Didn't know a good 6 or 7 of those. Have to make a day of it and visit them all. On the theme of macabre pubs - Have you visited The Magdala pub in Hampstead? The last woman to be sentenced to death in the UK shot her lover outside it in the 50s.
@@StarstruckByLondon always like lining up new and interesting pubs to check out on my business trips from San Diego. Last interesting one was Coach & Horses Barlow place in W1
It’s a true pity that the Thomas a Becket has been knocked down (old Kent road) that was a great pub complete with boxing ring upstairs I believe Henry cooper used to train there amongst other of our wonderful boxers.
The Blind Beggar is supposed to allude to the legend of Henry de Montfort who escaped the Battle of Evesham in 1265 after being blinded. He begged on the crossroads, where the inn stood for centuries before being built as a pub in Victorian times. It’s almost certainly not true but London is full of myths and legends like this
That said, I am not sure about the Swan. It's actually west of where the Tyburn tree was situated. So unless they brought the prisoners from Newgate along an indirect route, I'm not sure there was a major gaol at Notting Hill. I stand to be corrected though.
Thats the wrong Prince of Wales for Adam ant it was the Prince of Wales originally on Prince of Wales Road near kentish town west ,it was actually in the paper ..
Amazing! It takes a septic tank to show us brits our own heritage! Great job man, thanks for posting
I honor your more rich heritage than my own.
Great video! Love the Grenadier, always stop by when I'm in town. Also recently visited the Hawley Arms for the first time. What a place.
I’m sure you’ll enjoy the next video. Coming out this week!
Nice list! Some new ones on there to try. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏼
The white harte was an eerie pub !
I will visit all these pubs when I return to London very soon. Thank you very much Starstruck by London!! I hope to find you in one of them :-)

Yes! There are so many pub stories, I’m sure I’ll do a part 2 eventually.
Great 👍👍👍
Many thanks!

Yes, I have been to 7 of the pubs!
Go hit the last three!
@@StarstruckByLondon I sure will when next in London.

No, that’s a good one. I’ll consider a Haunted Pub video.
Ohh...yes love to see that..Ruth Ellis .
Been to the swan many times - I’ll take you up on a couple of the others
All very interesting pubs. I think I’ll do a part 2 soon. Thanks for watching!

Interesting. Someone told me to check that place out last week.
Cart n Horses Stratford.... get down there !
Will do! Thanks for the rec 🍻
Great vid. However, the Prince of Wales pub you mentioned re Adam Ant was actually on Prince of Wales Rd NW5. It's now been redeveloped.
Yes, that’s been pointed out. My first lesson in double sourcing. But still a great story, don’t you agree?
@@StarstruckByLondon yes it was very interesting. Keep them coming.
The Ten Bells, there is much more history to that pub. I am sure it has the upper hand on The Grenadier ;)
Too much history for one video! Thanks for watching. Keep an eye out for part 2

Nice memory. Thanks for sharing.
Love the titfer (hat) you are a cool guy, enjoying your video of all these pubs.
I appreciate that, mate.

I did read that, but the Krays story was better! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
At 8:25 the picture of the soldier who was cheating at cards is actually a portrait of the Duke of Wellington !
Hopefully that was not implied to be the dead guy. It was just the footage I had to go behind the narration! Thanks for watching 👍🏼
Ten bells was once called the jack the ripper but name was changed !
Nice! I love the chippie next door to the White Hart called Jack the Chipper 😂😂😂
Where is the horse and groom in Belgravia London
7 Groom Place (an alley between Chester and Chapel)
Not a bad effort. Have been to all of those except one

I researched that before filming, double sourced it. Then I saw the story printed on their drink menu. So I’ll go with it!
Thank you ☺️. Which one did you not go to?
@@StarstruckByLondon The Beggar
@@StarstruckByLondon - I live right on Marble Arch and have for 20 years. Was news to me that the prisoners were transported eastwards from NH.
Strange to an American wearing a bowler hat. They are associated with "city gents" but were the original hard hats worn by miners.
Never heard that! But I can assure you, I’ve never been found in a mine! 😂😂😂
The Churchill is in Notting hill reallly. The Windsor castle round the corner is much better
I’ll give the Windsor a try 👍🏼
the man who went into the prince of wells pub u will no him by his stage name adam aint from adam and the aints he was a friend of mine
Thats the wrong Prince of Wales for Adam ant it was the Prince of Wales originally on Prince of Wales Road near kentish town west ,it was actually in the paper ..
Oh no! My research said Primrose Hill. Damn. Thanks, though.
@StarstruckByLondon no worries man Google it ,it says kentish town buddy just updating you we used to drink in there before it became flats great vid
How ridiculous - A yank with a knapsack and a bowler hat - An insult!!!!
Not sure why, but thanks for watching.
Dull
Sorry you feel that way. Thanks for watching anyway.
Very dull
I’ll try harder for you, mate
@@StarstruckByLondonI thought it was very interesting and will keep the pubs in mind when I visit in May..
