    As Bane would fry and slowly burn to death I think he'd smile. He'd look at Sidious with a smile, seeing what his Rule of Two had created. He'd be beyond pleased and accept his end at the hands of what he would see as the perfect Sith.

    it only makes sense that sidious would eventually win. otherwise the entire point of banes rule of two would be a failure. If bane could defeat a Sith a thousand years after him, his rule of two would be pointless. The goal is for the Sith to be more powerful than the last generation. Well, the rule of two was supposed to you killing your master. You could challenge him directly, or make a betrayal or decieve him when he/she is unaware. Those are the weapons of the dark side. The rule of two was supposed to make the next sith better not in terms of raw power, but in overall cunning, manipulation, in strategy and eventually political power. To be better you don't have to be stronger.

    • @Gunthusiest
      @Gunthusiest 7 лет назад +16

      I think it's safe to say sidious had surpassed him by the time he killed him. The idea is surpassing your master. You don't necessarily have to fight to the death every single time. "At ANY point, the apprentice may rise and kill their master" it's safe to say sidious had declared the mantle of the true dark lord. If he hadn't, and if he had failed at killing plagieus in his sleep, plagieus would still be the true dark Lord. That's the way of the Sith, the way of the force. Bottom line, sidious knew he had surpassed his master by a long shot by this time and the it was the right time to kill his master, Because he no longer served any purpose to palpatine. My point is it's okay that palpatine killed plagieus in his sleep, because he knew that even in a fair fight to the death, plagieus wouldn't stand a chance anyway. If palpatine didn't know this, he wouldn't have killed him yet.

    • @Gunthusiest
      @Gunthusiest 7 лет назад +9

      He surpassed him. He killed him in his sleep because he knew he was more powerful. He had surpassed him long before he killed him. You don't have to fight to the death EVERY time. Betrayal is the way of the Sith. Fair fights aren't exactly what the rule of two is. Bottom line, surpass your master and kill them after you do it. Doesn't have to be in a fair and square game. Just kill them because there's no use of them now that you've surpassed them and they have no knowledge to give.

    • @Gunthusiest

    • @MortuusCruor
      @MortuusCruor 8 лет назад +63

      +Tyler Crane I don't know about that. You could say he didn't actually DEFEAT his master, Darth Plagueis, because he knew he was too weak to do so, so he killed him in his sleep. Also, he didn't fully train any of his apprentices, out of fear that they would get stronger than him and kill him. He just had an assassin that he didn't even each how to use the force, and then Darth Vader, who, although very gifted, was still weaker than Darth Sidious because his training stopped pretty early, and he had to completely change his fighting style due to the life support armour.

    • @MortuusCruor
      @MortuusCruor 8 лет назад +23

      ***** From what we know, Plagueis was incredibly powerful; far more powerful that Sidious.
      Some of his abilities include:
      1)He was a master of midi-clorian manipulation. Something sidious never mastered.
      2)A master of lightsaber combat (according to HIS master, darth tenebrous
      3)Conjuration of force illusions that were advanced enough to confuse Sidious. He used these in combat.
      4) Absorbing blaster bolts and transforming them into force lightning
      5) Conjuration of a force wave that was so powerful, it could atomize at least up to 6 attackers.
      6) his voice was as powerful as a sonic weapon
      7) He could bring people back to life
      8) He might have been capable of something called 'convection'; basically raising your body temperature to extreme heats, and even setting opponents on fire.
      Darth Sidious did not care so much about power as Darth Plagueis; he was more concerned with his political power, which is why he killed his master; he would have only gotten in the way.

      If there was a fight, Bane certainly win, according I have read : the three books about Bane and the book about Darth Plagueis
      Bane always train and fight, he can endure pain like anyone, and the guy built an holocron !!!
      He defeated Kas'im ( his sword professor ) with his abilities and the force, plus his intelligence. He deafeated three great Jedi Masters ( and please dont compare with saesee tiin and agen kolar, they seems so weak )
      So Sidious is powerfull yes, but he lost again windu, and he didn't beat yoda.
      The most important aspect is Sidious spend much of his time in manipulation and politics, so he wasn't trained to fight like Bane.
      If Sidious had the same life as Bane, maybe he will be more powerfull, but based on books ( and my deductions, I admit that ) Sidious is no match against Bane

    Interesting dynamic. Bane invented the rule of two but was born of an era where combat power was still the goal. The rule helped cultivate a new kind of Sith that prized power of manipulation and influence over brute power. Yet Sidious, despite being the end of the line, was part of a group of three final Sith who had all tried to abandon the rule of 2 in various ways. Plagueis and Sidious had even killed their masters rather cowardly rather than via proving they had exceeded their teachers, as Bane intended. They're inverses of the same problem in a way.

      I think Bane is physically superior and a stronger dualist and while he could keep up with his master who was the definitive greatest dualist of the era Sidious would have a slight edge in technique simply because Bane wouldn't have much experience against dual wielding since his master purposely neglected to teach him that. Bane also is also a very tactical dualist whereas Sidious is simply used to overpowering opponents without too much strategy. Tough one to call.

Sidious was too week to even defeat plaguous without getting him intoxicated . Bane waited patiently for a head on attack from a double blades Zannah. Even the Jedi of Sidious time didn’t engage with many other lightsaber duelists unless it was practice with other Jedi. Also in Banes Orbalisk armor he’s essentially invulnerable to LS damage. So long fight close up dueling Sidious gets the spanking of his life. At a distance Sidious crushes bane with force lightning which orbalisks are vulnerable too. Terrible matchup by poster. Darksido What about Darth Plagueis against Palpatine in an all-out Force/Lightsaber duel? Afterall, Darth Plagueis may have been killed by Palpatine in his sleep but during the time Palpatine was still his apprentice where Palpatine was 'spared no mercy' at times when Darth Plagueis trained and schooled him in the way of the Sith ...and afterall Darth Plagueis did train Palpatine to a high standard to achieving power eh? Not to mention where Darth Plagueis told Palpatine to '"Tell me what you regard as your greatest strength, so I will know how best to undermine you; tell me of your greatest fear, so I will know which I must force you to face; tell me what you cherish most, so I will know what to take from you; and tell me what you crave, so that I might deny you…" and as a means of 'Forcing' him to face his fears and darkest secrets - as well as at one time 'Forcing' Palpatine to nearly freeze to death without food for sleep on Mygeeto and when Palpatine thought he had the best of Darth Plagueis - Darth Plagueis deceived him with an illusion ...
      And considering at one point Darth Plagueis did lecture Palpatine about the essence and aspects of Sith Lightning - where Darth Plagueis remarked how Palpatine would 'one day have to be on the receiving end of it'... to truly apply its powers ...
      And not to mention Palpatine did seek immortality and the fact he had no intentions to die by any apprentice's hand - yet he didn't unlock the true secret of Midichlorian Manipulation - whilst Darth Plagueis was probably closer to that than almost any other being in the Galaxy of the SW verse so even if Palpatine in the end had the overall edge in Force powers - surely the Midichlorian Manipulation would favor Darth Plagueis - least of which if he needed to retreat or regenerate himself one way or another whilst Palpatine had to rely on the painful 'Essence Transfer' ...
      And given Darth Plagueis once trained Palpatine - surely who's to say he may still have the means to counter or deal with Palpatine or an old trick up his sleeve that he may not have taught Palpatine despite Palpatine's claim that ' he taught him everything he knew about the Force'... and the fact that Palpatine wasn't able to replicate Midichlorian Manipulation ... or where the fact how if we see how Count Dooku managed to best Obi Wan, but Master Yoda managed to hold off Count Dooku or Obi Wan still managing to hold off Anakin - when he was Sith-enraged ... so surely who's to say Darth Plagueis can't do the same eh? Or where Palpatine managed to defeat Darth Maul despite all his pain and training ...

AND THE FACT THAT EMPEROR VON DRAKE-PATINE MIGHT BE THE CARICATURE OF YOUR IMAGE HAHA! AND ON THE SIDELINES PERHAPS PAD-DUCKS LOUEY, DUEY AND HUEY ... PLUS PETE THE MUTT AND GRAND MOUSE MORTUFF-KIN... AND THE CLONEMATION ARMY 101 ...
      Now - as with Darth Maul eh? Well 'Master Palpatine' - as with your former Apprentice out of the list of Count Dooku, Anakin, Luke and well a would-be Galen Marek - here's the following uses:
      1.) A 'bench-mark' physical standard for future clones in case 'going Jango' was too far
      2.) A back-up template and Apprentice should Anakin have been killed off for good and the fact there's no point waiting another few decades now and then for a new Apprentice candidate
      3.) A Sith 'punching bag'
      4.) What Darth Plagueis the 'Scholar of the Midichlorians' did to Darth Veniamis - subject Darth Maul to a series of Force-enhanded experiments and augumentations
      5.) Send Darth Maul on various missions for the 'thrill of it' or just to 'troll him off-track' whilst you may have more meaningful Force-based business or another Clone Wars to run
      6.) Eliminates the risk of rivalry and reduces the risk Darth Maul poses if he was allowed to run independently and actually rule from Mandalore - so send him again on secret missions or such - given there's only so much time even Count Dooku or General Grievous can occupy in a system at a time ...
      7.) A Dark Side Acrolyte replacing Asajj Ventress (a spy or Sith bounty hunter perhaps) if the fact 'Back-up Apprentice' doesn't help out much...
      8.) Guard Korriban or anything of some value to Palpatine's business perhaps (like secret hideouts or sensitive information)
      9.) Send Darth Maul to become the commander or leader of a Sith Army or Separatist Army Supervisor or something incase General Grievous isn't enough ...
      10.) Send Darth Maul to 'coerce' or 'enforce' loyalty to Palpatine from a planet system unknown to the Core Systems of the Galaxy or find new 'allies' ...
      11.) Send Darth Maul to 'infiltrate' the Jedi Temple and 'pretend' to convert to the Lightside of the Force - kinda like point 7 but perhaps this time also have Darth Maul steal or kidnap younglings or holocrons or sabotage ...
      12.) The previous 11 points ... or just simply send Darth Maul to sabotage the Clone War effort on both sides ...
      Just 12 'credit points' worth of some 'uses' you may have for Darth Maul ...

    Well, Sidious hasn't defeated 3 Jedi in battle. 2 of them were killed before the battle started (The novel is more realistic and shows how it was intended to be. Lucas changed it because it was too brutal in his opinion). Reinforced by battle meditation Fisto and Windu would have crushed Sidious. So I wouldn't say that Sidious is the better duelist. He could increse his chances with 2 sabers.
    Is Palpatine's force lightning really stronger than Bane's? I can't remember that he has killed somebody instantly with his lightning. Windu was 1m away when he got hit and wasn't killed. Luke survived. Yoda hasn't been overpowered. For me it was a draw but Yoda lost due to his fall. Even Sidious was thrown back and he really seemed to be frightened. Palpatine was even too faint-hearted to defeat his master in a battle. However. Bane doesn't need his own lightning or force shields to protect himself against lightning. He can use his lightsaber. Yes Windu had problems deflecting it. But he was very close to Palpatine and he hasn't only deflected it. He directed it back on Palpatine. Palpatine can't defend himself completely against powerful force pushes as the battle with Yoda shows. So I think Bane really could hurt Sidious in a force battle.
    I don't know who of them is stronger. But my opinion is that Sidious isn't that powerful as a force user or duelist (of course, he is maybe one of the strongest in history). His true power comes from his mind. His intelligence separates him from other powerful Sith. This battle would be much closer than said in the verdict.

    Darth Sidious vs Darth Bane isn't a fight. If Bane could beat Sidious his entire Rule of Two was a failure. Sidious is stated many times to be the most powerful Sith Lord ever. Darth Bane's entire goal was to make the perfect Sith, which, after 1000 years, was Darth Sidious. The last in a line of progressively better Sith is sure to beat the very first in the same line. They left out that banes obelisk armors only weakness is to lightning. Sidious’ lighting control alone is enough to bring bane to his knees. In the books, Bane almost died from his own lightning blast when fighting the 3 battle meditated Jedi masters. One of the masters put a force shield around bane when he used it sacrificing herself in vein.

That implies that Niman existed before Juyo and as Jensaarai1 said about the creators of Juyo, they had one philosophy, Niman sucks, so they went in the opposite direction. Where as Niman sought moderation and was easier to master than other forms Juyo was pure aggression. Juyo seems more like Palpatine's style but Plagueis supposedly studied Niman so he is probably familar with it.

  • @Astraeus..
    @Astraeus.. 9 лет назад +52

    I think it's worth mentioning that the Sith were subject to a somewhat unique problem with respect to the passing on of abilities and skills. The vast majority of Sith Lords were, by the nature of their order, distrustful and selfish with regard to their apprentices. They took an apprentice to ensure the Sith continued, but were highly selective with what they taught, otherwise they risked being quickly surpassed and subsequently killed by their apprentice.
    These apprentices could often grow impatient and strike out at their masters before fully learning all the master had to teach them. This would result in abilities or skills that the master knew potentially being lost, in some cases forever. An example of this came with Sidious recounting the tale of "Darth Plagueis the Wise" and his abilities with manipulation of midi-chlorians. Although Sidious believed he had learned all his master knew, he was never able to accurately reproduce the technique of his former master, suggesting Plagueis had not actually revealed all his secrets prior to being murdered.
    This issue may not seem relevant in respect to a single master and apprentice, however when compounded across thousands of years it led to the potential for a wide array of Sith techniques and powers being lost and forgotten. This is illustrated by Darth Kreia speaking to the Jedi Exile (Meetra Surik) with regard to an ancient Sith named Tulak Hord, "If you were to face an ancient Sith Lord in combat, you would learn that we are as children playing with toys compared to the prowess of the old masters."

    • @Astraeus..
      @Astraeus.. 9 лет назад +21

      Sean C As a further extension of this point, it can also be inferred that the Jedi capacity for combating their Sith counterparts would diminish over time as well. Against the massively powerful ancient Sith, the Jedi of the era would have needed to develop powers and abilities to keep on par and able to combat their opponents. As the overall power of the Sith was reduced through the generations, the passive nature of the Jedi would cause their power to be diminished as well. If they were to retain the full measure of power and abilities used by previous generations, they would end up outright slaughtering not only Sith but any enemies they came across, which simply wasn't the Jedi way. They could rally in times of war, but prolonged periods of peace would see the Jedi capacity for combat reduced significantly.As a final example, the battle on Geonosis was all but an outright slaughter, as the Jedi had virtually no concept of how to properly conduct a ground war of that scale. By comparison, the Army of Light under the leadership of Lord Hoth during the time of Bane's establishing the Rule of Two would have outright slaughtered the armies of the CIS if transplanted into that situation. They lived in a time of war against the Brotherhood of Sith, and routinely faced not only their standard armies but also dozens upon dozens of fully trained Sith.

      I’m pretty sure that in the Darth Plagueis novel he specifically says he intended to teach sidious everything. His problem was focusing on midiclorians too much. Sidious focused more on power because when he spent almost all of his free time learning from the ancient sith. Plus the new Vader Comics show that Darth Sidious manipulated them and that’s why the force created Anakin. I always felt since the story was meant to seduce Anakin Palpatine might have changed it to make it sound more appealing.

    Having read both books I would give the duel to Bane. Bane had been fighting and training his whole life for combat, where as Sidious spent a huge amount of time in political maneuvering. I also think its worth noting that the Jedi in Banes time where most likely better fighters than the ones Sidious faced because in Banes time the Jedi were actively combating a Sith enemy and the Jedi in Sidious time had no engagements with enemy Force users. I think where Sidious out shines Bane is his ability to bend people to his political will, which of course Bane would have been awful at.

      Wrong interpretation of the Banite rule i am afraid. What it means is that when the master is weaker than his apprentice or when the apprentice surpasses his master, the apprentice will take the masters place, it doesn't mean that every new sith lord is more powerful then the previous one XD it's a funny idea though. The point is that the holder of the title of dark lord will never be too weak to defend himself or have at least a sub-close to-prime student so the order can survive while still being concealed in the dark. If Bane would've won it wouldn't have made any difference to the success of his legacy as sidious feats speaks for it as his successor, doesn't need Sidious beating his ancestor in this THEORETICAL fight in order to prove the point of the Banite's rule.

    As an aside, if Palpatine hit Bane with Force Lightning it would be over instantly. When Bane dueled the Jedi on Typhon the Ithorian Master used his last bit of life to make Bane electrocute himself with Force Lightning. This killed a few of the orbelisks and released a deadly toxin into his bloodstream. The Emperor’s Lightning was many times more powerful than Bane’s and I believe at full blast Palpatine would kill many if not all the orbelisks and he would melted from the inside out extremely quickly.

    I hope you have read Bane's books and realize that Banes Orbalisk armor is completely impenetrable by any. ANY. Weapon. The only reason that Bane had to shed his coat was that during his battle against the Jedi Masters someone put a bubble around him when he was about to unleash his force lightning attack and it killed the orbalisks which started poisoning him.
    Also in the book his armor could withstand lightsaber attacks. It even says in book 2 that he went on a 100% offensive with his armor, not even trying to defend. I believe that his pure, rage driven offensive would be more than a match for Sideous. When Bane's teacher, Kaasim detached his 2 handed lightsaber to make 2, 1 handed blades Bane was not nearly the Sith Lord he was when he donned his armor. There was at least 7 years difference.
    Make sure you have your facts right. Bane could take Sideous in a heart beat

      even so if we believe what kraya said in reference to the jedi of the revan and the exiles time not having a chance against the ancients in saber combat, then we can assume lightsaber combat continued to degrade especially with the near destruction of both the sith and jedi several times. that would be applied to this fight as there was around a thousand years difference between these two. there are other points i'd make but id prefer to make them or to not after more research. p.s. id also like to point out that banes will power alone was tremendous allowing him to assumedly complete a partial or even full essence transfer to zahanna before his death. (After his defeat in rule of two zahanna's hand is noted to shake in the same way as bane's did previously)

    I feel there's a flaw in everyone's argument in the comments stating that Bane fought more battle hardened Jedi than Sidious. While, yes, Bane would've fought Jedi with more battle training, there is a difference with training many compared with training a few or just one. Training many tends to be watered down compared to personal one on one training. I feel Sidious fought more refined Jedi than Bane & would still give Sidious the win.

      aspiknf Even if it wasn't stated that Sidious was the strongest, by logic Vader can't be the strongest. If he was why would he obey the Emperor? He could've overthrown him at any time like he wanted to. Instead he has to be the Emperor's bitch because Sidious is too poweful. And Vader is only able to defeat him by taking him by surprise during the special circumstances in ROTJ. Just the way everything goes in the story, Sidious has to be the most powerful. If he's not the story starts to fall apart.

There was no need to tell me that I've known it for a long time. I mean how could you not know it? Sidious states "Vader will become more powerful then either of us" at the start of the Mustafar/Senate duel scenes. Then Obi-Wan fucks Anakin up and he never surpasses Sidious. It pretty much had to be that way for the fact that Vader could not overthrow Sidious without Luke's help.

    I think Bane would have won. Yes, I'm dead serious. Yes, I know it's basically blasphemy to hold that opinion. However, while your analysis was excellent overall, there was one aspect that wasn't explored: strength of *character.*
    Darth Sidious's greatest weakness--the weakness that led to his demise--was arrogance. The greatest weakness of the dark side is said arrogance, so how fitting indeed that the dark side incarnate would have this weakness unparalleled. Even if Sidious edges out over Bane in raw power, the difference is so small that even the slightest error on either side could tip the balance fatally.
    Bane, on the other hand, is a stone-cold, competent, relentless killing machine. His pragmatism is only matched by his brutality in combat. He would take Sidious 100% seriously from the first millisecond of their duel, whereas if Sidious's arrogance and overconfidence gets the better of him for even less than that time, Bane will cut him down before Sidious can so much as spit a taunt his way. Arrogance can bring down the best of them, and against a foe as mighty, as cunning, and as vicious as Darth Bane, I firmly believe this weakness will be crippling.
    Your thoughts?

    Sidious is the product of a 1000+ years old philosophy. Bane defeating Sidious would be as catastrophic as Bane dying to the first dude (forgot the name) he fights during his sith training, the dude before the Zabrak (whom I also forgot the name).
    Sidious is Bane’s ultimate victory. Honestly, Bane was probably giggling like a 5 year old at Christmas during Revenge of the Sith.

    Bane did not expire by the hands of his apprentice. He incompletely mastered a technique of transferring his "soul" or life force into another body. In the final fight, Darth Zana walks away from Bane's corpse, and doing so, her hand twitches the same way Darth Bane's hand twitched from time to time. And that's how the story ends. Interesting, don't you think? ;)

    Interesting.
    Darth Sidious is touted as the culmination of Bane's "Rule of Two" however that's not entirely true.
    Further back in time from Darth Sidious a Sith called Darth Gravid went mad and destroyed much Sith knowledge before being killed by his apprentice. This, according to Darth Plagueis, set the the Rule of Two Sith order back a long way in terms of plans and also loss of knowledge of much Sith Knowledge.
    Secondly Darth Sidious, Darth Plagueis, and Darth Tenebris all broke the spirit if not the letter of the Rule of Two which would have further weakened the Sith line.

Count Dooku was able to cast waves of darkness and an energy trap that drained people of the force and turned it against them. Sidious also mastered the ability of transferring ones consciousness something Bane never did

  • @Reidumz

    To be fair this would be a lose lose situation for Bane. Bane embraced the idea of the rule of two. The entire basis for the rule of two is that it ensures that each new generation of the Sith becomes stronger than the last. There are obviously going to be exceptions along the line, but if one of the latest generations of Sith Lords were to be defeated by the one who reforged this concept so long ago, then the rule of two itself would be a failure, as it would have failed to advance the Sith order. As awesome as important as Bane was (one of the most awesome and important imo) Sidious has to win here, as the very evolution of the Sith order ensures that it becomes stronger and stronger over time, as ensured by the rule of two. However, what we can say is that without Bane, Sidious may have never even had the opportunity to become as strong as he did. Sidious is the embodiment of what Bane wanted so badly to create. Bane knew this would happen when he re-enforced the rule of two. Sidious is the poster child of Bane's success, and the reason the Sith needed the rule of two.

    In the dueling abilities, one thing never mentioned by you, was Banes speed. Partly due to the extreme lightness of his saber and his skill he was extremely quick. It was said once he worked out his forms, as a storm started and kept it up till it ended, not one drop touched him. That is extremely fast blade work, to intercept every rain drop. Possibly due to his mastery of Seresu, though he would eventually fall though. I agree as the incarnate of the dark side for all Sith, Sidious would have eventually wore him down

    Hey Ant,
    enjoy the vs videos, i was curious though.... when talking about Bane vs the 3 Jedi, you seem to negate the fact that those Jedi were all being battle enhanced through battle meditation. Bane had the Orbalisk armor, so he could rage more and be a little more unpredictable. One of them was weapons master who was using two light-sabers, one Jedi Grandmaster, and 1 Jedi knight. We know this from the book "Rule of Two" when Bane and Zannah are fighting on Tython. I can respect what you are saying about this fight, but was curious if you took into consideration that the Weapons-master along with the Jedi being battle meditatively enhanced and still were defeated by Bane.

    Banes armor only caused pain IF Bane didn't feed dark side energy into them. If he didn't he would cause them to grow hungry and begin to eat his flesh, when he did feed them like he ALWAYS did they were basically harmless to him if you ignore the fact that he had to wear special gloves and face mask to keep them from being covered

    • @mercenary1341
      @mercenary1341 9 лет назад

      Also, you're forgetting that he knew how to transfer his own "spirit" into another persons body, kinda like how Sidious master had lived for so long. I mean all else fails he could always use a way smaller version of the thought bomb which he stated in book 2 rule of two that he could cast himself but on a much smaller scale. Light saber wise i'd agree with you on this but the reason why Bane choose all out brute force was because of his armor it allowed him to and it gave him a MASSIVE boost in physical strength and nearly unlimited stamina. Bane was known to be able to shred not just simple break a users force shield, and he was extremely cunning so much so that it rival Sidious if not more or less. I mean sooo many Sith type books gave reference to Bane in some way. and it's annoying how so many people think that he was breaking his own rule of two in the third book. He was gonna find a new apprentice because he felt that his current one wasn't gonna challenge him and was gonna wait till his died of old age to receive the mantle.

    For everyone in the comments that voted Bane as victor you are wrong. In the rule of two it clearly states that each apprentice grows stronger and stronger ( Bane lost to Zannah, Zannah lost to Cognus etc...) after 1000 years the Sith involved in the rule of two are SO MUCH stronger than the original Sith in the rule of two (Bane, Zannah, Cognus) since each apprentice grows stronger and over takes the master don't you think that the more down the line you go the stronger the Sith are.... This is obvious proof that Sidious is and should be stronger than Bane or else the whole point of the Rule Of Two is pointless.

    A lightsaber couldn't even penetrate Banes orbalisk armor. They also granted him great regenerative powers, improved his force abillitys even more and also did absorb dark force abilitys and electricity like force lightning. So even though electricity was indeed something that could actually hurt him in his armor, it was still granting him unnatural high resistence against it.
    The only way the orbalisk armor was eventually played around was by suprising Bane, trapping him in a reflection field that did reflecting his own force lightning back on himself. Therefor creating a feedback loop in which the orbalisks would keep absorbing and boosting Banes lightnings more and more at the same time. And therefor eventualy make the orbalisks burst. Correct me if i´m wrong, but i think this reflection field force ability is a light side force ability. So i doubt darth sidious would use this.
    Also: Obviously Darth Sidious is discribed as an "avatar of darkness" by all of his pupils. I´m most certain most, if not all dark-side masters been that for their respective pupils... so it doesn't realy say anything special. I honestly think Banes force lightening been at least the same level then sidious'. In "Path Of Destruction" , when Bane learned the force lightening just a while ago it is already said his force lightening was filling a whole room. This was quiet a bit before his prime. We've never seen anything like this from Sidious, did we? The only time we saw him kill someone with it was when someone else chopped their arm off before.
    Tbh, i don't realy see a realistic way of how Darth Sidious could win this fight.

    I disagree with this outcome. You have to remember before Revenge of the Sith. The jedi order had not had any real enemies. While during bane times. Jedi and Sith fought more often. Meaning the levels of each other would be higher. Both in force ability and in dueling.
    With out a true oponente. One would get weak. They can practice all the like but no real profection can be met with out a strong foe. This is why Sidious was able to kill 3 enemies so easy. They where weak and not expecting a real fight.
    They just stood there and let him cut them down. Bane would have been seen many battles while Sidious did not see any true battles. We can say he did have a great deal of skill of what was there for the time. Sadly his time was doing the special olympics. Everyone had became so weak because there was nothing dangerous out there.
    Plus Sidious never killed a true Darth. He had to kill Darth Plagueis after drugging him. That does not sound like he was extremely skilled if he had to drug his master to kill him.

      But even beyond that, there's pockets of dark side power in the galaxy, such as the section of heavy wooded area on Dagobah. "Strong with the Dark side, that place is." If the latent darkside energy didn't mask the flaring power, any Jedi that did feel it might just brush it off as a natural occurrence for that area.

    • @thepdg5160
      @thepdg5160 9 лет назад +24

      ***** Sidious could never beat Plagueis in a real fight. Let's not think about Sidious is the strongest Sith, as George Lucas said. If he tried to attack Plagueis with his Lightsaber, Plagueis would have ripped him apart with his infamous force push. If he tried to shock him, he would absorb it and manipulate his Midi-Cholorians, so that Sidious would go insane, or kills himself. End of Story.
      Sidious is not as strong with the force as everyone says. He hasn't got enough power to manipulate Midi-Cholorians, so that he had to clone himself. And I never read, that he had perform a force push like Darth Plagueis, or burn things with shock lightning. Sure, Sidious can kill people instantly with it, but when his shock lightning gets absorbed or reflected, he hasn't got anything left in performing shock lightning. Yoda could resist it, and it gets completely ignored by Darth Vader in Episode six, who could easily throw Darth Sidious down into the Death Star. But Vader was a Machine, which is very vulnerable to shock lightning. However, if Darth Plagueis performs shock lightning, and anyone tries to absorb it, it will burn his hands. So, in my opinion, Darth Plagueis is superior to Sidious in terms of the force. Also i think with his speed and range, Darth Plagueis outclasses Sidious in fights with the Lightsaber.

The trade off was he was basically invincible to everything else. So...with the armor he lasts until Palpy tags him with it. Without it's probably a slightly more interesting fight with Bane's insane defensive lightsaber skills but Sidious probably still gets him in the end.

    Sideious was a failure as a Sith Lord who was trained by a failure. His powers, though extreme for his day, were not as high above Banes as one might assume. The reasoning is that Sidious broke from the rule of two. Bane emphasized that when the apprentice challenges the master he does it directly. The two fight with all they have and the apprentice only becomes the master by overcomming everything the master has. Sideious didn't do this. He killed his master in his sleep. Plagius also didn't do this, he basically shoved his master under an avalanche after his master told him it would happen (he didn't know).
    These sith did not prove that the were more powerful than their masters. Sidious showed in the clone wars that he would challenge a rival directly but Sidious would get schooled. His force storm was his only chance but he couldn't do it in direct combat.

      Interestingly enough, at the times of Tenebrous, Plagueis, and Sidious, all three had arrived to skills and powers beyond that of what the old members of the rule of two had. To establish this, the novel Darth Plagueis states that the Sith were so powerful it wasn't a question of who was stronger, but rather who the Dark Side chose as its... vessel. In this, the masters are killed when the Dark Side anoints the apprentice as the Dark Lord of the Sith. It is viewed as the masters would have killed the apprentices if they were strong enough to be favored by the Dark Side, but unfortunately for them, they are not.
      Furthermore, Plagueis was.... conscious to a degree when Sidious killed him. Plagueis was utilizing his midichlorian manipulation techniques to defy Sidious the opportunity to kill him. Simply put, Plagueis was attempting to will himself impervious to death. Sidious used similar forms of midichlorian manipulation and force choke, and force lightening to bring Plagueis to death. So it wasn't exactly a sneak attack and kill scenario. Sidious's abilities had out grown his masters in which he reveals that he had constantly been clouding Plagueis's mind to many things, that he had also been manipulating Plagueis for a long time, and that he didn't regard him as a master.
      Sidious also was able to do something none of the Sith Lords of the past were able to do, in which he was successful in bringing the Dark Side under his control, rather than the other way around. He accomplished what Plagueis had tried to.
      The Rule of Two ended when the concept of being 'stronger' was inadequate and out dated, and the vaunted Rule of One (atleast Sidious's version) was established in that he was the most powerful that a Sith could become (perhaps arrogance, but also well backed up in ability). He viewed himself as the apex of power, and that while he controlled the dark side, he was able to accomplish what ever he desired (for the most part).

      Joshua you don't need to know But that to implies a break from the sith philosophy. That would imply that the sith allow the darkside to chose. That they are guided by it as the Jedi are by the light. Sith philosophy has always been that they don't really care what the dark side wants. They don't serve it, they master it and make it do what they want.
      Frankly I think the sith in Plagius were just full of themselves. They'd lived too long unchallenged and thinking they were superior. The emperor (at least as shown in the movies if the latter stuff is no longer canon) was a joke. He should never have lived to reach that stage of decay. Who need a sith lord who could die slipping in the shower?

    • @joshuayoudontneedtoknow9559
      @joshuayoudontneedtoknow9559 10 лет назад

      Shawn McRoberts Not at all, Sith philosophy is predominated with toppling the force. Darth Bane did not accomplish this, though he tried. The Sith of his line came to realize that brute strength wasn't the way to accomplish this, but guile, cunning, and a sinister intelligence. This reflected their ways of killing their masters, they didn't have to become stronger in a show, but merely more clever about how they used their powers. And as with Plagueis to Tenebrous, Sidious outclassed Plagueis in the end with both power and cunning. The point is that in order to get the dark side to do what one wished, it had to be enticed, and drawn in, and only then could it be bent to the will. The only real thing that changed was how they went about it.
      I'd hardly say that they were full of themselves. If any body were guilty of that, it was the Jedi. These Sith were fully aware of what they were, and were cautious and calculating, taught to never let their guard down, etc. I would say they were simply stronger and more awake than each of their predecessors. And if nothing other than the movies is cannon, everyone would be a joke, except the Emperor, Yoda, Obi Wan, and Windu. This is because we see how skilled the emperor is in his fights in the movies. As far as the stage of decay he arrived to... I quote Plagueis: "The power of the Dark Side is an illness no true Sith would wish to be cured of."
      p.s. that was a hilarious image of the emperor, but could easily be attributed to Yoda, Obi wan, and pretty much any old force user. Perhaps the soap would be too afraid to have them slip on it?

    • @OMEGATHENIETZCHIAN
      @OMEGATHENIETZCHIAN 10 лет назад

      Plagius didn't defeat Tenebrous by cunning or guile either. In the entire event he was confused he only realized what was going on by interpreting his master's actions. There was no planning, no foresight just oppurtunism. Even worse is Tenebrous technically survived (as a cellular infection) that Plaguis was completely unaware of.
      I'm not saying it needed to be a gladiatorial contest but the apprentice needed to prove unequivocably that he was superior. Plagiuse didn't do that. Sidious Defeated his master by preventing him from drawing on the force to prolong his life but couldn't master the powers his master displayed. If Sidious came to embody the darkside it was only long after his master's death.
      Sidious was not cunning. He was prideful. He openly stated his plans to Luke and later to Leia when he tried to possess her baby. He lacked the insight to realize a threat when faced with one and, unlike Bane, showed no understanding of the changing currents of the Force. Luke Skywalker represented a shift to the ascendency of the light. Bane lived in such a time which is why he went into the Shadows. Sidious tried to prevent the balance from shifting and proved unable to do so.

    I do agree with your verdict, however I do think you (and to be honest, most fans) are overestimating sidious. It is true that he defeated darth maul and savage at the same time, however, that is something kenobi was capable of after some effort. his defeat of tiin and kolar had allot more to do with surprise/force power/them being idiots then actual blade work. and although he held his own against both windu and yoda, its clear he is having a hard time of it in both duels. it is beyond doubt he is a MASTER of the dark side, but in my opinion, he is not the greatest duelist of his time.

    • @AntoineBandele
      @AntoineBandele  10 лет назад

      Yeah but Bane was SO careless with his orbalisk armor. But yeah I almost gave Bane the dueling edge, I was even considering making it a tie but the main thing was Sidious' Jar'Kai advantage. The difference between Sidious and Kenobi however is that Sidious made Maul and Savage look like practice. It took Kenobi great effort to fight against them both.

    • @brothersmakingmovies
      @brothersmakingmovies 10 лет назад

      I, by no means, think Sidious is a second rate duelist, and I do agree that he probably would defeat Bane. however, the idea that he could kill any Jedi without them even having a chance to react, I find absurd. It did take Kenobi great effort, but he still managed it.

    Bane would be a much better duelist than Sidious. He killed the best duelist in the galaxy, the Sith Blademaster, or the deadliest Sith warrior alive. Along with his natural killing ability, his stronger than Sidious' lightning (he taught himself, and used it against his teacher. He was never taught.) He also knew more than Sidious, as the Holocrons were lost to Sidious, but Bane found most if not all the Holocrons that were not held by the Jedi, and he killed many of the guardians of those and took those as well. All in all, Bane would crush Sidious.

    Antoine, I like your breakdown of the match. I watched Wolf's verses of Yoda and Darth Bane and thought it lacked some important points. One point that you touched on but didn't explore is the fact that for the two to meet, Sidious has had the benefit of 1000 years of Sith advancement. As you said, Bane is the beginning of the story and Sidious is the end. Many verses authors mention the various forms of combat in their series and who utilizes or excels at what. But, which forms have actually been in existence the whole time?
    One author spoke of Mace Windu having created a new form of Jedi combat that utilizes the dark side energy of his opponent. This form was only available to him.
    So if Bane had access to all the knowledge that Sidious had, would the fight have been the same?
    Bane was the first to rediscover the Sith ability of Body Switching even though it didn't succeed completely in the end. He also completely embodied the Rule of Two. Yes he trained an apprentice to crave the power and attempt to defeat him, but he expected and accepted the concept wholeheartedly. His desire was to increase the power of the Sith, not himself.
    BTW, I don't agree with the comment that Sidious is the end of the Rule of Two in its purest form. Sidious had many apprentices. Dukoo, Vader, Maul; all are called his apprentice. He also played one apprentice off of the other multiple times. Sidious would never give up the power he had attained if there was a way to do so. His force strength lies in his complete "Me Attitude" where all events must benefit him. His avarice is the reason why he is so powerful. No one embodied the love of self more than him.
    If you read the Bane series, I believe that Sidious came not descended from Darth Zanath but from the other Sith afficionado who was only really interested in artifacts who escaped at the end of the book ( I can't remember his name.) He didn't believe in the rule of two but in greed and power only.

    • @AntoineBandele
      @AntoineBandele  9 лет назад

      The Rule of Two definitely devolved during Sidious' time but I feel that Sidious was the END of Rule of Two just for what you said ... he was all about him.

The environment he fought in both of those occasions were small spaces which limited his fighting ability. You also forget Banes speed. In sparring sessions even other force users had trouble visually keeping up with banes speed. You also forget Banes training session in a rain storm in which he used his lightsaber to bat away the rain drops keeping them from touching his body. I think his speed and power wouldn’t have given Sidious the opportunity to catch his breathe.

      @AntoineBandele  10 лет назад +2

      That quote of George Lucas was so ambiguous in the Revenge of the Sith DVD. He said that Mace was overpowering Sidious but not that he decisively overpowered him.
      Nevertheless, I do think Mace Windu did beat Sidious. However I only think he beat him as a duelist, not in the Force. Let's look at the description in the novel when Sidious was hitting him with lightning:
      {Now Anakin was at Mace's shoulder. Palpatine still made no move to defend himself from Skywalker; instead he ramped up the lightning bursting from his hands, bending the fountain of Mace's blade back toward the Korun Master's face.
      Palpatine's eyes glowed with power, casting a yellow glare that burned back the rain from around them. "He is a traitor, Anakin. Destroy him."
      "You're the chosen one, Anakin," Mace said, his voice going thin with strain. This was beyond Vaapad; he had no strength left to fight against his own blade. "Take him. It's your destiny."
      Skywalker echoed him faintly. "Destiny..."
      ...
      Mace's blade bent so close to his face that he was choking on ozone. "Anakin, he's too strong for me-"}
      - Excerpt from the Revenge of the Sith Novelization

      Yes I remember reading it, but right after that, Palp said he could not hold on any longer, and Mace pushed back, then Palp started begging for Skywalkers help. It was close, there no question. Mace was being slowly overpowered, but Palp burned himself out, even if only temporarily, trying to get Windu off him. But that being said, its only my opinion, there was real fear is Palps eyes just before Skywalker saved him.
