- Today's video is of both LMS Black Five 4-6-0 44871 and SR Battle of Britain Class Light Pacific 4-6-2 34067 Tangmere. 44871 was hauling RYTC's "The White Rose" from London Kings Cross to York via Hertford, Peterborough, Newark Northgate and Doncaster, whilst 34067 was hauling Pathfinder Tours' "The Settle & Carlisle Winter Express" from Bristol Temple Meads to Carlisle, diesel hauled through Birmingham New Street and up the WCML as far as Carnforth, where 34067 took the train up to Carlisle via Oxenholme and returned along the S&C and via Blackurn to Preston where the tour continued back to Bristol via the WCML. I had some slight issues planning this weekend at first because I wanted to do it as cheaply as possible yet cover so much ground. After a bit of intense planning and the help of my secondary planner, I managed to find some cheap advance singles to Blackburn which allowed me to do both.
I set out southwards from my local this morning on an at 06:53, alighting in York for a bit of free time before taking the Coastliner (840/843) bus to Colton. Here I waited for around 90 minutes whilst 44871 travelled northwards. Eventually the sound of her exhaust was faintly audible and she came racing by in the gorgeous sunshine. Next, I took another Coastliner bus down to Leeds, then taking a Northern 195 across to Blackburn, then alighting and changing for the 8 minute journey to Pleasington. I'd intended to do Pleasington a few weeks ago but was unable to, so seeing 34067 making some noise hauling the BR blue & grey stock up towards Preston was a real treat! Thank you for my company at Pleasington also. After this I headed back to Blackburn, retracing my steps home.
Thank you as always to those I met, the tour operators and promoters and both crews and locomotives! Thank you also to Northern, XC, LNER and the Coastliner bus for getting me around today. Hopefully you enjoy as I did!
Dan, Great captures. Regards, John
Thank you very much John, I'm very glad you enjoyed them both! Regards, Dan
Nice one Dan I’ve caught that tour with the 47 at the front and the 57 at the back at stoke works junction earlier today
Thank you mate and I'm glad you got to see that. Regards, Dan
Fun, fun and more fun. Right up my alley.
Thank you very much, I'm glad you enjoyed! Regards, Dan
Great video! Well done for getting both of them!
Thanks very much! 😀 Regards, Dan
Nicely done, good to see the black 5 on the ECML at Colton. I was at York and got some nice photos in beautiful light. Unfortunately clouded in not long before the return time. You had your work cut out going for 34067 as well. Thanks for showing.
Thank you very much! The lighting was fantastic, rather surprising for a February but it was a beautiful day. And yes, it was a tough one to plan both lol! Regards, Dan
Great Shots mate, the shot of 34067 at speed is great and 44871 at Colton was great too caught that well. Regards Daniel
Thank you very much mate! I've wanted to film at Colton for a very long time. Regards, Dan
1:38 look at that Anglia coach I noticed that there’s a vandalise on the side of the coach earlier on
Indeed there was Scott, I actually believe that was done overnight in Bristol because my mate filmed the stock working the night before and it wasn't vandalised. Regards, Dan

@@crunchynutsteamfilms5043yeah I don’t mind the black 5 doing that tour because it brings back memories of steam of the west coast mainline
