From a meagre miner on a backwater world, to the Sith Lord that would change the course of history itself, Bane is one of the most powerful and influential Sith to ever live. I could listen to the Bane trilogy a dozen times over and never get bored of it.
It's also worth mentioning that Zannah's original apprentice, the dark Jedi Set Harth, betrayed Zannah and left Doan with Darth Andeddu's holocron. He is seen at the end of the third book in an unknown location opening Andeddu's holocron to learn the secrets of Force essence transfer.
Harth lived on through the centuries after mastering the transfer living in clone bodies of himself for over a century.he lived to see the yuzhan vong war. Adenddu holocron was found by dooku on korriban. It was never explained how dooku got it and why set would leave it behind

Everyone who loves Legends say that the Thrawn Trilogy was their favorite EU story. For me personally, it was the Darth Bane Trilogy that made me very interested in Expanded Universe.

Seriously love how connected the EU was, things that happened thousands of years ago in a comic, get resolved thousands of years later in an otherwise unrelated video game. Quality control. The Star Wars EU was edited properly to form one giant narrative, with contradictions kept much lower than many other novel series. It cost a lot of time and money, but vastly improved the quality as a whole.

The reason why we saw the connections we did and why history flowed so well was because it was the same group of writers doing most of the old EU books. They did a good job of communicating stories and ideas with one another and the story group basically allowed them to do what they wanted and made minimal corrections and/or changes.
All the spirits were trapped until Kyle Katarn freed them. (Headcanon for me is that the "Darth Bane Trilogy"is canon, and everyone else can shut up if they disagree. Even Disney.)

I didn't understand why a Sith Lord would want less Sith to rule over, much less that he would make a rule that he would expect later generations of Sith to follow....and that those Sith would follow the rule just because he said so. Based on what you said here, it looks like Bane only had one goal in mind, destroying the Jedi, and he believed (correctly) that the best way to do that was to focus the Dark Side of the Force on himself and his apprentice rather than on the multiple Sith across the galaxy. The only reason why this idea became a rule was because Darth Bane's apprentice agreed that this was a good idea and therefore passed it down by tradition.
Read the books. Totally worth it. Darth Bane is a monster. Love him. Plus, I think he lived on in Zanna. Her hand was shaking at the end ;-) Disney would make billions off Darth Bane movies.
Disney already turned him into a dull character. He went from: the man that manipulated the brotherhood of darkness into committing suicide because he believed that they were a mockery of what Sith are supposed to be thus creating the rule of two and dieing in combat by his appearance zannah, to the guy who somehow survived the war with the jedi create the rule of two and then got killed by the jedi a couple years later.
@No Body I wouldn't call the story stupid but I agree with the "spreading thin" thing. The author should have just left it at "dark side users will always turn on each other" and be done with it. Otherwise, the story was fine. I think the plot holes were there simply because the books would have been 2 thousand pages each if they were not.
I remember getting the Darth Maul covered edition before the movie was released. It blew my 13 yr old mind when Qui-gon (sp?) died. I was so obsessed with episode 1, i even collected all 24 pepsi product cans with all the characters on them, even ended up finding one of the gold yoda cans. I still have the cans although most have leaked out over the years
I am frustrated that so many epic stories were thrown away, when each one could have been an excellent tv series of movie trilogy, especially Darth Banes story!
Darth Bane series is my favorite. But Star Wars episode III, Revenge of the Sith is the best SW book I've read: in fact, one of the best novels I've read in general. I highly recommend it.

Love it. And reading about him facing Zannah in the prison without his lightsaber, one of my favorite battles, even though it was short.
Bane is my favorite Stih. He may not have been the strongest of all but imo he was the most all around badass of the non original Sith from way back in the SW timeline.

Darth bane, kas'im, revan, malgus are my favorite sith from the old republic era. Which is a loose term encompassing the dawn of the jedi, kotor, and the old republic eras. I think I might be missing a few. Their is a good amount of time between those and before those eras.

And to my knowledge, Ragnos is the only Sith Lord to remain undefeated and die of old age, and even on his dying bed no one dared to challenge him; his own force ghost causing terror in remaining sith. Vitiate was on the council, and was too scared and weak to challenge Naga Sadow. After becoming Emperor and doing his ritual, Vitiate ordered the destruction of Sith Spirits, which tells me he was scared of Marka Ragnos returning (this is debatable of course). Marka Ragnos, Darth Bane, Darth Sidious= The Big 3 names of the Sith that truly embodies the Dark side. If you were to name 3 more to make 6 I would add King Ades, Darth Ruin, Darth Plagueis. To add 3 more to make the nine it would be: The original Jedi Exiles, Vitiate and Revan (as i would throw the Dark Side significance of Revan to vitiate), Exar Kun. To concrete in 3 more to make the 12 I would add: Freedom Nadd, Darth Traya, Lord Kaan (yes kaan, as his actions had that significant amount of impact) This is all my opinion of course. I doubt anybody else would agree on my lists of 3,6,9 and 12. Darth Vader would be the 13 (Ophiuchus of the Zodiac).

I don’t want to steer people away from a well made video, and I don’t want to be disrespectful to its creator, but at the same time I would love for people to go and read the trilogy first without spoilers and then come back and watch this video. I can remember reading only a handful of books in my life. Star Wars Darth Bane , these books were the only ones I remember besides the Bible. I don’t read books, I read those books. This was like 15yrs ago I think

a friend who's since passed loaned me his Bane books so he'd have someone to "Remember when this/that happened?" with. Miss 'em. That said, Bane was entertaining but yeah, he was a stinker to say the least. One mean and tough cat.
I feel it’s only right to mention that the only reason Bane was “defeated” by Cognus was because he had recently exhausted himself by bypassing Darth Andeddu’s Holocron defenses AND Cognus ambushed him with twenty other soldiers firing on him simultaneously. Had he not been exhausted, she and the twenty soldiers she had with her never would have stood a chance.
Not only that. But he forced his way into Andeddu's Holocron, pulling all the information it contained therin at once, learning him mentally exhausted.. also he was unaware of the toxins she used to subdue him. She also had a natural affinity for the dark side, capable of degrading other users to the force, and he still pushed it away as nothing, but still notes that he felt it Anyway, you're right. I'm merely expanding for those who may follow.
He actually didn't "create" the Rule of Two. Revan did. Bane just enacted Revan's plan for the Sith after he found Revan's holocron. Him finding the holocron was one of the best parts of the novel, gave me chills.
The concept of 2 sith is nothing new since a master requires an apprentice. But Bane enacted a major change in the sith by eradicating the weak ones to leave himself and Zannah as the only 2.
Let me get this straight: Revan not only planned for nearly all Sith to be eradicated, but also hide those who remained from basically everyone, knowing full well that their greed and selfishness might one day screw them over one final time - this time with no more Sith to pick up the pieces. Do I have that right?
Everytime I re-read Path of Destruction, I imagine Des' neimoidian bartender friend Groshik voiced by Seth Rogen. It's hilarious. He even takes a hit off a vaporizer in the book, and I hear Seth doing a bong rip and coughing up a lung. Makes the chapter a thousand times funnier.

I’m actually reading Star Wars legends Darth bane path of destruction I love how you broke down over 400 pages into 30 minutes or his story it is really cool to hear some of the words I couldn’t pronounce correctly pronounced correctly
It's been years since I read those books but I remember having the perception that when her hand started twitching that meant that Darth Bane was the actual winner of that struggle of the force essence transfer and he was just keeping that fact a secret.
I wish they would have just kept it ambiguous and left it up to the interpretation of the reader. It would have further cemented the legend of Darth Bane; the idea that thousands of years later he could still exist, having lived out many lifetimes, slowly increasing his knowledge of the dark side; possibly even orchestrating events.
Well, in theory it would make Disney'Sequel trilogy somewhat justifiable on certain events. Like with Palpatine proclaiming "I am all the Sith". Though I find the thought of Rey being his granddaughter still out of place. They could have pulled a Terminator(Jon Connor) move and made Rey actually Anakins mother, "Shmi", time looping the whole Saga. Bad i know, but would have been better than what we got and would have justified her powers (imho). As to her not having any power in TPM, it could be said she simply cut off her connection the day Anakin was born or some bs like that... But I didn't go to writing schools, and the people that did obviously know better than me. Lol Anyway, it's an interesting concept that Bane would be the true designer of everything from his time until Sidious. In a truly Dark and twisted way.

Des- Darth Bane. IMO is the the greatest sith lord. He went from being an abused poverty stricken miner, to accomplished sith soldier to being accept as a dark lord, rejecting the brotherhood, learning from revan and the old masters, even seized the darth title ,he single handedly destroyed and rebult the sith and establishing a new legacy- rule of two. Dismissing past sith mistakes , instead relying on cunning, manipulation and deceit, his legacy would live on and one day his prophecy would come true- the sith would conquer the galaxy, a prophecy Palpatine fullfilled and unfortunately his death marked the end of banes sith.
So that's the story of Darth Bane not only he was the only survivor of the Sith he is also the founder and the creator of the rule of two it all makes sense now that's his legacy so it could pass on to the next generation of Sith

On tythus or whatever with the mad sick battle between the 3+ jedi vs bane and Zan-- you said jedi put bubble on his ally at last second --- BUT I am almost certain it was AROUND BANE. It caused the lightning to reflect and cause a type of circuit, melting him almost.
Darovit has a striking resemblance to Frieza whom was apparently brought back through the help of some DragonBall to try and defeat a jedi by the name of Goku. This would be FREEKN AWESOME!

The Darth Bane series was my favorite. They definitely should’ve made his life into a series of movies.
Great video dude! I have always heard of Darth Bane and all the good things about his stories but never actually read any of them. This video was super interesting though and made me very interested in Bane. Super excited to see what you do next!
Darth bane, kas'im, revan, malgus are my favorite sith from the old republic era. Which is a loose term encompassing the dawn of the jedi, kotor, and the old republic eras. I think I might be missing a few. Their is a good amount of time between those and before those eras.
Kas im was awesome. His battle with Bane was legendary. Kas was best fighter in star wars lore IMO
@@lordoffaiyum9727 he was a bad mofo. Basically the sith equivalent to a Jedi battlemaster. Still skilled and powerful with the force but he primarily focused on sword combat. To me, for both sith and jedi you have both rank and classes for each respectively.

Now Marka Ragnos? That was a bad dude! Even Naga Sadow and ludo kreesh feared challenging that Dark Lord. And to my knowledge, Ragnos is the only Sith Lord to remain undefeated and die of old age, and even on his dying bed no one dared to challenge him; his own force ghost causing terror in remaining sith. Vitiate was on the council, and was too scared and weak to challenge Naga Sadow. After becoming Emperor and doing his ritual, Vitiate ordered the destruction of Sith Spirits, which tells me he was scared of Marka Ragnos returning (this is debatable of course).
Marka Ragnos, Darth Bane, Darth Sidious= The Big 3 names of the Sith that truly embodies the Dark side.
If you were to name 3 more to make 6 I would add King Ades, Darth Ruin, Darth Plagueis.
To add 3 more to make the nine it would be: The original Jedi Exiles, Vitiate and Revan (as i would throw the Dark Side significance of Revan to vitiate), Exar Kun.
To concrete in 3 more to make the 12 I would add: Freedom Nadd, Darth Traya, Lord Kaan (yes kaan, as his actions had that significant amount of impact)
This is all my opinion of course. I doubt anybody else would agree on my lists of 3,6,9 and 12.
Darth Vader would be the 13 (Ophiuchus of the Zodiac).

If you haven’t read the Darth Bane trilogy, you are truly missing out. I don’t want to steer people away from a well made video, and I don’t want to be disrespectful to its creator, but at the same time I would love for people to go and read the trilogy first without spoilers and then come back and watch this video. Admit it, you laughed your butt off in Book 2 when Bane is building his Holocron, accidentally destroys it and just sits and stares for a moment before his fury over takes him 😂

I can remember reading only a handful of books in my life. Star Wars Darth Bane , these books were the only ones I remember besides the Bible. I don’t read books, I read those books. This was like 15yrs ago I think

a friend who's since passed loaned me his Bane books so he'd have someone to "Remember when this/that happened?" with. Miss 'em. That said, Bane was entertaining but yeah, he was a stinker to say the least. One mean and tough cat.
I feel it’s only right to mention that the only reason Bane was “defeated” by Cognus was because he had recently exhausted himself by bypassing Darth Andeddu’s Holocron defenses AND Cognus ambushed him with twenty other soldiers firing on him simultaneously. Had he not been exhausted, she and the twenty soldiers she had with her never would have stood a chance.
Not only that. But he forced his way into Andeddu's Holocron, pulling all the information it contained therin at once, learning him mentally exhausted.. also he was unaware of the toxins she used to subdue him. She also had a natural affinity for the dark side, capable of degrading other users to the force, and he still pushed it away as nothing, but still notes that he felt it
Anyway, you're right. I'm merely expanding for those who may follow.

He actually didn't "create" the Rule of Two. Revan did. Bane just enacted Revan's plan for the Sith after he found Revan's holocron. Him finding the holocron was one of the best parts of the novel, gave me chills.
The concept of 2 sith is nothing new since a master requires an apprentice. But Bane enacted a major change in the sith by eradicating the weak ones to leave himself and Zannah as the only 2.
Let me get this straight:
Revan not only planned for nearly all Sith to be eradicated, but also hide those who remained from basically everyone, knowing full well that their greed and selfishness might one day screw them over one final time - this time with no more Sith to pick up the pieces.

Everytime I re-read Path of Destruction, I imagine Des' neimoidian bartender friend Groshik voiced by Seth Rogen. It's hilarious. He even takes a hit off a vaporizer in the book, and I hear Seth doing a bong rip and coughing up a lung. Makes the chapter a thousand times funnier.

Honestly, reading through the trilogy of books had to be one of my favorite EU experiences. It’s up there with the Plagueis novel in my book.

I’m actually reading Star Wars legends Darth bane path of destruction I love how you broke down over 400 pages into 30 minutes or his story it is really cool to hear some of the words I couldn’t pronounce correctly pronounced correctly

It's been years since I read those books but I remember having the perception that when her hand started twitching that meant that Darth Bane was the actual winner of that struggle of the force essence transfer and he was just keeping that fact a secret.
I wish they would have just kept it ambiguous and left it up to the interpretation of the reader. It would have further cemented the legend of Darth Bane; the idea that thousands of years later he could still exist, having lived out many lifetimes, slowly increasing his knowledge of the dark side; possibly even orchestrating events.
Well, in theory it would make Disney'Sequel trilogy somewhat justifiable on certain events. Like with Palpatine proclaiming "I am all the Sith".
Though I find the thought of Rey being his granddaughter still out of place. They could have pulled a Terminator(Jon Connor) move and made Rey actually Anakins mother, "Shmi", time looping the whole Saga. Bad i know, but would have been better than what we got and would have justified her powers (imho). As to her not having any power in TPM, it could be said she simply cut off her connection the day Anakin was born or some bs like that... But I didn't go to writing schools, and the people that did obviously know better than me. Lol
Anyway, it's an interesting concept that Bane would be the true designer of everything from his time until Sidious. In a truly Dark and twisted way.
I loved the Darth Bane book. I really wished they would revisit the old canon to recreate these old books into film

And most of the characters are widely diverse in appearance .Also a masculine white mans man is the ultimate villain. What more check boxes could they want😂
Of course all those female characters other than Zannah end up dead. yeah, they may not like that

Des- Darth Bane. IMO is the the greatest sith lord. He went from being an abused poverty stricken miner, to accomplished sith soldier to being accept as a dark lord, rejecting the brotherhood, learning from revan and the old masters, even seized the darth title ,he single handedly destroyed and rebult the sith and establishing a new legacy- rule of two. Dismissing past sith mistakes , instead relying on cunning, manipulation and deceit, his legacy would live on and one day his prophecy would come true- the sith would conquer the galaxy, a prophecy Palpatine fullfilled and unfortunately his death marked the end of banes sith.

On tythus or whatever with the mad sick battle between the 3+ jedi vs bane and Zan-- you said jedi put bubble on his ally at last second --- BUT I am almost certain it was AROUND BANE. It caused the lightning to reflect and cause a type of circuit, melting him almost.
Darovit has a striking resemblance to Frieza whom was apparently brought back through the help of some DragonBall to try and defeat a jedi by the name of Goku. This would be FREEKN AWESOME!

I feel a disturbance in the force, about a Sith I never heard of showing up in my recommendations some years later.
This sith makes other sith seem like Choir Boys: "cry'ya boys"( yelling in Arnold swarzeneggar- reference "End of Days")
They could do so much more with the force than modern Jedi.
