Hiya. Well these Arrma how to videos have been popular so I thought it would be worth trying to cram a load of top tips into a video about this one. Many thanks for watching my friend. Hope all is well with you 😃
Seriously, this is one of the best RC maintenance videos I've ever seen! Good lighting, shots are in focus, your tips are super helpful and your delivery is concise and to the point. Thank you! Subscribed.
Hey that's great feedback which is very much appreciated. Thanks for the sub also. I did try to put as many tips as I could into this one without going on too long. The Senton videos go into more depth as I was saying. Many thanks again 😁
Hey Pete thank you so much for making this video very clear and well explained can see everything clearly. I just got a new Granite so I’m going to do everything you said before taking it out for the first time. Also going to reinforce the body first time doing it also 🙂 Cheers 👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Hi there. Ah it's good to know that the video was helpful. Yes I would definitely put extra plastic under the body where the shock towers will hit and also around the body holes. Also the shock tower braces are a good idea if you are doing jumps. Many thanks for your great feedback. Hope you enjoy the truck 😁👍
Fantastic video. Awesome tips. I'm about to pull the trigger and buy a Big Rock after being out of RC for about 15 years. My previous attempt was with a HPI MT2 18SS, a nitro vehicle that I only managed to run a handful of times as I found nitro more painful than fun. So anyway, thanks for the insights, much appreciated. Subscribed. 🙂
Hi there. Thanks for the great feedback. I would say that these are a great choice for getting back to the hobby. You do need to check the bits I mentioned but beyond that it should be reliable. Personally I'd go for the Granite if I was only allowed 1 of these but as I'm not I have all except the Vorteks. They all have something to offer but I just like the madcap fun of the Granite. The Big Rock is a bit more stable so it depends what you want. Have fun :-)
Nice job, I've been considering buying up the parts to convert my Senton to a Big Rock for the winter months. Though I'd rather just buy a whole new one lol. Keep up the content, looking forward to seeing the comparison video 👍
Yeah it is fairly expensive to get the body, side guards and wheels but cheaper than a whole new RC obviously. Many thanks for your great feedback. Yes I need to get on with comparing them now! :-)
@@PeteWylieRC You're welcome . I just got one and I found the video helpful on things to look out for. I've been doing RC for a long time but this is my first Arrma . So far I'm impressed and it's good to see them trying some different things to evolve hobby .
Good call ! I’d be interested in your opinion on the best one as next month I will purchase the typhon or maybe the big rock??????? Great upload thanks 🙏
Ooh I don't know which to suggest currently but I don't think you'd be disappointed with either. I think that the Senton will come out bottom although it's still good. The others are just better! I'll try and test drive some more soon. Many thanks for your support. Much appreciated 😁
Hi Pete, hope you're keeping well, that was another informative video and unboxing of tbe mean looking black big rock. Your previous video tips have certainly helped my son and I enjoy our first runs of our Typhon Mega's, so a thank you from me. We had fun with our Arrma's and I am certainly hooked on them. Great RC's. We had no issues with our Typhons, they run really well. As you may remember I am still learning the steering wheel radio, but if I was able to perform one handed operation of the car and film with my iPhone in the other, great fun! We will probably be looking to start upgrading them and making them a bit quicker. But I must say, not at disappointed with the Arrma, great RC! Thanks for your hints and tips 😉 🙂
Hiya John. Glad to hear that you've been out with the Typhons. It is good to have RC's that are a bit stronger than the Tamiyas so you can bash them around a bit. As a 3s it's an absolute beast. Be quick enough with brushless and 2s to be honest. I believe the Mega has the same gears as the 3s doesn't it? Anyway, have fun. Many thanks for your great feedback. Much appreciated. Cheers for now my friend 😁
@@PeteWylieRC Hi Pete, i think you're right, the V3 Mega's have the gears of the 3s versions, my son and I will be upgrading for sure. I am looking at purchasing some LiPo's, then upgrading the speed controllers and motors. Researching LiPo's is doing my head in! Any recommendations? Take care my friend 😉
Nice, Pete! I misser out on this and actually thought the Big Rock you where talking about was your Senton with the Big Rock body. Amazing you got all of them now. Looking forward to the comparison and the reveal of your favorite. I badly want this one. But trying to shake of the temptation 😅
Hi Mikael. Yes in the end I decided to put the Senton back to how it was and the get the Big Rock to complete the set. Trouble is that then they released the 3s Vorteks! Probably give that one a miss as they have hiked the price up. Anyway the Big Rock is an epic bit of kit and highly recommend when you find yourself with a bit of spare cash. Probably the best all rounder from the range. The red motor plate is metal. I'm not sure what is used for the red finish but it's like the blue on the Tamiya hop up's. Anodised I think. Anyway it's fine with threadlock. Cheers for you comments matey. Best wishes to you 😁
@@PeteWylieRC Ahh, it’s metal 🙃🙂 Uhh. Yeah, had planned to get this one but the RC spring budget went to Tamiya hop-ups, motors and paint and all that stuff. Uhh, and a new DT-01.
If you put thread lock at the bottom of the screw it will coat the whole shaft. No need to ever put thread lock past middle of threads. Just a tip for some.

Hi there. If you are getting the metal spur gear then I think you need an extra slipper pad. My 4s has got two pads on each side from what I can remember. Thanks for watching the video and your kind feedback 😁👍
Pete, the switch on the pistol grip is for the throw on your steering servo.. RUclips can answer that for you.. now can you help me?.. can I run high melting point grease in my front and rear diffs on my granite, or do I need silicone oil. I cannot find the standard viscosity.
Ah right. I should have looked! Anyway I've only tried silicone oil on these. I think that they come with 10000cst. I used 20000cst because it's what I had. Can't see a problem with using grease because the Tamiya kits do. Don't think that it gives the limited slip effect that the thick oil does though. If you look for Core RC silicone oil on eBay you should find it. Many thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated 😁
Yeah I had to complete my collection. I thing that the Big Rock might be the best all rounder but need to do more testing. Many thanks for watching :-)
@@PeteWylieRC yeah I just got a Typhon I’m loving it! Now I got my sights set on the senton to complete my 3s collection, the big rock is a really tuff truck, I’ve done a lot of ramp jumps with it on my channel and had some pretty hard tumbles, the only thing I’ve broken is the rear turnbuckle trying to do a front flip lol, one thing you may notice is that even though the BigRock is wider and slightly longer than the granite, it does traction roll easier, I think it’s because of the thinner tires and when driving they balloon out making them even thinner so I might try the granite tires on it and see how that goes! Good video and congrats on the new ride👍
Well I'm dubious because apart from falling out, the dirt can go in there as the chassis scuffs along the ground. It's probably ok if the dust is perfectly dry and doesn't stick to the gears. I has a Traxxas Slash 2wd and the spur gear cover had a hole at the bottom to supposedly let out the dirt. Well it got endlessly clogged up until I got an RPM one with no hole and then it was fine. Personally I think it's best to try and stop anything going in there in the first place 😁

Shocks are another weak spot but optional as the shock rod ends pop out but you can glue those back in and with a couple spares you'll get through bag of batteries no problem. Or you can get some better shocks like the ones in this vid, the typhon 6s or zd shocks. The arms and turnbuckles are solid. The chassis and towers might be plastic but they are tough as nails I've never broken any of those doing full sends up a quarter pipe.

Good video. Arrma have released another one to add to your collection. With my big rock the throttle will sometimes cut off before the battery is low, usually after landing jumps, do you know why this happens? I don't think it's the low voltage lipo cut off, it can happen a few minutes into a new battery pack
Oh yeah I saw the new one yesterday. Don't know if I can justify buying a new one just yet. Also they have hiked the price up compared to the other 3s cars. Not sure about your issue. Sounds more like a battery connection issue. Are the plugs and soldering ok?

Hi there. Yeah the new 4s versions have a load of great upgrades which makes them better value on the face of it. Sounds like you got a good deal. Many thanks for your comments :-)
@@PeteWylieRC the 4S versions have been improved, but they are priced too close to the 6s counterparts. They're only $80 difference at normal pricing. When the 6s are on sale, they are great buy.
Hi there. Yeah all good thanks. I tend to run it with a set of Granite tyres I have but other than that I don't think I've had to change anything. Many thanks for your comment.
I just think it's absolutely ridiculous that you have to "fix" it before you even run it. technically you don't have to do any of this but there's a reason people do before their first run. $500 for the truck, battery and charger and yet you still have to PMCS (preventive maintenance checks and services) the fucking thing...
Hi there. Yeah I agree that if it's RTR then you should be confident that it's good to go really. I wish that more manufacturers made kit versions of their RC's so you could build it right in the first place. Many thanks for your feedback. Much appreciated 😁

@@PeteWylieRC you are not wrong, even I have just bought a RTR......a WPL D12, cos you can’t really be an RC car geek if you don’t have one right 🤣🤣
@@cscape1973 Oh yeah I need to get one so I can join the gang :-)
Probably better to get the Kraton 4S. But I bought the Notorious 6S for only $10 more then converted to the Kraton 6S with the parts that I had.
@@Victic005 worth knowing, thanks 😃
How's it running today?
Hi there. Yeah all good thanks. I tend to run it with a set of Granite tyres I have but other than that I don't think I've had to change anything. Many thanks for your comment.

I find that certain screws can shake loose and the glue keeps them tight. Thanks for your feedback.
