There’s a reason why Glasgow has doubled as Gotham City in so many Batman/DC movies. The architecture and and atmosphere. It’s also double for New York quite a lot Ad a lot of early New York architecture was based on Glasgow’s. Also at one point during the Irish Famine the only place to receive more Irish people than Glasgow was New York.

You’ve not lived until you’ve had a night out in Glasgow.
Working up there waiting for my train south on Friday teatime, I’ve been to the Toby Jug as the bar in Central Station is bedlam.
It’s busy, but there’s a nice mixed crowd, no trouble (think that takes care of itself!) and good service at the bar…. Plus it’s cheap!
From a scotsman from glasgow myself its scheme bars you want to check out thats where you find the hard boozers 👌
Would of done more if i wasn't on my own
@@honestplaces your better off on your jays in rough pubs I always find. I like to go to all over, and only feels it gets moody when I’m with mates tbh 😂 I’ve got some London pubs for you to check out if you need a list.
@@crabapples1995 exactly if your on your own thats a pass in most pubs as long as yer not a prick or bump into a prick , go in a few handed in any real pub with a local clientele those locals are going to be on you wanting to know everything , they will be on you like paint , Glasgow scheme and Scottish town local pubs your just not getting a pass if your a strangers its a f ing inquisition in some places
It would have been an honor for me to show you a few pubs over my side of the city some of the pubs are like taking a step back in time lol @honestplaces
@@crabapples1995good point
used to visit a friend in pollok shaws. in Glasgow. and I had a stand at the motorbike show at the SECC. always a great night out. battered square sausage an chips an Tenants 70 shiling
It's not rough in here is it?😊
He was talking about headbutting someone so i had to ask 🤣
@@honestplaces surely you me a ,"Glasgow kiss."
Tolbooth is one of my haunts. Guinness and music is top notch 👍🏼😎
I worked in Scotland for my last job and remember the first night in Lanark ordering 2 pints of Tennant's and nearly fell over when he said it was a fiver 😂 I pay more than that for 1 pint round here!
Crazy cheap init compared to usual prices!
@@honestplaces yeah mate, and I'm with you, it's a decent pint of lager.
Another top video pal 👍
5 min drive from me
Where did you go in Lanark??
@@spreadingthedrewth4643 you know that church/tower they light up blue, the little side street off that there's a curry house with a pub nextdoor. The curry house only sold cans of Irn Bru so you had to go to the pub for the beers
You can get a pint at mckinnons at 8 in the morning, if you have some breakfast with it. Go to Machintosh in Clydebank. Montford House Southside.
Erdinger on draught, you don’t see that very often
Nice beer 🍺
ha ha luv your work, the first pub you were in was showing aussie rules on the tv in the background, gotta luv that.
That was the registry office the white taxi was outside
£2 a pint brilliant I'm from Glasgow the main square you visited was George Square with the city chambers being the main big building
Love Glasgow, Dad grew up in Scotstoun. Every time I’ve been back up people so friendly. Good channel pal 👍 🍻
Old Burnt Barns - Lynchs is a great place to!!!!!
Enjoyable video The Toby Jug and The Alpine Lodge are great pubs especially on a Saturday the karaoke is brilliant Toby’s one of the best pints in Glesga
Toby's is mega. For the price tooa
Great videos mate......really enjoy them..
Headed home to Glasgow after 40 years in Canada thisJune❤
when you do you get to the rough pubs?
Thanks for this video. Was good to see the area around the railway station again. I used to go out there quite a bit when i lived in Scotland.
Some ace streets in Glasgow
You should come back and see the changes 😀
@@gavrfc09 one day soon hopefully.
@@MagicTasha u wont regret it
@@gavrfc09 thanks. I'm sure I wouldnt. Always a great time in Glasgow and Scotland in general. 💚
Good video mate. I’m from Glasgow, it’s strange seeing your own city on RUclips like that. Plenty of high end bars but plenty of dives too. If you are looking for rough areas try the east end like Shettleston, Tollcross and Parkhead
Was on holiday in Glasgow - and had the piss taken out of me in a bar cos i was on shandys lol. Thought i was gonna get shanked lol. (I was driving!) You need a thick skin to enter some of the pubs there.
Enjoyed your video mate for the comedy value at least , be safe in the Scheme bars though
🤣 cheers pal.
You're so right...good music is more conducive to drinking than Homes Under the Hammer on the telly!
Good video mate. 1.99 a pint eh... Cracking pubs good to see ppl having a good time.
Nice pubs and always lively in Glasgow 😊
Proper bangin!
Dude I love this series. Nothing better than seeing a Locals viewpoint . Cheers 🍻
Govan, Ibrox, East End, Shawlands...
that bit where you mentioned the architecture is where they used to hang folk back in the day I am sure, hence the gallowgate. dont quote me on that but
Yes it was, it's called the tolbooth and they used to bring them up from the tunnels below which are still there to this day. It's a tourist attraction now
Would say that Dow's Bar s more for folk catching a quick pint whilst waiting for a train than an actual pub with regulars
Yeh alot of people popped in for 1
@@honestplaces get yourself along to the Lauriston south of the river if you have the tie. Best Guinness in Glasgow (ask for middle tap)
I went in one somewhere near Ibrox and it was one of the friendliest pubs I’ve ever been to in my life. Some nice people up there. Keep an eye out for any graffiti on your travels
Dows wis a good pub years back, great karaoke & always roasting, Robert 😂 the postie, & no forgetting ole Eddie little ole wine drinker me (rip) few regulars now not with us including old landlady
3:30 Cannae believe there's footy on the TV in the background. Cheers from Australia
Wow. American here. I was in Glasgow a month ago. While waiting for my train at Glasgow Central I popped across the street to the Toby Jug for a quick drink. Old men looking for a cheap pint, pretty noisy and charmless. Good bartenders.
Getting thirsty watching this mate ! Also those pubs near Glasgow Cross are open around 8AM, and they can get busy at that time. Was a godsend for a curer when I was on it. 🤣
Yeah but all Irish tho
@@tracylouise222 Vinyl Bar just along from The Tollbooth is a great wee pub Tracy, it's normally where I go after a gig. Something for everyone in there who like their music. Many of the up n coming young bands in Glasgow drink there, and big John the owner, is a diamond of a bloke. I have never had any hassle in there.
@@tracylouise222 what's wrong with Irish ?
@franzherflek4116 There's nothing wrong with being Irish, but most of those bars down that way are IRA supporting, collect donations for them etc.Apart from the pub the guy above mentioned,Eddy wouldn't have much choice that he's going into mainly IRA republican supported bars
The last 2 times I''ve gone to Glasgow, I always go to the Tennent's brewery. That place is class with a bar for and tasting (included with tour)
Even got myself a pint glass from there. Love me some Tennent's
Dam....should of done that myself!
@@honestplaces Aye you should! Ain't too expensive either!
Being where I'm from up in northern norway we don't get that here. It's a special experience to get a banging Tennent's directly from the tap
@@daggydave1516 You're right. To my defence, I was drunk when I wrote that comment
First 2 Pubs and the Last Pub are Celtic Pubs plus trongate area where you were in, is a Celtic area as you go that way to Celtic Park.
Honest if I was back in Blighty I'd be drinking again (17 years).
Tears for Fears, Change TUNE
Some nice looking pubs to be honest, that last one looked decent!
Toby jugs class 😂😂
I remember a bar beside the old markets called The Squirrel and had one of the best bacon buns and banter anywhere period 🏴
The Squirrel's still there.
@@inthepub aye for real I used to fly down from Aberdeen get the deals and a few beers ,great wee bar 🏴
Whey , australian rules football playing in that first pub! 🇦🇺
Glasgow city centre was a pleasant surprise ? Its great sitting in a pub when its raining outside ?
Imagine coming to Glasgow and no having a bunnet. 😂
You missed a trick not going to the Brazen Head, you were only a short walk over the bridge towards the Gorbals. Oh btw, none of the bars you visited were 'dodgy' by Glasgow standards. 😂
I lived in Glasgow for 4 years. I think there was one day when it didn't rain, but I might be mistaken.
It’s always raining in Scotland. Unlike the tropical paradise that is England. 👀
True. Atleast Scotland is cheaper!
@@honestplaces 😆😆😆
Really enjoyed that video man. Stay safe in the schemes/estates. 🤘

Jeeeez
l think males born today had a 50% chance of actually reaching 65 in some areas, very sad. The SNP wanted state pension paid a year or 2 earlier in Scotland 2014 lndy ref to get state pension paid as Scots die younger
13:53 Boomin?? I've had mer people in my front room 😂😂😂
Loved hearing Rammstein blasting in the background at the 4th pub 😂❤

How aboout the Maltings in Cumbernauld???
