    Regarding the heavy amount of thermal paste I used...it was at least partially a joke. I knew I was putting too much in, and did so because I was handing this project back to Steve at TronicsFix who has a long running joke with his community regarding the perfect amount of thermal paste. Sometimes jokes hit. Sometimes they don't.

    • @mbradfield53
      @mbradfield53 3 месяца назад +34

      Saying that, I was watching an old video where Steve left a cockroach in a console that he gave u to clean after he fixed it, so I'd call it pay back 😜😜😂😂😂😂😂

    • @hmello3250
      @hmello3250 3 месяца назад +9

      there is no such thing as too much thermal paste. steve from gamer nexus proved that a long time ago. when dealing with a bare die like that you better put too much rather than not enough so you won't get a 110c hotspot.

    • @halcyoncmdr4324
      @halcyoncmdr4324 3 месяца назад +9

      @@hmello3250 Just to clarify, as long as you are using a non-conductive thermal paste there is absolutely no downside, it will just squish out the side and make a mess for the next time you open it up to clean or reapply paste, but it won't hurt anything and won't affect thermals. However, while most are, not all pastes are non-conductive. If you get those into any of the surface mounted components around the die you'll have a bad day.

    • @Shinquapin
      @Shinquapin 3 месяца назад +4

      Lol, I figured the thermal paste was a joke, and I got a good laugh out of it. Steve would probably rate it 3/10

    I'm glad this new of a system can still be disassembled and cleaned without bricking the console. I honestly thought Microsoft or Sony would've put something like required security code unique to a system's serial number to ensure repairs or cleaning jobs couldn't happen but it hasn't happened yet, and I hope they don't even consider doing something like that in the future.

    Great video.. but Omg... waay too much thermal paste.. The rule is.. No more than a garden pea sized amount. or you risk it pooling and creating an uneven surface and poor seal, and it could also leak out when it heats up and could possibly cause a short between 2 points.. but the rest is good information.. Thanks
