Thumbs up for a guy who has spare Recaros sittin' around.👍😆
A wise man once said, "not modifying your car is like not shagging your bird to keep her fresh for the next bloke." - bugger resale values, I approve of this.
+bashes1 that was the kind of quote I wanted to use on the intro but it's a bit too long 😳
"Life's too short to worry about resale values." Good quote. Let the mods begin.👍 Hey Danny.🙋 Do what makes you happy, man. You'll definitely get more joy out of driving the M3 while you're sitting in it, not on it. The Pole Position is a nice addition, in my opinion. Plus the seat swap saved a few kilos. Good to see the car gods and Mother Nature approved as well.😉 BTW, I noticed you more active in the comments section, which is impressive, considering how many you get per video.👏 Thanks for taking the time to do this, mate.👊 Cheers!
+TheMick26 no worries man, and thanks back for always taking the time to leave a proper comment/review! 😉
A different seat makes the world of difference to a car. I had PPs in my old 996, superb.
i love the random tyler instrumentals in every video! keep it up
+bombz I'm going through a phase
DannyDC2 yeah thought so :p
Liking before even watching because Recaro Pole Positions are the best
+David Going correct!
This is a true car enthusiast kudos to you bro.
And so it begins ....
Nice work dude. The seat looks class, and I totally agree with the sitting on as opposed to sitting in. The seating position is so important, I'm glad it worked out. And just remember who's car it is, you do what you wanna pal. 👍
The seating position is double important mate. As is the seat itself!
You said exactly what i say, sitting in the car rather than on it. I have leather pp's, i feel sooo connected with the car. Mega!
Danny 😂 I comment on a lot of your videos about how funny they are honestly you have me in stitches all the time 😂😂 "let's see how heavy this seat is, ahh fuckin hell" 😂😂
+Reece Bristow 28kg feels heavier these days 🤔
DannyDC2 never stop your videos man! Love every one of them great job 😂
Don't forget the subframe jobby before you do any serious track work in it.
^^ this
Don't worry I haven't haha.
Trowel on a bit of bondo she'll be right
I completely get it bought my new car a few weeks ago and was in standard mode as soon as you start to change things it becomes your own car not a generic one on the road so keep on going lad 😁
Love it. Amber corners and black OEM 19" inch wheels and you've got yourself a winner :)
Love the trailer for the next video :)
+driftingmindz_jp I'd never put black wheels on this. Estoril Blue needs silver wheels imo
Yes. Silver looks good. I just don't like the chromie fo da homies finish on most of the OEM M3 E46 wheels :P
Keep up with these videos mate, loving it!
The reason the seats are different is because ones a pole position and one is a furious. The furious is basically a wider version of the pole
+JackPayne91 yeah but it was the actual mounting holes were slimmer at the rear, so the mount wouldn't have been flush. Will have to use a longer bolt with a spacer or something between the frame and the seat
My try a Recaro In my Lancia. Im finding I'm sitting on instead of in too. Will have to do some research
Epic seats, dunno if they'll work well in a Lancia but it's gotta be worth a go...
Only you dan will remove a seat and not hoover before placing in new seat 💺 haha fuck re sale enjoy it 🤙🏼
Haha it didn't even cross my mind, is that bad? I made a video though, priorities etc.
Impact gun is sold out, now look what you've done Dan! lol
Yeah I kinda jumped the gun before they were back in stock with this vid. They should be back in stock tomorrow.
Japan Schale means Japan bucket/case. In english its bucketseat and in german its called schalensitz
+Flooty3 thanks! That clears it up 😀
That title makes me happy
+TheHK2127 I wrote about 5 titles before picking this one 😂
Liking all the Tyler the Creator creeping into these videos
+Danny Rhodes gotta mix it up
the narrower seat is FIA, the wider one is ABE/TUV(roadlegal)
Sat on it, rather than IN it. Spot on.
Yeah, sorted now!
4:01 thats what i always say, if its a bolt on and off thing its no but fucking deal, you can get the leatherseat back in later if you like and there will be no proof of there being a recaroseat at all!
Haha it would be hard to sell this car I think what with me filming it so much. If I actually wanted to buy it for an investment I should have never put it on here etc.
I'm thinking about getting bucket seats for my e46 m3! Your video definitely persuaded me more haha
Get it done, just don't cheap out on the seat.
The start of the next track car..mmm..M3...its a good idea to save the original seat.So good idea to take the original one out,and keep it.First part of weight reduction is done less 28kg seat!!As you said feels now more like a race car with that seat in,yes I would lower the M3 just a bit.Maybe do the left seat too to Recaro..so that you mates can join you and less 28kg..Thanks for replaying more om comments.
My passenger last night loved having a heated seat, so I think only the drivers seat will change for now!
Guess its best to keep a chilled mates bum warm then..all good.
Get the standard 18's mate. I ran them on my estoril e46 with coilovers and they were a lot more comfortable, and with the drop and spacers the look awesome. Go for 4 rears, badass. 👌🏼
+Craig Minto yeah those would be ideal mate if I could find a set for sale! Don't want to have to buy 2 sets of staggered ones 😂
Interior going in the DC2, engine coming out the DC2, and interior starting to come out of the M3.............. I smell M3 track car coming!
Nah man not in the slightest. Maybe in the future sure but not until I'm done with the DC2. We have unfinished business.
DannyDC2 what's the engine coming out the Teg for? What's the plan?
his gearbox broke
I've come to love that E46 boot sound
+Louie K allow me to play the song of my people
Extra street cred if you can pull of a Darude - Sandstorm rendition using it
+Louie K I'll add it to the list
dan... for q and a you may do?-have you noticed that your trying to make the teg more driveable on the road..and you dont want to go too far on the m3 so that you can still drive that on the road yet i reckon youll still do quite a bit to it.. you may end up with 2 nice road and track cars? rather than the 1 for each purpose (out n out track teg, drift e36 n m3 daily)
is that a question or are you predicting the future. I think the latter is going to be true. DC2 will always be that bit more extreme though.
DannyDC2 You have good taste in cars
Cheers Mark. Simple really... they must be good.
drifting is cool and all but I would much rather see track battles. Either way channel is sick and I would watch regardless.
+presteronetj well thanks for putting up with the struggle along the way. I would love to do track battles everyday but life gets in the way. Well having to go to work etc. I guess this channel is more about what I'm upto with my cars now than just Integra onboards. There's still plenty of old school early trackday videos on the channel if you go back far enough 😊
+1 on fitting OEM 18's. They look so much better and out of the E46 M3's I've seen, they must be the rarer option?
Yeah they are rarer. It was the early 2000s and Max Power was still pretty big. 19s sold well.
Buy a CSL air box, transforms the sounds and throttle response
And 18" square set up and lowered would look phenomenal
+Asif Mohammad yeah that is the ultimate oem setup, on a set of eibachs maybe. I'm reluctant to go for coilovers right away.
If it was mine i would do wheels + tires, good brake pads + brake fluid, springs, induction and exhaust. All by this order.
But it's not mine so.. Yeah.. Ha! Really liked the seat changing, i bet it drives better now.
+ManiacPT that's pretty much the order I'm thinking.
Its the best recipe, and thats the way i think with my cars tbh.
There's a cow in your boot!
My opinion would be clear indicators (all round) smoked looks dirty. And some apex Rc8's and tint the windows and job done!
Interesting sneak preview of the dc2!
Yeah I don't like the depos at the front at all.
DannyDC2 Did you get a warning light on the dash cluster pop up after taking the seat out? I got a airbag warning light when I did this to my audi.
I have a set of staggered oem 18's with decent tyres for track use and they are great. I find the standard seats really unsupportive too so may look into an aftermarket seat myself. Do what you want with the car bud, life is indeed too short! Enjoy it for what it was intended.
+Jordan Hammill exactly pal. You gotta enjoy what you've got while you can.
Got those leccy seats in my Touring, better fit in there. Would have done the same for the M3 as they are far heavy and sitting lower with the car too. Yep would change to the factory 18's, not my cuppa those 19's. Those smoked front indicators though Dan, they need to go pronto ;)
+alr1ghty I know about the depos I'm not a fan at all. Just keep forgetting about them 😂
definitely go down to 18" wheels
agreed
Bring back the horn they were playin at the beginning
Did you comment on the wrong video?
Awesome Danny, you've answered a question on which I was asking for ages. If the e36 omp base would fit a e46 m3.
And thankfully it does👍 can finally fit in my bride seats into my m3
+Mabs Kha haha no worries! Be aware though that the seat was high in the sky. No one above 6ft would enjoy driving it
Get it turned into a track monster! Some coilovers and nice 18s would be a great start 👌
+adam muirhead nahhh. I just want it to be fast on the road. With the OEM suspension it's great at that.
DannyDC2 yeah I used to have one and it was a fantastic car for flying about public roads! 3rd gear was the one that encouraged you to lose your licence though haha
I had the same issue with that exact Recaro trying to fit it in to my EP3, had to give up in the end, glad I wasn't just being a mong!
+Motor Spirit EP3 haha no way! I thought I was being a mong too so pissed about with the rail for ages thinking I'd fitted fit on the piss!
That m3 tho❤️. Nice vid man, keep it up
A BMW Good video. LOL appreciate the recommendation on the rear wing spoiler. I ended up making one from the Prelude that I had on to the factory ek9 spoiler. Turns out it works out great. Trying to learn how to fabricate and do most of the parts and work myself
That sounds pretty unique. How did you calculate the downforce etc?
DannyDC2 ; after I did all the fabrication and installation of the spoiler. I parked the car on a flat surface. And used a level to make sure it was on a tilt. Then I put a marble on there to see what direction it would roll off. Then hit it with some water to see what direction the water went. Then of course I got it in some high-speed corners and you could feel a big difference. The back was very stable.
First mod I did to my otherwise stock S2k was a Recaro SPG. You're just so much more attached to the car that you can really enjoy the stock setup. I've done a few track days now with stock suspension as it felt so good and fun to exploit (vids on my channel...). Maybe throw some good pads in there to take the temps and see what you think as is?
+andyhbo86 yeah agreed, it was a bit of an eye opener to how good the stock setup was. A decent set of tyres first then we can see how it copes with more grip.
18s would be a good idea. Personally, anything bigger than that is just posing.
agreed
Momo wheel next like jacksons
nah like cruise control
Just go full track slag, best colour, best shape, look naughty as out in full beast mode😍
For the q+a If your 3 current cars didn't exist what cars would you be driving ?
E90 M3. Presuming I can have the money from the sale of my 3 cars? Not that I've been doing the numbers or anything...
haha good choice
Not to mention the weight savings... Definitely tyres + wheels next - no-brainer.
Also, consider getting the Bilstein B12 Sport shocks with eibach springs; they're not coilovers but they're exceptional. I have them on my 325i.
+Johnny D Legend I really like the OEM suspension, I think I'll do the tyres first and see how the suspension feels then
Them bolts need to be 10.9 grade at least, just because they are a safety item. Great video as always though :).
I'm not sure what they were to be honest. Just standard M8 stainless ones from screwfix I believe.
46 and 36 seats fit each other - i have 330ci in my e36 and about to put my recaro on custom e36 rails into my mates 46 - all you have to do is enlarge the rear holes to fit 46 seats...
powdercoated silver oem 19" wheels look so much better than the gash diamond cut.
din nr its needs a set Apex Rc8's
+din nr agreed, these were redone not too long ago so don't look nasty at least. Well they look nasty but they could be worse.
Schale translates into the shape of the seat
Ah. In relation to it being slightly narrower at the arse maybe?
Possibly. Schale is basically 'A bowl' in German. So this looks like a bowl standing up.
Ahh Dan is that a supermarket trolley ding on the rear arch?
No, at least I hope not. I'm watching the video now and thinking the same. I'm sure I'd have noticed if it was
Could've been the lighting, anyway hope is all well, such a nice colour
I know it's not an m3 but I have a clubsport e46. And it's had a few things done to it, like coilovers, 18inch BMW cls wheels etc and it handles brilliantly and the ride is really good. Just thought you might of wanted some feed back from a similar car with the mods you want to do to yours
+Lewis F what coilovers?
DannyDC2 they are eibach pro street coilovers and bilstein b6 rear shocks. Also has eibach anti roll bars
you should get some rims next, those Recaro's look great
I love the recaro pole postion seats looking to get me one for my old DA-9,used that is, fucking expensive brand new mate! Fucking BEEMER!(LOL!) is looking class mate! Cheers! ✌👍☝I bet it feels way better taking them corners now cuzz!🏁
+Oldskool DA9 thanks man. Yeah it feels much better in the bends. It's made me realise how good the factory suspension is!
Cool M3....like the background....
just be quite it will be fine love it
I need to come find these roads! Look awesome
They're epic, and I've only just started exploring them.
DannyDC2 where abouts are they? Wouldn't mind a run around in my 235i
My trunk does the exact same sound
The OEM 18s are great if you find them, the 19s don't feel right. Also look into getting an eventuri intake sounds great.
I almost bought one last week, but there are other places where my money would be better spent for now!
Looks Great Dan
OEM 18s ftw. Don't some people run a square setup with 2 sets of the rear (wider) wheels? Might need to camber the front out a lot...😬👌
+James Baggaley yeah they do and it looks awesome.
Alright Dan, enjoying the vids...track action was good! Just wanted your opinion on a car...I own a peugeot 306 gti6 and i love it...think I've seen one in your older vids and wondered if you'd driven it and what your opinion is? M3 is sweet man!
Yeah I like the 306 GTi6's, good cars. As long as you like it what else matters?
Nice video Danny and good tool that ,
Like your videos because they are honest and to the point,
But much prefer the teg , that's just me , but I like watching your videos even if it's a BMW 👀
+leej8 cool man, I don't know why people feel the need to tell me what the prefer, I'm never going to make videos based on what people want to see 🙃
DannyDC2 Well that's not cool ? Make ur videos the you want all you like but is a fan bass not to be listened too?
Getting to big for your boots if you ask me ,
Unsubed because of your big head .
DannyDC2 haha keep it real my friend , I wasn't asking you to make any kind of videos, I was just telling you that the ones that interest me more as in , I prefer your honda videos as to others,
SICK! LOL
Should defo get the new PS4's on those rims mate..I've got them on the rear of my M3 cabrio and the car is like a fkin gokart now! Once the fronts shed a few more mm of tread I'm gonna throw the brand new PS4(S) on the front as well. Standard brakes and suspension on mine too, and like you I've thought about coilovers but the stock ride is fine for me. Think at most I'll maybe throw on some eibach springs to ground it out a little. Our roads are crap up here so no need to go any lower than the 20f/10r drop on the eibachs! Unless your thinking of track mode I would leave the brakes as they are. Only heavy street use (twat mode more like) would make the OEM setup suffer from heavy fade. Enjoy!
I had the PS4s on my 330d, they were epic, will definitely be sourcing some I think.
Hey Danny! I was wondering what mounts and brackets you used. You said you used a Recaro Side Mount and OMP brackets, but which ones specifically, if you recall? Thanks a lot! Looks great!
Strategically placing the seat in front of a massive dent in the arch. Is that new? Or there before?
+Harry Tsang no dent
DannyDC2 ah fair enough. Thought that was a dent at 0:48
I thought the same until Danny moved the seat.
E46 M3 and a DC2. dream garage right there. _fuck me insurance is expensive for young people_
It is, but oh well.
Car looking sick dude am actually a fan of the 19s imo can't wait to see the engine coming out the teg you going down the same route as josh????
No mate had some issues with the gearbox and I have a few new parts to fit so made sense for it all to come off
DannyDC2 awwwww a see dude 👍🏿
Yeh I get it but should of got a leather one keep it sort of the same I think, I would lower it different wheels etc.
That's what he said!
Looks awesome man. I really want to put a bucket in my Mini Cooper s as the Oem seats are not good at all.
Highly recommend it.
How tight are you in a pole position? I'm a bit bigger than yourself but I'd love one them
I'm pretty loose in one but its super comfortable, that's why I bought the Profi SPGs for the DC2.
DannyDC2 problem being I don't know anyone with one over here so it's tough to know what I'll fit in and what I wouldn't. I'm sure the specs are online somewhere
OEM 18s for sure, will look mega
Agreed
Also I recognise your username from somewhere... 👀
you'll be tracking it soon!
+12H8Bates nah, not while the Integra is still in town.
thanks for the video! Quick question - how did you connect the ABS sensor plug so that the ABS is still operational? Cheers
I would love it if you did a track day in the m3.
One day that'll happen for sure.
Dan you'll also find mate that using a stock wheel with a bucket always feels way off in comparison to using and aftermarket wheel - I'm 6ft8 and have always found this to be the case. once I change to an aftermarket wheel it feels at home once again
+Otacon agreed the E36 feels way better but I can't change the wheel, I use the multi function controls too much on the daily drive!
yeah that's fair enough mate! it's a way nicer wheel than any 36 wheel and is quite functional. im thinking of putting my recaro back in this weekend and selling my 330ci seats to my mate and just swapping to whatever cloth passenger he has in the meantime then just chucking another SR2/3 Recaro in when I can find one. I have a pretty rare custom order one with no bolster wear or damage with all the anti tear jazz on it. i've had it 5 years and although it's slightly too small for a longer journey you just cannot beat it for short ones in my 36 even with 36 way D2 pro drift coilies on the stiffest setting haha the 330's sit too high for me and sliding about does my nut in!
DannyDC2 Im quite lucky for good backroads/country roads as i live in the lake district but it allways pisses down here :(
It's been raining all week here. Friday night was the only clear night we've had.
Estoril! Best colour 💪🏻
Shame every BMW is this colour now.
"Just be quite and go with it" 😂
Square Oem 18's look the best on the e46. 19's are gash
Nice video dude!!
+Ben Shields cheers Ben 👍
Hi DannyDC2 famous RUclipsr. Recaro is good mod but when are you going to supercharger your M3?
I'm not.
Me no understand.
why are you taking out the k20? Are you gonna put a b18 back inside? Would love to see that.
Lol no, that will never happen. Just have a few bits to do.
Thats a sparkle back recaro pole position.. extremely rare. Ive seen them in stickydiljoes videos before in Japan. Maybe he could share some more insight into its origin.
+James Grant it's cool as fuck. I want it in the M3 so bad. Need to order some mounts.
Coilovers ruined mine as a road car. I really rated the OEM suspension as a road setup
+Adrian Cox that's exactly what I expect to happen, so I'm reluctant. If I got coilovers on it, I want it to be because I feel the need, for track or whatever. Then I could buy something properly good for it. I'd feel wrong cheaping out on parts.
Get a set of m-paras (style 37) from an e39. Best OEM wheels. They are some of the only forged bmw wheels, they have a nice tasteful offset, and are some of the best looking imo. Only problem is the center bore is a strange size, not sure if it matches the e46.
I'm torn on that M3, part of me agrees with what your doing by now deciding to modify it but part of me thinks that a clean genuine E46 M3 is hard to come by these days, and maybe you might be better off with a tattier example for modifying as we all know 2 years down the line its going to have a cage, alcon brakes, kw suspension, more track battle scars than you care to remember, 5 trips to the Burg' under its belt and then it wont matter it was a clean example when you bought it.
Who knew the guy with a scrappy 200sx would be a purist haha
+TheLukeDrift yeah that's true but you could say the same about my Integra and I don't regret that one bit. The DC2 was an original 2 owner car with full Honda history. Absolutely immaculate when I picked it up. Would be worth about 7k now if I'd have kept it mint and original. Unless Sam Ratcliffe is going to put his car up for sale soon I'll keep mine for the journey 😊
OEM 18" M3 wheels ride soooo much better and still look the dogs!
Agreed!
DannyDC2 i live in Harrogate too coincidentally, I have a Techno violet E36 M3 evolution that's fully restored and is my pride and joy if you ever want to hit the Dales roads for an M3 special vlog? A mate of mine has an original E36 328i sport too and we often head out for a blast that way
Nice video! Do you have a locking arrangement on your regular seatbelt? :)
Yes, it came with the car. It's similar to a CG lock. Will be good for Nurburgring trips of the future!
hi did you get any lights on the dash from unplugging the drivers seat, and is it much lower ?
Alright Dan, I have an ep3 with dc5 recaros and absolutely love the way the seats feel in the ep3, I've just bought e46 330ci as a second car and want to do the same by fitting a recaro seat init, any help on seat rail for fitting and which recaro would you buy. Thanks man
Recaro Pole Position always for me mate. I might even put some back in the Integra. Not sure on rails to be honest, the OMP one was far too high so wouldn't recommend that. I'm just going to get fixed ones now.
I see you've found the Pateley to Grassington road...have you tried the run out to Hawes yet? (It's even better I assure you)
+William Oakes possibly! I don't really know the road names. We just usually go for a drive and stop when we see a pub.
How would such seats be for a daily driver? On long road trips?
I think you should get aftermarket wheels tho 😎
