  • LNER A4 Class loco no. 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley made a much anticipated return to Devon whilst the Red Arrows were in action at the Teignmouth Airshow. The first tour was the English Riviera Express to Paignton hauled by Sir Nigel Gresley and with the weather looking mixed, I was hoping for some good form from the A4, and she didn't disappoint.
I've got three shots of Sir Nigel Gresley the first one was at Whiteball Summit near Burlescombe as Sir Nigel Gresley stormed up Whiteball Bank without any trouble, sounding amazing with a lovely A4 whistle being the added bonus. The next shot took me along the Teign Estuary at Combeinteignhead just before Teignmouth to see the A4 accelerating towards Newton Abbot along the brilliant Teign Estuary. It was by far my best shot of the day, as the engine can be seen from a distance and could be seen for a while. I'll go back there again no doubt about that. My final shot was at Noss Marina near Kingswear to see Sir Nigel Gresley climbing up Churston Bank towards Paignton through the woods as her amazing A4 exhaust chatter echoed through.
The bonus of the day was of course, The Red Arrows taking part in the Teignmouth Airshow and they appeared half an hour after Sir Nigel Gresley at Teignmouth, they arrived just after 1pm along the Teign Estuary which was lovely and they'll be seen from the distance towards the sea wall and promenade. I decided to stay at the same spot and get a couple of shots of the Red Arrows doing their usual formations and routines.
I hope you enjoy the video. If you love the video. Leave a like, make a comment on what you thought about it, and subscribe to support me creating more upcoming steam train content from Full Steam Ahead. Enjoy.

Excellent video, it is not easy trying to film the Red Arrows and to keep them in the centre of the frame. Great to see Sir Nigel Gresley with the refurbished Mk1s that are almost a new build as they were stripped down to the chassis with new crash ends added as well as new bogies.

That was fabulous long-distance photography!! Thank you. I see the red arrows often training over my house in Lincoln, and we can become blase, but you've captured them so well ..........

Nice catch - with more visible 'exhaust' from the Hawks than SNG!

That's because the Hawks are actually moving under their own power instead of being pushed around by an external power source...

Great idea to have trains AND planes in one video!! Should have had a few boats, then you would have had "Trains And Boats And Planes" title of old song by Burt Bacharach! Anyway a great big LIKE!!! 😊😊😊😊

I know they have different fuels and loadings but isn't it good to see efficient fueling compared to some of the foreign videos that we can see.

First Dawlish Airshow, and now Teignmouth Airshow? They really are spoiled down there

Though I think both shows are hanging by a thread financially (as is Bournemouth)
