    To those who think Bane successfully dominated Zannah with essence transfer:
    "You might think this is strange - an author “spoiling” his own work. But the truth is, I never intended this to cause so much confusion out there. I knew that no matter who won, Bane or Zannah, I would have people angry at me. But I didn’t want to take the easy way out and dodge the question. I wanted to provide a definitive answer… and I thought I did. Yet some readers are still confused, and I feel I owe it to them to provide that closure (even though I know some of them will be angry at me for killing off their personal favorite).
    So, who won the final confrontation between Bane and Zannah?
    I’ll be honest; I thought it was pretty clear in my writing. I wrote the scene from Cognus’s point of view to keep you guessing to the last instant, but when Zannah proclaims “Darth Bane is gone. I am Darth Zannah, Dark Lord of the Sith and your new Master,” I thought it would be pretty clear.
    The whole thing with Zannah’s hand twitching was only to show that some part of Bane had passed through to her. How much - was he still “alive” in some way, or is it just a small part of his identity imprinted on her - was supposed to be the ambiguous part. But I never wanted people to assume Bane had taken over Zannah’s body successfully."

      Well tons of other sith killed their master in that fashion. Pleguies killed Tenabrous by calapseing a cave onto him. Sidious killed Pleguies in his sleep. And Bane destroyed most the brotherhood of darkness with trickery and a thought bomb.
      Malak was smart to take the opportunity, Revan let his guard down and payed for it.

      I agree with you that Revan wankers can be a migraine (I am a migraine sufferer so that is saying something) but from my personal experience, Maul wankers are the worst wankers in the Star Wars community (way worse than Revan's) and Windu wankers can be just as bad.

      I never played TOR mmo, thoughI saw several videos from it, but I will without any hesitation admit, that Revan is my favorite character in star wars. I played both Kotors and it was there when I find this character really interesting and unique, because in his way he is. I know no other sith or jedi in star wars universe, with such complex and rich history, from both dark and light side, with all his accomplishments and failures. Perhaps this is the main reason, why he is so popular among so many people. And haters like you can do nothing with it. So deal with it. Revan certainly is not invincible, but from what I knowabout him, from games and other sources, he surely is among the strongest characters of all star wars history, making him one of top tier. This is simply because of his skills and abilities. Not because wankers as you said. I certainly can live with the fact, that you dislike this character, as you have your own right for it, but insulting others who like him, only show your self in the same light, like those wankers, about which you complaining. Because many star wars characters have his, as you said "wankers", those who can be really easy with insults to other people.

    Much of what made Bane what he was was knowledge from Revan's own holocron. Revan also has more experience. While Bane saw battle with Jedi on a couple planets, Revan was battling Jedi, Sith and Mandalorians alike all over the galaxy for years. He's seen everything. He's learned from everything. And even if an opponent was evenly matched in the beginning, Revan would slowly but surely steer the fight in his direction until his victory became insurmountable.

    Revan and Malak had *far* more experience fighting as a team, playing off each other. Bane and Zannah had only one real fight where they were fighting side-by-side, and even then there wasn't much coordination. Revan and Malak spent years together fighting the Mandolorians and the Emperor on Drommund Kass. They must have made quite a team.

      Revan and Satele have no synergy. They lose. I think it's important to not underestimate zannahs force capabilities. As a character she doesn't get fleshed out very well yet she has a stronger will then her master who has undergone things that would break many. Malak is I would argue the lesser combatant. However his unique skill set as outlined by Antoine plays a unique counter to hers.

Let us not forget Revan's sustainability, cutting his way through the Star Forge, then Bastila, then the Extermination droids, THEN Malak with the home field advantage.

      Nope, also depends on what vader we are talking about, the young vader who was truly a blade master had his flaws deadly flaws. But those flaws are actually Obis strenghts like in the battle of mustafar, Obi exploited vaders arrogance, poor planning and lack of using the enviroment the only thing vader was was strong, ramming into his opponents and ending the fight quick. So would be cool to see them fight as a pair against some of the moste experienced sith ever.

    • @chipdale2571

      Vader is not stronger than Revan, just compare all their skills and feats. Revan is stronger and lot more versatile in the force. Also Malak is very strong in the force and in dueling. Obi has tremendous defence, but thats about it (meaning in terms of fighting). His strenght in force si negligible compared to Revan and Malak. Vader maybe able compete in telekinesis (although I still think he his somewhat weaker than Revan), but he has huge disadvantage in vulnerability to forcelightning. They would lose to Revan with Malak.

      Valkorian/Hero of Tython/etc are pretty much OP at this point to be honest. Campaign Vitiate is basically a hologram, he even said it. Most of his strength was towards the Eternal Empire. Trust me, DLC Vitiate/Valkorian is pretty much Sidious level and HoT is basically Mace Windu at this point in the story. I'd love to see them used in match ups. But you know, versus guys don't like them...

    • @lovefrompraha
      @lovefrompraha 7 лет назад

      Probably even greater than Sidious honestly. As far as canon goes anyway. He can do some pretty intense shit on a whim. And has been around for around 1,500 years. Even Plagueis says that he only finally died in his own time. Even Revan who is better than Bane was utterly whipped by Vitiate. And I wonder if Vitiate was even physically present at that time either. He said he only created the Empire to sick it on the Republic, weaken them both, and crush them with the Eternal Empire. Frankly, Valkorian being stabbed in the back by Arcann was pretty much the same thing as Sidious being grabbed by Vad

    • @Butterwinke
      @Butterwinke 7 лет назад

      The problem with it isn't so much not liking Vitiate or HoT, Vitiate is
      completely far game to use, seen lots use him, but it's more that the
      HoT is kind of unusable. There is nothing truly canonical about them
      other than certain key points in their story. There is nothing concrete
      on who or what they were, how they fought, how they used the force, ect.
      Revan and Jaden Korr kinda used to be that category until we got some
      extra-game source material for them but as far as I know, the HoT
      remains completely undefined.

    The battle of the reborn Sith, Darth Revan and Malak of the old, Darth Bane and Zannah of the new. If these two generations of Sith ever met in open conflict, which team would come out on top?
    Watch more Star Wars VS here!
    ruclips.net/p/PLDFq63aBi3_x_hhCNeHiT0xbfWUGpXl0J
    CLARIFICATION ON VERDICT: No this is not a stomp or even near a stomp. Each of these ten matches would be extremely close. A stomp is something like Sidious vs Savage Opress. An 8/10 verdict still can infer several close matches. The mark up of these numbers are simply an illustration of advantages, not overall skill or power.
    Any rating ... whether 9/10, 8/10, 7/10 doesn't mean much without context. Just like simply saying "so-and-so beat so-and-so" without context doesn't give anything to work off of. Or looking at a Rotten Tomatoes score for movie reviews at face-value but not taking specific reviews and reasoning into consideration.
    There is a context that led to 8/10 and it was not because the fight was not equal or that it was a near stomp. Heck even a 10/10 does not constitute a stomp, simply that one party has more advantages than the other. That's all the point system relates to, advantages, not power scaling. My matches are more than just looking at the final result, just like most matches in Star Wars are never about the final result but the steps getting there.
    UPDATE: To those who think Bane successfully dominated Zannah with essence transfer:

    Wow.... that verdict honestly took me by surprise. I thought for sure Malak would be the weakest link, falling to Zannah quickly. However, I see the logic in your analysis and it has definitely raised my opinion of Malak substantially. A phenomenal video.... seriously, you just keep improving and getting better and better. I know I say this on most of your videos, but it's warranted here.
    I honestly didn't think you could get any better in terms of presentation and production values, but alas, I was wrong. You keep innovating and pushing the boundaries on what is possible in VS videos and that's something I need to improve upon myself.
    Also, I believe that this analysis is your greatest/ strongest yet. Though I do have one problem: I personally believe Zannah is a better Soresu practitioner than Kenobi. She is a stone wall, but she's also able to advance her offensive sequences with ease like her duel with Johun and Sarro. She was also a skilled tactician; positioning herself to get an environmental advantage on Tython, playing her opponents against one another, and leaving one of her adversaries alive to weaken the other's fighting style even further. So I personally believe that Zannah would and could kill Malak, but I do agree that Revan > Bane. Regardless, a perfect video nonetheless and well done as always Antoine!

      @ForklifterMatt 7 лет назад +1

      Yeah, both this and Jensaarai1's Darth Malak vs. Yoda video have made me think much more highly of Malak. Do you think that you would ever use Malak in a video?

    • @ForklifterMatt
      @ForklifterMatt 7 лет назад +2

      ***** Oh right... for some reason I completely forgot about Malak's force abilities haha. Yes, you are right; Malak could use his powerful force powers to push Zannah on the defensive while still attempting to subdue her with his own offensive. Still, I believe Zannah could hold on and wait for the perfect moment to counterattack (which she is skilled in incorporating into her defensive walls).
      Zannah vs Johun Othone: "Were it not for the big man's brilliance, she would have quickly switched to an aggressive sequence and easily dispatched the smaller man." -Rule of Two
      Zannah vs Sarro Xaj: "In contrast, the man before her, massive though he was, would still die if her blades caught him. He had to guard against her counterattacks, his style less aggressive so he didn't leave himself vulnerable." -ROT
      Zannah vs Set Harth: "In their short encounter, she was presented with at least a dozen opportunities to land a lethal blow to the silver-haired man." -Dynasty of Evil
      "When he moved back in, she twisted her lightsaber in a sharp, unorthodox move, hooking one of her blades onto his and wrenching the weapon from his hand." -DOE
      I think these quotes from the book prove that not only can she quell powerful offensive maneuvers, but that she can also have devastating counterattacks when errors in her opponents' fighting styles present themselves. Since Malak has mastered a mostly offensive hybrid and since he had lost his jaw due to Revan finding a problem in Malak's fighting style and exploiting that by cutting off his jaw. I think Zannah could perform a similar feat to a much more devastating degree. Though this is just my interpretation of it :)

    An excellent duel! I couldn't have done better myself!
    Darth Vader vs. Darth Zannah: The Sith Juggernaut vs. The Sith Sorceress.
    I would like to see the best of the two Sith of their specialized classes to fight. I've also thought about this battle for some time too. I feel like with Zannah's mastery of sorcery it can either work really well or really bad against Vader. Essentially, I think it would be a wild card.
    The best way I think Zannah could employ her sorcery is to attack Vader's memories. She could show him all of his misdeeds and lowest points of his life (his mother dying in his arms, him choking Padme, etc.) These could erode at Vader's will somewhat.
    On the flip side, if Zannah does use sorcery against him and does use his memories, it could come of as a grandiose Dun Moch tactic. Don't forget that Vader associates those memories with someone whom he believes no longer exists: Anakin Skywalker. And Vader absolutely hates Anakin Skywalker. Zannah may suffer the boomerang effect of this tactic, only adding fire to Vader's rage and digging herself into her own grave.

      99thJediWarrior You're kidding, right? Zannah digging up Anakin's memories would be the worst possible thing for her to do. Even if she can hold on against Vader's devastating offensive, even if she can withstand his immense Force power, dredging up the very thing that gives Vader his unrelenting fury would enrage him and increase his power and skill a hundred thousandfold. She'd be rend asunder by Vader in mere seconds.

    • @opporancisis5237

      Vader does have powerful mental defenses as he feels little shame and guilt (by the time of ANH), and I think the boomerang effect will happen.

    • @geoffreyedgson7875
      @geoffreyedgson7875 7 лет назад +6

      Darth Vader could be in constant turmoil, but I actually agree that using Sith Sorcery and Spells on him would dangerously backfire. He would become dangerously enraged whenever someone even mentioned Pademe's death. And she was the only true fear that he had, nothing else had a emotional trigger for him: not Shmi Skywalker, not the jedi he killed in the temple, not Qui-Gon Jinn, not Kenobi. His emotions regarding Pademe were guilt, not fear.
      Also, Sith Sorcery was a power that Darth Sidious was well versed in. And he would have private collections describing it very well. Darth Vader did intend to kill Sidious and become the sole running Sith. Although his plans never fell-through, he did prepare for a confrontation with his master. So it stands to reason that someone as pragmatic as Vader would have studied Sith Sorcery to prepare himself to fight against it. Very much like Darth Bane did.
      Darth Zannah's spells would be either useless against Vader, or cause him to lash out at everything around him indiscriminately. The purpose of these illusion waste distract people, and leave them exposed to be killed. If Vader almost literally released an explosion of emotional-imbued power, Zannah would probably be atomized by the intensity.
      Even is she could use her Dark Tendrils, they probably would not be able to affect Vader very much. The Tendrils were described as consuming all living forces, and Vader's was much more inanimate than organic. Also, pain was even more familiar to him than Darth Bane. So he would lash-out with telekinesis to choke Zannah and blast he away at a whim.

    Thing with the rain feat
    1. It's stated that he was moving in a pattern. Not actively defending against each drop
    2. Lightsabers are known to create massive afterglows which would likely evaporate the drops they came into contact with. TPM Kenobi has been credited with creating a full shield out his blade via afterglows.
    3. He *still* wasn't able to stop all of the drops.
    It's a great feat. But people over blow it way to much

      You'll never hear after glow arguments from me. I think they are very flawed and inconsistent from author to author. Sometimes I feel the community over complicates certain feats. If we really out ourselves in Karypnshyn's shoes as he wrote that sequence ... What we are supposed to take from that scene is that Bane is a capable defensive fighter when need be. Trying to equate the passage with other pieces of lore with different writing styles and hyperbolic language breeds inconsistency.

      I think Revan in his prime could take Sidious as his abilities are perfect counters to Sidious's own. As far as Vader vs Malak, Evannova did a video on it, although I do think he short changed Malak a bit. If its Malak vs Sidious, I actually think that Malak could hold his own but ultimately lose. However, Vader vs Revan would be way closer and longer. So either way, Malak loses bringing down the team.

    I had little doubt in this outcome: while Bane and Zannah's powers grew from decades of hiding in the shadows, Revan and Malak's prowess were crafted in eight years of _open conflict._ Nice analysis, my freind.
    Of course, there are a few things missing from Bane and Revan's feats, particularly their defenses:
    1. Bane's dark side cocoon, which she used against Zannah in their first duel on Doan. He didn't have his lightsaber at the time, but that didn't mean he was helpless.
    2. Revan's use of tutaminus, which he must've remembered after regaining the memories implanted in his mask.
    In terms of telepathy, Revan could use Drain Knowledge on unwilling subjects. He once did that on The One in order to learn the Rakatan language as well as force Basic into the latter's brain. Kreia must've taught him that trick, because she used that on Atton Rand in the Telos Academy.
    Also, I'm sure no one has forgotten that Force Crush ability Bane used on Qordis. Major stuff.
    As for Malak, he seems to have had a better grasp of the dark side than Revan, as far as the Star Forge's full capacities are considered. And according to the Jedi Exile's vision on Korriban, when he was a Jedi, he learned tutaminus and Force healing. Furthermore, the Mandalorian scientist Demogal records Alek's remarkable ability to withstand torture: www.unboundworlds.com/2012/10/star-wars-shorts-the-secret-journal-of-doctor-demagol/
    Meanwhile, looking forward to any future Versus videos.

    Edit: I'd just note that if Bane could maneuver in such a way as to keep Malak between him and Revan he could potentially pierce Malak's comparatively lacking defense and take him out of the fight, bring it back to a one on one, though I see this as unlikely given Revan's tactical skill and intuition and the years of experience the two have of working as a team.

      I see where your coming from with Bane trying to switch things up and go up against Malak, in order to get an advantage on Revan, but you should take into consideration the thought of a duel between Revan and Zannah.......In terms of saber abilities, yeah it would take Revan some time getting passed Zannah's defense, but Revan's not dumb enough to prolong a fight with Saber combat if it's going to leave him at a disadvantage. If anything, he would switch to his force abilities and overpower Zannah. Her Sorcery would not be able to work against him, and literally has nothing on Revan in terms of the force.
      The question in your scenario is who would hold out longer: Malak or Zannah.

    • @filipguazzelli4753
      @filipguazzelli4753 7 лет назад

      Well, in that scenario I'm not sure, I favor Malak's longevity but Zannah could potentially hold out, even if Revan switched to his Force abilities she could defend against him, if not quite match him. However, I was actually referring to the point in the fight after Zannah fell, and Malak came to reinforce Revan and the fight became a 2v1. However, your point does make me think. One advantage Bane and Zannah have, is that they know a lot more about Revan and Malak than the other way around. They have the advantage of history, Bane even studied under Revan's holocron. It's entirely possible that Bane would recognize the threat they faced and opt for a more tactical approach and try to focus on Malak and bring him down first, even if that means condeming his apprentice to almost certain death.

    I'm sorry, I respect you a lot Antoine, in fact you're my favorite of the Forcecast, you're intelligent, you make high quality videos, and you seem like a really nice guy, but I heavily disagree with this verdict (which I doubt surprises anyone who knows me).
    Even assuming Zannah's sorcery is useless (which I disagree with), she still wouldn't lose to Malak. KOTOR Malak needed heavy augmentation from the Star Forge just to compete with KOTOR Revan and he still lost, whereas Zannah was able to hold her own against Prime Bane in lightsaber combat and match his command of the Force. And this incarnation of Revan is simply too far before his prime to actually beat Bane in his prime, with Bane having the greater dueling feats, Darth Revan's knowledge plus that of Freedon Nadd and Sorzus Syn, and quite frankly he just has better displays of lightning and telekinesis.
    So no, I don't agree with your verdict that the strongest incarnations of Bane and Zannah lose to the weakest incarnations of Revan and Malak, even though I respect the work that went into this video.
    I look forwards to your future videos, and I'm sorry if I came off like a dick in this comment.

      I agree antoine seems to not realised zannahs sorcery doesn't have to completely dominate the victim for it to be enough for her to win the fight. Even if Malak was only stunned by her sorcery for as long as Bane was if they are in close quarters of mid range of each other zannah can easily striker her opponent down in that time. The only reason she didn't end Bane that way was because she just jumped backwards several times to create some distance between them so Bane couldnt overwhelm her with a lightsaber.

      To Emperordmb
      What would be your counter to Malak's Force fear immunity. True she could make him feel pain, but we've seen the sort of pain he has gone through. As stated, her spell could give him pause, but I really don't see anything that says he'd be taken down by her spells, especially when he was a specific skill against it.
      With regards to Revan, he's not going to be much different from what we saw in his later novel, especially when considering the sort of compliments he was receiving from Scourge, the same sort of compliments Jedi Masters and Sith Lords were giving to him. Again, speculative, but I did warn of this at the start of the video. You're arguing from the stance of concrete feats rather than building out the world from accolades. A different type of analysis but that was the parameters setup from the start.
      To banethesithari
      Same as I said above with regards to Malak. In Bane and Zannah's final fight she describes this:
      "Zannah watched as Bane huddled against the ground, his lightsaber flailing wildly at invisible ghosts, but she didn't let her concentration falter. Bane's mind was strong; if she let up even for an instant he might break free of the spell."
      _Dynasty of Evil_
      Now you might simply disagree, but Malak's mind would just be just as strong based on the rituals he and Revan conducted, his ability to be on Malachor V without getting swallowed hole and eventually his use of the Star Forge. To me these showings suggest probably has some substantial willpower, even without a novelization describing such concrete feats. Zannah would not be able to do what she did to Sarro Xaj, casting her spell and then stabbing him when his guard was down. She'd need far more concentration against Malak. But again, there in lies a potential, simple disagreement of Malak's resistance levels.

    • @Emperordmb

      *"What would be your counter to Malak's Force fear immunity. True she could make him feel pain, but we've seen the sort of pain he has gone through. As stated, her spell could give him pause, but I really don't see anything that says he'd be taken down by her spells, especially when he was a specific skill against it."*
      I think the notion that having an RPG statistic saying "immune to fear effects" means Zannah's sorcery would have no effect on said person is overblown to be honest.
      1. I seriously doubt any of those RPG/Campaign guides take the advanced level and complexity of Zannah's spells of madness into consideration, as she does not appear in any of them. It's more than likely this statistic refers to the much more basic power/skill tree of Force fear/Force horror/Force insanity, telepathic abilities Bane has a grasp on and considers simple, whereas he regards Zannah's dark side sorcery as being complex and difficult to comprehend (even while underestimating the depth of Zannah's sorcery). So Zannah's spells of madness are well beyond the "fear effects" being considered in these sourcebooks.
      2. Characters who have been credited with immunity to fear effects in sourcebooks have demonstrated before that they are not in fact immune to fear effects. Yoda still struggled with the fear effects of the priestesses, Windu with nightmares on Haruun Kal, and Obi-Wan with the Sith artifact on that Sith planet plaguing him with fear and a series of nightmares following the clone wars, despite the fact that all were considered by the Clone Wars Campaign Guide to be immune to fear effects.
      3. Darth Bane in his extensive studies of Zannah's sorcery discovered that the only true counter to Zannah's spell was willpower. And to put this into perspective, Bane trained among the brotherhood of darkness, all of whom were stated to be highly mentally trained in Dark Forces Jedi Knight, and Path of Destruction confirms this by demonstrating that the students at the Korriban academy were trained in highly advanced telepathic techniques such as force meld (as Githany demonstrated leading a bunch of other pilots) and memory walk (as Bane demonstrated on a rancor on Lehon). On top of this the Force users of the era were stated to be skilled at telepathic combat in Dark Forces Jedi Knight, and Githany as well as many of the Sith masters trained under the Jedi at one point or another (with Githany even demonstrating a Jedi telepathic ability to Bane at one point). On top of this, Bane has acquired the holocrons of Darth Revan (one of the people stated to have "immunity to fear effects"), Freedon Nadd (who was stated to know every Force ability displayed in TOTJ media, with some of the TOTJ characters being "immune to fear effects", and had all of Naga Sadow's knowledge, which includes a lot of fear based sorcery), Sorzus Syn (One of the most knowledgeable Sith ever) and Darth Andeddu (a skilled sorcerer, illusionist, and pioneer of essence transfer). To recap, Bane was trained in Jedi and Sith techniques in an era with quite a bit of emphasis on telepathic combat, acquired the holocrons of four of the most knowledgeable Sith in the Mythos, two of whom are confirmed to have knowledge of this "immune to fear effects" ability, and all of them being masters of telepathy and mental attacks. Hell Bane himself even has knowledge of the common fear effects abilities, and on top of everything spent time researching extensively on how to counter Zannah's sorcery. This all leads to two possibilities; either Bane with all of his knowledge and intensive studying never came across this ability that's apparently so widespread 2/3 of the named force users in these campaign guides are credited with it (most of whom are much less knowledgeable than Bane), or the ability itself has no use or significance in regards to Zannah's spells of madness. I believe the latter is far far more likely as for the former to make sense there would have to be some weird Illuminati conspiracy shit going on with several teachers and creators of holocrons spread out across galactic history actively making an effort to conceal this relatively common knowledge from Bane.
      *"With regards to Revan, he's not going to be much different from what we saw in his later novel, especially when considering the sort of compliments he was receiving from Scourge, the same sort of compliments Jedi Masters and Sith Lords were giving to him. Again, speculative, but I did warn of this at the start of the video. You're arguing from the stance of concrete feats rather than building out the world from accolades. A different type of analysis but that was the parameters setup from the start."*
      I'd have to disagree even with your stance of building stuff up from accolades. Based on an accolades Malak, Redeemed Revan managed to at least build himself back up to his level of power he held as Darth Revan, despite having none of the rather insane quantity of dark side knowledge Darth Revan possessed (which when learned by Bane in POD caused a rather tremendous power growth). I have difficulty believing Darth Revan is so close to Revan Reborn when Revan Reborn is essentially a Revan who was already on Darth Revan's level without his immense amount of Sith knowledge with the addition of said Sith knowledge.

    As usual a great video particularly the editing which was top notch. I do disagree with you on several points though.
    14:23 Bane was capable of doing way more than that with his lightening. In rule of two he casually turned a drexl into nothing but charred bone and its rider to ash with one blast of lightening. This being before the 10 year time skip so bane had barely over a year of training at that point. In dynasty of evil it was stated bane would of turned multiple mercenaries that ambushed him to ash had his powers not been weakened by the huntress. then later in his first fight with zannah in that novel his lightening disintegrates a large part of a stone wall.
    19:00 Revan is not on vitiates level...in the revan novel vitiate was toying with him and then completely overwhelmed him with a blast of lightening and this was before vitiate got two massive boosts in power on Yavin 4 and ziost.
    23:30 you've completely misunderstood that quote. It's foreshadowing the thought bomb of cause Bane doubted he ever dare use it because it would kill him. Just because Bane could barely wrap his head around some of the abilities revan knew doesn't mean much as bane hadn't even had a years worth of training at that point.
    You say you doubt bane can match revans raw power yet every ability both commonly use Bane has far superior feats such as tk and lightening. Heck in the shadow of revan expansion cut scene just before the fight starts revans force push doesn't even instantly kill the none force users it hits...How is revan going to outsmart bane ? if they were leading armies against each other then sure revan outclasses bane in grand strategy but that is completely different to strategy. Revan has displayed nowhere near the same levels of ability with strategy as he has grand strategy. In his fight with vitate is only strategy was to try and get in close then made a dumb mistake of trying to catch vitiates lightening with his hands. In his fights in the foundry and on yavin 4 he didn't even target the none force users and immediately kill them first then take out the weaker force users till only a few remained. He just tried to blindly fight everyone at once and temporarily in incapacitated each of the force users fighting him till he lost. Though i have no doubt revan was a good strategist there is a huge difference between being good and being as skilled as revan is with grand strategy.
    Yes zannah had pretty poor offence with a lightsaber but she didn't to because her standard strategy was to hold off a defence until her opponent tires so she can go on the offence or makes a mistake she can exploit (either due to exhaustion, human error or inferior skill). I think saying there isnt even a 1/10 chance malak would tire out or make a mistake zannah could exploit before malak finished her off is absurd. Especially due to how much better soresu is at conserving energy. Malak would have to completely outclass zannah in terms of endurance for the chance to be less than 1/10. Also zannahs sorcery doesn't have to completely dominate the victim for it to be enough for her to win the fight. Also i doubt Malaks force abilities would do much to zannah considering Bane never even attempted ot use any on her in their fights.
    You're assuming bane has such a slim chance of overwhelming revan despite revan having never fought someone a skilled as bane with a saber (as least no one who can compete with him in terms of power int he force as well) people seem to underestimate banes skill with a blade. He wasnt just a master he went well beyond that i'd say almost like obi wan with soresu or dooku with makashi who are a whole other level beyond mastering their preferred forms. Even zannah a master duellist in her own right admitted bane was way beyond her with a blade and she would never be able to be his equal with a lightsaber and to prove that wasnt zannnah underestimating her self or overestimating bane in the duel part of their fight he completely dominated her. People seem to assume a master of niman has as good defence as a master of soresu, the overwhelming offence of a master of djem so, the precision of a master of makashi and so on but this isnt the case. Niman specifically isnt as good as any of those forms as what those forms are best at. If a master of soresu like zannah gets completely overwhelmed by banes offence then how can revans inferior defence stand up to him ?
    Edit: another point you went on about how much revan knows yet you never mentioned bane not only learnt from darth revans holocron but he was also able to add the knowledge of Freedon Nadd, Belia Darzu, and Darth Andeddu new about the dark side from there holocrons meaning he has a huge advantage in knowledge of the darkside over Revan.

    • @AntoineBandele
      @AntoineBandele  7 лет назад +20

      14:23 Seems a tad petty. I made it rather clear how powerful Bane's lightning was.
      19:00 I specifically said Revan was _not_ on Vitiate's level, so I'm not sure why this was written.
      23:30 Even in _Dynasty of Evil_ Bane was not doing any of those rituals. And in _Rule of Two_ he was struggling with his holocron. Darth Revan had only proclaimed himself a Sith Lord for no more than two years, though it's likely closer to a year and he got his holocron done, discovered the Star Forge and reinstated Korriban. Unlike Bane, who took near a decade just for his holocron. Even so, after this little bit I specifically said that Bane not having his head wrapped around rituals is irrelevant to active combat.
      Most of Bane's lighting-charing feats were against non-Force sensitives. Oh wait ... I think I responded to you about the points of speculative reasoning in a comment below. Yes, in fact I did.
      Considering that Zannah's offensive output was only effective against someone like Set Harth, yes, I do not believe that's enough to take out Malak, who was essentially considered the best duelist during the time of the Mandalorian/Jedi Civil War. And it's unlikely he'd fall to fatigue when he could adjust to a less exhaustive style, plus he should have substantial stamina considering he played vanguard for two wars. So yeah, for me, the chances are more likely in favor for Malak than Zannah in that regard.
      Never once in my video did I say "niman has a good defense as a master of soresu" and all the rest you wrote, nor did I even insinuate that. The angle of my argument was the aspect of timing and tempo. I don't believe Revan some-god-tier-OP destroy-and-defend-against-anything type of character, but it's his ability to adjust that makes him so effective, especially when Malak is listed as a better pure swordsman. That's the beauty of a true Niman master, they aren't great at one thing, their just solid in everything. Not sure how you got the idea Revan in this video was a master defender or attacker, when I made a point of the exact opposite, especially in the verdict when I stated that Bane's turn to Juyo would likely tax Revan, as the curved hilt would give him the slight varied and nuances blade strokes to hinder Revan's pre-cog. The only round where I may have given credit to Revan's sheer talent was his Force abilities, and that was based on accolades from characters who knew him on both sides.

      As far as the holocron thing, that was VERY condition for Revan and Bane. Unlike Revan who would have had training from the true Sith Empire and access to their holocrons as a guide for his own, Bane had little access or resources for making holocrons at the time.

      banethesithari This was very interesting comment how would you rank bane compared to other sith? like do you think he is top 5 or top 3 in terms of the most powerful sith?

    • @banethesithari
      @banethesithari 6 лет назад +2

      Monarch57 I'd say bane is top 10 though it's kind of hard to specifically rank someone in the top 10 as most of them are all so close overall. My top 10 in no particular order is sidious, plageuis, bane, krayt, valkorian, exar kun, caedus, Vader, zannah then probably wyyylock III though I change my mind of the 10th person alot as it's so close

      Is totally agree on Zannah it's does need to overwhelm you to be effective.. And another thought that never factor in any of his team battles bane is always alone

    Again, an excellent video Antonie! While I partially agree with the overall outcome, as I do see Revan and Malak as the stronger team, I would be more likely to buy it if we are using Revan Reborn. Revan Reborn in my opinion is closer in level to Bane (who would have had pretty much the same amount of success against Vitiate IMO) while the Darth incarnation of Revan is often overrated in my view. Like you said, much of his feats at that time are accolades which are conferred in second or third hand accounts, if even that. It's basically a Tulak Hord situation. When going into such hypotheticals, while I respect your efforts, they simply do not carry the same weight for me as as more concrete facts. So I wasn't as able to enjoy this one as much as the others, although that is not really an error on your part. I would question though why again you has said that Revan was effectively a master of all seven forms when that HAS NOT been stated anywhere. Yes, we know he would have been skilled in all of them. However, that does not equate to mastery. Yes, he would have been a master of at lest two of them to know Juyo. Yet again, that does not equate to mastery of all of them. Extending from this, I don't agree with your view of Revan being the "MVP" of lightsaber combat in this bout. Yes, Revan was more generalized and versatile which allowed him much more to work with. But in my view, guys like Malak and Bane would have an edge over him because they are more specialized in Forms that are specifically geared towards lightsaber combat. Since we are using Bruce Lee quotes, one that I think is relevant is "I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times." In my opinion, Revan as a Niman user (supplemented by all the other Forms) is spread too thin in his skills compared to more specialized fighters. This would go in line with his character, as he is more of a Consular/Sorcerer than a Guardian/Warrior. You analysis of Revan as swordsman, in my view, is affected by you trying to compensate for the idea of Malak losing his jaw to Revan in a saber fight. However, I don't see this as a proof that Revan straight up beat the supposedly better Malak in lightsaber combat alone since we are neither show nor given deals of that fight. It could very well be that Malak was the better fighter, but Revan just used his superior Force powers to knock him down and then followed up with a saber to the jaw.

      That's a general problem with characters from rpgs like Revan,The Exile ect.... the game have to leave room for the players to do the story line in ways what they want,fight however they want.play the game the way they want.Yes they have feats with some details but lots of vagueness must be.There people who say Revan was an absolute master apex of saber on par with yoda and mace,,but then Drew said in an interview that the exile is probably better which is quite funny since he was the who ruined the character,it becomes quite messy sometimes.
      Bottom line is Both your and antoine's interpretation could be true but until there is no novelisation of Kotor(which probably never gonna happen) we not gonna know for sure.
      Just be careful with Revan fanboys,they bite!

      You do realize Malak was not Malak until he was a Sith right? Before taking on the Sith title his name was Alek, aka Squint. You can see this in the KOTOR campaign guide and the KOTOR comics.

    • @CompositeCreativity
      @CompositeCreativity 7 лет назад +1

      Scotty Davidson Why is that hard to handle for you? His real name from birth was Alek. Check the frickin' lore, and you would know this. Malak only became his name AFTER his fall to the dark side. Anyone familiar with the KOTOR lore knows this to be fact.
