada i am certain that the ATM will ask you if you want to perform another transaction and if you want a receipt of the transaction, you have to select these options and only then will it eject your card and wait for you to remove the card (so you dont forget it) before finally dispensing your cash while closing the session and displaying a thank you message.
I've been saying this for 8 years now. When i first met my wife, she didn't understand why i always used a cc. I told her why, but she said debit cards have the same protection. Well, fast forward to a few years later when we were getting married, she said we should stop using cc. So i obliged at a gas station. Filled up the truck and a few hrs later there was attempted fraud! Never used my debit again and convinced her that my way was better 🤣
Yep, credit cards are WAY better in pretty much every way. Way more protections, you usually get points for cas back, customer service is almost always better, you can be collecting interest on the money during the credit card grace period. The only advantage I see for debit cards is you can’t go crazy with your spending. But then you could just set a really low limit on your credit card also so even that is not an advantage.
I don't like to pay at the pump at all. I accidentally paid with my debit card feature on a card that had debit or credit, at the pump. They looked out and authorized a higher dollar amount than I was getting (driving Gramma's Cadillac) and it put $100 on hold for 24 hours or something like that. Showed the right amount on my receipt but I had less available balance to spend. I learned that day to always go inside and tell them how much I want to put in on pump ___ and I pay inside. I never pay at the pump.
My son is the vice president of risk assessment for one of the largest banks in this country. Once he said to me, "Mom, never use your debit card where you could use your credit card."
Exercise 'expression, and enactment of the right to establish the 'Office of The Executor''. To over turn the government's Executor De Son Torte fraudulent status. And put you in control of your Cestui Que Vie Birth Certificate trust fund. Which involves ordering, directing and requiring payment to you bank account of a sum of money per week you judge appropriate. Plus buy anything else you need.
Bank transactions are a private and personal matter. You should not allow anyone else to be present or within your immediate surroundings to have conversation with you during the time of the transaction. Anytime someone interacts with you while you are engaging in a transaction they should be treated with high caution and you should likely cease with the interaction AND the transaction. Also, complete every transaction to be ready for the next person. Always request paper and digital receipts of your transaction and/or purchase.
Maybe it's different in Australia... 1. (There are movement cameras in front of every bank ATM) If you 'tap', you still have to enter your pin number. 2. Once cash is dispersed, there is a 'would you like to make another transaction?'.. but it asks for your pin again. 3. I doubt a would be robber would loiter around an ATM waiting for an unsuspecting little old lady. Bit suspicious. 4. Most of us get a receipt at an atm. Once you take your receipt, end of transaction. You can't just wander back to the ATM and make another transaction. Your advice is good, but the bottom line should be 'take care when you take money from an ATM, make sure no one is close to you and always get a receipt'. done.
Same in Russia. Poor 'muricans, they live in the best country in the world (it's what they think, anyway), but still have to put up with third-world outdated crap.
Wow i had no idea the session stays open when using the tap feature! I always make sure my session ends no matter where it is, however this is good to know, thank you!

The safest thing to do is go inside the bank during business hours to withdraw your money. I have called 3 different people back to the ATM after they walked away because they had left their account open. I warned them to completely close their transaction before they walk away because the person behind them could withdraw money from their account before the ATM automatically closes it.

I had an account at a great small bank. But they got bought out by a faceless giant bank who wrecked it all.

I always buy gas at a Shell or Sunoco with their company cards. The most I might lose would be $50, but that's unlikely.
I have seen scammers fitting card readers and cameras on cash machines inside banks. You can't trust any machine.
Remove or damage the magnetic strip as most machines are chip and pin. Switch off contactless transactions.
Check the buttons if not dirty or worn….one needs to check the machine.
Taking your money faster by 2 secs is the convenience
@@barry1122 A meaningless one. Who the hell thinks saving a few seconds a day matters at all, a deity?
This includes deposits and withdrawals and any online purchases also.
1. Always check your surroundings in a bank and by the ATM.2. When you finish your transaction, cancel and close out all of your activity while you are at the ATM. 3. Lock your debit card in your bank app. Before you leave the branch, check your bank account ..This will protect you and your money.
This video just reinforces why I just go to the bank and withdraw money from a bank teller
If u can. If its convenient
Exactly
Ya, well they are getting the same treatment as grocery store check outs. Fewer and fewer…GONE!😡
That’s being a bit overly dramatic. Those people behind the counter are just as apt to steal your information and withdraw money from you. Many of these bank cashiers have gone to jail for that.
Just be vigilant and check your account daily at least once a day.
Thank you Boyd, that was some truly useful information had no clue about the tap feature on ATMs.
Glad it was helpful!
ATMs dontt tap here.
Get used to hitting clear and cancel buttons when done. Also ask the bank to put an ATM daily limit amount.
If an ATM asks do you want to perform another function, why would you not say no? Why would you just walk away?
maybe they didnt want to offend the atm 's feelings?
😭😭
People are lazy 🤣
Too bigga damn hurry .
@@YoungBlaze 😂😂🤣🤣
Does Chase not have a withdrawal limit per day? Lots of banks have limits like $300. Several reasons why they would do that.
Mine is $500!😲😲
$500 or more - mine is $1000 I believe, per day.
All they had to do is close out the transaction before walking away. I don't understand how they keep falling for scams
@@wallychambe1587yup 500 hunded😂
Brilliant advice. I’ve never used the Tap feature. I refuse to. I also don’t use ATM’s. Chase is complete rubbish, right up there with Wells Fargo. Always wiggle the gas pump card slider to be sure it’s not compromised. We use cash mainly. Yes, we go into the bank to withdraw actual cash.
I lose cash
Good for you ! Wish more people would use cash ! ...... we must ( RESIST ) A cashless society ....... the big boys win !!!
Do not walk away from the ATM ever until you have made sure the session is closed, meaning you are logged out
I’m 23 and have never known not to use a debit card for these type of transactions.
First mistake; using an ATM. Second mistake; talking to a stranger at the ATM.
Why is the first one a mistake?
Sometimes, one has to use an ATM, particularly if one needs cash while the bank is closed, or while traveling in an area without any branches for that bank.
They've closed so many banks in GB many of us have no choice but to use an ATM.
*hackerviper50* *Thanks so much I won’t have completed the evidence before the deadline. You Rock..*
Thank you for this information. I just subscribed, I need to stay in the loop!. Again , thank you.
Ok awesome vid. Recap
1. Dont get a debit card (just ATM), $700 limit
2. Just use a Cred Card like he says.
3. Dont use Chase.
What are the ATM cameras for? They can't check the camera at the time of the transaction and see another person use it?🤔
They see 'someone' using it.... your friend? Hubby? Sister, neighbor???
Thank You So Much For All the Information and Advice.
Moral of the story is, if the card feeder is not working, go elsewhere and report it, done.
Thank you for sharing the video. Very good information
02:15 I’m not surprised they said that. Chase is literally the worst bank. I ditched them a few years ago because it was nothing but problems with them.
Chase Bank is a criminal organization
Ah. Thanks. I don't tap at ATM. The Chase ATM I use is drive up. And I maintain "situational awareness". Being a tad paranoid today is necessary.
🎯 Also make sure you’re not being followed when you leave the Bank……….

Exactly, extremely important also. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve never heard of an ATM letting you withdraw $900?
Maybe it’s just me and my poor self.
Siri says 300 to 1000 is the typical withdrawal limit for ATMs
ATM limit is usually around $400.00 per day…
You can set your own limits
Yep...happens a lot. So years ago we decided to always pay inside.
I don't use cc. I don't see the need to pay a massive corporation to use its money. Debit cards are safe, if you pay attention.
Haha jokes on the scammer because if I took out $40 there would probably be about $3.95 left in my account.🤣🤣🤣 oh wait why am I laughing I'm poor.🤣🤣
Only keep immediate planned spending in your cash account with no access to other accounts. Never allow anyone except a bank officer to “assist” you.
