  • Leon Williams went from being homebound to healthy through mind-body healing! The London actor and father fell ill with Long Covid during a very stressful time in his life. For nearly two years, he could no longer work or help care for his two young children-until he realized his symptoms were caused by his brain and nervous system. Leon embraced this mind-body approach, coined TMS by Dr. John Sarno and MBS by Dr. Howard Schubiner, and made a full recovery!

    I'm about 60% recovered now from Long Covid. I spent 4 months bedbound before discovering CBT. I credit that with getting me out of bed in February. By March I began to take short walks (3-7 minutes) and didn't need to sit in the shower or while brushing my teeth anymore. I then began expressive writing, anger expression and somatic tracking in March. By the end of that month I was moving around the house more and making my own meals again. I even began some very light chores. My longest walk is now 13 minutes and I hope to take a 20 minute walk within the next 3-4 weeks.
    That said, I've noticed a huge uptick in sleepless nights and sensations this last month. I can only guess this is from the emotional work I'm doing and the increased movement. Somatic tracking has really helped me manage my reaction to very uncomfortable sensations that LC throws at me and this is imperative to get well in my opinion. However, late at night/early morning when the sensations come, that's when I'm at my weakest and the wheels often come off the bus. If I could figure out how to manage those tough nights, I feel my recovery would be faster. I hope that the more emotional work and anger expression that I do, that the insomnia gets better and I can reach the next level of healing. The insomnia is the one thing that really breaks me.
    I have to remind myself that my worst days now are far better than my best days when this all started. The hardest part for me is the constant up/down days. Mentally, physically and emotionally it's a tough road and can be exhausting. We must all remain resilient, persistent and have compassion for ourselves. I never imagined I would be at this point 3 months ago, and am positive it will get even better in another 3 months!
    I love this recovery stories and watch one per day. Keep up the great work. I hope anybody reading this finds their way. We will get through this!

      You are amazing! What incredible progress! It does take resilience, persistence and self-compassion, doesn't it? But, you have wonderful tools and clearly your are creating more safety in your brain and body. Fantastic work!!
      Insomnia was my most persistent symptom (for 13+ years) so I'm very sympathetic. A combination of mind-body healing, as described on this channel, and CBTi helped me. Neurofeedback can be helpful too.
      As we move up the Polyvagal ladder, our system can go into flight-fight activity, which can cause insomnia. The emotional work is important for sure but I recommend focusing on soothing activities in the evenings to reassure your subconscious brain that you're okay.
      I offer sleep guides with my tips in my Be Your Own Medicine course, along with 25 somatic meditations and other tools to find homeostasis. But it sounds like you're doing great! You will get through this!

    Wonderful to hear! I've got a flu that's lingering - the sore throat and cough keep coming back, though the other symptoms are long gone and my energy is much better. I know this is mind-body, as I was silenced in a trauma, plus fear as I had learned some difficult things about coughing and the harm it can do the vocal cords - so that fear likely made all the coughing of the flu scarier and worse. It's SO good to hear someone going through this and recovering. Thank you, Rebecca, for sharing this.

For me, sleeping meds didn't make me feel better due to the side effects. An anti-anxiety med called Trazadone helped take the edge of insomnia a bit. Hi Rebecca & Leon, I can't thank you enough for this video. This truly gives me so much hope and it resonates with me 100%. I just discovered this approach so I am quite new, and I have one thing that really is in the way of believing it a 100% in my case, namely: I suffer from burn-out instead of long covid. In this video and in other video's and information on this approach, burn-out is not mentioned once. That makes me doubt whether this approach will also work for me. I am from the Netherlands and maybe its just a cultural thing what we name our illnesses, but I would really love to hear from you whether burn-out is just the same and if this will work for me too. That will hopefully give me additional evidence and increased belief that this is the right way for me!! Really curious to hear what you think, looking forward to it.

      I feel for you and want you to know that you CAN get better! I highly recommend my Be Your Own Medicine course and we're opening registration this week! I only teach it once or twice a year. Many people who have done Gupta and other brain rewiring programs say this course gave them something more. You might want to watch Kayley's and Poppy's recovery videos on my Success page, as they had done Gupta before my course. I only do coaching for people who take my course as it's far more effective and affordable, and often not needed. I'd love to have you!

    I'm reading a lot of talk about spike protein and how to.destroy it with supplements. Is that necessary for long covid or is a mind body approach enough? Thx

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  6 месяцев назад

      I know it gets confusing! These are all unproven theories about spike proteins and such. I was told many of the same things 15 years ago for CFS. Our brain controls all the other systems in our body, including our immune system. Many people are recovering from solely working with the brain and nervous system since we see that as the root cause!

    Hi Rebecca
    I've recently started mind body healing and it's already showing improvements for long covid.
    One thing that doesn't quite reconcile for me if that long covid studies have shown Micro clots with LC sufferers. This isn't a standard test though, with available tests not identifying anything wrong
    Could being stuck in flight or flight cause the clots?

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach
      @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach  Год назад +2

      I''m so glad mind-body healing is already help you, Mark! Great question and admittedly that's not my area of expertise, so I can't comment on why micro clots are showing up. It makes sense that a dysregualted nervous system, or inactivity, could play a role. The other question I'd have is: are the micro clots actually causing the Long Covid symptoms?
      I spent tens of thousands of dollars on expensive tests that revealed things like Epstein Barr, Lyme bacteria, mitochondrial malfunctioning, adrenal exhaustion, candida etc. Treating those was a dead-end for me over my 13-year odyssey. As soon as I embraced this branch of mind-body healing, I recovered from it all.
      If you're seeing results already, I encourage you to continue on and not let untested theories scare you!
      If you want a systematic approach to recovery, I only teach my Be Your Own Medicine class once or twice a year and we start this week! Past students have recovered from Long Covid through this program. We'd love to have you!

I saw I can watch on demand, though I'm sure it would be better to participate live. Thank you for your videos and all that you do for the mecfs, long covid etc community
      Ps: I forgot to mention I have long covid pots. I'm doing a combo of the standard treatments for POTS as well as self led mind body work

    What if you've been sick your whole life and have been in constant fight/flight. Then having cancer and dealing with side effects, agmoust traumas etc. I'm 42 and I've always felt that way as apposed to being healthy than getting sick. Thats a lot of conditioning. I don't remember being healthy. After covid I got thicker blood causing edema and had a tooth pulled out after abscess, and it's been 6 months and it hasn't healed. It should take a few day's, so I'm having trouble trusting my body. Apologies for the negativity. Thank you, your amazing

    • @rebeccatolinmind-bodycoach

      I hear you and am so sorry for all your suffering. ❤ It's not negative at all. I sense a lot of self-awareness and strength to endure all you have. It's fairly common that people are in flight-fight much of their lives and go onto develop a range of symptoms. It can take dedicated attention and intention to learn to calm your nervous system and process your emotions... but it's so worth it! I recommend both 1:1 work with a trauma-informed therapist (if you can) and my Be Your Own Medicine course. I include loads of somatic meditations and ways to unpack long-standing patterns. I'm sending healing love your way! 🥰
