Bodycam: Cops Arrest 12-Year-Old Girl for Allegedly Stabbing Little Brother to Death in Oklahoma

- Bodycam footage has been released showing the arrest of a 12-year-old girl in Tulsa, Oklahoma in January after she allegedly stabbed her 9-year-old brother to death while their mother was asleep. According to the Tulsa Police Department, the young suspect admitted to the deadly stabbing after being taken into custody. The bodycam video depicts the middle school student being placed in handcuffs and put into the back of a police cruiser.

In the footage, the 12-year-old girl can be heard repeatedly apologizing and at times praying out loud, saying she wants forgiveness. She questions the arresting officer about whether the handcuffs are necessary, stating "I'm a good child." The girl proceeds to ask multiple times if she is going to jail before making the statement "my life is over." Due to the open investigation and the suspect being a minor, portions of the bodycam video have been redacted and blurred by authorities in compliance with department policies.

The pain in mom's voice is just gut wrenching. She lost both her babies in one fell swoop. My heart goes out to her.

To lose a child as a parent is horrible. For it to be murder is heartbreaking. Having the murderer be your other child, is soul wrenching. The mother is going through the worst pain imaginable and she is in my prayers.

The cop in the footage handled this so gently. He was as kind as he could be to a girl who thought her life was over. There is so much respect for that man. Thank you for showing her kindness in her darkest moments 😢

That's funny, my dad had a similar thing with my brother and I. When we would say "Sorry" for something we had done multiple times in the past he would tell us that if we really meant it then we wouldn't do it again, otherwise we weren't truly sorry. So the running joke/saying became "Don't say sorry, just don't do it."

I tend to agree because we emulate those who raise us and because it said in an article that she stopped taking the ADHD meds when she started cutting herself which shows severe mental and emotional issues and those don't just come from nowhere....
As the middle child of 5 this is indeed heart breaking I could never imagine hurting my siblings in that way. My heart goes out to the mum the little boy that was killed and the daughter.

I think we all know that there are people out there who have it worse, but when you are in the middle of your own crisis it doesn’t really help you unless you can learn something from their situation that will help you. And no it doesn’t make you feel better because now you feel as though you have no right to be upset about your situation. I hope people will just stop saying that. If they don’t know what to say I wish they would just acknowledge that they don’t know what to say to help. A simple “I wish there was something I could say that would help you get through this but you know you can always talk to me and I’ll just listen.”

as an 18 year old with a 9 year old brother, watching this made me sick to my stomach. i could never imagine hurting my siblings in any way. i’m not sure what she was going through mentally because i haven’t read up enough on the situation but in any mindset i cannot imagine EVER EVER doing something like this. i would never forgive myself and i don’t know how things would ever possibly be normal again for the family. i feel so terribly sorry for that family and that little boy.
Basically she has problems with hallucinations with the medication she is taking. The reason this happened is because she was switching medications.

@@koalaplays8855 as i said in my original post i personally do not know about what she was dealing with and i understand mental illness. schizophrenia is absolutely not an excuse to kill your brother (though obviously it isn’t much of a choice, still doesn’t excuse the fact of what she did), as i said i PERSONALLY cannot understand a mindset in which “i” would do that.
i was in this mental headspace a few years ago. im 15 now and i also hurt my little brother. obviously im not a parent but when your kid comes to you about ANYTHING, dont brush it off as hormones or a phase. get the help before it’s too late. even if it does turn out to be “not as serious”, therapy benefits everyone

I was in a pretty bad place as a teenager too. I'm about to be 32 now. I don't wanna be the annoying preachy adult here but just promise me you'll never let yourself turn to drugs or alcohol. I did an it almost ruined my life. I was able to rebuild the massacre i turned my life into but it took years. I don't know if you've gotten help since you were in that bad head space but I'm glad you're doing better now. Even if things go south again later just don't ever EVER let yourself turn to substance use. I don't know why but you just reminded me of myself at that age and I just felt compelled to try and warn you. Stay on the right track and you'll do great things in life. 💜💜
She never went to her parents, nor did she show any warning signs of mental instability. As a matter of fact her mom said that what she did was totally out of her character and she never had any behavioral issues before.

In a split second the daughters life and that of her mothers has changed forever. What amazes me is how the cop remained so calm during it all. Real heartbreaking.
The mother still has custody of her 2 surviving children. They still have healing between both of them. The girl is going to many therapists and mental health specialists every hour of the day. It was a very big mistake because the medication for the ADHD had already taken affect in a way where she was dangerous but had no indicators.

This is sad and horrific. A family destroyed. Despite the traumatic circumstances, the officers handled the situation with genuine care and compassion, and should be commended for their professionalism.
I’m a 17 year old son, and hearing the moms screeches basically pleading for her child’s life. I’m going to cry.

One of the most horrifyingly tragic things throughout this video is that the girl isn't aware she's just killed her brother, and the mother isn't aware that the attack was fatal. They both are still clearly under the wrong impression that he will live. "He will never forgive her", says the mother. Kid never saw it coming and couldn't forgive her even if he wanted

The officer on duty did say he got a call from the doctor that the victim was still breathing and "all good things". It's not like they assumed.
In the beginning she clears says “you killed him” but later in the video when one of the cops sat down to speak with the mother and he tells her he spoke with the doctors and they said everything is looking good, that’s why she says that. Thinking he was alive .

The way this amazing officer handled this situation, which must have been horrific for him to see, was amazing. The kind calm way he spoke with the girl, listening to her and keeping her calm and being so gentle with her. What an awful sad situation for everyone involved.

No she actually “hallucinated” of her medication the one she takes has multiple stories about the same thing happening an the patients not remembering most of what happened like a guy on the same medication took more then he was supposed to an woke up in the hospital the next day an after in jail already found out he stabbed his wife 28 or 29

I agree, she didn’t ask anything about her brother and she seemed so over whelmed over everything but once the officer had told her to go to jail she had to be 13 or older she seemed so relieved and at that point I asked myself if she was even sorry about what she had done. Although she had shouted curse words and said sorry over and over again I am contemplating if she meant all of what she said.
The daughter is supposedly coming home from treatment soon & the mom is suing her landlords for removing her daughter from the lease without her knowledge & trying to give them a 2 bedroom apartment. A room for her & a room for her surviving son. She fell out with the friends she was staying with because they do not want her daughter in their house.

This is got me in tears, I have 3 boys and there was a point a long time ago my middle and oldest would fight so bad and they’d say scary threatening things so I got them in therapy because my imagination would go to places like this. I look back now and I’m so glad I did even though at the time I kinda felt like I was overreacting cause ya, brothers fight. you just never know, it only takes one split decision in a bout of anger and then it’s too late forever.
This is so a traumatic way to lose both of your kids , imagine being a mum and having to experience this 😢.

As with 99% of these situations, the parent likely did miss something or do something wrong. In the video, mom says about the daughter that "she doesn't even swear" but we can hear her swearing like a sailor around the cops. We also find out that she cuts herself, that her and her brother don't get along, and that she's left alone at 12 to babysit her younger siblings. It's also a broken family, different dads and non-present dads. I don't think they're all terrible people, but I'm sure more could have been done during these kids' upbringings.

I just looked this case up. From what I've found, it appears this possibly was a result of the young woman being on a medication that had lead to self harm, and that this was likely a manic episode. This is SO heartbreaking. I've personally encountered someone that had a weeks-long manic episode and it's incredibly bizarre and mind-boggling to observe and interact with. My heart goes out to this family.
We can’t even begin to make that assumption considering the mom won’t release what the medication is that the 12 year old child was taking except that it was NOT for psychiatric purposes.
From what I heard, the medication was already out of her system for 6 months and could not have been related to it. It could have been from a previous argument with her brother, or maybe even drugs, who knows. It’s clear she was in need of help though, especially since she cut herself first before killing her brother, and the countless other cuts. It’s truly a nightmare scenario and I would never wish this on anyone

Mom also apparently said she had no hx of mental illness but if she was cutting she most certainly has mental illness. So much differing info doesn’t make sense. Very sad regardless.

The amount of professionalism in the responding officer is outstanding. The compassion he was able to show while still being professional and getting the information he needed was incredible. The way he remains as calm as possible was really great too. He was able to be more productive and the poor mother was able to give him what they needed. Praying for this poor mother and her family. Truly tragic.

As someone with mental illness who is also a minor, but older than this girl. I too have had those thoughts, only when im off my meds. They usually restrict me from having those thoughts and especially acting on them. Parents are super vital when it comes to a child’s mental health, or even the kid having resources. I’ve been in mental health counseling and therapy since i was 12 and it has helped me out a ton. I wish this girl could’ve got the help she needed especially if she was having such dangerous thoughts. My heart goes out to the family

I know she had been taking prescribed medications for ADHD for like 5 years or something, which are known to cause behavioral issues (especially to kids) such as anger, anxiety and psychosis.
