The HP Z2 G4 SFF would be a much better option that would have solved some of your issues here. No need to cut anything to fit any LP GPU, has more NVMe m.2 slots, has a better power supply... and it actually has USB3 ports on the rear. It also costs a similar amount of money. There are several auctions on eBay right now for $67, with i5 9500's and 16GB of RAM. As for the GPU, this only confirms what I've been telling people, the BIOS mod is not worth it to run Arc... just be patient and grab a 1650 in an auction for around $100 - $120 instead.
It sucks that the value proposition of arc is destroyed on OEM pcs like this. Also kind of crazy how expensive these low profile cards are, it almost defeats the whole purpose of going with an OEM pc to save money. I love the idea of a low power, low profile machine, but it sucks that the price to performance is so bad on them. Love your reccomendation of the Z2 G4 though, it's crazy that we can get a 9th gen i5 for so cheap.
@@spoobspoob2270 Absolutely. I don't know why that decision was made, or if they didn't have an option, but they really lost a good portion of the market that would have loved a less expensive option... the OEM gaming PC crowd. It's such a missed opportunity. As for LP cards, I get why they're so expensive... it's just a super niche market. As such, they are just very low production, and thus they tend to be more expensive. I was very surprised that the 4060 LP was the same price as the full height cards. Granted, the 4060 was over priced to begin with. I really do like the Z2 series. I have a G4 SFF as one of my personal systems and I do like the OEM SFF systems, despite the cost involved. They also have a tower system, which uses the same board, but has room for just about any GPU and comes with a 500 watt or a 650 watt power supply. I really do think people are sleeping on these. I've been buying them and flipping them as gaming PC's and they're a hell of a deal.
@@TheGameBench wow, that power supply is a hell of a steal for the Z2, you could get something like an rx580 and still be fine on wattage! I've always thought that the 580 was a no-go on OEM systems since they never include a good enough PSU, which was a shame since it's 1060 levels of performance for about 1/2 to 2/3 the price. It's so fun to flip these PCs and configure them, it's satisfying to give people proper performing hardware for cheap instead of whatever crap is being sold on Amazon with anemic specs XD
@@spoobspoob2270 I mean... the 500 watt has an 8-pin and a 6-pin. I've been tossing RTX 3060 12GB in them. All in, they're costing me $400 to $500 to put together with an i7 8700, 32GB of RAM a 1TB NVMe drive and a 1TB HDD. The 500 watt PSU would def be good for more that a 180 watt GPU. Just got one with a i7 9700K and the 650 watt PSU. Thinking I'll throw a 3080 in it.
That model I believe can also have a handle drilled to the top if the battery is on the bottom I did this to mine and I'm able to comfortably pick it up and bring it to friends houses. The hardware upgrades I did was a 4060 for the GPU in a sound card x-fi forte with a pcie extension cable for some odd reason Lenovo decided not to add an extra pcie slot on the bottom so I tucked the pcie extension cable underneath the video card and routed it to the spot where one would be. I also had to make room for that by cutting and using metal snips to cut out of the cage that folds over in that unit. But because of having a GPU in that area I wanted more airflow so I ended up using a Dremel with a cutting blade on it like your friend did in the video and cut out a window on the side panel and used decorative metal sheets from home Depot that had Vents you can duct tape the vents to the panel or use some J-B weld.
Love how you're taking care of your health and bringing awareness of it to others, back pain is the main issue from sit down jobs, even with a 1500 dollar herman miller if u sit all day you WILL get back pain from not having activity.

I remember when those Intel graphics cards came out they were too much at the time for such low performance, but I could totally see it being reasonable in a older computer at a hundred bucks. Sometimes it just doesn't make sense how all of those things can go together and be equivalent to an Xbox... But I'm glad you did it and it gives me confidence in doing it myself
Man as a brand new PC RUclipsr, I would love to do a build off with you on paper and maybe one day in person but I am pretty sure for $250 or the $299 that the series S cost I could build a much better small form factor
For my series s killer build i bought a 3050 6gb low profile. It's only $170-180. Get a an older sff and slap this in. It should total you $250 or so but it is worth it. A380 is not bad its just if bios have no Rebar than it will limit performance.
I love those Lenovo business PCs man what a great platform to start from those things are rock solid and you could probably shoot that thing out of a cannon and still hook up to it and use it
You forgot to add that you needed a PhD engineer in order to help you mod the case. Which will be THE hardest part for most of your fanbase. It is a very interesting concept, however the sheer greed of these mainstream companies are having them lockdown PCs that should never need to be.

I think the best use for a pc like this, is as emulatin center on the tv. Install all Emulators you like, even PS 2 and 3 , Xbox 360 etc and play all the good old games in High res. and you have a little super console.
bought one last year, upgraded to QN8J cpu with 64G ram, served me well as a little promox server, the fan can be noisy in summer though, it never stop yelling when my room temperature got 35℃
I've been through most of these steps with different systems. At first I was yelling along about ReBar and how OEM systems have pretty much guaranteed BIOS locks in place (checksums) to avoid even booting hardware flashed BIOSes. Until the very end I was yelling "that won't work" at every step. I'm surprised Lenovo doesn't lock via checksum. For HP and Dell, I can almost guarantee they won't boot with a hardware flashed BIOS because it expects a certain checksum. It'll just give you a beautiful series of beeps.
Calling it now. Series S is going to be great as a plug and play 1080P gaming machine pulling in great performance in a smaller package. The portability can't be beat nor can the power consumption. The PC will keep up in gaming performance and perhaps even exceed depending on game title, and available upscale technologies. The PC will prove to have so much more utility in software availability and video encoding. The PC of these specs would be great for video editing, programming, music production, small time server utility (Plex server/ file or printer server) There's a lot of pros and cons to each, and I think the ThinkCentre was a perfect pick with Arc GPU

I love your work man, I really enjoyed this video and I'm looking forward to seeing the comparison between this pc and the Series S.
Thanks!
You can use the keyboard, mouse and browser to do SNS, shopping, watching videos, and you can also use the browser version of Word and PowerPoint. If you don't do deep creative work such as 3D design, composing, or complex video editing, I recommend the Xbox.
PC building man specially on an extreme budget of stressful even when I'm not the one doing it and I'm watching other people do it, but your channel is so peaceful and relaxing like I seriously think you need to change it to peaceful PC or Bob Ross something PC building because bro you take the stress out of it and it's actually very enjoying watching you work on PCs
I wasn't expecting this. Very interesting.
@@TheGameBench you're right haha, I didn't even think about that 🤣
That's actually a killer system for the money!
Thanks for showcasing the issues with the bios flashing, it's so satisfying to see it finally working!
The Series S is a dope machine for casual play, I have it hooked up in the bedroom. It's also an emulation beast.
Your voice is so calming, its so so good to just listen to.
PS5 pro just gave you a slam dunk video Oz, should be pretty easy to cook with such an inflated price. Love the vids and your tinkering, keep it up!
Awesome video, always enjoy seeing you do these projects!
As a hopeful up and coming techie. Watching your videos are super fun and I learn something new in every video.
Thank you Oz
Been playing around with computers since 2007 but this is the first time ive heard about Rebar and the fps gainz. Subbed.
Love how you're taking care of your health and bringing awareness of it to others, back pain is the main issue from sit down jobs, even with a 1500 dollar herman miller if u sit all day you WILL get back pain from not having activity.
Perfect video rn
I was gonna build a PC but now I am just gonna do this with low profile GPU preferably 3050
Bro this was quality content! I've wondered if anyone found a workaround for Re-bar. Thanks for going the extra mile on this one 😁
Oh wow that's pretty cool, im actually building in an hp sff pc and was thinking about an arc gpu but the resizable bar stopped me from going that route, cool that you got it to work
Love these SFF workstations. So much more useful and versatile than a console.
That's a good video. learning stuff is what I want!!
only just stumbled across your channel. subbed with great interest. i really dig the vibe.
your mic and voice is so good its like the perfect asmr
keep it up man
this guy is so chill gained a sub
I'm happy to know that trainwell has helped you with those physical problems, you are really an example to follow, I love your videos and your dedication to them.
This is a great RUclips channel and i hope it grows into something big
I have the same model but just using a g5400, but I'll follow what you did as I'm gonna be using it for school, for some 3D and Mostly Adobe.
Thanks for this Oz!
Hey... Been looking to build a cheap pc to use with my old parts - thanks a lot for this vid! Was eyeing these Lenovos haha
I still don't understand how there are so many clean refurbished compuers, yes spelled right... compuers available. Everytime I've bought a refurbished computer it has problems even after refurbishment. Your channel is awesome. I love your lectures and demos. Thank you for producing, taping, editing and sharing. Great channel.
A lot of times refurbish just means a wipedown and maybe some minor hardware changes
Good job for the BIOS work! That programmer will come in handy when it comes to fixing bricked motherboards or video cards.
Major props for all the work you did to flash that BIOS.
well done !!
I have down some crazy things with computers in my time... but flashing an hacked bios... wow !!
Thanks God, you had an happy ending !!
Brilliant video! Great job.
Thanks for putting up this video, I was planning on doing the very same thing with a Fujitsu office PC and an ARC 310. You might wanna try making a windows UEFI install, it also boosts those intel GPUs performance on top of what you get with resizable bar enabling.
This channel is amazing, subscribed
idea that popped in my head, installing chimeraOs on the pc would make it (software wise) even more like an equivalent of a console. Great video ^^
First time I've seen your videos. Awesome. Subbed
you can always change the power supply if you get an adapter also but i think it takes the front ports out
The Xbox Series X 512GB model is officially priced at $299.99 on the Xbox website and $298.99 at Walmart. Therefore, Acearty23 is correct; with an additional $100, one could opt for a better GPU and CPU or a better GPU or CPU and more RAM.
It's not as complicated as the video suggests; the complexity was likely added for entertainment. This is a solid option for $197.
Edit: He had an even larger budget. The Xbox Series S 1TB Carbon Black or the (Robot White releasing on October 15, 2024) is priced at $349.99. With that amount, you could easily build a powerful system.
thanks to this video, i enable rebar for my rx 5700, because i didnt know my b460m motherboard had that feature, very thanks!!
Glad you decided to upgrade your body young pup! I look forward to seeing you for many years 😊
The light is back in your eyes too! Good job getting in better shape!
Awesome vid. Looked impossible but you got it working!
Love this channel!
love the vids man keep it up forever PLEASE
amazing video expecially the part where u explain that there is a program for resizable bar for motherboard that doesnt have it, i needed it so bad and i didnt know that this program exists XD thanks
You are a legend my friend
I remember when those Intel graphics cards came out they were too much at the time for such low performance, but I could totally see it being reasonable in a older computer at a hundred bucks.
Sometimes it just doesn't make sense how all of those things can go together and be equivalent to an Xbox... But I'm glad you did it and it gives me confidence in doing it myself
Man as a brand new PC RUclipsr, I would love to do a build off with you on paper and maybe one day in person but I am pretty sure for $250 or the $299 that the series S cost I could build a much better small form factor
The Thumbs up with sound effect made the video for me. Please do more of that in future videos :)
For my series s killer build i bought a 3050 6gb low profile. It's only $170-180. Get a an older sff and slap this in. It should total you $250 or so but it is worth it. A380 is not bad its just if bios have no Rebar than it will limit performance.
“You smell poor stop trying” I’m crying 😅 great video as always!
Gj man... amazing video.. lifetime sub earned right there
Amazing work 👏
Holy shit he can just do a hand stand. Been trying to get back at my health too Oz. Keep up the good work
Amazing video as always!
So rad. Keep it up.
Thank you Doc 🙌
I wanna know what mic this is lol sounds really good!
I love those Lenovo business PCs man what a great platform to start from those things are rock solid and you could probably shoot that thing out of a cannon and still hook up to it and use it
Awesome video Ozi
Good job man👍🏽
You forgot to add that you needed a PhD engineer in order to help you mod the case. Which will be THE hardest part for most of your fanbase. It is a very interesting concept, however the sheer greed of these mainstream companies are having them lockdown PCs that should never need to be.
The series s is $300 broski, you still had $100 left in the budget 🔥
It’s $200 used $250 new

2:10 bro completely forgot about the RTX 3050 6gb
I think the best use for a pc like this, is as emulatin center on the tv. Install all Emulators you like, even PS 2 and 3 , Xbox 360 etc and play all the good old games in High res. and you have a little super console.
Awesome channel and content!
bought one last year, upgraded to QN8J cpu with 64G ram, served me well as a little promox server, the fan can be noisy in summer though, it never stop yelling when my room temperature got 35℃
You little hacker you 😁 I didn't know you could enable rebar on supposedly non-rebar gen systems. Great video!!
It's a good thing you don't charge hourly for these videos lol. As always, we surely appreciate ya, great video Oz!
Good video. I think a used gtx 1080 on marketplace would’ve been a good gpu
Amazing stuff! Keep it coming! Next: PS5 PRO price but gaming PC pls :D
@OzTalksHW Thanks for sharing the possibility to copy and reflash bios. I did not know this is a possibility for the comen person and that the technology is so cheap
amazing video bro
