    I know someone in Australia that imports all brands of grips, he has been to the factory in China and all the top brands, cheap brands and everything in between knock offs etc are all made in the same factory.

    The thing is, if someone can produce a knock off grip for a couple of bucks, then so can Golf Pride. Just think how much money companies like Golf Pride are soaking from consumers.

    • @janbeaver2663
      @janbeaver2663 9 месяцев назад +2

      Sure, Someone can produce a knockoff using inferior materials, lesser manufacturing processes and pay much lower wages. Knockoff likely won’t last as long. This is often referred to as “lipstick on a pig”. I have friends who buy this crap and they spend more $$$ replacing this stuff than others who buy name brand products. I’m not saying this is true with everything but it’s true more often than not.

      I do think there is something to be said for reimbursing the company who committed the R&D dollars to those grips and other items. Sure, you can copy the grip cheaply, but you as a company making knockoffs didn't invest in the design and the testing of the product. So as the counterfeiter, you are stealing someone else's labor.

    It’s because I can’t afford £12 per grip from a pro shop Gazza…….I have just received 12 golf pride zgrip align cords for £32 off Temu delivered. If they are fake, they are a very good one. They feel pretty darn good on the hands for a fraction of the cost. I think the big brands (like Golf Pride) pricing their grips at 15-19$ per grip opened up the market for counterfeits. I feel like it’s not ok to invest 100-150$ to regrip an old set of irons worth a couple of hundred dollars. I liked the Champkey grips Wish had before but now I only find from Amazon? There is no reason the quality has to be lower at the price point, the main difference is it's coming directly from the manufacturer so what you save is the Brand and reseller margins.

    In Australia we pay approximately $38 to have 1 grip fitted

      Where are you buying your grips from!? There isn't a grip on the market worth $38 regardless of having it fitted. Buy it from a your local PGA pro and they'll fit it for free. Z Grip cord may be the most expensive and that's $33-$35 generally.

    If major manufacturers continue to be this greedy, then sites like this will continue to thrive! The major manufacturers are trying to convince us the raw products that they’re dealing with is way too expensive and that’s what is driving the price point then you have other countries producing the same thing for much less

      @@garymartingolf It was nothing you said. I was merely pointing out for anybody reading comments. Alot of big name tech and equipment is now made in the far east. It gets to Europe or the US and gets a big brand sticker applied and that doubles the price. I do a bit of shooting and you can pick up some real bargains. The same with football shirts now as well. £13 delivered to your door vs £80. I have and will always have a very limited budget so I never feel really guilty about buying a quality knock off. I played golf for a few years after quitting cricket. There I always used genuine gear. Used and maybe a few years old models as there are somethings only genuine will get the job done. I would love to see you review their golf shoes. Some really nice looking one's. Sorry for the essay.

    These imitations just show how much markup is being paid by us. Less middle men makes things much cheaper plus the manufacturers are paying for design and research which has to be paid for but when you can buy pretty much the same thing for 25% of the authentic then it's a tough deal to pass up, especially for something like grips that wear out anyways. I wouldn't buy fake golf clubs or life saving devices etc, but consumable items for sure I do.

    And as for the big golf companies that choose to sell a £2 grip for £30 all the power to temu , and if you professionals wont fit them for us amateurs, then i guess we will learn to do it ourselves, so i wouldn't be so hasty to refuse, then you could always move onto the shopping channel to earn your crust, you done a lovely job for temu lol.

    These items could have failed a high quality control system and be 'rejects' from the actual manufacturer. Many of the 'Outlet malls' sell items that are old stock. i.e. 2 year old models that have been sitting on a shelf. If the manufacturer could not move enough of their stock they have to get their money back somehow. I bought gym equipment at a fraction of the real cost and have no issue on quality.

    Tbh the full price is a joke for golf grips. I ordered some grips from temu and play 10 times a year max and they're fine. The grips aren't real and weigh different. I ordered some golf pride snsr putter grips and it was a great opportunity to try them for a fraction of the cost. But at the cost difference you can't argue. I am a previously a single figure player.
