Haha! You are more likely to run into one of Leith’s many Michelin star restaurants than anyone rough. In fact, the first place you went to is right beside The Little Chartroom, cracking wee fine dining restaurant. But just you keep acting hard going into normal pubs and claiming they are rough. Reminds me of that Still Game episode when The Clansman is on Britain’s Toughest Boozers 😂
I lived in leith in 2003 and it was very rough. My friend and I were set upon by some thugs on our way to a party. My friend was left blind in one eye from the glass in his spectacles breaking into his eye. Then he left the uk and went back to Poland due to it. I also left Scotland at that point and moved to Wales. In Wales the people were friendlier and there was much less violence and drugs than in Scotland.
In the central, the dockers used to come in before a shift and have a few beers and a punch up, in another corner, a gogo dancer was being assaulted by an alsation with the crowd egging the thing on! Happy Days
The Iona Bar is good and The Vine along at Junction Street. Most people in Leith are either sipping champagne or drinking oatmilk-mocha-lattes but some character pubs still around. The Tavern near the foot of the walk is probably worth a visit.

Its a pity there's Copyright infringement rules for background music on youtube, but some of those pubs were playing awesome songs! What a cool city! Would love to visit someday. Your videos always make me want to go and explore the British Isles. Keep it up mate!
This is an instant classic. Bravo. Charlie, a pub that lives up to its name and a bloke that sounds like Alan Hansen around the 9.35 mark.Should've got some tactical advice from him about the marksman.
The marksman was only done up after a Wetherspoons opened next to it. They paid for the refurb of it because they didn’t want people put off the Wetherspoons. None of these pubs are actually that rough, try Tranent or Prestonpans
@NCOYS take a look at Tranent high street, count how many CCTV Cameras there are. There’s a reason for that! One of my friends got threatened on the high street pushing her son in his pram in the daytime.
Not sure the Marksman is the roughest, but certainly up there! I love Leith, right good mix of people. A comedian once said, Leith Walk is the evolution of man, from the Marksman to the more gentrifed pubs up the top of the walk.
Next time you're in Edinburgh, try Number one Grange. The John Leslie, Swanny's, the old bell, I would avoid Minders (became the Wayside and the Aviator, god knows what it is now!) because when I used to drink in Bierex(number 1 grange) , there was always a massive fight kicking off there(the Wayside )on a Saturday night. The polis were never away from the place!
That took me back. I remember Wilkie's when it was Whitson's! Funny thing is, I was at Bonnington Primary school with Tam who was outside Wilkie's, not seen him in years. GGTTH!!
I didn't think those were rough pubs to be honest, except for one. I found it amusing, you went looking for a rough place, and when you found it, you left immediately.
Lived in Leith for two years when I first moved over from Canada, just up about 100 metres from The Central Pub. You see some crazy things in Leith, fights and junkies and such, but generally speaking it was a great place to live and all around good, hardworking people and you were fine if you kept out of things. Also, as a sidenote, I use to work with a retired Edinburgh cop and I asked him what the roughest pub in Edinburgh was. He said The Spey Lounge which is literally a stones throw up Leith Walk from The Central Pub, proper rough characters. He said under no circumstances should I ever go in there. 🤣🤣
@@JXMGAMING98that’s fair, haven’t been by there in a while so could see that being the case after Covid. Tbf this guy was a cop from 80s till like 2015 so would have been a different time.

Funnily enough the Lioness of Leith on the corner of the same side of the road as The Marksman used to be one of the dodgiest boozers in Leith. It's been a decent place since 2013 though. My favourite bar by far 👌

If an Englishman offers myself a beer in a bar then im tking it and then ill dance the Highland fling
ill dance the Highland fling as its not often an English person shall buy a drink for a Bonnie Scotsman .
But the other way around Scots do buy odd drinks to English people why is that u may think .
Well us Scots are a better people as simple as and sure u enjoyed your free pint bought you from a Scot also .
Were used to being kind hearted people in Scotland . but in England opposite shy away not as friendly or open and very sly way you go about things in England . But if ever next time im in England and receive a beer ill come back onto tell you about it ok..But i wouldnt hng my hat on such 😁
Brilliant video again fella 🍻
Cheers pal 👍
The phrases “mooch around” and “see what’s kicking off” are now part of my vocabulary, even if I’m just explaining to my wife that I’m going to Sainsbury’s
Another good on 👍🤙💙 your sponsor ads quality is amazing 😂😂😂
Cheers pal 🍻
Its a pity there's Copyright infringement rules for background music on youtube, but some of those pubs were playing awesome songs!
What a cool city! Would love to visit someday. Your videos always make me want to go and explore the British Isles. Keep it up mate!
the first ad i actually enjoyed to watch.
Really appreciate that pal 👍
Love Scotland! 4:80 for 2 points is fkn fantastic! Go to Govan next!.
. Thought I was tripping in the mid roll 😂 ... marketing skills are on point. 👌🏼
Yeh cheap pints init 🤣 cheers pal
Edinburgh looks class!
I’m English but had many good times in Edinburgh. Lots of good boozers.
Great stuff, you never fail to entertain me, adverts are hilarious 😂 🖖
That took me back. I remember Wilkie's when it was Whitson's! Funny thing is, I was at Bonnington Primary school with Tam who was outside Wilkie's, not seen him in years. GGTTH!!
I didn't think those were rough pubs to be honest, except for one. I found it amusing, you went looking for a rough place, and when you found it, you left immediately.
Told to leave
I worked in the Central for 4 - 5 years about 20-25 years ago. I used to quite like the Marksman too. Many old pals were local there.
The spey is half empty
@@JXMGAMING98that’s fair, haven’t been by there in a while so could see that being the case after Covid. Tbf this guy was a cop from 80s till like 2015 so would have been a different time.
Central bar interior is stunning
These aren’t Edinburgh’s roughest pubs. Most of the notorious Leith pubs have been knocked down. Still a few rough ones in Granton/Pilton but nothing like the Gunner used to be
there arent any in pilton and im pretty sure only 1 or 2 in granton
This channel is the best! It is what it is from Texas, man 😂
Cheers pal 👍🍺
Those 2 on the scooters at the start looked proper rough. Definitely after the camera. 😱🤣
🤣🤣
What a strange pub that marksman was wierd guy saying he's gunna grab ya bag 😂😂 Another great video tho mate contents getting better and better with each video hopefully 50k subs by the time next video comes 🎉🎉
Well done for finding Scottish people in Edinburgh, especially in Leith, which is more like Poland these days.
On rainy boring days in Edinburgh, you can actually walk around the city playing Spot The Scot trying to beat the record of 11 set in 2019. Best of luck trying to beat that in Edinburghski.
People chatting about the shooting at New year's wasn't the marksman or even in Leith. It was the anchor inn along at Granton
Funnily enough the Lioness of Leith on the corner of the same side of the road as The Marksman used to be one of the dodgiest boozers in Leith. It's been a decent place since 2013 though. My favourite bar by far 👌
Top quality again mate
Cheers pal
Hi there. Are you going to be offering any merch?
Really enjoy your vids.
🤣🤣 not planned to!
Really enjoy your station here in the USA. The neighborhood tours culminating in dive pubs is extremely interesting. It's real life...keep up the cool work!
i stayed in great western hotel in glascow (or was it eastern) in 82 , that area was time and place for kicking off, havent drank for 40 years though
Was in Edinburgh last week on holiday from Sheffield, discovered your channel while I was there, love it mate , keep it up 👍
Can't believe you didn't film the best bit- the reaction of the Jocks when England equalised.😆
As a Scot, that was embarrassing that character squaring up to you. Sorry to see that, you get idiots everywhere. I joined Navy at 18 & went to a pub in a village in Hampshire, called Petersfield & when they heard my accent 3 or 4 guys jumped all over me as i went outside. Every other English person been great. Great channel.
Shame that pal.....just afew small folk ruin it sometimes. Cheers pal
Ive had exactly similar but worse in Manchester way back in 1980 .
Some guy coming over to myself and older brother saying you from Glasgow ( In which im not )
then it was Celtic or Rangers --> None i replied ..Then he goes back to around 6 of his mates at bar area
then he comes back to us again 2 mins or so after ..Repeats you from Glasgow
@@honestplaces Guy was an idiot get them everywhere sadly .
Should go to Chatham in Kent some rough pubs there mate also Rochester high street which is round corner from Chatham 👍
Beltin site our kid. Love the banter. From a Salford lad now in Blackpool 🫡
Someone got shot at the marksmen 😂😂😂 made me laugh way too much
🤣
Me and my mate had a shot of tequila every time you said "it is what it is" I was bladdered by the end of the video!
Us Welsh have stayed in Leith for years!! Fuckin fantastic welcome always!!
Even took my Mrs up there for a lovely meal at Tom Kitchens!
Stayed in the same area ( Hotel next door).
Same cracking welcome!
Love Leith, Love Edinburgh, Love the Scots & Scotland
Take a drink every time he says 'it is what it is' lol!!!!
Be proper twisted 🤣
as a huge indiana jones fan, the ad was great 🤣💪🏼
Idk why this is so entertaining lol
So the one time you visit a rough place... THE ONE TIME.... You duck tails and get out in a heart beat.
How's the Guinness in that pub, ya melt? 😂😂😂
The Marksman is bouncing from 7am in the morning .Never been in but done lots of work in The Spoons next door over the years
The large flats were featured on trainspotting
Not them ones m8 you must have been watching another film 😂😂😂 the flats that were on trainspotting 2 were the banana flats 😂😂😢
Take yourself to the Laurieston Bar in Glasgow. Best Guinness in Scotland and 3 different Guinness taps.
Every vid starts with a warning of danger and possible carnage followed by....... a few beers and a good day out.😂
Just a habit of saying "kicking off" 🤣
