It is sooo refreshing to watch a crafting video from a woman with REAL working hands! I’ve seen some videos from crafters with crazy long nails and huge rings -- how do they even handle the paper and glue?!?!?! Aren’t they afraid of messing up their manicure? I just can’t relate, I guess. I always have ink or paint or glue or some kind of stain and maybe a paper cut or two!
Worth every minute. Your solution to the liner paper is what really happens to us. I’m always using ingenuity to get me out of trouble! Thanks for being real.
You can keep these videos going forever . I love watching your creativity and all the ideas. Thank you Nik for sharing with us . I also agree with Sue. Keep it coming .
I am enjoying this series so so much, Nik .. I wouldn’t mind if your videoes went on for hours and hours .. Netflix go home (or give Nik 30 seasons) .. Kissesandhugses 🥰
I would love that too BUT I think Nik would be superstressed if they wanted to make a tv show out of this. I love this just the way it is, and you can always make a list of her videos and watch them over and over :D
I love the way you work: Thinking of ideas while you have glued the background, not meassure but eyeball amd realize that your eyes are not standing straight. Working with scraps, things you have in your stash...That's making a junk journal IMHB
This is fabulous! What a fantastic gift for a letter writer or journaler, I don’t know where your ideas come from, but I love them (and the colors of this project)!
This is like a matryoshka doll -- something inside something inside somethin' inside somethin' inside sumthin'. . . . .ingenious and so creative. Thanks a million, Nik.
Nik: this is so much fun to watch!! As usual, I learn SO much from you and your great videos. Honestly, I can't get over how you can start with a clean slate and then pop up with these fantastic folders, pockets, flips, etc. You make it seem so easy! THANK you again for your generosity in sharing your artistic ideas and work. You are by far my favorite video-ographer!!
Haha! That's basically what I was going to say. I get thoroughly caught up and mesmerized by the whole process. I'm actually too intimidated to attempt a project, but I *pretend* that I will someday, so I *need* to watch Nik very closely....for hours...and hours. LOL Her creativity is off the charts.
LOVE THIS SERIES CANT WAIT FOR THE NEXT VIDEO!! I always talk to things in fact my crafting has sound effects... anytime I’m excited about an idea or process when explaining what I’m thinking or how I did something to my fiancé I make noises instead of using words he always gets a chuckle when I do 😂 spraying things, shaking glitter, cutting paper, mixing, swirling..... they all have a different noise!
Wow -- for no plan this is turning out beautifully! Converting these laptops into junk journals - It's a whole new love for me (past two months). Your style adds even more love to it! Thank you for doing this! Never expected all these little videos. I knew your unique style would do wonders!
Wow! I just found you and watched this video and it is Awesome! You do a wonderful job of explaining as you go along and it’s been very informational for me! I am chronically ill so it takes me forever to get things done but I have been stocking up on my supplies so that I can begin making these types of albums! I have learned more in your 23 minute video than I have in the past several months watching different people! I really like your sewing and all your pockets it’s very intriguing when you have several little flips, tucks, pockets etc. the more the better! Thank you so much for sharing with us and teaching us!
I’m enjoying this series so much that on my lunch hour today I went to a local thrift shop to look for two books the same size in order to build my own lap book. Can’t wait for part 4
This series is so inspirational!! Going to the free bin at our local used book store!! I have a sewing machine and it scares me to use...I must overcome this issue!! Thanks for being so generous with your time and talent!!
OMG Nik, even at about only 1/4 or less done it is already amazing. I am loving this. Just fabulous sweetie. Thx for the start of a great series. Toodles
I really love your videos, all of them I have seen!!! Some of the things you say and do reminds me of me!!! You are so much fun to watch and listen to!!! I am loving this series a lot!!! It's hard for me to stop watching, to get things done, lol!!! 💗😍👵hugs too!
Ok, Lapbook is added to my "wanna make it" list. It's gonna have to wait until after your Adventures in Booksmithing course though. So many projects going at once right now. But I'm loving it!
Loving every minute of this series Nik !!! You are making my day cause there you are and I get to watch you again … so great and really think this is something Special !!! Thanks Nik ❤️❤️❤️ Hadn’t really thought much about a Lapbook but I am now !!!
Loving this series so fun. I love the way you think I do the same thing have an idea and then when I start working on it it turns into something else. Creativity at work.
I LOVE THIS PROJECT!! TFS. As for the old, crackling paper, here's a great way to fix that. Take one of the back (blank) layers from a paper napkin and mod podge it to the BACK of the old paper. It makes it plyable. Hope this helps. 🤗 from Texas.
I can hardly wait for part 4. I am loving this series so much. Ya I had to buy a new sewing machine as mine started to smell like burning wires. Stressed me out not having my sewing machine....for one day. Lol. I'm fine now.
Ever since i watched Mike Deakin make one of these things, I've been chomping at the bit to see your take on it. I made one for my best friend, who is a home health nurse, to take along with her to patients' homes for notes and such with a pocket for her phone. It came out awesome! Think I'm gonna start another one tonight. ❤
I'm thinkin' I should do a youtube show because I sound exactly like you when I talk to myself all day - except 42K people aren't ever going to hear me!! Love it and all your ideas!
I just bought that Uhu glue stick , honestly I thought I was just being a sucker cause I saw a bunch of youtubers using it ..I was pleasantly surprised to find out how good it is. (I usually but the Elmer’s craft bond glue stick ) they are pretty much the same price depending on where you buy it ... I do want to warn some people if you are going to buy it check your local craft store first. I was super surprised to see it on amazon for almost double - or double check the links , some are for multiples which makes the price good. But some suppliers on amazon are ripping people off. (
Yesss! A third part as I was waiting for.You finaly found a way of hiding the piece of paper glued behind the file folder! That was my questionning in your second video...lol This project takes a good way and a good look.I love that kind of "book" ,it 's gonna be an idea of a "matching" present besides a junk journal. Thanks for sharing your amazing work ,Nik. Have a nice day.Hugs from France Christine
Hugs right back to you, Christine! * I haven't filled up the journal you sent yet...can you believe it? Its got so many pages! Thank you so much, again =) *
Nik, my two favourite narrators and craftspeople are yourself and Jibid Neary. You two are so different in your styles and approaches to design but both of you are so very entertaining, talented and inspiring to spend time with. Thanks.
Nik, thank you so much for this series. I have been wanting to make something for my family history records for ages but couldn't get beyond the initial concept of 4 cover leaves. My mind is now buzzing.
Cliffhanger! What will you do next? Yes, this series is great. It needs it's own playlist it's so great. I can't wait to see what you come up with for the rest of the lapbook. Thanks Nik for inspiring us.
I usually watch you on my phone, not allowing me to comment (I am a neanderthal in some areas), but I do pretty much watch everything you post. I have to say you are my inspiration and a marvel at what you do. Truly a Booksmith at its best. this is just so COOL....
I love your videos, Nik! The longer, the better. You're the best and most creative. I also find that if I use a smaller bottle of Fabri-Fix, that it doesn't have the chance to get as gloppy and fill it up from a bigger bottle of it to keep it filled up. Just a thought.
Thanks Nik this is looking awesome as always so far! P.S. I always talk to inanimate objects, I say as I talk to my tablet screen. Lol! Glad to know I’m not the only one. 😉
Loving this series as always. Was thrilled I had it to watch after a long day at work. I’ve been chatting away to the video in response to your questions - like you can hear me! Lol. You’ve made a tough day end with a smile. Thanks Nik xx
This is more then enjoyable this is awesome and I say the same as Sue h. I could watch you and listen to you for HOURS. Thank you so much for sharing this and thank you so much for being so funny.
Thank you so much! I've been enjoying this series so much and then you go and answer a question I've been trying to figure out for a while.... how to loosen up my Fabric glue that's gotten to think! You are a wealth of information and inspiration to me.
Nik, if this is a "no planning project," I would love to see your thought out planned projects...You blow us all away with your unique ideas and execution. Ambitious lapbook comes to perfection with minimal paper supplies and maximum creativity. Love watching you. And, thanks for making us laugh.
Fabulous!!!! You are a tonic Nik........ I talk to anything that listens, haha! I answer your questions too. You have to be a little nutty to add spice to life. Can't wait for part 4. xox
Love the way youre always so full of ideas, I'm making one along with you a bit smaller and different pockets but am having way loads of fun and cant wait for the next episode xx thank you
I absolutely love this...and now am going to make 5 of these for my daughters and daughter in laws for Christmas....thanks so much enoying this series but no surprise as I like all yoou videos.
Great minds think alike! I use nail polish remover as a paint thinner as well! AND... I leave the bottle on its side to make it flow more quickly when it’s low... less driving-me-crazy glue bubbles!!! 💕
I AM ENJOYING THIS VERY MUCH-THIS IS SO NICE-I LOVE IT NIK-YOU ARE VERY AMAZING AT MAKING THINGS-AND YOU SAVED A BOOK COVER-SO THAT IS EXTRA SPECIAL-THANKS SO MUCH FOR SHARING,AND BLESSING OUR DAY-HUGS/BLESSINGS
I really like what you're doing. Especially "talking to inanimate objects" I do talk a little less now cuz I used to talk to my cats. They're in little boxes now so I still talk to them.

If I had not seen you put the scraps on the edge, I would never have know it was pieced together. Great job!
That glue is very popular with mixed media artists. And that scrapbook paper is so beautiful. I love how the two go together.
Worth every minute. Your solution to the liner paper is what really happens to us. I’m always using ingenuity to get me out of trouble! Thanks for being real.
Merci pour ta générosité! Ton projet est merveilleux et ce partage de ton talent et de tes connaissances est un véritable cadeau!
I second that!! Need more time lol
Yes...I third that...;)
I would love that too BUT I think Nik would be superstressed if they wanted to make a tv show out of this. I love this just the way it is, and you can always make a list of her videos and watch them over and over :D
We want to take really good care of Nik 🥰
I totally agree! I love your talent but also your humor!!!

Me: “Not long enough for me because I could watch you do this for HOURS!”
Me tooooo!

I get thoroughly caught up and mesmerized by the whole process.
I'm actually too intimidated to attempt a project, but I *pretend* that I will someday, so I *need* to watch Nik very closely....for hours...and hours. LOL

Take one of the back (blank) layers from a paper napkin and mod podge it to the BACK of the old paper. It makes it plyable. Hope this helps. 🤗 from Texas.
Oh wow, that's brilliant!
I have to write that down and keep it with my craft stuff, because I WILL forget it otherwise.
Thanks for sharing the tip. 😁

Good to know about the acetone in the glue! Great tip! Love this series too!
Yes, just this glue...always thin glue down with whatever they are based with. Like Mod Podge is water based, so it is thinned with water =)
You’re such a joy to watch! Thanks for sharing this! It will be one to try for sure ❤️🌹
