My mother was an elementary school librarian. I learned rebinding and book repair from her. “Where the Sidewalk Ends” was the first book I rebound on my own for her.

  • @theresewallentin2856

    Two things.

  • @tharp2499

While at a friends house in 1996, my 29yo younger brother, and only sibling, was the victim of homicide, in the middle of the road, perpetuated by a complete stranger who had been terrorizing the neighborhood in recent weeks. The sh00t3r was eventually caught, eight years later, pled down to "voluntary manslaughter", and was sentenced to 10 years.

They definitely need to change the laws!! I heard this story a while back and it blew my mind that her family had to watch the " killer" ( allegedly) walk away!!! I haunt that little girl til my dieing day if it was my child. I'd make sure everyone she came in contact with knew what she was!!! I can't imagine the pain her family went through!!!! You always make rebinding a book look so easy!!! Flawless ❤❤❤

  • @mandyofmarymac

I couldn't agree more with regards to the "closure" debate. You are 100% correct. There is no closure for the family. Like millions of others, I know first-hand. I love your CraftTime Mysteries.. Thanks.

  • @Jeannette.akaJnett

You find the neatest cases and I so enjoy watching you work as you share them with us. It is sick and sad the hearts of some people. I'm certain the family cries out for justice, but will no doubt never receive it. Thanks for sharing the story.

  • @Nanakinsz

This is a beloved book in our family, too! Look at you, Miss Nik, turning your copy into an heirloom! Also: tragic tale. What you said about closure needs to be put on a billboard. Hugs! ❤

  • @phoebea

Great video! The book looks amazing. I was wondering when you'd do another Craft Time Mystery.

  • @tanyawhite3215

This was my first crafting mystery and I enjoyed it very much. Such a terribly tragic story 😢 I've just started bookbinding and have done 4 so far, all as gifts. Your videos have been incredibly helpful and I really enjoy watching them, so thank you very much for sharing your knowledge! You also have a lovely narrating voice 😊

  • @blackcoffeeandwildflowers

I love, love your mystery story telling! And combined with book binding is the best of both worlds! 🤩You made that repair/replacement look so easy. Fabulous! Hugs 🤗❤️

Hey Nik, although I'm in Australia, I've never heard of this case (although admittedly, I do avoid tv, newspapers etc., in order to stay sane). Another person was prosecuted in a 'catfishing' situation where the victim thought she was in a relationship with a teen boy of her own age & 'his father' would pick her up from the train station for their first meet. It actually served to deliver his victim to him, where committed murder, so he was charged with poor girl's murder, & not all the deception that caused it. However, I thought you'd like to know that since these deplorable things happened, all of our state & territory governments, together with the Federal Government, have been implementing coercive control laws into current family & violence legislation all around the country, so these low-life cretins do now have something tangible to answer to.

  • @CL-kn1rq

I think if we could have all their texts then we should not be shocked to see Brayden breaking up with Renée and practically pushing her into Camilla's arms.

  • @marikareimer4411

Hello Nik, this is my first Craft Time Mystery. Although the story is truly a sad one. I did enjoy listening and watching you rebind the book. It looks so great! Will be looking forward to more Craft Time Mystery in the future. 🤗

  • @jam4441

Perfect way to kick back and enjoy my favorite bookbinder and story teller in a moment when I really needed it. Thank you Nic.

  • @kathibarnard5223

It's a crime that Camilla could not be charged with something. She drives this young woman to commit suicide and then has such little feeling for her that she won't admit to the part she played. So terribly cold and cruel. Punishment of some kind needs to follow this evilness.

  • @artonthecreek

Wow. Thanks for sharing Renee’s story.

  • @amylandry4108

What a terrible crime 😢committed by an obsessed girl 😢 my heart breaks for Reneé and her family 😢

  • @JuanettesCraftingCorner

I have been missing your craft time mystery along with learning techniques from you. Thanks so much

  • @shirleymccullough2515

Very sad and tragic story ❗️really enjoyed your video of recovering this wonderful book, thanks for both … ⭐️💖⭐️

  • @lorikendrick5076

Re-backing a book looks so easy when you do it!
