@@AskGolfNut Oh, I gave the video a like ... wish I could find a link to buy a set! Searched Temu here in the US and to no avail. Found some Tour Edge & Toup Hdge clubs though😂
Exactly. They are fleecing people, then acting high and mighty about it. I'm still using my Nike CPRs from 2006 and destroying my friends with $1500 sets....
The mainstream manufacturers do have much higher overheads..... Yep I know partially it's their own doing with multi million dollar deals on tour... But they have building, staff, logistics and R and D to pay for which ultimately means the retail costs increase. These guys have very very low overheads and I don't know where they manage to get the product from 🤷👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut They are probably made in the same factory as the real ones The heads only then they just put the shafts and grips at another place happens a lot in clothing
No one was stunned more than me 🤣 although I'd be concerned that I just had a lucky set..... This could very well be a quality and durability lottery 🤷👍🏻
@@AskGolfNutI’ve seen authentic clubs have more deviation from “specs” than then knock offs. And when dealing with high end manufacturers, it still take weeks to get fixed or just take the KO ones to a shop and have them adjust loft and lie and maybe even new shafts and still save money
@@PNW_Sportbike_Life there isn’t, if anything they are better than real p790’s I bought them and I swing them better than my buddies real p790’s now he’s debating on selling his real ones to get a set of these
Tempting if you are prepared to risk the £250 to start with i guess........ It was a massive gamble deciding to get these, I'm glad I did to give them a thorough test. Defo an option for a golfer that hasn't got the money to ever think about buying anything new and would be looking at the ebay of marketplace areas 👍
@brendanmuldoongolf9613 that and logistics, buildings, manufacturering, research and development, staff salaries etc etc.... The pains of operating a company the size of TM 👍🏻👍🏻
The Chinese now produce fakes that are exactly the same as the originals. They are called super-fakes. An example, my girlfriend bought a super fake Hermes bag paying $1000 (retail price at Hermes shop $10,000) then she went to an official Hermes shop with it. Actually the sales people complimented her on the .... beautiful bag
I'm with a few other comments here, if you've gone to the trouble of buying them, this really could have done with length, loft, lie and swingweight measurement comparisons. Either way, i think these irons along with the Kirkland's , Eleven driver etc show just how much we're being ripped off. A massive part of equipment cost is now covering marketing and player endorsements.
I am with you on the most part for your 2nd part of what you said. The 1st part I have to say that if it was essential that all the above needed to be identical then literally no reviews from any channel would be allowed to be published... The reason I do head data is to show that the delivery of say 2 compared clubs are as close as humanly possible. The shaft or setup of the club makes marginal difference to the physical ball when the delivery is matched. Manufacturers struggle at the best of times to give media, samples out to reviewers in any form of matching specs, let alone the preferential specs of the reviewer. Commonly it's, you get what you get and be grateful. So everyone has to do their utmost best with what they have and are given. I do try as best as I humanly can to ensure all my data is transparent and explained so any differences good or bad can be equated to a specific thing, rather than how most do, is review by feel and subjective conclusion. Thanks for the comment and for watching 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut My comment wasn't a criticism, it was just more to say that if lofts were checked for example it wouldn't necessarily done to see if they matched the real P790 , just more casen if they were roughly similar or gapped with the rest of the set. Likewise with swingweight....do you get one iron that's D3 and then another that's C9 etc etc
@GRIFF22 point taken 👍🏻 the set swing weights fine by 'feel'. Yes that's a very subjective test, but I felt no difference in the Gap test running from 5 to 9 iron. I think as a whole the set are built fairly well... All the heads were weighted differently with the differing lengths of shafts (swing weighting) also the lengths were off by a quarter inch short but that's also negligible... I didn't notice much if any difference 👍🏻
I suppose if you wanted to you could reshaft and make changes in the length and lie and regrip and have a significantly better club and still beat tm's prices.
Great review and analysis. I appreciate it. I purchased my retirement set of Callaway Apex DCB's off Ebay that were demo's. Most were never hit. I paid $80 a club. This was a couple years ago and I'm happy. I suspect that these type clubs would have served me just as well. Didn't want to take a chance on them plus I was able to get the proper shaft on my new demo set. Thanks again.
Absolutely right decision to make, you've got a great set of irons there in the right shaft also so no brainer, hope you enjoy them for many years to come 👍🏻
@StingiestInk0 I bought the “Super USD” Calong model (black with multi-colored “$”), which is left-hand only. I’m sure the RH Calong models are comparable. They are still holding up fantastic!
I just got those in Silver knockoffs through Temu. I like them! $225 for 7 iron set! I've owned "real" p790's and many other top tier irons. These Temu things I thought would be a scam but they arrived and I've played 4 rounds with them now. Took 2-3 weeks delivery, no description to speak of on specs lol. These just feel nice. Update! Now, 8 rounds on the irons. If I could post pictures here I would.
If there are club manufacturers making good performance clubs that are similar to the more expensive clubs but at a far cheaper price, then that can only be a good thing for beginners. If and when people want to upgrade, then there is the more expensive clubs.
Absolutely.... I really don't see the anger sometimes attributed to these types of irons as it allows people that were never going to be able to justify the larger spend on a 'real' set. Same argument for the Direct To Consumer brands... They aren't taking sales away from the big manufacturers, rather than giving another option to golfers that were otherwise looking at the 2nd hand market 👍🏻
I too am also not shaft sensitive. Whatever shaft is in there I’m normally good to use. If I had a preference it would be a project X 6.0 but as long as the shaft is decently firm I’m fine with them. Also goes to show you how people fuss so much over there specs when you’ve got a cheap head, cheap shaft and cheap grip yet it performs pretty consistent to the genuine shaft P790 with all the proper balanced shafts and grips. Golf equipment is expensive. I recently picked up a Takomo 101U 2 iron which if I would have bought off Taylormade would have been over double what I just paid for the Takomo. It performs great
Depends on how many are sold and how many have defects or not. Good thing is if they are sold on the 2nd market under the likes of say ebay, then they will then fall under the western worlds terms and conditions and so the ly have to be described accurately etc etc to be able to be sold 👍🏻
Good review. I do business with companies in china and I have some knowledge when it comes to products like this. Many companies produce many items in China for obvious reasons…mainly cost of manufacturing. However that does come at a price, there are little to no copyright protections in china, so when you turn over your design, specs, etc they are not protected. Items like your P790 irons are most likely the product of what is called a “ghost shift”. Let’s say the TM factory that produces the P790 irons is open from 8am-5pm (don’t quote me on that lol). When the day is done and the factory “closes” the ghost shift begins. This is where workers come in and make the irons you have in your hands using their own materials, paint, components etc. but using the TM molds. Often times these materials are less expensive and subsequently lower in quality. That is one issue. The other issue comes in quality control. Making sure that lofts, lies, swing weight, etc are all within manufacturer tolerances are not done thereby saving labor costs. The price is very tempting (for reasons stated) but you are definitely not getting the same quality of materials or quality control measures you get when buying a set from TM. That being said if you are a beginner and come across a set of knock offs that you like then it may be worth it. I will say there is more variability in quality when it comes to woods over irons. That may be worth a test as well. Keep up the good work 🏌🏻♂️.
great point, I think saving money on buying these 'fakes', you can then go get their lofts and lies checked and fixed. if it were me, I would buy the club heads only and then put 'real' shafts and grips on them. you would still be saving at least 500-800 dollars. the test would be if the club heads would hold over time but still for 250 bucks, you take the risk. if the club heads fail, buy 'real' heads and you can still use your shafts and grips. just a thought 🤔
@@AskGolfNut the second hand prices are nearly as expensive as the full price. I've got an Edel torque im putting pretty well with currently but my ADHD is kicking off and I need to change! Shot my best ever score at the weekend, so to need to try and keep consistent it was an 86 after 4 years of golf 🤣
I've done something similar in the past with limited viewing figures so have been reluctant to purchase anything retro from say ebay to test against if I was just wasting money buying equipment when I wasn't going to get the money back let alone a simple wage from my time making the content 👍🏻 But I'll see how things are going and may look into it again 👍🏻
Not everyone can afford or want to or care about buying and getting fitted for a set of TM or Titleist, there is def a demand for these so called "fake" clubs.
Absolutely, it does potentially give the golfer that was never going to justify spending $1000 more than these cost. They were never going to get the business anyways, what it may do is impact the 2nd hand market a little and then give even more options 👍🏻
When you take into account the millions TM spend on advertising, freebies to Pros, media stuff etc etc etc...the cost difference may not be as big as it seems. Only real concern would be how long it would take for a head to fly off or cave in..
@@AskGolfNutdo it, make a long going video of maybe 20-30 balls a day and make a video out of it. I keep seeing way too many biased reviewers out there to trust them. Seen some big names review clubs and claim that they’re going into the bag until you see them on new videos and they’re not.
I have a set of the Yamahero P790's. They are VERY good. However, like Jay says, the grips are trash. So, I regripped them myself with Winn Dri-Tac midsize. I also nipped the shaft down 1/2", per the fitting specs I received for my gamer set. Now, these P790's may go into my bag. Also, someone on here asked if the insert was rubbery or just a painted slot. The insert is actually rubbery, which backs up Jay's thought there is some "tech" in the Temu P790's.
Received them today overall quality is great! Had a issue with my 9 iron but contacted the seller and they are going to send a new one out Will update once I have a hit with them
Have been to the range and played a round and just wow they are great-I play around a 8 handicap and can tell you if you are looking for something budget but also still perform this is a great option
I would like to know the exact lofts of the Fake P790s and measuring would be awesome, also to proof the gapping. Many years ago I tried some fake Callaways and there was just 2 degree difference between 7 and 8, but up to 9 it was about 6 degrees between 8 and 9.
I’ve been to China many times and have been to malls with 7 floors of all knockoffs. Whether it’s bags, watches, sneakers and golf clubs. I’ve bought golf products back then and at that time I would buy irons, wedges and putters and all would perform great and last awhile. I never trusted driver heads, woods or hybrids but I think they r even better now. Iron shafts are good enough to play but would stay away from graphite shafts because the seem weaker in flex
I had seen these on Temu and was curious about them. They have since been removed from Temu. I would never personally order a set of clones without watching a legit review on them but sometimes you do find gems in the clone market. This seemed to be one of those.
I have a set of these, after 2 range sessions most of the faces started to dent inward. For obvious reasons I no longer use them. If you have a fast swing speed or are making good contact with the ball they will eventually dent inward, hence the price.
Interesting and not surprising if they are potentially some form of seconds from the actual factory... Obviously they may not be seconds at all and actually copied designs but with the quality control limits no where near the tolerances they should be. Although it's not like TM themselves haven't had their fair share of their iron heads failing.... Difference is I guess that they replace the clubs without question, where as its good luck buddy with these from an unknown location in deepest China 😊😊👍🏻
What would be interesting... 1) Checking the swing weight difference. 2) The weights of the heads (with shafts removed). 3) Cutting one open would be mega interesting, potentially shocking as well. 4) How they perform on course in terms of durability (playing out of sand or bad lies, see if it ruins the coating). If you're looking to give away or sell these, I'd happily replace my Ping irons for a few months and play them and provide you some longer term feedback! I'm around a 12 - 14 handicap so can give them a proper all over the face test lol. Cheers and amazing video as always, incredible content.
Hi Adam, normally I would NEVER entertain selling or moving on any media samples that I get for filming purposes. Even though the manufacturers never say that I shouldn't, I just feel that its morally wrong to do so. I feel I and no one else should profit from the selling of equipment that has been graciously given to me. HOWEVER..... I bought these out of my own money so may well consider re-selling them as personally I only bought them to do a video that I have been asked to do by so many people over the years. Reach out on Instagram if you wanted to chat further 👍
"Calong" that makes these version of 790 started their business as OEM manufacturer for named brands for long time. Their own brand's forged wedges are sold in U.S Amazon currently, shaped just like Vokey. Like you felt, shafts' quality is not good as pricey shafts ( just same level as economy shafts of Wilson, Lazarus, Ram), but Heads and better version of their grips are quite impressive, even in Q.C wise. They still OEM-produce for Japanese forged heads... SO they are different from other Chinese fakers and their heads + KBS shafts will be cheaper, but great option for hi & mid handy players for long time usage. By the way, there is no tungsten inside of this 790 iron tho...
@@youngkim4012 what else do you know about these irons?? i ordered them yesterday and they will be here next week. im upgrading from a old set of taylormade burner plus irons
Hi GolfNut. Can you post the Link to the fake P790 irons on this vid please, as I cannot find the irons on the Temu site..Maybe cause I live in Oz ? ? Cheers..
Okay, I’ve always scratched my head about the obsession around the kislux book totes and their practicality, but this one is adorable!! Congratulations
Henry lived in a yellow porkchop that flew over the orange ocean made of soup........ and that makes about as much sense as your comment.... These bots are hilarious 🤦
I'm just as shocked as you. But on the other hand, when I first started in golf I bought some custom made counterfeit Ping Eye 2 irons, and they were every bit as good as the Pings.
I think the main thing to take from this video for the golfers which may be considering these, is that the cost of these are right in the cheap 2nd hand sector and so for people concerned or manufacturers that may be concerned about these fakes that perform well, they were never going to justify the cost of spending 4 times the cost on new premium equipment. So in reality it's only the likes of ebay etc that may be losing out on any sales... This is a sample of 1 so I can't say, all will perform the same. But, as long as people know what they are doing then these and other like these are possible options 👍🏻
I think they look absolutely stunning, I agree with many others on here that we are definitely being ripped off by the manufacturers. Just out of interest had a look on the Temu app and couldn’t find them at all?
Those little iron covers are actually pretty nice. With the see through slot, you don’t have to make sure you use the right cover for the right iron. I’m not one who uses them, but if they were magnetic rather than velcro, I might consider it.
They have been around for a while now... I've always used head covers as I prefer to keep my irons looking as nice as possible. It's the same for the authentic Mizuno head covers yet they are much better quality, much more expensive, yet still use velcro rather than magnetic closing mechanism 🤷👍🏻👍🏻
TaylorMade has been using the speed slot technology for quite a while now, my 2016 M2 irons have them. They don't run thru the whole iron set only on the longer & mid irons. My TaylorMade M2's have them on the 4 thru 7irons ... but not on the 8iron thru Gap Wedge. Just like the real P-790's from the OEM, no speed slots from 8iron down.
Either I suppose, possibly more for somebody who bought the set for the heads but wanted a better shaft more suited to their game. Obviously I’m not a club fitter so I don’t know if heads can be fit into new shafts once they’re built especially with these fake heads. Especially if somebody had a spare shaft set going to waste or could pick them up 2nd hand
Depends very much so on tip size.... Would make a difference for the Average Golfer, luckily I'm not shaft sensitive so changing the shaft wouldn't make any difference to the test and results 👍🏻
@berto882: What you were not told is some company's sell heads only irons for less and you can then purchase a shaft of your choice. Also, every "fake head" we have seen thus far all used .370 tip shafts. Have not seen any that required a .350 or .355 shaft tip.
@@SharonGeorge-gu8lz thank you for the information, I’m not really sure what you mean when you talk about the shaft tips though. My question was more around if the fake heads Jay had or anyone can get are stuck to the shafts in a way that would mean upgraded shafts couldn’t be swapped into them
I'm sure the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Matthew Wolf, Jim Furyk, Lee Trevino et al would also be keen to have your Professional Swing analysis insight 🤣🤣

Thanks for that, it works most of the time..... Still have my moments though when I feel I can't hit a target for love nor money 😊 but that's golf through and through 👍🏻
For the record, My family worked for Taylormade in Taiwan, and those good "fakes" started to appear back in early 2000s as minor defect diver heads etc made in china sneaked out of factories, eventually, the factory would sneakly made additional parts beyond the order from TM and sell them on the side, and the "fakers" will buy those parts and made club out of it. A lot of those company disregard IP and and use 3rd party company to cover up the process. It is a hit and miss, but you can get genuine TM but no serial parts in those fake clubs but potentially with bad coating, grind, shaft/grip and bad workmanship. Once they are done with contract, they might continue to make slightly different parts (club heads, etc) for the older club designs for those cheap clubs.
They say Forged..... Although I wouldn't pay too much attention to that 😊 but if they are clones of the design then they may well be. Depends on how much you need to adjust them 👍🏻
I bought grips on temu and will definitely buy them again. They were golf pride z grip align's and they were about 8$ cheaper per grip and they are exactly the same and are not wearing down at all.
Interesting how Temu seems to be great at somethings and not so in others... 👍🏻 Keep the comments coming, would love to know your experiences buying golf related stuff from Temu 👍🏻
@@adamwagstaffe7786 played yesterday and today, these things are great lol. Mine came with dynamic gold s300 shafts too. But compared them to my buddies p790’s and just like in the video I can’t tell a difference between them.
Hey! does the speed slot material on the bottom of the 4-7 irons feel rubbery or is it just a metal cutout for the looks?? I ordered them and hope they are real speed slots
Durability with Black heads is always an interesting topic whether it's from a premium manufacturer or not as they will all wear in time, some more than others but you can't help that. Durability from a head defect wise as in will the faces start to cave in etc? Well that's very much so a hit and miss... TM themselves have had quite a few warranty claims with their products failing but they are brilliant at customer service so they just replace it. These, no one will be replacing anything... Pros and Cons, very much so up to the individual to make their own decisions 👍🏻
TaylorMade, Titleist, Callaway et al are an absolute rip off. If some knock-off Temu irons get you 90% of the way there for £1000 less, I say save the money and spend it on lessons.
There is also the distinct danger that the small amount of money that is spent is a waste if they turn out to be totally useless and are defective..... There's always as many if not potentially more cons than pros in these situations 👍🏻
They're built in the same factory. I buy Mulberry bags in Thailand, next to the factory that used to make them. Same craftsmen, same materials, same technology.
Interesting as I guess a bag is slightly easier to backwards engineer from a sample. These would take a little extra working out but one it's there then you can quite easily manufacturer them... My concern is for the tolerances on quality control. TM and alike are fairly tight with theirs, guessing a knock off factory have much lower limits to maximise output 🤷👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut Honestly, from the first shot you hit with them: that sounded as soft as a forged Miura Iron. Which the TM foam does to them. Also the toe shot forgiveness level would mean weight placement is almost identical, bar the shaft influence on dynamic loft: hence it would seem real tungsten in there. Just to machine the same tungsten shape/size would be an achievement that a small company could not do, unless it's sourced from the same manufacturer who creates the original p790s. Copying an MB or CB, even to forge isn't that difficult. But this seems to go above and beyond. I would be shocked at the engineering prowess of the Temu sellers if this is not made on the same production line as the originals.
I received my set of yamahero p790 blacks after sbout 5 weeks of shipping for $253. I played them 2 full rounds and very impressed. Only comparison i have is callaway epic forged and rpic fast. The 790 are 1 club shorter due to the 4* loft difference. I really like that they are more consistent, i get a few flyers with the callaways. The black Finnish is holding up really well too. Grips are better than taylormade or callaway original grips. Only con is the slow shipping.
One of my buddies bought the same clubs from Temu...he said the same thing, was pleasantly surprised on the look and feel of the clubs. He said it took about 2 weeks on the shipping.
@@rickdv123 I've played 3 rounds and no caving. My driver swing speed is 87 mph so I think I'll be ok. I love em. They are going for round 4 soon even though I have better iton sets.
Not surprised. All they did was reverse engineered the 2021 p790. Throw a bs shaft and grip, and sling them out. They do t have the millions of R&D cause they are just copying it. For someone that can’t afford 1500 for a set, seems like a great way to go. Especially since you could easily get whatever shafts you want and still save $800. But like you said TaylorMade has top notch service, no matter what the issue is. Friend just got a brand new qi10 driver sent out, br side he had an issue with his stealth. When I’m had my custom 790s built. They didn’t charge me for the grip change I made, even though it was $12 per grip more. For me I’ll pay for that service and piece of mind. But I’d also consider these for my son, since he’s growing still and also might not stick with the game
Very interesting. One of the biggest costs in manufacturing I would imagine is the forging process which would make it softer (but make it wear and have chatter also). The fakes sounded soft. Do you believe the fakes are also forged?
They certainly don't feel like a hollow bodied cast club, they would make a higher pitched ting at impact.... So my feeling is that these are forged 👍🏻
The problem is, the confidence you have in the trusted brand. I think these would be great for the guy that kinda likes golf but if you’re really serious, I wouldn’t at all.
I’d like to see a review after a regular player has been using these for a season. Maybe even just after 3 months. Takomo sells their 301 MB/CB for about $650 and I’m sure they make a nice profit. Why do the major manufacturers think that fleecing golfers for $1500 a set is a good idea? TBH, I have to put the blame on PXG. They were the first brand that really made it acceptable to charge ridiculous prices for clubs. The rest just followed suit. In 1989, I paid $325 for a slightly used set of Hogan Apex Redlines. That was spendy at the time. Prices on mainstream brands are out of hand.
Owned mine 3+ months, played 12+ rounds, and thousands of balls hit in my sim. They are holding up fantastic. I rebuilt them with progressive MOI & my preferred shafts. A huge shock they are this good to be honest. Even Takomo feels like a rip off…
@@Preston951 I got mine off the Calong Store on Ali about 5 months ago as well. Have played about 15 rounds so far and they perform well with no issues. The misses are my fault, but I see a lot of improvement on consistency and accuracy with these over my old clubs. I am a 10/11 HCP and I am totally fine with these clubs.
I bought these after watching your piece! I bought the black finish. They are stunning looking. They do fly nicely. I have not played them yet doing range work! Take them out tomorrow 9/15/24.
I am old fashioned so couldn’t bring myself to buy the Temu clubs, what disappoints me is TM went after Costco, do hear any chasing of TEMU, after all Temu is just Chinese amazon, so as a group you could sue, or have the clubs taken down. If we want R&D to continue, we have to pay for it. So my advice is, if you want cheap P790 buy Costco, TM think they are duplicates, and Costco has after sales service.
I'm bloomin glad they didn't 😊 They seem well built to be fair, cheap shafts and grips but they work and feel no different. Not saying all examples will be like mine though as I am a sample size of 1 😊👍🏻👍🏻
Maybe China should start their own legitimate club brand , with genuine shafts and imitation / or slightly different head designs but they could still use quality metal in forgings / casting but no marketing / sponsorships to keep prices low .
Guy who does my clubs loves these prices. He fits ppl into a lot of swing science clubs and other component part companies and he’s busier than he’s ever been. Not quite this cheap but there is customer service when things go wrong. Great video, jay!
There is something to be said about IP though, aside from marketing, R&D costs are just a different beast to copying, what's your thoughts on that? If we don't protect IP, why would anyone create, just wait and copy
I don't think Taylormade are really going to be phased too much by all of this.... Generally speaking people that are looking to buy cluns in and around the £250 mark would never justify spending on new equipment from the premium manufacturers so would otherwise be looking on the 2nd hand market. 👍🏻
That just goes to show me that that you don’t need a 1000 set of irons but it just something about have that 1000 set of irons that make me happy even when I hit a bad shot 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Im still gaming TM speedblades. They are 10yo and cost $500aud. That equates to $50 a year so far. I could resell at $350, still in great, condition as I use club covers...
Most people aren’t consistent enough to know the differences or that it matters that much. As long as the heads are good, spend the money saved on better shafts and have the loft and lie tweaked to your liking. This is being way too picky and I’ve seen authentic high end clubs be off from the manufacturer a lot.
Well I'll give you a little insider knowledge I have..... Retail cost of an iron let's say is £200. Standard Trade cost would be circa £130.....cost to the manufacturer is normally around half of trade. So circa £60. This takes into account logistics, transport, staff cost, buildings etc etc..... Multi million pound businesses have massive costs... 👍🏻
Resale isn't normally too much a factor on things like this due to the massively reduced initial cost. Worse case you'll lose £250, where on a £1200 set there is a larger dash margin depreciation. You are absolutely right though with the potential durability side of things and the possibility for material and design failures 👍🏻
The problem is that RnD is done by Taylor Made and the fakers just steal their product. TM then gets blamed for being over priced when they payed ALOT to develop the club in the first place.
Would be interesting to see if there is tungsten inside, as well as maybe the metals used for the head. Could be good at the moment, but durability could be an issue in the long run.
These clubs are technically not fake (counterfeit) because they don’t say ‘Taylormade’ on them. Counterfeit golf clubs are made to look as closely as possible to genuine clubs in order to trick people into thinking they are buying genuine golf clubs. The people making counterfeit clubs do not care about how the clubs perform. The people making knock offs/ replicas might.
I saw those and always was wondering because they look good. They would be a good brand new club option for my dad who's getting older and could careless about it
Absolutely, possibly an option with a graphite shaft would work better if he doesn't load the shaft as heavily as he used to. Not sure on what the availability of those are... Or could buy, pull the heads and install a graphite shaft of your choice that will fit the tip size 👍🏻
With anything like this, it is a huge hit and miss. You pay your money, you very much so take your chance. It could be a great buy or a total waste of money.... No real way to know what you are getting 👍🏻
There is one huge difference ladies and gentlemen it's called greed. Shaft prices, ball prices anything you buy from a golf shop is mega over priced. After seeing g this I hope Taylormade never sell another p790 club😂😂😂😂
I understand how you feel. If the big brands though didn't sell anything then there will never be anymore new equipment, new technology, new innovation. It would be bad for golf thats for sure. 👍🏻
@AskGolfNut I disagree 5-6 years ago I bought a brand new cobra F9 $450aud not $450 usd. Now cobra, taylormade, titleist, callaway brand new drivers are $900-1000 AUD. No other consumer product has doubled in price in a 6yr period. In comparison I bought the callaway apex forged irons 6yrs ago and 2024 callaway forged apex irons, very good irons maybe a 20% increase in the 6yr time frame.
But of course TM customer service is top-of-the-line. They charging you over $1000 more for a set of clubs that is already marked up at $250 so Taylormade is probably making somewhere around $1100 per set 😢
So I have a little inside info to balance people's opinions. Now this is for another brand that doesn't have the media/Tour outlay responsibilities that TM have so the figures will be worse for them but,....... Let's say a club retails for £200.....a set of say 7 irons... So £1400. Due to Sales VAT the retailer will be making around £45 in and around each iron so £315 per set. Leaving about £120 trade cost which is what the manufacturer would receive. In this example the iron costs them about 50% of trade cost with it's making, shipping, costs of the companies processes and responsibilities, so it leaves about £60 per iron profit. Now that's still fairly healthy considering the numbers they sell, economy of scale, but, other brands like TM spend more on marketing and Tour so they won't make £60 per iron, they will make less..... These other companies whoever they are have hardly any overheads whatsoever hence why they can sell them at these kind of prices 👍🏻👍🏻
Taylor made pay tour pros Millions of dollars and also millions more on advertising, that why their clubs are ridiculously priced. The review you done with the fakes was excellent.
Hmmmm yeah I've seen similar on Ali express myself.... Its just another avenue to sell them to the international community so same deals on their I guess 👍🏻
At the time of filming they were available on Temu, they regularly pop up on other places such as you mentioned. I put a screenshot of the purchase during the review to show. 👍🏻👍🏻
The speed slot on the fakes is a dead giveaway because it’s clearly not functional. it’s a stamp instead of a slot. Making it look like a p790 is essentially all that matters with the fakes. Not the technology.
Interested to think what everyone thinks that technology like the speed slot does? And depending on what people think it does, how would that be able to be measured using say a GCQuad? 👍🏻
With golf manufactures gouging like they have been lately I welcome anything that will compete and knock the prices down. It’s absolutely ridiculous that we now commonly playing $650 for drivers four to $500 for putters, on top of another $1200 for not even a complete iron set and then $200 apiece for wedges. A premium set with a bag and some golf shoes is costing you over $4000 right now, we see companies can do it for the price. Hopefully this will account the insane inflation.
There is conflicting opinion on golf club inflation and how expensive they really are, however, I do feel that these do offer another option for the golfer that was never going to justify spending large sums of money on equipment and would otherwise be looking on the second hand market.... A lot for the time, things that are considerably cheaper have their drawbacks so as long as any one goes into the decision with their eyes open then all is good 👍🏻
Awesome video. Did you happen to put the temu set on a loft and lie machine to see if there specs were consistent. Also if you do that, could you see if you can bend the 4 iron to adjust loft and lie?
Didn't attempt to bend them even though they say Forged 🤔🤔 I wouldn't assume they'll bend loads... They are all about 0.5 degree to a degree off what the P790s are (weaker). Absolutely nothing to consider in a test as most golfers deliver much larger loft discrepancies. I'm able also to match lofts in delivery within reason to compare directly 👍🏻

Just change the shafts etc, check the lofts, get ripped off by the major brands, if they work who cares

£250 vs $1399 extremely tempting.
Marketing and pro sponsorship add up to a lot of money. We are being ripped off big time.

@@AskGolfNutTaylorMade are made in China anyway, are they not?
@bibby65 I think that's where they get the majority of bits made from 👍🏻
The Chinese now produce fakes that are exactly the same as the originals. They are called super-fakes. An example, my girlfriend bought a super fake Hermes bag paying $1000 (retail price at Hermes shop $10,000) then she went to an official Hermes shop with it. Actually the sales people complimented her on the .... beautiful bag
They have been doing that for a long time, according to the book Gomorrah by Roberto Saviano
Originale werden ja auch in China gebaut😅 die Hersteller sind also selbst schuld😏
maybe from same factory, one with brand +1000dollar, one without brand name
Potentially so yes 👍🏻
Great review and analysis. I appreciate it. I purchased my retirement set of Callaway Apex DCB's off Ebay that were demo's. Most were never hit. I paid $80 a club. This was a couple years ago and I'm happy. I suspect that these type clubs would have served me just as well. Didn't want to take a chance on them plus I was able to get the proper shaft on my new demo set. Thanks again.
Absolutely right decision to make, you've got a great set of irons there in the right shaft also so no brainer, hope you enjoy them for many years to come 👍🏻
The Callaways are gone & I'm now gaming Calong Super USDs! 😂😂 Thanks for the detailed review mate.
These exact ones? Or another calong set?
Did you choose steel or graphite shafts?
I have discord where people can post pictures and chat in real time etc.... Link is in the description of my most recent videos 👍👍
It performs great
Thank you for doing this! What an awesome video !!

Wont be long untill these flood the used club market
Depends on how many are sold and how many have defects or not. Good thing is if they are sold on the 2nd market under the likes of say ebay, then they will then fall under the western worlds terms and conditions and so the ly have to be described accurately etc etc to be able to be sold 👍🏻
@@fourghtyeight48 these and other knock offs are all over Facebook Marketplace in Australia already
Would be really interesting to delve into this a bit more in the next Live Stream 👍🏻 👍🏻 👍🏻

If its ok I won't keep hitting them to see when a head flies off 🤣🤣

Did you do a physical lie and loft comparison? Like put each club in a lie and loft adjustment machine
Are the Real ones made in China, and if so have they just been copied?
Just a thought
TaylorMade has been using the speed slot technology for quite a while now, my 2016 M2 irons have them. They don't run thru the whole iron set only on the longer & mid irons. My TaylorMade M2's have them on the 4 thru 7irons ... but not on the 8iron thru Gap Wedge. Just like the real P-790's from the OEM, no speed slots from 8iron down.
Great review Jay, very impartial and informative. Do you think it would be possible to swap the heads into better shafts?
Do you mean for an average golfer to install custom shafts into the heads? Or do you mean for this test? 👍🏻

Durability with Black heads is always an interesting topic whether it's from a premium manufacturer or not as they will all wear in time, some more than others but you can't help that.
Durability from a head defect wise as in will the faces start to cave in etc? Well that's very much so a hit and miss...

@@rickdv123 I've played 3 rounds and no caving. My driver swing speed is 87 mph so I think I'll be ok. I love em. They are going for round 4 soon even though I have better iton sets.
@aholataken keep the updates coming 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
But I’d also consider these for my son, since he’s growing still and also might not stick with the game
there is no reverse engineering, the same factory made both. This has been going on for more than 15 years...
Even Takomo feels like a rip off…
@@Preston951 good to hear did you score of AliExpress or Temu ?
@jameslovering9158 AliExpress had the better pricing & more shaft options - I just ensured the seller was the official Calong store.
The bags are also impressive
Haven't seen the golf bags on there. May well be an option for a video, or even one of the cheaper Laser Range Finders 🤔🤷👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut some of the copies are excellent.
I bought these after watching your piece! I bought the black finish. They are stunning looking. They do fly nicely. I have not played them yet doing range work! Take them out tomorrow 9/15/24.
I have played them and like them better than my gamer PXG0211xcor2!
Great price and results but was waiting to see if a head was going to fly off and rip your screen 😂
I'm bloomin glad they didn't 😊
They seem well built to be fair, cheap shafts and grips but they work and feel no different.
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
There is something to be said about IP though, aside from marketing, R&D costs are just a different beast to copying, what's your thoughts on that? If we don't protect IP, why would anyone create, just wait and copy
interested by this video, with the law suit with Kirkland ongoing Taylormade should be flattered by all the copies going around.
Ever seen any left handed options? I’m struggling to find any on Temu, Ali express, or wish…
Can't find the yama hero on temu.
Im still gaming TM speedblades. They are 10yo and cost $500aud. That equates to $50 a year so far. I could resell at $350, still in great, condition as I use club covers...
Classic..... If its not broke don't fix it 😊
If they work, it doesn't matter how old they are... 👍🏻👍🏻
Most people aren’t consistent enough to know the differences or that it matters that much. As long as the heads are good, spend the money saved on better shafts and have the loft and lie tweaked to your liking. This is being way too picky and I’ve seen authentic high end clubs be off from the manufacturer a lot.
It is true that many amateur golfer over obsess about the pin point accuracy of specs which they themselves vary wildly between swings. 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut yeah, these are targeted at armatures, not pros so it doesn’t matter
Breaking the copyright laws.
I want to buy some of these now but I can’t find them on temu
Makes you wonder what the profit margin is on Taylormade Irons or all name brand products
Longevity and resale needs to be factored in.
Buy cheap..buy twice...
@@AskGolfNut Excellent point
Found a set for left handed on Temu but with no brand. They are identical esthetically. What is your feeling ?
Buy the Fake ones and put your shaft that you use for your regular club in the fake club.
Ali Express sells P770's for around $250 (w/shipping)...it has the same TM logo on the heads.
Hmmmm yeah I've seen similar on Ali express myself.... Its just another avenue to sell them to the international community so same deals on their I guess 👍🏻
Cant find these on Temu!? Are you sure its not bought on Ali Express?
At the time of filming they were available on Temu, they regularly pop up on other places such as you mentioned. I put a screenshot of the purchase during the review to show. 👍🏻👍🏻
ruclips.net/video/fTFzZe0sKqo/видео.html
Very interesting!
Glad you enjoyed the video 👍🏻
Would it make a noticeable difference on a bogey golfer? Or someone that plays par golf?
I would be curious to see if someone put a different shaft on it if it would fit.
Guy Canada
3D computer methods make them easy to copy, but they are probably poured into a mold. will they last less? I'm not an expert.
So are these forgiving enough for a mid handicap golfer! Thanks
Seems they are not listed anymore. Can’t find them.
They come and go with relative frequency, most probably stock related issues. Keep an eye on that and the likes of Ali express, same idea 👍🏻
There’s versions on EBay where they have tons of shafts options. But no clue if the shafts are real
I'd have a wild stab in the dark and suggest they wouldn't be authentic either 😁😁
You seem to be hunched over quite a bit. Do the knock offs come a lot shorter than most non fitted clubs?
No, that's just my stance and posture and also the camera makes it look more than in real life 🙂
Why would you not try them 🤔🤔🤔........ worth a look 🌟🎊🤩🥳
I just got mine in they are awesome!
