It’s been a stout motor the last year, the M3 just lapped up the Ring. Awesome car, glad you have kept the stock exhaust. I’ve yet to hear a better sounding aftermarket exhaust.
Glad you’re still happy with the M3 and hope you had nice time with your Dad. Only 3k miles though? More weekend blasts are a must!! You know we all understand your feelings about the DC2, it’s a labour of love man, petrol hedonism. Get the shell straight & strong and fall in love all over again. Keep your spirits up any way you can & take your time achieving the goals. Peace out
Hey Danny. Hard to believe another year has gone by that quickly.😲 You've made some very tasteful modifications to the M3, mate. The coilovers, 18" wheel/tire setup, Recaro, purple tag rack, and brake upgrades make it look great and really perform. I think it's funny how we change as we get older. When I was young, the intake, header, and catback exhaust were the first things to change. Now, I go straight for the brakes and tires.😆 You mentioned only putting roughly 3,000 miles on the E46, but those Nürburgring miles are the equivalent of a lot more. It handled all you threw at it and didn't complain a bit (well the tires protested a little😆). Congrats on the 1 year anniversary and may the M3 bring you many, many more years of good memories. Cheers dude!
I've always rated the e46 M3 and it's a great chassis. You only have to watch the supercharged one at the Ring to see that and your own vids are great. If I didn't have the e30 I'd defo have one myself. Anyway, good to see you're still enjoying it.
Good run down Dan. Get what you mean about the steering and I'm infinitely envious that for a good quick rack it was that cheap, I'm stuck with a box on my E34 and as it's a V8 I can't even fit the M5 box to speed things up a bit, but hey ho. I think some people don't 'get' the difference in your relationship with the E46 and the DC2, you probably know better than anyone how easy it would be surpass the DC2 in the E46 with a few more tweaks, but then it wouldn't be a 'nice' car anymore, whereas the DC2 is just as much about the build journey as it is reaching the goal - which is why getting it patched up is important. Can't wait to finish uni and get the E34 nice again, as nice as the steering is - no joke - I'm getting a bit bored of my 147 diesel :-)
Im glad it serves you well. U kinda turned on my love for the BMWs, decided to give one a try this year. Got my first 6cyl ever, 2nd car ever, 323i e46 and im so happy with it. It has been so reliable, and i just love driving it.
Thanks. Jeez nearly wrecked it yesterday, luckily only tire puncture and a little bit of paint from bumper ... Watchout, those things arent messing around on wet roads, got a little cocky and it punished me right away.
I bought my e46 M3 in October 2009 it had 16k on the clock at the time. I have it still it’s got 42k on it now. I’ve always loved it and kept it stock. Daily drove an RX8 and believe it or not a Fiesta Sportvan in the wintertime. When I watched your video of your first impressions last year I couldn’t understand why you thought the steering rack was slow. Put the BM back on the road in April and it’s the first thing I noticed, thanks mostly to the wee fiesta, I swear that thing has telepathic steering. I’d love to keep it stock, but as you say it’s not a big spend so I’ll have to look into it. Cheers mate!
Another great vid Danny. I've had a lot of similar experiences with my M3. I might look into the steering upgrade you mentioned. That's the only area I was initially underwhelmed with. Ps. I agree about not worry too much - those internet Gremlins can drive you mad haha. Knock wood for both of us
I have smg2 2003, completely stock. Had it since 2008. Bought it on 16k mile and has about 70k on it now. Only problem I have had it, fuser unit on a head light went which was a few hundred quid and cracked rear springs which is common fault. Other than that completely solid. Amazing car n I will never sell it!
am never first lol one day ! love your vids danny loved my m3 enjoy it mate there good cars wit bit of bad rep vanos subframe ect ect i drove mine for 50 k hard mile never once let me down sold it with 139k miles good ones are solid cars.. i want to sell f30 328i am get another e46 m3 as investment car best car iv ever owned
Please can you do a video on nurburgring tips, traveling, booking, car prep etc. etc. you mentioned a while ago you might. i would be really interested.
Excellent video, appreciate your feedback after 1 full year of ownership! Did you happen to get any work done concerning RACP repair/reinforcement, say, by Redish? I'm in midwest USA with an 04 M3 myself.. about to perform full suspension refresh but possibly needing to face the rear subframe issues before new suspension parts go in. Really wished I lived in the UK right now lol.
Hiya Dan, I was wondering what you do when it comes to insurance for your cars? are they all on a multi-car policy or do you individually buy policies for when you need them and just have your no claims on one of them?
DannyDC2 I think I looked at the tables and it doubles the early values to make it feel responsive so WOT is still where it should be but I was the same I just prefer the linear range it feels easier to modulate
Ffs i want one again now talked myself out of owning one due to to many issues.I like the 18s square stance and how it sits with the bc and Porsche brakes
Hey buddy. Im building a similar spec e46 m3. How are you liking the BC coilovers? i was thinking of going BC with SWIFT springs. Also are your tires a 255/35 or a 265/35? Love the car. Thanks bud
I know you said you were a worrier, I myself worry alot as well. Having said that, have you reinforced your RACP(rear floor board)> Also, Have you addressed the vanos issue (seals, exhaust hub tab breaking off, etc.)? Any input is appreciated as I am going through a similar process as yourself. my car doesn't have any issues however, I want to make sure I fix things before it gets bad.
Car looks epic as always, the 18s do so much, I was never a fan of the 19s, or all diamond cut wheels really, perfect ride height too. You did the m3 right with the bits you upgraded, must be a lot of fun to drive, would love to own one some day, and that color is just the best. What do you think about the stock antirollbars? You left them stock right? Maybe upgrade in the future?
Roll bars is on the mind, I'd like to upgrade them. I've never really played with roll bars before as the ones on the Integra from stock were enough, but a lot of owners upgrade them on these. I had a lot of roll at the ring but it also great traction considering the tyres. Looks soft in all the pics though so got me thinking...
Nice video. I loved my e46 M3. All the right mods too. Just missing an alcantara steering wheel and a second recaro seat just to look a bit more symmetrical lol. also, can I ask - which camera a re you using just to VLOG with when you are outside the car? Cheers
Time flies, M3 is definitely a good car. Look forward to more stuff whether its DC2 or MR2 etc. Any plans to get back into drifting or other sports (Hillclimb, autocross...)?
Hi Danny, do you have any particular thoughts on mk1 mx5s? as a young driver and new to the car modding scene ive been really enjoying my time with mine :)
Yeah bro. CSL SMG tune, 6 year thrashing it. Put 60km on it. Accumulator & pump issues. Better to just swap it, (good excuse). Loved SMG though, would buy one again if I had to. So no regrets as they are cheaper to buy as SMG, and I've had my money's worth. Check out the 'burble' mod. So cool these cars can be hacked to have all the modern features. Very interested to see your 4.1. Seems like the best bang for buck 'speed; mod.
Awesome review as per buddy! Currently doing purple tag and steering upgrade on mine this weekend, as standard steering defo requires too much input imo. Agree with sport mode. I have afew questions.... Do you think 18s are better than 19s square setup? Also what settings do you run your dampers for toad/track, Cheers.
Hey Danny, happy to hear you still like y our E46 M3. We have kind of same taste. I own a DC2 Type R K-swap engine too and like to track here in canada. And 2 years ago I got an M3 E46 lol I just did not modify my E46 for the track yet... I would like to know how you would compare your E46 M3 to that E92 M3 you drove couple months ago ! Also, how to I get notified when there is reply here ?! Martin
If money was no object, would you go for coilovers made by KW over BC or another brand? With the recaro fixed bucket seat you have, is it impossible to access the rear seat on the driver's side? Also, would you consider getting yourself Evolve's carbon airbox?
Probably Nitron or Intrax if money was no object, though brand names aren't really important. Spend more and you will get a better performing coilover. You can still get in via the passenger seat and there is plenty of room behind me, I had 4 in the car a few times in Germany. No plans for the airbox.
Good video Danny, very helpful. Do you find the car a bit jerky when it’s warming up? Also, do you mind pasting a bit more info about the steering rack. I agree 100% with you that the steering isn’t responsive, particularly on motorways, and would be interested in copying your setup. Cheers
Yeah they are all like that! My Hondas are the same. Must be a high-revving n/a trait ;) - the steering rack is from another E46 Sport, the models which the purple tag came on is a bit loose, but just make sure the part number ends in 067. It never feels too sharp to me. Feels perfect! Felt great at the Nurburgring too.
They were the wrong fitment type. Apparently 2002 was the crossover year and mine had the newer style or something. Amber ones were available from Europe from memory but I decided it wasn't worth the hassle, as I was happy to settle for the clears. I've always said an E36 is best with amber fronts/clear rears, but I'm not sure about the E46. Maybe if a set came up in the right fitment for cheap I might try them. Lol
DannyDC2 Totally agree with the ambers on the E36 but i saw a picture of an E46 M3 (in your colour) with ambers and i loved it😉. Also loving the videos btw!! Keep up the great work
Hello!i also have an e46 m3 and i find the steering rack slow, but the rack from the csl is expensive.which rack did you use and where can i find it from!thanks alot! Nice slides at the ring!!
Currently saving for an e46 m3, I have read all the horror stories. Only one I'm really worried about is the rear subframe...have you reinforced yours?
Hi Dan; when you fitted e46 lower wishbones to your e36 did it change the camber and what was the benefit / improvements for doing this? I have an m3 evo and have got a rack and solid coupler to fit to it wondering if e46 lower wishbones are worth doing. Use my car for fast road driving with full interior. Cheers
The E46 lower arms on an E36 give a wider track at the front, something like 50mm per side so it's quite a lot. I needed the extra room in the wheel arch area for drifting, as my hubs had been modified to give extra lock. I was running around -5 degrees of camber too. I've seen people use them on E30s but I haven't done it myself. I would do some Googling :)
DannyDC2 thanks Dan, it sounds like I probably won’t need to then, 50mm is a lot and don’t want to upset the geometry too much! I’m hoping to get the rack n solid coupler fitted and have the tracking done today so will have a play after and see if it’s worth doing. Previous owner had swapped the top mounts from left to right so the camber on the front is quite negative anyway. I’ll give google a go too Cheers again
We do but they are usually in certain hotspots so you know roughly which roads you can hoon down and those you can't. Always a risk though :P I got napped on a road less than 500yrds from my house that I've driven down 1000's of times without seeing any fuzz, and yet there they were, smiling with the gun as I came flying past at 52mph in a 30 zone in my TDI Corsa C.... Bollocks !
i have an e46 m3 aswell my EML light came on and off once or twice which is probly the tps sensors, u mention headgasget is expensive 🙀 how mucg bout is it cause i thought its a quick fix
Care to explain what was done to the OEM exhaust? I'm interested in the mod as i dont care to pay >$1000 for a muffler. But it sounds like this and an AR20 might be a good option. Cheers!
positive mental attitude. i like it. peace
PMA
I enjoy hearing you talk about your cars. And I'm happy to hear your thoughts on the DC2 at the the end.
The set-up on the M3 is ideal at the moment and it looks great. This M3 is a keeper Danny!
It’s been a stout motor the last year, the M3 just lapped up the Ring. Awesome car, glad you have kept the stock exhaust. I’ve yet to hear a better sounding aftermarket exhaust.
Ohh man I do love the sound of that itb six when you passed!!! Marvelous!
Thank you so much from Greece!
I love the channel danny! Been watching for a while now. One of the most geniune RUclips channels around🙌 keep it up man 👌🏻
Bloody hell. That means I’ve been subbed for over a year. How time flies by
Much Blessings Danny!
Great honest review as always.
Really pleased you want to fix the DC2. Keep up the good work 😀👍🏼
Glad you’re still happy with the M3 and hope you had nice time with your Dad. Only 3k miles though? More weekend blasts are a must!!

Thanks for this video and advice. Cheers from Croatia !
I love how you went with the 18” square setup, barely see anyone do this, I’m doing this to my 330ci in the future
Great video Dan, you bought an e46 at the right time. Investment moneywise, and funwise!!
Great review, very interesting, much learned - thank you

Cheers dude!
You're right Mick! Back in the day they used to say that 1 hard Nurburgring lap is kinda equivalent to 1k normal road miles. I did over 20 laps! :)
@@dannyDC2 did you change to 9J front wheels to go with the 255 tyres? cheers
I've always rated the e46 M3 and it's a great chassis. You only have to watch the supercharged one at the Ring to see that and your own vids are great. If I didn't have the e30 I'd defo have one myself. Anyway, good to see you're still enjoying it.
I like the fitment of the tires/wheels in the wheel wells
Day gets better when I see that upload notification
Really glad your going to fix your Integra dc2, can not wait to see your vids on it.
Good information
Very detailed
Thanks
Good run down Dan. Get what you mean about the steering and I'm infinitely envious that for a good quick rack it was that cheap, I'm stuck with a box on my E34 and as it's a V8 I can't even fit the M5 box to speed things up a bit, but hey ho.

A year already? That’s gone well quick
I reshelled my DC2. I got a really clean shell for £1500 with everything ready to go
Good honest vid as per👌🏼
Great video, I've just subscribed 👍
Im glad it serves you well. U kinda turned on my love for the BMWs, decided to give one a try this year. Got my first 6cyl ever, 2nd car ever, 323i e46 and im so happy with it. It has been so reliable, and i just love driving it.
Nice to hear! Enjoy
Good choice. Enjoy!
Thanks. Jeez nearly wrecked it yesterday, luckily only tire puncture and a little bit of paint from bumper ... Watchout, those things arent messing around on wet roads, got a little cocky and it punished me right away.
Nějakej Plaesant I cant even get my 525i to drift on wet roads!?
Just go on it a little harder, but realy be careful. I overdid it and it just snaped right away, turned 180, hit a curb, nothing happend luckily.
Great presenting skills!

Haha, once you notice it, it's hard to live with imo!
Jeeeeeez doesn’t feel like you’ve had the m3 for a year already! Nice mx5 8:24 🤙
Totally agree about the "Sport" button... it actually takes away from throttle detail. I've found it makes it too "jumpy" more than anything.
Beautiful car mate, you made some very tasteful mods to it.
Happy anniversary 🎉🎉. Bmw❤️
Another great vid Danny. I've had a lot of similar experiences with my M3.
I might look into the steering upgrade you mentioned. That's the only area I was initially underwhelmed with.
Ps. I agree about not worry too much - those internet Gremlins can drive you mad haha. Knock wood for both of us
The steering is great now buddy, highly recommended! The internet gremlins lol... they will always plague my mind.
PERFECT spec e46 you got.
Such an amazing machine
I'm so jealous you have such a nice car
No dislikes, what a time to be alive. Plenty of cheap clean Integra dc1 shells in Ireland, mightend be stitch welded but can't go too wrong for €1000
I have smg2 2003, completely stock. Had it since 2008. Bought it on 16k mile and has about 70k on it now. nice one Danny. good balanced comments.
Nice review
Just wow. What a car!
Good car with nice color and nice sound of engine. I Yearn to English countryside. Beautifull!
thanks!
beautifull →beautiful
Your dad lives in the same village as me .. cool il watch out for you another top vid dan 👍🏻
"Touch wood, umm."
Clearly goes for his crotch.
The overtake though
What a gorgeous car, one of my all time favorites! I wonder why BMW's of today dont look this clean... Enjoy the car!
am never first lol one day ! love your vids danny loved my m3 enjoy it mate there good cars wit bit of bad rep vanos subframe ect ect i drove mine for 50 k hard mile never once let me down sold it with 139k miles good ones are solid cars.. i want to sell f30 328i am get another e46 m3 as investment car best car iv ever owned
Nice, that's some time in one!
I regret selling my E46 M3. Worst mistake in my life
Another cool vid .. im from that village dan
Please can you do a video on nurburgring tips, traveling, booking, car prep etc. etc. you mentioned a while ago you might. i would be really interested.
Where exactly can I buy the rack? Would love to get my hands on one.
Square set up looks good
Excellent video, appreciate your feedback after 1 full year of ownership! Did you happen to get any work done concerning RACP repair/reinforcement, say, by Redish? I'm in midwest USA with an 04 M3 myself.. about to perform full suspension refresh but possibly needing to face the rear subframe issues before new suspension parts go in. Great news you're keeping and fixing the Type R, looking for ward to the repair videos
Veteran Of Channel ! :)
Hiya Dan, I was wondering what you do when it comes to insurance for your cars? are they all on a multi-car policy or do you individually buy policies for when you need them and just have your no claims on one of them?
Totally agree on the sport button I prefer without
You just don't know when you're at WOT with the sport button, prefer the longer linear travel without!
DannyDC2 I think I looked at the tables and it doubles the early values to make it feel responsive so WOT is still where it should be but I was the same I just prefer the linear range it feels easier to modulate
Sick car mate. Not anything on the volvo, but it's alright😉
like the m3 as well, but the road tax here in Ireland is to night around 15000 per year
I saw your car is quite tail happy at track days. Is this something to do with that faster steering rack?
Spoiler alert...
favourite scene comes just after 12:38 . Get back!😂
TheMick26 ffs had to wait all that time, and all I wanted was that 30 second blast LOL 😂😂
I would've been shitting it in Dan's position there. I've no trust for other cars in positions like that.
bilal hussain like your mother
Ffs i want one again now talked myself out of owning one due to to many issues.I like the 18s square stance and how it sits with the bc and Porsche brakes
Your hair looks very nice.
Hi Danny do you find the purple rack interferes with the traction control on the road a lot more than the original rack?
Hey buddy. Im building a similar spec e46 m3. How are you liking the BC coilovers? i was thinking of going BC with SWIFT springs. Also are your tires a 255/35 or a 265/35? Love the car. Thanks bud
Which rotors do you now use with those Porsche calipers? Thinking about doing the same upgrade.
Fucking awesome this m3. With that square set up it seems beautiful. Cheers mate
Would you have an e9x m3 over the e46?
I know you said you were a worrier, I myself worry alot as well. Having said that, have you reinforced your RACP(rear floor board)> Also, Have you addressed the vanos issue (seals, exhaust hub tab breaking off, etc.)?
Any input is appreciated as I am going through a similar process as yourself. my car doesn't have any issues however, I want to make sure I fix things before it gets bad.
Some of the roads round Ackworth aren’t too bad😉
Danny, Can you tell me a little more about what you did to your Exhaust? You said it's an OEM System but "debaffled Slighthly" ?
Car looks epic as always, the 18s do so much, I was never a fan of the 19s, or all diamond cut wheels really, perfect ride height too.
You did the m3 right with the bits you upgraded, must be a lot of fun to drive, would love to own one some day, and that color is just the best.

Lol I have a Recaro spare but I like the OEM feel for now. Plus if I fit a Recaro, I may as well remove the back seats... slippery slope.
what is your tire and suspension settings? looks very nice
Jayemm has just filmed mine today mate 👍🏽top bloke just like he is on his channel. He should be uploading in the next fortnight.
cool!
Decent roads them that hills a decent overtaking hill always go that way to xscape from Barnsley! Where abouts did you live in Barnsley mate?
Just measure it up and see if the chassy is bent. If it is streight and true, fix the rust and have fun with it.
Time flies, M3 is definitely a good car. Look forward to more stuff whether its DC2 or MR2 etc. Any plans to get back into drifting or other sports (Hillclimb, autocross...)?
Not at the moment.
Hi Danny, do you have any particular thoughts on mk1 mx5s? as a young driver and new to the car modding scene ive been really enjoying my time with mine :)
What's the insurance like for you on the mx5?
random guy 123 i have 1 year ncb and it was £1300 for a 1.6
i did have a box for my first car which helped
Missing mine. In for manual conversion. Loved SMG but looking forward to a clutch.
SMG died?
Yeah bro. CSL SMG tune, 6 year thrashing it. Put 60km on it. Accumulator & pump issues. Better to just swap it, (good excuse). Loved SMG though, would buy one again if I had to. I have afew questions.... Do you think 18s are better than 19s square setup? Also what settings do you run your dampers for toad/track, Cheers.
I think 18s will always be better full stop, but its subjective. Dampers usually fully soft on the road then just increase on track as needed.
DannyDC2 aye I'll see what i can find as I've buckled my 19s drifting crash lol. Yeah that's how I have the dampers aswell. Cheers.
Martin
The E92 is a better car there is no doubt, and the V8 is amazing, but they are very heavy!
Can you tell me exactly which model of the steering rack you are using? You can give me a link with model of steering rack Thank you
If money was no object, would you go for coilovers made by KW over BC or another brand? With the recaro fixed bucket seat you have, is it impossible to access the rear seat on the driver's side? Also, would you consider getting yourself Evolve's carbon airbox?

"Obviously it's not alright. It's pretty fucked" lol. So good. Fire away, Danny. It's your Integra at the end of the day.
Pretty sure I remember you trying to get some amber blinkers on this M3 and it looked wicked! I just forgot why you didn't mount them?
They were the wrong fitment type. Apparently 2002 was the crossover year and mine had the newer style or something. Got a 2002 E46 too and it’s frustrating how much stuff crossed over that year! Makes ordering parts a little more tricky.
DannyDC2 Totally agree with the ambers on the E36 but i saw a picture of an E46 M3 (in your colour) with ambers and i loved it😉. Also loving the videos btw!! Keep up the great work

Nice slides at the ring!!
"Purple Tag 067" rack is the one you want. Plenty on eBay :)
Have a 2002 M3 Cab Presently 92,000 kms. Been a dream. Just sold may 2006 760iL after ten years and it was a dud.
can you run the rear 18s in the front with stock suspension without any rubbing?
Damn, now I kinda wanna do the steering rack mod. But i'm such a rookie!
You back on that creeeteeeeen lawd?
the monster is inside of me
Currently saving for an e46 m3, I have read all the horror stories.

I’ll give google a go too
Cheers again
So..do you guys not have any radars in the uk, judging by your driving on public roads? :D
Bollocks !
You're a proper BM driver as well, not indicating at roundabouts or junctions and putting lesser cars like that citroen in their place
i have an e46 m3 aswell my EML light came on and off once or twice which is probly the tps sensors, u mention headgasget is expensive 🙀 how mucg bout is it cause i thought its a quick fix
Care to explain what was done to the OEM exhaust? I'm interested in the mod as i dont care to pay >$1000 for a muffler. But it sounds like this and an AR20 might be a good option. Cheers!
I don't know fully, it's a PCW exhaust I bought already done. You might be able to find more info from Googling PCW E46 M3 exhaust...
Can you elaborate on your exhaust? I don't understand what you did to it to give it that extra bass, I have pure OEM stock system as well
The backbox has been cut open and pipework reorganised. I'm not sure exactly what was done
