Apologies for the reupload, I had an issue with rendering in the original video.
I record the raw footage at 4K so that I can crop and zoom without losing quality and for some reason the opening video clip of the original file showed the 4K size instead.
Enjoy the video and thanks for watching!
No worries spawn wave!
Oohhh. I was wondering. Couldn't find this clip again. I thought I was going insane 😂
This was the video i was waiting for.
Many thanks.
Does the Southbridge has any cooling by touching the frame?
It is all good. I thought that maybe it was breaking embargo and that was supposed to be later or something.
I was a fan of the EXTREME CLOSUP at the beginning 😂.

@@atgwiuz yeah exactly....one x was more powerful than PS4 pro right? So clearly good hardware alone isn’t the issue and never was.
I am a PlayStation guy and I find this fascinating. I like how every internal part fits proportionally inside the casing. Electrical engineering is interesting...

Classic im a playstation guy...
Like doesnt matter which one you prefer. Everyone can appreciate the innards and the ingenuity that went behind the creation.
We all techie guys will enjoy this the same, imho.
Microsoft has more expensive parts that's why the ps5 is big due to cost cutting for cooling
I like how it's easy to disassemble for the simple things, like cleaning the fan or removing dust from the vents, but harder for things that could ruin your console: essentially allows anyone to do it without feeling like they are going to mess up 😅
I think the series X fan just pulls out by itself for easy cleaning? Not positive.
@@soap4797no, of course not, but it’s one plug and a couple screws. With videos like this dudes, the hardware and follow-along is capable by the average customer to clean their hardware, and I agree that the more complex shit is hard to access on purpose
Thank you for making this video. They’ve come a long way from the red ring of death days.
The engineering behind this console is pretty impressive, i also like how Microsoft is going for a more modern design similar to NZXT cases.
You call a shoe box modern? Come on dude. Shit looks terrible.... I prefer the 360 design tbh.
@@El_T1pico Its minimalistic. I greatly prefer a minimalist design over a flashy one.
@@El_T1pico it is modern, considering how small and compact it is. the 360 had a lot of empty space in it, with its PSU on the outside. The 360 is just flashy on the outside, with traditional large one piece motherboard inside. Nowadays, minimalism and utilitarianism design is considered modern and progressive.
i guess its as the saying goes, dont judge a book by its cover. its what is inside that counts.
@@El_T1pico exactly you “prefer”, congratulations people have preferences
@@El_T1pico. It doesn't look like a Shoe Box. It looks like a modern PC tower that has this Alienware like design to it. I like the design. Saying the 360 design is better is your opinion. The 360 compared to this is in a different world when it comes to power. So there was no way that this was fitting in a 360 shell.
Not gonna lie. That was an IMPRESSIVE hardware teardown of the Seriex X. I was flawlessly impressed by the dev team at Microsoft on the architecture and craftsmanship of this machine. Well done Microsoft 👏 👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥
I wholeheartedly agree. Same here, very impressed. Everything seems to fit so well and is so thought out. I liked seeing lots of metal and quality engineering.
Also it seemed very modular and that reparability will be good on this thing should something in particular break down. No glue anywhere too. Just awesome.
They got help from Surface Team. And they are indeed very good Hardware Designer

I love how they did the same thing they did with the 360 but this time they did it slow and smart. They jammed all that tech in that rectangular box but this time they thought it through. Instead of thinking about trying to beat Sony out to stores, they actually are seriously competing against the PS5 with how they designed this. I really want one!! I am not leaving Sony, but it’s worth having both!! 🤔
This is how they thought the 360 would be back in the day. Good work Microsoft!! 👏👏👏🙌
The engineering behind the series x is incredible. Just looking at the actual board makes you see the qualty, very good.

This looks like a really logical, beautiful form factor. I am reminded of a Power Mac G5/BTX style in the elements, especially with the fans and heatsinks. Quite thoughtful. Microsoft is really stepping up their game.
I love these teardown videos, really amazing to see the tech designs and how far things have advanced.
This design would easily allow them to reuse the chassis on higher end versions of the console. It would be as simple as putting a different board in it.
Im sure they already have plans for that
Probably have plans to increase heatsink and maybe a double fan to blow fan up and out quickly aswel
If you can break it that's why sony and Microsoft try to hide the scrow and so stupid people don't have to mod there consoles and get banned and yes you can get banned from nodded consoles and if you're consoles do over heat never take a part a console use a air think to clear out the dust
Exactly.
@@jonathanoxlade4252 I don't think so. They make components in bulk so any change means re configuring the factories. They likely would bring out an upgraded form once technology has advanced and they have developed it further so that the existing cooling is enough for better hardware.
With these systems though I can actually can see them bringing out cheaper versions. That they can reduce the heat capacity enough to shrink the heatsink and fan and use less quality components. Also just make them smaller so that more can fit into a store or into a truck. Almost every successful console has a version like that. Wii mini, NES top loader, PS3 superslim, PS2 slim, Genesis m2 and so forth.
I think we've all been looking forward to this video for some time. It did not disappoint.

Not that PS5 looks bad, it's just a different design philosophy. The Xbox blends into your setup, the PS5 screams at you to look at it. Both will find their niches

I disagree on the last words. It's fairly easy to take the Series X apart. Follow a good instruction and keep your screws organized and nothing can go wrong. Much easier than the Xbox 360 for example. MS really did a great job with designing this console. Even as a PC builder Im impressed by the chosen eletrical components, the thick pcbs, the amount of aluminum(middle plate) as well of copper(vapor chamber). I counted 15 vrm phases which is huge and almost overkill for a circa 280 watt tdp device, but helps the console to be very power efficient. In contrast Sony uses an 8 phase design for the PS5.
I'm here to rewatch the video again. :")

The photo documentation and screw-grouping tips at 17:15 are great. It's easy to lose track of things in unfamiliar hardware. I recommend taking extra care whenever multiple screw lengths are used. Depending on the particular hardware, extra photos of screws near their corresponding holes may do the trick, but you can also stick them through paper to keep them arranged and prevent them from rolling around or otherwise getting separated. If the screws are too thick and/or flat to push through the paper easily just use a tack or a staple to make a small hole first.
