    Thank You sooo much for these interviews. Your interview with Chrissy Zmijewski & this one have had a profound impact on my healing path by plainly addressing the deleterious effects of fear and anxiety on my recovery & long-term wellness. Thanks so much for this, as someone with long covid for over a year now, I fully believe that mind body connection and TMS is the key to recovery and have recently started the journalling. So true that uncertainty and stress perpetuates the illness and in my case I think its fear of relapse keeping me in a vicious circle of chronic fatigue. Hopefully there will be more mind body awareness in the future when it comes to healing, thank you for sharing 🙏

    Hi Rebecca. Saw your interview on Dan's channel and found your RUclips. I got Covid March 2020 and I'm still completely disabled and still have over 70+ symptoms including all the symptoms of a TBI. I haven't been able to read or look at screens in 2 yrs, can barely communicate as it uses too much energy. I am seeing some very slow improvement. But like many others, I've been diagnosed with an autoimmune version of dysautonomia post-covid. (ACHr gangliopathy). So I feel like the mind body approach might not be enough for me. I'm still doing the work, but how do I get beyond the doubt? I see people with mild long covid recovering quickly with this work, it's inspiring, but when you're at the severe end of the spectrum it can be disheartening. ❤️

I did recover and have seen other people with moderate to severe cases of post-viral syndromes recover too. It can take some real patience and dedicated, sustained practice of these techniques. If you're diagnosed with post-Covid and you previously had a positive Covid test, you may qualify for an amazing clinical study through a Harvard doctor. They're recruiting a few more people. Hi Chris, I'm sorry to hear of your suffering. As you noted, it's important to get checked by a doctor to make sure there's nothing treatable. But I had many of the symptoms you describe, including food sensitivities that showed up on labs. After trying many herbs and interventions, I finally came to understand that my brain had developed a conditioned response to certain foods but I didn't really have food allergies. (Tests showed I was sensitive to foods but I overcame them through Howard Schubiner's book Unlearn Your Pain). As long as you've been cleared medically, I've found this work to be very very helpful! If you've tested positive for Covid previously, you might look into a wonderful mind-body study using this approach. You can learn more and find a link on this blog:

      @@rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach Thank you so much, Rebecca, for taking the time to reply. I will check out the resources you mentioned. Does the book go over how to reintroduce foods that you might be reacting to? I've tried a few times without great success and want to feel confident about doing this moving forward. Are all of your food sensitivities gone now? @@ChrisZFit It's my pleasure! I also had to take quite a few rounds of antibiotics so I understand the dilemma. But trust your body can rebound from this! In Howard Schubiner's book Unlearn Your Pain, he clearly spells out how "food sensitivities" develop through learned associations in the brain. His clear, scientific explanation dispelled my myths and relieved my fears of certain foods. Once you understand these foods are not dangerous, you slowly reintroduce them with safety messages, being sure not to worry if you get symptoms in the beginning. That's what I did and yes, I've overcome the food sensitivities. So can you!

    Superb interview. Most helpful. Here is a question: I face shortness of breath and back pain even after two months of Covid. Besides regular shortness of breath, if I do a long exhale, I start hyper ventilating. All medical reports and scans are normal. I am convinced it is TMS. However despite the conviction, any attempt to do 4-5 long exhale leads to a total relapse. Would you two lovely ladies have any suggestion for me as to how do i navigate this difficult terrain? Thank you so much.

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  2 года назад +2

      I'm so glad you're seeing your symptoms as TMS, Krishna! The brain can link neutral, or even healthy, stimuli with danger when it's aroused. The great news is you retrain your brain that a long exhale is safe. You want to start slowly, first just imagining that you are taking a longer breath. Keep telling yourself that you are safe and that this long exhale is good for you. Notice and feel any sensations like anxiety or shortness of breath that arise in your body while you are imagining it. It's called graded exposure and it's highly effective for overcoming fears and phobias of all kinds. You can also do the same exercise watching someone else do long exhales, such as in a video, but not actually doing them yourself until you can imagine it with ease and comfort. Then you want to take longer breaths very slowly, making the exhale only one count longer than the inhale and so forth. Does that make sense?
      I have a couple free somatic meditations on my website and you can adapt them to your breath:
      www.rebeccatolin.com/blog/somatic-tracking

      Dear Luke, I am so sorry you are suffering so much. I second William's words. You can recover from this! After the acute virus passes, symptoms can be generated by a hypervigilant brain and nervous system. You want to find ways to process your emotions and calm your fear.

    Interesting interview. I have a question for you regarding your brain fog. I suffered brain fog 4 days after my second covid shot and has never gone away since. In fact it's so much to the point of debilitating. I'm interested in TMS and took the test and I do have score of 39. I'm in Tustin California and curious about how you were able to recover from your brain fog. That is the worst thing that's holding me back right now. I would like to get some more information about this but I'm also want to make sure that this is legit. Sorry to be so blunt but that's how I roll. Rodger

      Hi Rodger, Great question and I'm sorry to hear about the brain fog. That's a very common mind-body symptom, considering you've ruled out anything pathological. Generally, a side effect would come more quickly and dissipate sooner. But when the nervous system and brain are on high alert, they can continue to perpetuate brain fog after the vaccine or virus have passed. In fact, brain fog is a common sign of a dysregulated nervous system. The good news it that it's not a disease! You want to find ways to lower fear and calm your nervous system. I highly recommend Howard Schubiner's book "Unlearn Your Pain," which also addresses symptoms like brain fog. That was a primary symptom for me with ME/CFS and I speak about this in other videos. Often doctors say there's inflammation but it can be an effect, not the cause of symptoms. I was told I had high inflammation too during the CFS years and I recovered through the TMS work. Hi there, I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so awful. To clarify, pneumonia is an infection that must be treated by medical professionals. It's NOT what we call TMS or mind-body symptoms. It's really important to follow the doctor's guidelines for any active and acute infection, including pneumonia and Covid. Sarah and I are discussing post-Covid or long-Covid symptoms, which occur without any tissue damage. As long as doctors have ruled out active infection or tissue damage, we look to the mind-body connection to recover from chronic symptoms. This is not mind over matter. It's about finding a precise and accurate cause, and treatment, for chronic symptoms that are perpetuated by the brain and nervous system. I hope that helps!

    • @sarahrainwater683
      @sarahrainwater683 2 года назад +2

      Not at all. Unfortunately, none of this is simply: "all in your head." It's truly neurological issue. All pain, is manifested in the brain... even when you burn your hand on the stove! Yes, your body had Covid and was sick for a bit, but then got better. HOWEVER, your brain got stuck in that neural circuit pattern... often times because of emotions, let me explain. Your amygdala is a smoke detector. It uses emotions to detect if there is a problem in your environment, all in order to keep you alive. When you feel fear and hopelessness, you body responds with a fight or flight response to keep you alive! Figuratively speaking, your brain is "burning it's hand" over and over again because you have not yet turned off the alarm system... the emotions. The "smoke alarm"' does not shut off because you keep telling it it should be scared of something (it's not your fault... this is how our brains are wired). If your tests are normal, your body is OK. NOW you have to get your amygdala (your smoke detector) to turn off. To answer your question, your pain is REAL, but the source is no longer Covid, it's your brain. Hope that helps.

      Getting depression and anxiety, unfortunately, is a normal part of the breaking the fight or flight response loop. As your body takes the emotion, that is stuck in a fight or flight response, from the amygdala to the prefrontal cortex (the problem solving part of your brain), the emotion becomes more actualized (anxiety and depression). Be safe, first and for most, and get help if you need it. But also, treat the anxiety and depression like another physical manifestation of the emotion, and keep practicing the TMS strategies to break those anxiety/depression symptoms. See resource links under this video to help you find some of those strategies.

Ive started DNRS and lots of recovery videos. I have watched this video twice now and it’s helped so much. Thankyou xx

    If the sleeping medications didn’t work, how did this delightful woman cope ? No sleep ?

      The book, Say Goodnight to Insomnia, by Gregg Jacobs, really helped with my insomnia post Covid. It's also cognitive behavioral therapy based, so it goes so well with your TMS-pain work. The whole first part basically explains that you don’t need as much sleep as you think you do to be healthy, thus stopping your fight or flight response around sleep (and trained neural pathway). It helps create ambivalence around sleep, which paradoxically, helps you to fall asleep easier. The second part has structured sleep schedules to kick start your brain retraining around sleep. I never needed the schedule, the behavioral therapy is all I needed. Great reviews. Mentioned on almost all insomnia forums. Very similar process as pain brain retraining. Harvard professor based book I believe. Good research.

      Thank you Sarah! Great explanation. I think you told me about Say Goodnight to Insomnia and I'm so grateful! It helped stabilize my sleep, along with the TMS work including somatic tracking. Interesting that you didn't need the sleep schedule. Which strategies helped you the most? Great to see your comment pop up!

      Doctors in this field point to the brain's danger signal as the cause of MCAS in many cases. I've seen a number of people recover through this approach, including Chrissy Zmijewski who was diagnosed with MCAS.
