i have the KTM for about two years now, and I don't see myself on another bike. Amazing performance, all electronics, great assemblies. Honestly and from experience a perfect tool.
I can only speak to my own experience, obviously, but I've been riding my KTM Duke 890R since June, 2020, and so far (knock on wood) it's been bulletproof, with only scheduled servicing. Bonus: it's a TON of fun to ride. Though it's absolutely true that when all is said and done, the choice falls mostly to simple personal preference. Hard to go too far wrong these days.
I just want to say that I had an RSV4 for 5 years and these 3 were my choices for my next bike, and I chose the Triumph over the rest. Much happy. Even downsizing for twisties & occasional track days I don’t miss the liter at all… yet.
I agree the liter bikes of today just aren't fun unless you're on a track. They have so much potential and once you've tracked one at 100% it makes the streets feel boring. 100-130hp is the street sweetspot! lite, agile, Great brakes, and suspension!
I owned a first gen FZ09. I’ve owned 6 other bikes of different styles plus have tested probably 30 bikes on test ride days. I’m picking the MT09. The sound of the 3 cylinder, the commuting seat position, the ability to still carve the streets at faster speeds than you need, plus all the accessories to make a touring bike when needed. And all for great value. In my opinion, if your buying one of these to go to track days, don’t. Just got buy a super sport. MT09 all day every day. But, then again, everyone one of us is different. Buy what you want and enjoy the ride.
Got the 21 MT 09. The bike is light and didn’t want to go with lighter and less one cylinder even though the 890 is very powerful. After an full Akra install, tune and dyno, the bike is really fun. Happy go wheelie I love to have on tap.
Street Triple RS for me, since I just took delivery of one last week! Considered the MT09 before but it just doesn't have the same finish of the Street Triple and I hate the headlights on the MT09 even more.
I love my MT09SP. I've had it since December and the more I ride it, the more I appreciate rider aids and the oodles of torque just sitting there. The full titanium akrapovic system on it makes for a sweet sound track. It was a tough choice between the MT09 and the Street Triple RS. Absolutely no regrets though my bike is wonderful.
@@adamschannel8685 probably reliability and easier to work on. Also parts available and maintenance price, since both engines are bullet proof it should come down to those things
Loved the MT-09...the torque is incredible and makes it an absolute blast to ride. Upgrading to the MT-10 this year because I want a little more freeway power.
I was wondering where the Beemer was in the conversation. I saw a great review with the power being acceptable and handling good albeit heavy feeling. I think I'd go with the Beemer on class, looks and sound. Probably the Triumph on handling. Probably the Yamaha on TCO. It is hard to argue with Japanese on bang per buck having ownership of a Suzuki. My brain says, "Get the Yamaha. Don't think. Just go."
Went with the mt09 sp. The duke 890r was really fun but felt too plastic and i heard too many horrorstories about the reliability so yamaha it is! But would love to get a superduke as my next bike or maybe even the rumored street legal ktm rc8 C
i got rid of my duke 790 back in march, very conflicted between the striple RS and the MT09 sp, leaning toward the yamaha because of the reliability and availability of dealers and parts
How was the power delivery/character of the 890R vs the MT09-SP? They have similar rev ranges, displacements, and powerbands, just different bore/stroke and firing intervals.
i did ride mt-09 and own a ktm 890r tested multiple times superduke 1290r but the 890r with full akrapovich system and mapping is something else just straight out fun i live in Europe so parts is no problem and it didn't break down on me yet.i owned more than 5 ktm never problems with the brand. the suspension is very versatile you can do track days with race settings and ride on the street with comfort settings . the noise the rawnes and the perfect steering you all should take a demo at the dealer and then judge it :)

I tested all of these before pickin my monster 821 2020, really good bikes. For me the monster was the first bike crush i had two decades ago and finally went for the ducati. The looks, the sound, the position not too sporty to commute but not too high bars when u wanna ride happy. Coming from an R6 must say this 2 cylinder has enough power for off circuit fun. You cant go wrong with any of those.
I got a 2016 monster 821 and love it. Bought it new. But now I'm thinking of going back to Japanese bikes. The new 750 honda naked bike or the MT09 will be my next bike.

6 ft tall with long legs. The street triple is too small for me. For track day or canyon carve it's fine but as a daily rider it's too compact. For all that I would get a super sport lol
Tried the ST765, cb1000r, Duke890 and the mt09 back in 2021 within 2 days. My preferens was in that order. I liked the Trump best. New mt09 is supposed to be a lot better than the old one thought.
I have a '23 890 Duke R, a '19 790 Duke and a '22 Traver 9 GT. If I would have to decide and could only have one bike of these three I would undoubtedly go for the MT-09 Sp. If I could have more than one I would go for the KTM. My '23 has ben flawless and my '19 790 Duke has 17k miles and also has been fully reliable.
I guess I have got lucky because my 890 duke has only been in the shop to upgrade tires and get yearly maintenance. No reliability issues at all. I wish they offered different color options, but the smile it puts on my face every day makes the orange easier to live with. Does anyone have experience with graphics kits and if so, which one?
You can buy different color schemes online to replace the orange vinyl or get it wrapped or just strip all of the orange vinyl. But I dont know I get nothing but compliments on the orange on my 890
Our Yamm hasn’t rode reviewed the 890R or 2021 mt09 (except the XSR which doesn’t count it has a longer swing arm) the only bike on that list he has hands on experience with is the Street triple, which this year it’s getting a full update with more power etc. yada yada yada…
The biggest complaint I've heard about the mt07 and mt09 is that both seats feel hard as a rock after a couple of hours of riding. So just put a better seat on them.
1st Triumph, 2nd Yamaha and last KTM. I'll save a few more dollars and get 2024 Street Triple RS. All would be fun but for looks, quality, and performance the Triumph better suits me.
Personally I went z900. From those 3 though idk I really want a ktm super duke but the reliability issue is concerning so I guess mt09 would be the way
I ride a Street Triple R. Love it. You can upshift and drift around town, very smooth, or downshift with the the smooth quick shifter and auto-blipper and attach some corners with confidence.
The new 2024 Triumph 765 line is very solid! I think the next generation bikes new for 2024 Triumph is hard to beat dollar for dollar. I like the base “R” version it’s more aligned with average street riding and commuting. The “R” version comes with many new updates not all of the upgrades found in the RS & Moto2 models. The additional upgraded Brembo brakes, Ohlins rear suspension and upgraded TFT with track mode etc are all great IF you intend to use it as a track bike.
KTM is performance, precision and handling. I never had any reliability issue with my Duke R and even if will have issues, I don't really care, it always pays off. Certainly, KTM is not for girls.
I've ridden even the new MT09, The 765 R and the Duke 890 base edition. The base 890 wipes the floor with the other 2 in every single category except brakes, which is where the 890R comes in. The 890 is way more engaging, handles waaaaaayyy better than the other 2, it's not on sharper and more accurate, it's also way more compliant and smooth, whilst detracting nothing from pace when pushing it. The engine sounds sick, pops on all shifts, amazing burble on the overrun. The MT09 is straight up bland and handles like crap and the Street triple doesn't have that same pazzaz the 890 does. The 890 is also way lighter than the other 2, it really is as KTM say, a scalpel. The Triumph is a Sharp kitchen knife and the Yamaha is a blunt axe... And last but not least, the 890 is so goddamn economical, 180-190 miles to the 14 Litre tank when trashing it, the other 2 don't even compare...
No,too much power for a noob rider these bikes will scare you, get something that's 70-80 hp if u ride on the streets, the new Honda hornet 750 would be a better upgrade for you!!or an mt07!!
I’d say yes, if ur careful at first. If u can do wheelies comfortably and drag knee on corners you know well u can basically upgrade to anything u want. Just gotta take it easy don’t hop on it and ride like it’s your 390 that’ll be bad 😂
you'll be fine, if you know how to ride already, you just don't pin it everywhere like a 390...your right hand is the determining factor.....890R was my first street bike and it wasn't bad, and yeah i knew how to ride motorcycles b4 just not street bikes...
Yes the duke 890 especially, it has enough tech to make it easy to ride for even a beginner, it was literally my first bike and extremely happy I chose it.

1st Triumph, 2nd Yamaha and last KTM. I'll save a few more dollars and get 2024 Street Triple RS. All would be fun but for looks, quality, and performance the Triumph better suits me.
Check out the Z900 as well.
Personally I went z900. From those 3 though idk I really want a ktm super duke but the reliability issue is concerning so I guess mt09 would be the way

Why was the Moto2 Edition Street Triple omitted from this video?
The 2024 triple wins all. Hands down
I ride a Street Triple R. Love it. You can upshift and drift around town, very smooth, or downshift with the the smooth quick shifter and auto-blipper and attach some corners with confidence.
Where did you find an auto blipper for the r model? I'm looking for one!
@@stebo8715 202 version came with it. Nice kit.
@yammienoob1 scammer
Yamaha FTW!!
I’m sad the z900 wasn’t on this list
Too heavy & outdated. No imu / quick shifter/auto blip.
@@tarnishedsquid2967 I love it 🤷♂️ and it will still pull on all 3 of these
I’ve owned nothing but ktms for the last 7 years and never had an issues with them and probably have like 70k seat miles on them. Sooooooooo
The additional upgraded Brembo brakes, Ohlins rear suspension and upgraded TFT with track mode etc are all great IF you intend to use it as a track bike.
you mean 2023?
@@tubejorrit Triumphs US marketing released their 2023’s last year lol. The NEW bikes are considered 2024.
@@spktylr US is weird, how can a bike, announced in 2022, produced in 2023 be a 2024 model :p
@@tubejorrit it's 2024 in USA, and 2023 elsewhere, no joke. Same thing happened for 2017/2018.
Do they compete at who will make the ugliest bike?
Well, when you feel the handling, the lightness, the stability and the punchy torque of the KTM the contest is over.
Yamaha all day long 💪
I just chose the st. Trip R over the mt09! Not sorry! Very satisfied!
KTM is performance, precision and handling. I never had any reliability issue with my Duke R and even if will have issues, I don't really care, it always pays off. Certainly, KTM is not for girls.
Your voice was weird. Are you using AI?
Wow. Is this comparison weighed against the 2024 street triple or the earlier models??
@@QuickRipzz
The current gen MT09, current gen 890 and a 2022 765 R, not sure if they had any meaningful updates since then.
Can you be any more biased, I think we can all agree 890 sounds like a damn lawn mower
@@ronaldoleon48 you might wanna get your ears checked lol
@AntaresSQ01 nah yall just need to stop being in denial. Aprilia 660 parallel sounds way better for example
Would one of these be a great step up from a duke 390?
