I'm practically not far into watching the video but I understand how friendly and accommodative the Slovaks are ; I love them . Hello to all Slovaks 🙌💌
Where I grew up in the 90’s I remember an Afroamerican male visiting the village with his Slovak wife for the first time. It wasn’t unusual since then for the most. I remember the villagers having respect for the couple, being welcome to them because he was the partner/ friend of. immidiatly a fam member. actually very refreshing for the Slovak folks 👍
OMG this is so refreshing, these people seemed to be genuinely warm and nice. I am Brazilian of African descent living in New Zealand. I actually think your video was suggested to me because of your name as we call Andrews Andre in Brazil lol guess it will have to watch more of your vids to learn why. Keep up the good work. You have got a subscriber :)
I often see videos and posts about visible minorities going to backwoods countries that have barely any immigrants from cross continental populations and acting surprised when they are treated well. Well, duh, no shit.. you’re an oddity there. If England or France had the Black population of Slovakia then people would be way more receptive of you visiting. There was an interesting documentary I watched about a group of Japanese Samurai touring Western Europe in the 1800’s. They were so impressed by how they treated like royalty with such respect. The thing is, now the French and English recognize that they are becoming a racial/ethnic minority in their own nation, so obviously and unfortunately they will be less welcoming to their perceived demographic substitutes.
I've been to the Czech Republic for 2 weeks and it was the best vacation I have ever had. Just like the people shown in the clip, they are very friendly, they have the best beer and breathtaking scenery.
TBF I wouldnt be treated as good as you were and I am Slovak :D also really glad to see some people speaking nice fluent english like the girl who was sitting on the bench. Not sure if that is your real experience or you had to cut off many things but generally I think people were super nice to you to try to help you and show around even thought they could not speak english but their hand gestures/ slow talking and repeating stuff made it work. Well done Borinka.
Slovaks are pretty racist in comparison to other nations, wait until they have a large demographic of cross continental people too. That tends to rise racial hostilities
Finally I've found a real traveller. That's my dream as well, brother. Mostly travellers just go for big and famous cities, we need more people in the countryside, including down here in Brazil.
4:07 "on the floor". It's not the floor. If it's outside mate, it's called the ground. I hear this all the time in videos from the UK, people referring to the ground as the floor. An easy way to remember the correct usage is : "Normally, the floor is what you walk on inside a building, and the ground is what you walk on outside." This is the way I was taught in school in the UK in the 1950s/60s. I have lived and worked in two other english speaking countries (currently in Canada) and the ground is never referred to as the floor in those countries. Is this the way it is taught in the UK now?
It shocked her that you could communicate with her like that man. Excellent tour, Sir. Nice to know another nation have a neighbourhood looking like ours in the north of America.
This is so wholesome, keep doing what you love and collecting new experiences on the way! Happy to see some Slovak people being polite and hospitable, pretty refreshing after all we see from our country's people on the internet.
Just a complimentary note. "Dobrý den" is a magic word in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. I had a friend who lived in Prague and quite often had very noisy parties. But at the same time, when he met his neighbours during the day, he would greet everyone with a careful "Dobrý den" and all was forgiven. It's such a Czech charm- if you greet "Dobrý den", you are suddenly a fellow Czech.

If there are not pathways, you should walk on the left side of the road. It is our policy. It might feel a bit counterintuitive at first but it makes a sense. In that way, cars are not approaching you from your back, which is very uncomfortable. You hear the car but do not see it. When walking on the left side of the road, you can see the cars perfectly and have enough time to react if anything goes wrong.

Any place where there's ain't many black people, the few that go there get treated well. But if their numbers keep increasing, racism gets worse too. There nothing much one can do about it since it's human nature to feel like one's interests are threatened by the increasing numbers of people of other races.
Im so happy to hear that as a guy from Bratislava, I think we often have a very unfair perception of our villages being so close minded when in reality the people in the country can be much nicer than in our cities.
@@knowledgebornunderstanding8826 I come from one of the African countries (East Africa to be precise). I have interacted with a good number of people from different countries. Absolutely amazing. Growing up in London, I'm sick to death of people today whining about racism at every opportunity. I've had the pleasure of travelling around Europe and a few parts of The US, and I always tell people, that I've never had an issue anywhere I have travelled. This is because I make the simple effort of saying hello and trying my best to speak the language of where I am and respect their cultures. It can even make their day when you do this. Keep up the good work man!
Yep. I am white and I travel when I have the opportunity. In some places like rural Tibet or Zambia kids were touching me out of curiosity because it was strange for them to see a white hairy being distantly resembling them, lol. I never conflated such reactions with racism, that would be a very one-dimensional view. As you say, simple hello or thank you in their native language is usually enough to warm people up to a stranger. But in some cultures talking to strangers is not common, not even among people of the same ethnicity. In such case I just accept that and let them go about their life. Usually, the harsher the local conditions, the less people open up.

Great video. Bit of a shame however the portrayal of the guy in the thumbnail of this video. He was a very knowledgeable and kind man. Good video though my friend 🇸🇰
He did the same thing when he was in Poland to another guy in the thumbnail. Pretty scummy way to get clicks and disrespectful to the guy in my opinion.

This was a excellent video. This is such a beautiful and peaceful place.I am impressed with how much different languages you spoke.👍🏼🔥

4:07 "on the floor". It's not the floor. If it's outside mate, it's called the ground. I hear this all the time in videos from the UK, people referring to the ground as the floor.
An easy way to remember the correct usage is :
"Normally, the floor is what you walk on inside a building, and the ground is what you walk on outside." This is the way I was taught in school in the UK in the 1950s/60s.
I have lived and worked in two other english speaking countries (currently in Canada) and the ground is never referred to as the floor in those countries. Is this the way it is taught in the UK now?

If there are not pathways, you should walk on the left side of the road. It is our policy. It might feel a bit counterintuitive at first but it makes a sense. In that way, cars are not approaching you from your back, which is very uncomfortable. You hear the car but do not see it. When walking on the left side of the road, you can see the cars perfectly and have enough time to react if anything goes wrong.

I had a wonderful time when I visited Bratislava, Slovakia in 1995. I ate a traditional Slovak meal at a restaurant, walked all around the city, and went up into the "flying saucer" suspension bridge tower. The very friendly waiter at the restaurant taught me how to say "thank you" in Slovakian, "dakujem".
