As some one from Europe, the reason we class 4-500s as a middle weight bike is because of our licensing system. Most people start on a 125 so going to a 500 is a big jump. So seems more middle weight. It’s also restricted to 46bhp in the UK so a 100-150bhp bike is not middle weight.
Plus our narrower roads and terrible conditions (both road and weather) means there’s less need for the extra HP above say an average 650cc 75hp bike. 100+ would likely be classed as a big bike

So…. How are these bikes for noobs? I’m a responsible person with a mature age and I want to start riding. Seems like a headache to get a 400cc +/- size bike only to have to sell it later, then buy a larger bike (capable of sustained highway speeds/distance is the goal). I’m really leaning towards the TKM, possibly the MT-09, as a first bike. That means testing and learning. Last time I road a bike solo was eighth grade… DECADES ago, literally. Everyone I know has a bike, even my girlfriend, Honda Shadow Phantom brand new off the floor.
so the speed twin 1200 is basically 13k, the street triple R is 10k.....so which is better bang for buck then? i won't be doing any track days, Love the aesthetics of the Trident, but want little more kick in the rear, the Daytona 660 engine in the trident would really have me interested...ALOT....but, that isn't an option, so, the R is 3k cheaper, but i would imagine the twin is more suited for daily cruising? but how much more suited? is it better than the R to the degree that its worth the 3k price difference? or is it more nominal where you are better off saving the coin cause the R is maybe better in corners or something. which has more range for weekend day trips with my old duffer harley homies? i know the twin would fit in little better with the cruisers, but more important i don't want to be "that guy" who always is low on gas when everyone else has half a tank.
There's not a motorcycle in that group that I would be interested in buying. For street use they're too big, too fast, too expensive, and with two exceptions, too European. The Aprillia isn't too big, but it's too aggressive, and worse than European, it's Italian.

Get it tuned with a long tube header exhaust, upgrade the front pads, maybe the -1, +2 sprocket change if you like competitive racing 2nd tier liter bikes to 120 and don't like loosing ALL the time. Living the life. Suspension is good! learn to adjust it. 420 Lbs. is worth a few pony's for this beauty it's the Big Block Torque/pull at low RPM you want. Most of the time, you never finish out the wind up. The Z900 would be my 2nd choice, not a big fan of the formidable Thumper twins. Back in the day, the Air Cooled 4 cylinder Honda 750's were Wide! The 6 cylinder was Silly! The 3 cylinder H2 only had 3 cylinders (but still air cooled), was about as wide as a bike could be without dragging the alternator cover. Now with water cooling, even a 4 cylinder is fine. your mileage may vary.. whatever you pick, the quick shifter is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (worth at Least 0.5 sec in the quarter), and get the ABS as a requirement. You can always turn it off.
Insurance gets pricey at some point.. Seems they might go by CC.. and specifically ask about Turbo/Super charging!! The Yammer 9 is Not cheap insurance, they seem to be jacking rates as a rule these days.

Well he did say that “In 2024 anything less than 100hp is just a beginner bike” so there’s your answer right there. Numbers aside, I rode a ninja 650 and it is noticeably weaker than the bikes he’s putting forward. Even the RS, with its 660cc, has 32 more horsepower and in fairness that does kinda put it into another category. IMO there ought to be ‘small mid’ and ‘large mid’.. 1000ps for example divides the middle class in that way.

Triumh 1200 midle weight😂😂what have YOU smoked🤣
Talk about the suzuki katana
The z900 looks 10x better than the mt09
Which would be better between MT09 and street triple 765 ?
came here to clarify what to buy, more undecided than before :)))
Triumph is too ugly, KTM is too unreliable, Yamaha is just right.
Did nobody tell Yammie for the smashmouth clip in the intro that the years did in fact stop coming? RIP Steve Harwell
It is a shame Street triple looks like a bug. It’s so ugly I wouldn’t buy it.
"anything less than 100hp is a beginner bike"... a true Noob statement
I think anywhere from 500-750 is mid weight
Calling 100-150bhp middlweight. Murriicccaaaaa
Damn, this came out later. I’m already getting a CFMOTO 650NK but new ideas added for the next
The engine is copied from kawasaki's 650.. good beginner bike I would say
papa yams, I'm selling my 2023 rebel 500 abs se and my 2023 ninja 650 in order to get a 2023 hya-frickin-busa, and I WILL be turboing it in the future, don't worry
Hey I wouldn’t get that for the price get a zx10 or gixxer 1000r or s1k bmw . One it’s a heavy beast. Two price there are all competing in price. But do you , but be safe and have fun
@@mrwick4875 I want the busa
Zx6r 🤏🕶🤨 where the fuck im I in these list
Sorry Yammie Noob but the Ducati Monster is still a V-twin and not it a true a 90 degrees from 0 degrees nor dose it resemble a L shape one of the cylinders and head would have to be considerably shorter in over all length about the half and that pretty much the end of the story.
I wonder where the new XSR 900 GP will fall on this list.
I watched a commercial for you yammie..
Hopefully the other 53K viewers did as well?
RUclipss just becoming such a clunk-fest in how it works... its well kinda not worth it anymore you know, just trying to watch vids?
Also even though I'm a subscriber, I haven't seen any vid recommendations from you-tube for you in a long ass time..
Sorry but anything over 750cc (I know you can’t really buy a 750!) isn’t a middleweight. Liter bikes are liter bikes.
Agree with Yammie on the choices. I bought a bike this year and my short list was : RS660, Street Triple, Duke 890R.
Aprilia engines bleed metal shavings into the oil. Not a quality crafting.
so the speed twin 1200 is basically 13k, the street triple R is 10k.....so which is better bang for buck then? i won't be doing any track days, Love the aesthetics of the Trident, but want little more kick in the rear, the Daytona 660 engine in the trident would really have me interested...ALOT....but, that isn't an option, so, the R is 3k cheaper, but i would imagine the twin is more suited for daily cruising? but how much more suited? is it better than the R to the degree that its worth the 3k price difference? or is it more nominal where you are better off saving the coin cause the R is maybe better in corners or something. which has more range for weekend day trips with my old duffer harley homies? i know the twin would fit in little better with the cruisers, but more important i don't want to be "that guy" who always is low on gas when everyone else has half a tank.
Weird Joseph Goebbels cameo at 15:18…
There's not a motorcycle in that group that I would be interested in buying. For street use they're too big, too fast, too expensive, and with two exceptions, too European. The Aprillia isn't too big, but it's too aggressive, and worse than European, it's Italian.
Triumph❤ Speed Twin for me
in this class 🤔i dont know i prefer more torq down low with less topend power for dailyriding 😉👌🏻for me allthose bikes sucks 🤷🏻♂️except speed twin 👍🏻i would take it from this group 😎👌🏻only issue which im seen for me taste is 💩 gearbox with 6 gears 🤮and lil to much weight 👉🏻 220 kg however 112 nm at 4250 rpm compensate this be alot 👌🏻 and seat looks not enough befee and not enough comfortable beside this 👍🏻 at least in terms of engine characteristic overall construction dont onow how internal construction of engine most likely dont have goat driving gears instead stupyt chain and valve on glass most likely 🤮🫣 but yea overall defenitely take it from this group cos of best engine characteristic for daily riding 👍🏻 you ask what is ideal power level for road aplication it always depend on somebodys needs for me its 60 hp 👌🏻sweet spot for 200 kg naked bike 75 nm at 4 k rpm 60 hp at 7 k rpm from 750 inline 2 270 degrees on drivewheel and screw valve +5 gears not 6 😎👌🏻 comfoy ergo , suspension breaks frame tires perfect so like always usd45 /14- c/13 320 /4 p 260 /1 p strong stable frame tire 120-160/17 5 100 km/h 4000 rpm 90% torq at 2000 rpm 👍🏻so low rev strong lowend good elasticity + very weak topend performance atleast in regard to bike which you show in this video thats me type bike for normal daily riding commuting toruing whatever defeintely not r6 characteristic with huge rpm huge topend power with weak lowend 🤮😎👌🏻but you already know me version i quees 😉.closest from this what is available be nc750 except 💩 geometry to much gears and overall its adv not me type bike 👌🏻 +to heavy the same as speedtwin 🤮
Z900 is ugly😑 yammie has no taste
Yammie including kawasaki is like 🤯🤯🤯🤯
R9 coming at eicma !
The Monster IS a V-Twin !.
I’ve only had a Ducati Monster 1200R. I’m very happy with it. Feeling curious about getting a new bike, not sure what I should go for. BMW, Streetfighter, SuperDuke, MT10 or just move to a streetbike? I just commute in the city and hit the hills on the weekends.
S1000r its a better comuter and more comfortable ✊🔥and never brokes down🤙
New meaning of beginner bike as described in The Squid's Guide In Choosing A Motorcycle.
No mention of the KTM Duke 990? Also the MT09SP is not the 2024 model. The facelift isn't featured. Also the XSR900 is akin to the MT09SP.
Would you be able to do a review comparing the pros and cons of what would be a better race bike build. 2020 765 moto2 or a 2023 765 rs? engine and geometry comparison
Z900 is the best looking bike.
Uh Oh Yam,,, Made the Video too early,,,,The best looking bike of 2024 is the XSR900 GP,,,, bike has some serious wood inducing beauty.
as an irish person any bike from 300-500 id say is middleweight and anything above that is heavyish weight. then 1kcc+ is just unnecessarily overweight bikes
I love my XSR900. Best bike in the category for me and with the extended swing arm from the tracer 9 it's way less unruly than the mt09.
The Ducati Monster was the first baked bike I ever laid eyes on back in the mid 2000’s, and I fell in love with it. Still one of the most gorgeous bikes out there in my opinion
I have a 1000cc but with a 150hp. I don’t where my bike is classified now 😂😂 0:46
kidding. love your content
I'm surprised the 2024 zx6r redesign didn't even get a mention in the fully faired section
My shit-tier 75 HP SV650 on suicide watch. Even the GSX-8S is only 82hp
Is the Aprilia a naked tho...? Kinda like a lady with their shirt still on. XSR900 tho 💅
What about super motos?
As a 2010 Ducati Monster owner I can see why Ducati made the current Monster the way they did, but it's still blasphemous
You forget best middleweight aka MV Agusta Brutale 800RR
Monster 939 are not midle weight😂 and are not real monster🤪old monster s4rs, looks a lot better✊🔥
Are there practical reasons to learn to wheelie (other than it's fun?). Serious question, thanks
Countries with progressive licencing disagree with your 100 hrsprs opinion
2023 XSR900 here.. Dunno, hard to beat the newer Yammer 9 triples what a package. got mine for $10.3K.
Haha it’s my bike! (Red triumph STRS 24) my first bike….
the only thing I don't like about the street triple is the exhaust sounds terrible and exhaust mods are illegal here😔
No Hornet 750??? Strongly disaggree... Pretty solid bike
Selling my 6,500 mile, '19 Duke, anyone interested? 😭
for retro lovers like me, A ducatu nightshift is all i need, not that i cannot buy one but other commitments have priority, so happy with hunter that is one sixth of the price of that ducati but almost 80 percent fun due to very challenging indian city conditions
In no reasonable estimation is a 900cc bike a middleweight.
Duke 890 in 2024??
No BMW F900, best bike is slept on ONCE AGAIN
No gsxr 750 on the list? Boo! Love that bike. Lol
ZX6R isn’t a middleweight anymore?
Looooooove my 2024 Street Triple R!
Beautiful bike. I’m quite in love with the carnival red one.
Yamy got dunked by Yamy - the new MT09 beats all that.
I think anything under 100hp with less than 70nm torque is good beginner bike (if ergonomics are what you want) and should not been considered as middle weight. And I'm from Europe. :)
ZX1400r, H2, Panigale, S1000RR and fireblade... all great beginners bike... I'm also from Europe.
What is your problem with the Ninja 650?
Well he did say that “In 2024 anything less than 100hp is just a beginner bike” so there’s your answer right there. Numbers aside, I rode a ninja 650 and it is noticeably weaker than the bikes he’s putting forward. Even the RS, with its 660cc, has 32 more horsepower and in fairness that does kinda put it into another category. IMO there ought to be ‘small mid’ and ‘large mid’.. 1000ps for example divides the middle class in that way.
Finally a photo of a bike that I own. I don't feel poor anymore.
They all look great. Was I only 30 yrs. younger.....
