He’s a Vader clone invented by TOR devs because they wanted a character similar to the ones in the movies
Darth Malak characters from the EU are significantly more powerful..at least several of them (Revan, Vitiate, EU Sidious, etc) would pretty much wipe the floor with even canon Sidious.

Outcome is correct but Malgus did not require a cybernetic suit to be held together. His suit was simply armor. He worse a respirator as his only means of physical aid. But he could live without it.
I agree, Malgus had armor with a respirator system built as an addon into the armor system to only help augment additional oxygen when absolutely needed, and could easily live without the asperatus for some period of time

I think that Maul is extremely underrated just because he lost to Kenobi as a Padawan. Maul is more powerful than most people think. I hold high regards for Maul, and he is my favorite Sith, too.
Maul is definitely underrated because he fights characters who demand survival due to plot.

Malgus would overwhelm Maul. Maul won battles, Malgus won wars and fought the very best at his time. He's noted by even Palpatine and Vader to be one of the greatest Duelests in force history, Malgus based his entire life around combat where Maul around his Master. Malgus is a fully trained Sith, Maul is an assassin. Malgus wins hands down.

Lets not forget that his cybernetic sute also gave him superhuman strength, add the forze to incrise that strength, a kick or a stricke would have fataly wounded anny one, or outrigth kill them. Malgus should have had won with sutch overwhelming superiorety, not what is described in this vid.
I have to agree with your assessment. Maul is no punk. He was tough as nails and a highly skilled duelist but then so is Malgus. They were both aggressive and powerful in their strikes but as mentioned in this video and by some of the other commentators as well as some of the material I have read about him Maul preferred to best apponents through superior blade work whereas Malgus had no such personal m limitations placed on himself. Malgus's only drive would be to win by whatever means necessary. He would not hesitate to chain Force Power attacks in conjunction with his blade work to keep Maul off balance. Even if Maul realised in combat that he should do likewise Malgus's prediction for using this tactic more frequently would give his the edge both in superior proficiency with this tactic and an overall greater mastery with The Force. That alone should win him the victory but, as mentioned in this video, while Maul had combat experience, Malgus had so much more of it. Malgus fought Wars consistantly in his career fighting Jedi and rival Sith almost non-stop throughout his career. Maul wouldn't bring anything to the table that Malgus hadn't seen before and overcome. Many times Maul's victory over Jedi came from the Jedi he faced being thrown off by his double bladed style. Malgus was used to dueling doublebladed opponents and would not be taken back by dueling someone using this style. Ultimately Malgus's level of experience in dueling against many different styles of Lightsaber wielding Force practitioners would give him an edge in that he would not only have not difficulty in fighting a duelist like Maul having fought similar opponents before but he could very well bring tactics and strategies to the fight that Maul had simply never been exposed to. This would result in Malgus's victory. Maul's self imposed tactical limitations coupled with Malgus's not having such limitations and overall experience would be too much for Maul to overcome. Ultimately the Sith Assasin, Darth Maul, would fall to the True Sith Lord and Combat Veteran, Darth Malgus.

Look, I like Maul... as you might see from my profile pic. I'm not that much of a fan of Malgus either. But Malgus would eat Maul alive. A full on battle-forged warlord, the guy was a fucking tank. During a time when the Jedi and Sith openly waged war against each other, he wasn't just brutal but he was a strategist. Malgus survived an entire mountain coming down on his head. Maul is a great fighter and a superb assassin, but against Malgus, Maul would resign himself to becoming Malgus's apprentice.

Maul was tortured as training to a point where pain fed him, malgus equally so but its nowhere near as powerful.
Malgus is stronger than maul to begin with, but the rise of power upon recieving pain is more on Mauls side than malgus'.

Darth Maul is usually underestimated as a whole and Darth Vadar overestimated imo. I think Darth maul as Sidious apprentice was a master physically and light saber duels when Vader is a master force user. Vadar would crush maul theu the force but also Maul would kill vadar if it was a light saber duel like Luke va vadar maul would overwhelm him with his speed vadar wouldn't be able to react fast enough to try to use his force... Anyway,Maul NEVER completed his Sith Lord training in the force and if he would have,he would have been a superior apprentice to sidious than vadar but vadar never lived up to his true potential like maul cuz he was made cyborg and that prevented his 100% potential from coming out. Overall he is sidious's other apprentice for a reason...Maul may have been killed but Maul was easily overpowering obi and his master at the same time! That's fuckin skill. That obi caught him off Gaurd and jumped and killed him was just his death alone,it doesn't mean obi was better than maul much the same as Vadsr was NOT superior to sidious. Vader killed audio is thru catching him off Gaurd and throwing him in a hole not dueling him as he knew he would be beaten. Maul should've come a lot longer and lived up to his potential as the pre darth vadar and prly battle vadar and Bearly lose to him to give rise to anakin as vadar replacing maul. Mace was superior to Malgus in saber combat by TPM Circa and after only ever being bested by Dooku And Yoda although not easily in there sparring matches or tying with them but never beating them yeah.

Maul is strong. But please... the old siths and jedis were way stronger. More combat experience, harsher/better training, higher expectations. Sidious Vs Malgus would be a matchup.

Russian Guy Keep in mind Starkiller did the same thing, and.... no, just... no, Malgus is NOT in the same category as Maul, I can't even.... alright man since I'm no maul expert I'm going to hold it back and ask if you can tell me how Maul can survive what had to have been 500 tons of force from Satele Shans force blast on Alderaan and still fight his way out, how Maul can vaporize (outright reduce to ash) 3 Jedi at once (Decieved novel) and even produce a force maelstrom, a power that puts his raw power on par with someone like Bane.
need I also mention that the first two feats mentioned were before his biggest power increase (that being the death of Eleena allowing his full immersion into the dark side)
New conclusion, Malgus would open up with Force Maelstrom and just plain win like that. Maul could do jack shit while being flown around in circles while being electrocuted.
Also, not sure how Malgus struggled against Satele in their actual lightsaber duel in Aldeeran, he litterly had the fight through out the duel, untill Jace Malcom arrived with his plotarmor-no-jutsu (He was litterly unfazed or damaged by the Force Lightning, and suffered close to almost nothing from the grenade).

Darth Maul Bull. There's no proof for that whatsoever.
Malgus himself is an expert in cloaking himself, he could roam the Republic Capital during the war, without being discovered, he infiltrated the Jedi Temple, without being discovered untill he shows himself, and that's WAY harder for him, since he's way more immersed in the Dark Side, and is 100x stronger in the Force than Maul.
He's also got a 6th sense kinda, where he can feel attacks before they happen, like any Jedi & Sith worth their salt.
So, nah, you're wrong.

I have grown to respect Maul over the last couple years through his novels, but in the end he is incredibly 1 dimensional in combat. Malgus is a Dark Side power user disguised as a a pure brawler. Maul VS Malgus would be like a ballerina VS a heavyweight boxer, sure Maul would extend the fight through speed and movement but Malgus would brutalize him. I wouldn't be surprised if Malgus accidentally killed Maul early in the fight while simply trying to toy with him. I respect Maul, but Malgus is a freaking BOSS!
There is nothing that would suggest Malgus could blitz Maul so quickly. Malgus was almost defeated by Aryn Leneer's Force rage speed. If Maul was of the same speed as Aryn or even faster, then Maul's speed might get an upper hand Malgus.

+Pierce Wise Kylo is obviously so invested to become the new Vader, it has made him a punk little......I'm not going to finish that. While Sith are suppose to use emotion, Kylo relies on anger (not rage) too much and obviously shows great fear in his fighting style and actions. Kylo is also obviously a pawn of Snoke who will drop Kylo if he deems necessary making it where he wouldn't train Kylo to his peak as that could make the boy a threat due to being unpredictable with his thoughts. The only saving grace Kylo would have is by using the force when almost defeated if he realizes too, as we did not see much of Savage using the force, which might mean he just didn't prefer to use it and that perhaps he is more under-trained in it then what he was, though this could be false. But we must also take into account that since Kylo does not appear to always think of the best course of action, he may not end up using the force to win in the end.
+Trinity Purcell Kylo is literally at padawan level when it comes to lightsaber dueling, i'd say he's pretty strong with the force since he stopped himself from bleeding out after taking a direct hit from chewie's powerful crossbow that was blasting stormtroopers apart. Or when he stop a blaster mid force. I think he is capable of becoming a powerful sith, but he never finished training as jedi or even a sith. By kylo's defense, he was hurting when we actually see him fight. I'm sure Rey and the traitor would have lost had been at 100%

Antoine Bandele I disagree with the overall verdict.In lightsaber dueling,I see them as equals and in the force Malgus definitely takes the win.If Malgus does get frustrated , he'll unleash a barrage of strikes at Maul.If Maul's lightsaber is sliced off , He could recover and use one blade.Its Juyo(Maul) vs Djem So (Malgus) and I believe Juyo is superior to Djem So in the long run. When Force Lightning comes to play (TCW) Maul will crumble but TPM will rise from the pain and Malgus would be overwhelmed in time.

Before this starts I'm putting my money on malgus with a medium to medium-high level of difficulty he's got far more combat experience and whilst like maul he tends to be a ferociously violent and angry fighter he is also extremly sharp minded able to think and switch on the go where maul is more a whirling dervish a blunt instrument if you will.

Fair enough. Still i hope you will consider it in future. He is very skilled. I know Kanan is not a lightsaber master by any means. But the Inquisitor kicks his ass easily each time. Also his lightsaber design with an Exar kun length is a very unique weapon.
AlphaOmega804 I have my reservations about including the Inquisitor in any of these matchups. Despite the fact that it's still too early to render any kind of definitive verdict on him, here's my thoughts on him thus far. While he clearly has the most tricked out lightsaber ever wielded by either a Sith or Jedi, he seems to come up very short in other areas. For instance, his force shield appears to be non-existant as shown in the first encounter with him. Kanan was able to slam him into a ceiling and pin him there and he's a novice Force user. I can see either Darth Vader or Malgus easily toss him around like a toy. Aside from his Saber throw and a couple of other examples of telekinesis, his offensive powers seem rather lacking as well. Also, his dueling abilities seem intermediate at best, while he continues to best Kanan in short duels, that doesn't say much. With the skill level (or lack there of) demonstrated by Kanan, most of the characters shown in these matchups would have hacked him to pieces in 5-10 seconds, tops. That the Inquisitor hasn't been able to do that says a lot. While I'm not the best expert, the Inquisitor appears to use Ataru, Jar-Kai, and a bit of Makashi in his duels. Kanan seems to use primarily Soresu and some Makashi.

I agree with Jensaari that Malgus doesn't only use form v, but also incorporates form three into his sequences. Therefore Malgus's defense would be much more efficient than this analysis gives him credit for.
It is notable that maul tanked lightning from a night sister who was nowhere near as masterful as a Sith Lord, so his lightning resistance is probably not as great as people claim.
Malgus has slain scores of Jedi, he has seen just about every trick in the book and it is hard to believe that maul would bring anything new to the table.
Maul has defeated opponents who may have trained in Lightsaber dueling, but were never really expecting a life or death situation, much less against a sith.
Maul is a consummate martial artist, but when you are realistic about his ability to handle force lightning and his lack of experience and consider Malgus's aforementioned use of form III, and scores of Jedi kills one sees that Malgus is much more likely to win than this video gives him credit for.
Also, why no saber staff? That thing is maul's trademark; in tcw he uses a single blade because he can't get a double. Give the guy what he wants!
Qui-Gon specifically trained to fight sith. Unlike Jedi order, he never thought that Sith were defeated fully. He was only defeated because he allowed himself to be led into place where he had nothing to fall back on. And he was little too old for so lengthy use of Ataru. Still he fought for good 15 minutes as an equal to Maul.
That being said Maul would lose to Malgus, perhaps not because of latter use of Form III (since it was shown to be lacking against Ven Zallow, and Juyo would be even harder for him to defend against), but because Malgus was a sith lord for years, where Maul's true teaching of Sith style started only after Plagueis death. So depending on a source somewhere between 0 to 2 days ;). And Yes Malgus was more proficient in Force Lightening than a Nightsister. While Malgus might have been surprised that a simple assassin was so skilled, he would kill Maul, though probably not in the way that Antoine describes it.

I agree. my biggest thing is that I don't believe Maul ever hit his true prime. had he not been defeated on Naboo and made it whole into the clone wars is about when he'd hit his prime I think. that's an additional 10 years (maybe a few more) of training and honing his skills.
Chris Laurence Maul is just a little toy of the Sidious, but Malgus once destroyed Jedi temple on Coruscant, he participated in the battle for recovering Korriban. He also was the emperor of his own New Empire. Also ancient sith and jedi were more powerful than the present ones.

Malgus's raw power and brutaly accurate strikes, allowed him to keep with faster duelists like Satele Shan and Ven Zallow, and also if you are talking pre-battle on Naboo fight, then he really doesn't have any feats whatsoever, that matters against someone like Malgus, and if you are talking post-naboo battle, then he's got a set of cybernetic legs, that if exploided is a grave weakness, that seriously breaks his pain tolerance, like seen in his duel with Sidious, overall Maul is the quicker duelist, but Malgus has been shown to keep up with faster duelists than himself in the past, so overall we are looking at speed vs precision, and overall I would say Malgus takes a comfortable win, but hey that's just my opinion
Zachary Desroches Well first off all unless you are talking legends Sidious, Sidious isn't the ultimate Sith, there are many Sith who either surpass him or are on equal playing field, but the reason why I chose this comparison is because Sidious used his force lightning against Maul at the end of their duel, clearly showing a weakness in his cybernetic legs, a weakness that Malgus would have been able to utilize

Maul was not as likely to fall for a gamesmanship feint as a jedi, unless the battle happened before the battle with Obi. Hubris was a learned lesson for him. He had the speed of a fast jedi master, especially tuned with the force (evidenced by his survival after being cut in half) and posessed few if any of the weeknesses used to kill Malgus' other victims. I think his tenacity and skill combined with his endurance woul beat the bulkier Malgus the same way he defeated Jin. Malgus' over aggression and over confidence would get him decapitated. If Malgus' force lightning was used, it would come immediately after that mistake.

I disagree with the verdict. I think Maul would've beaten Malgus. Because he's faster and more cunning than Malgus. Malgus relies too much on brute strength.
Nah, Malgus is a very smart fighter.
Malgus has a very tactical mind during fighting, and has defeated opponents who are faster and more nimble than him before (i.e. Satele Shan)

Just don't really see Maul winning, Malgus in his time fought the very best the Jedi had to offer and either won or at least almost won, Maul fought some tough guys but Jinn doesn't match up tp Windu or Yoda and Malgus would have actually defeated one of Yoda's predecessors if it had been one on one

I'm so glad that you actually made combat experience a factor. Not only was Darth Malgus war itself, as you put it, but Jedi and Sith were both far more skilled in combat back then, due to the fact that there were more of each. Fighting force users on a regular basis was part of their basic training... unlike the time period for Maul, where it would be simply glossed over by the Jedi due to their belief that the Sith were gone.
It is certainly a factor. But mostly to Knights, not so much to Masters.

Darth maul would just because he has extensive training. I mean if he was kicked in the face (and as you said he has a high pain tolerance) he would be quick and recollect himself and be back in the fight. He is a trained assassin!!! a broken nose would not render him from a battle. If he dies its because he underestimated his opponent not from taking to long to recover per say. I can see where Malgus could win against Darth Maul because of his strength he wields but he is slower than maul and maul has more training than any Sith that I can think of thus I think it is far more likely that maul would triumph. though this is my opinion of course
A broken nose would not take Maul out of a fight but it could distract him for Malgus' tactics.

I know the characters of Ben Skywalker and Jacen Solo are no longer canon though I get a strong feeling they may be in episode 7, these battles would be pretty cool regardless. I agree that Maul would get smashed by Malgus not just because he is one of my favorite Sith Lords but because Maul was not completely trained in the force and plus Malgus has far superior experience in battle and more dueled with his saber. In the battle with Shan it took a huge force of energy to defeat Malgus which Maul could not even generate like I said Maul is only an assassin while Malgus is a full blown Sith Lord with an army plus Malgus's brute force would kill Maul

I'd say that Maul is the better duelist, having trained hard his entire life and is more adept at using the dark side or hate, to fuel him in a more precise manner. Malgus is hard to block and will thrust at the right moment, which worked well against defensive Jedi, but I wouldn't say it would work well against Maul. Malgus could probably win through the force, in which Maul is trained against, like a non-force user would be, but the Force is like magic, giving the willing and knowledgeable much power, leaving the ignorant in defeat, but Malgus would probably be tempted to face Maul head on for the most part, which I think would be Malgus's downfall.

Juyo is chaotic but not as precise, Djem so is more precise but not as chaotic. Malgus also had a better knowledge of the force. Maul lost to a Padawan Malgus killed the best duelist of his time

Great video with lots of detail, though it seems clear that you've hugely underestimated (I'm assuming it's an underestimation, as if you've read all his EU and that's your overview of his force powers then I don't know what to say) the extent of Maul's force abilities/power, and just as everyone else seems to have done you've overlooked the fact that Maul is no longer immune to force lightning (or the pain derived from force lightning - it's not clear whether Maul literally just takes the pain or whether he was simply proficient in tutaminis prior to his metal legs) - everyone assumed that Maul could withstand Mighella's lightning but Sidious' was just too powerful, but what clearly has happened is that Maul's metal legs have effectively nullified his resistance and rather turned him into an amplifier - I appreciate the clear divide in power between Mighella and Sidious' force lighting, but nonetheless the divide between Maul's reaction simply wouldn't be that great. Also have you been reading SOD, because Maul is looking pretty badass at the moment, and it sounded like you'd accepted it was game over for him (I appreciate you're not a wizard and therefore couldn't have known what was going to happen to him in SOD, but just wondering because you seem fairly positive Sidious ended him). Basically I'd say Maul would hands down win this one; Malgus is his ideal enemy. Every move Malgus made Maul would be a step ahead with his ludicrous speed (close to equal of that of Sidious!!), Maul is hands down the better physical combatant (one of Malgus' strengths to fall back on) and the only way Malgus could possibly have won this once upon a time would be back before Maul's sobering lesson about overconfidence and rashness (ie getting sliced in 2), back then Malgus would've been able to lull him into a sense of a false upper hand and then strike, but Maul wouldn't fall for that now. Despite Malgus arguably being the more powerful of the two, Maul is literally the perfect opposition for Malgus (IMO).
Yeah this was a consideration of Maul before SoD. I didn't think to consider his metal legs and their conduction, very good point. But that only gives another point to Malgus.
However, I do agree Maul would win by way of speed. Like I said before, I literally gave Maul the win at a point until I changed my mind last minute because of Malgus' advance combat experience over Maul. However, with SoD continuing and from what I've seen of it, it might be Maul with a more decisive win.
I really don't mind either one of them winning, the choice I made in the video was just the one I fell back on at the last minute. I really do think they are a split 5/10.
The reason I initially did not give it to Maul is because Malgus has exhibited skill against speed, but of course, he never fought someone comparable to Sidious. The fastest person Malgus probably fought was Aryn Leneer, and he had troubles with her. However, Maul's speed feat against Sidious came at the expense of his rage, due to his brother's death. Still though, very good point.

sarah holt Maul is without a doubt more physically powerful than Malgus, Maul has far more physical combat prowess (in terms of sheer speed, power and technique), he is his equal in terms of pain resistance and far surpasses him for endurance and stamina, is easily the faster and more powerful combatant as a result of his ridiculous speed and is in no way outmatched for force powers; Maul is proficient in force scream, choke, saber throw, dun moch and force push to an extent that allowed him to chuck Kenobi around like a rag-doll (and lift an entire shuttle). Maul is as adaptable as they come able to effortlessly go from Juyo to Niman to Jar'kai (his mastery of Jar'kai was even complemented on by Plagueis), he showed this perfectly against Sidious. There absolutely no way the fact that Malgus is a 'Tank' would help him any more than simply delaying Maul from killing him by a few seconds (if he's lucky). Look at Maul's key attributes and look at the enemies who have caused the most problems for Malgus... Maul is faster than anyone Malgus has ever fought by a long way, and wouldn't be falling for the little tricks he has used to deal with faster combatants who cause him problems. I'm not saying Malgus is a pushover, but he simply isn't capable of dealing with a combatant like Maul in a fair 1v1.

I agree, Maul is epic and very tough and skilled. However, Palpatine is FAR superior, defeating even the great Yoda. Yes, Maul MAY be able to match the listed Jedi with a lightsaber (though doubtfully for long), but if ANY of them used their force abilities, Maul looses.

A was watching another video like this one and one person had more edges on a certain one but the other guy had more edges on better things and I thought that makes no sense. so I much prefer watching your videos to other peoples If that makes sense
Oscar Phillips It's not impossible for one combatant to have all the edges and the other wins. It could have almost happened with Obi-Wan vs Malgus if Obi-Wan could find something within the environment use against Malgus. Obi-Wan was keen on being less skilled than his opponents but ultimately being the victor through superior tactical ingenuity.

Malgus was among the most powerful Sith when they were at their height of power. Regardless of how powerful Maul seemed, he is simply out classed. Don't get me wrong Maul was the best part of Phantom Menace and a badass, but Malgus is a monster.
