Clapton was playing in Hyde Park, stayed for the show outside put still heard it great. Ended up getting locked inside the park!!! Jumped the gates to get out man. Thomas a becket pub in the old kent road was very famous. Had a boxing gym upstairs. Henry Cooper used to go there. Closed now but building still there. Best pint of Guinness I would say is the stage door in dartford
London our capital city, my dad was a Londoner he'd have had a good few pints there...in the good old day's. But once again a great video HP 📹 👍 bang on.
Try the pubs in and around Walworth Rd. The Tankard, Gladstone, Good intent, Queen Elizabeth and the Red Lion. All within 10 minutes walk of each other.

Fantastic video as always! I used to live just off the Old Kent Rd for many years. Nelson is a great little pub, I was 10 mins from it. However about 10-15 min walk away is my old local, Duke of Sussex. A fantatsic little local, young and old all chatting and having good craic together just as a pub should be. Because of Millwall you end up watching a lot of lower league football though 🤣

The most famous pubs were in the central part of The Old Kent Road; The Thomas A Becket, The Dun Cow and the World Turned Upside Down. The Boxing Gym above the Becket hosted some famous fighters.
Lived in that area early to mid 90s. Used to drink in the Lord Nelson, Thomas-a-Beckett, Dun Cow (which became a GP surgery!), World Turned Upside Down, Henry Cooper's and also Cockneys. Other good pubs in the area were The Swan, The Free Trader and The Maismore on & around Peckham Park Road. Many of the pubs had music licences so they stayed open late (and often had lock-ins).

Even some spoons can have ridiculous prices, like the one at Liverpool Street station, I paid £6 something for a pint of Stofords cider that's normally £2.60 in every other Spoons. If that's what a spoons is charging, imagine what a small non chain pub will charge in the heart of London? £7/8/9/10 a pint, what young person can afford that ( unless they're from a wealthy family)

Speaking as a recent tourist in London, I actually did visit Whitechapel. I walked more in Spitalfields than Whitechapel, I admit, but stayed in Whitechapel during a previous visit. I just like to walk around all the neighbourhoods, not visit the pubs. I also walked around the posh area you started your video from (Highgate) and saw Marx's tombstone in the cemetery there. Thanks for your videos.

Saw stans blues band on their 1st night in the apples and pears,still going they,re now nine below zero,only dennis the lead singer left,they used to give us complimentary tickets to their gigs when they played other venues.

In Sneinton, there are old pub, which I went to, tat are now flats. They still recognise the heritage. It’s a great walk , with good pubs. Then there is Bulwell.
Another gem danny loved the monopoly theme remember playing that as a kid tell ya what 7 quid a guiness in quorn village Leicestershire so them prices are sound
1988 …16yrs old first job in London, pub for lunch for about 2 half hours then back to work deliver some mail top up some water coolers, fag break then in pub in the evening, obviously not every day ! was every other day 😊. Best times of my life . 😢
Lovely to see a traditional London boozer, it certainly makes the hairs on back of my head stand up. I know there’s a lot of talk of pubs closing and not being as packed as much as they used to be, I mean personally I am one to talk and am guilty of not supporting pubs by attending more often. But drinks in pubs are just so expensive these days and I like many others I know just can’t afford to go as often as I’d like, it’s become like a treat such as going to a restaurant rather than routine. In my parents and grandparents day there weren’t such a thing as off license shops or drinks being sold in supermarkets and the only place to buy your alcohol was in the pub which made them stay afloat.

One of the best boozers I visited on a day on the Ale in London was in a pub called the Salmon and Ball, by Bethnall Green Station. Proper East End pub, only had old fellers in there, watching the racing. I remember it clearly being under a fiver for 2 pints but we were getting charged near £12 around Camden about 15 years ago. Get away from the tourist traps no matter where you visit and you see the real character of the place.

Some nice boozers there mate, lot of original bars & fixtures and fittings. If I walk into a pub that's been 'improved' with drab grey or green paint inside, I walk straight back out, vandalism.

The only real pub left on the OKR is the Lord Nelson a pint of fosters is less than a fiver. .when i was younger there were so many pubs that it was impossible to stop and have a pint in each pub on one side of the road and still be capable of walking back down the other side. I’ve been in all those pubs. You made good choices. There are some rough pubs around there, either you missed them or they’re closed. Can’t go wrong with a Sam Smiths boozer.
Used to live in Bermondsey and Whitechapel back in the 90's and of the pubs you visited only the Anchor Tap looked familiar as I knew someone that lived on that street. Don't think some of the others were as welcoming to a fellow northerner back then.

I’ve been in all those pubs. You made good choices. There are some rough pubs around there, either you missed them or they’re closed.

I was brought up in the pub trade. Always judge a pub on how well they keep their beer.
You can tell by tasting it if the lines are clean etc.
Used to live in Bermondsey and Whitechapel back in the 90's and of the pubs you visited only the Anchor Tap looked familiar as I knew someone that lived on that street. Don't think some of the others were as welcoming to a fellow northerner back then.
Quite afew around there init, deffo looked like there are afew othet hidden gems
