starting a hotshot business
Awesome small setup I've used my smaller setups plenty of times started with a Chev Astro Cargo Van and a GMC Yukon 20ft flatbed
Beat is hard as shit
I like to see these little set ups
Great accent bro, mix between Cali surfer when you said taco but also country accent in the beginning. Been doing food deliveries but realized I had a ecodiesel 1500 and this video is great
Beat selection unmatched 🔥
What do you need to get started doing deliveries with Uship? Great video!
Pretty sure you need a dot and mc number now! Not sure.
Please sub!
Watching this just made me sign up for uShip have a truck and trailer already
Make sure you share bro!
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing will do
I am thinking the same. Awesome video. What do you need to do before you start doing this work? Do I have to get registered with Dot ? Thanks in advance.
It was good for me earlier in the year but people have been biding so low that most loads aint even worth it. And i'm not talking bout partials, i'm talking dedicated loads going down to $1 a mile if not under a dollar a mile! If you are taking dedicated loads for anything under $2 a mile your not gonna be in business long not to mention your leaving money on the table, shit just doesn't make sense to me.
Nah I don’t run cheap freight
Hey Boss. I'm trying to get into this myself. How do you deal with insurance? Or what route did you go with dealing with insurance?
I'm such a Yankee. When he said "tea to drink" I heard "teedadrink". I was thinking, "I wonder what that is? That sounds good."
LOL
Won’t get the work with a trailer looking like that
I been on UShip haven’t booked one load yet
Hell yeah brotha good shit. My f250 got totaled so now I’m wondering if I can run an older f150 with a GVWR of 6500 and a light aluminum trailer with a GVWR of 3500 and be under 10k total and not have to worry about DOT bullshit or an ELD. Obviously I wouldn’t make it rich but I have a job hauling for a company and I’d like to make some money on the side for toys and projects etc
Go for it you definitely gave me a idea
How did you get into UShip
$170 for 3 1/2 hours thats less $48 and some change hourly minus your gas, wear and tear on truck jesus. If you worked all day you still wouldn't make $400 at that rate
Not true at all. Sometimes it’s worth not making a killing to build a relationship with a big company that will give you a ton of business. You won’t always make a million dollars.
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing they are only giving you the business because you’re the cheapest, as soon as you raise your prices they send you on your way and find soemone else. Plus you charging low in the beginning to raise your prices later becuase you can’t make a living on those low numbers it’ll be wuickest way to ruin that relationship and bad reputation for coming in low to snatch it only to raise prices later. But to each its own.
Not the cheapest at all. Guys come in and bid lower all the time 😂
Wow we thrive on putting out our negative thoughts on others, of course there’s gonna be wear and tear of course your gonna rack up the miles, what’s worst having a truck sit in a parking lot for 10-12 while your sweating in the sun working to pay for that truck or you hitting the road ac on cranking your favorite tunes or content letting that truck 🛻 go to work for you!! Bravo 👏🏼 Zachary Keep Grinding we Love you my guy!!
@@alistairc7376 love this comment
Holly crap in on us hip Canada 2 years not one good paying job .all lowballers here
Can I start off with a old used pick up truck
Yes
hello brother how did you register in the uShip application what is needed for that please thanks greetings from New York
Hey how are you and my name is Hector and I just want to know how and where do you go to book loads
Did you have to strap it down the or company did?
What's the sign up process like. ? I have a 2001 Sierra and 6.5 x 12ft utility trailer
The Taco lmao. Love the vid and was exactly the help/info I needed to see if wanted to give UShip a try. Ty
No sweat playa. Make sure you subscribe if you have any questions hit me up on IG @shipwerkz @zacho44
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing what type of Fuel Mileage you got Hauling with the Tacoma?
Great video!!!! But I don’t know if I can follow a guy that doesn’t like cheese 🧀
👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
It’s not a sprint, it’s a marathon my boy
Also can u make a video on dat load boards for me from Chicago 250 miles radius and with a 5k lbs trailer
Just make sure you are logging everything with an ELD and have DOT numbers and authority. DOT is very stickler on Hotshot’s and the RV transport business. Had several DOT level 1 inspections. Also make sure you are keeping in line with the HOS with DOT
Thanks bud. Working on it!!
Depending on the state you are in and if you are crossing state lines you might not be required to run DOT # we don't cross state lines so we aren't required DOT #
@@phoenixarizona8441 actually if you are transporting for money. No matter what state you are in. You ARE SUBJECT TO DOT. No ways around it. Had 3 idiots from my home state shut down due to this reason.
@@Chrisjames925 how do you get a dot number?
Believe it or not with a small setup they don't mess with you he's not required dot numbers unless he's crossing state lines if he's local he's golden as long as he has commercial insurance for freight
Hey Zach, I’m in South Carolina I have a ram 1500 and wanna start my own hotshot business, I wanna start with a 16 or 20 ft trailer. Do you have any suggestions on where I need to start and what I may need to start?
Did you ever get a mc number while getting loads from uship
Did your fees include fuel?
Hey Zach I been watching yours videos awesome hustle also I’m in Illinois as well. I have Uship’s app but no dat loads boards. What are the requirements for a flat trailer 16 ft and hopefully single axle for a start to hauling single cars and another shipment for under 5,000 lbs
I run similar setup it's better to advertise and just start helping people move local and hauling construction supplies for contractors from Home Depot Lowes Menards other odds and ends
You Have to be careful with uship I hauled for them about three years ago I was moving a F150 and crossed state lines and got pulled over by DOT with no numbers no cargo insurance paid over $1000 in fines had to pay a tow company To finish the load for me and uship banded me and said I was operating outside there guidelines even though I moved loads the same way for them with no problems.
Yeah I know it. What where you hauling with and what size trailer
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing Yukon with a 20 foot car trailer.
So if you're only hauling within your state you don't need to get a DOT number and stuff?
@@EslayerTM no, that’s not true. Well honestly it depends on the state. Some states don’t require dot nor MC for in state commerce it’s solely based on wheee you are
The f150 is under 10,001 pounds so you shouldn’t need a dot number right? This DOT thing is starting to be confusing.
did you tow that trailer with no lights????
How much u charge to go to Melbourne Florida and pickup my camper and bring it back to Springfield Missouri it's a bumper pull toy hauler
Email me the specs on it brotha. Zachary.Cleanwerkzsc@gmail.com

Cookout be fuckin up
Awesome , I've noticed that a lot of guys are getting into hot shots and doing these little deliveries with utility trailers , awesome video man keep up the good work
Do you need dot number or mc number and commercial insurance to haul for uship? Thanks for the info
It depends man I would read their guidelines for your area
lol $170 no wonder your not in the game anymore
lol got 3 trucks. I’m deep in 🤷🏾♂️
any alternatives to uship for those wanting to do small loads? under 500 pounds. I travel for my work in a small truck (which I own) and I would like to see if I can make a little extra money while traveling for my job.
Not really to be honest most things are over 500lbs
I'm in SC and looking to get into the transport business. How's it working out for you around here?
I’m rolling good brotha
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing is an llc required ? Or you just hitch up and go..do taxes end of the year?
Do you need special insurance?
Yes
He wouldn’t let you film? That’s his right? Bro know your right’s. It’s your right to film regardless of how he feels about it.
Not trying to be that guy
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing use them or lose them. America is going downhill fast.
@@ZacharyThompsonRacing well besides that. I see we have a lot of similar interests and also wanna get into hot shot trucking.
How hard is for a new person into uship to get a load ? Becose of ratings? No one knows you
how do you insure what you are transporting when you use USHIP? I am not a hot shot trucker but a traveling salesman (drive a 2001 nisssan frontier with shell). I travel all over the western USA and have a very flexible schedule. so this seems like a great way to earn some additional money while I am on the road. but I do not want to get sued if someone claims I damaged their item while transporting it. I will clearly be hauling smaller loads (probably under 500 pounds).
If you get a commercial auto policy, that will do it if not just get the liability and negotiate with the shippers to get that done
I can get a commercial auto policy for a regular nissan truck?
can I get a commercial auto policy on a small nissan truck? also, someone told me you can get cargo insurance added to a regular auto insurance policy. is this true? I won't be hauling a lot of value when I do haul. again, all I have is a small truck. I am just trying to make an extra 1k-2K (hauling cargo) a month in my regular work travels with my small truck.
Brother i get what your trying to do but the first DOT inspection with that trailer is going to put you out of service. Your idea of "pretty solid" is not going to match theirs. looking down the list of comments and an ELD is mentioned, not having that will put you out of service as well.
Do you need dot or mc numbers ?
Please watch back a video or two
Big dowg. So unless you live with parents. A man with wife and 5 kids cant do that. So if i do that with my Tahoe Hybrid. Ita 85 to full it. That Tacoma use as much gas. So with that said. I be coming with 30 to 40 dollar's a day 🙄😬.. I hope you got another book. Still sucks. Cause thats like 180 a day if you got the right amount book. If not. All day wasted from good puss and good ganja. And i love money more then puss...
Righttt 😂 gotta outweigh the situation fr
@joshm6012 yeah but I’m a man with no kids lol. We all don’t have the same circumstances
