Fun fact. The Count is based on an old vampire myth that, if you were being chased by a vampire, all you had to do was throw rice on the ground, and the vampire would have to stop and count all of the grains on the floor. Not sure if it would stop them completely considering superhuman motor skills, but hey it gave you a few seconds.

Apparently in Greek (for the record, I read about this 2 years ago), it is believed that Vampires are obsessed with counting... So you can fasten a net above your outside door (not to kill the vampire, but to get the hell out while the vampire is counting the knots in the net)

Ir just occurred to me that the 'hop' mode they're playing in this game is a reference to the chinese hopping vampire JIangshi. That's a bizarre but amazing reference they put in.
I think that's a random thing they put in for no rhyme or reason.
It’s more likely they thought moving and jumping at the same time was considered too difficult for 5 yr olds.

For a Sesame Street game, this had some pretty interesting things on. Specifically, secret places where crouching and pressing A would send you to either a hidden bonus games or a place to skip levels. Funny enough, one of them was in the bird bath mentioned in the video. Also, some of the things you could climb on could be unexpected, like a brontosaurus' neck.
Of course, you could only do this if you chose "Run" instead of "Hop" at the begining.
Since this is a one-off, would it be "The Final Countdown"?

This is the best synthesized voice in the entire NES library, mainly because nobody else was willing to dedicate that much memory resources to just the voice sample.

After playing Punch-Out the past few days and them losing a few times and then starting to play this game I think the Grumps misunderstood the term "Out for the Count"

So...the target audience were preschoolers and toddlers, I'm guess. Motor skills...not quite the best. And the first thing you do is make them choose between hopping or walking. ...because that's what that is. It's not running. Seems...a bit out of place.
That said...the voice was amazing for a NES game. A little tinny, sure, but it was clear what he was saying. Must have been where all the budget went.

So they won't be finishing Link to the Past, Emerald, Sonic '06, or any of the other ones that Jon had been in. If anything, they might start a new one with Link to the Past.
But hey, there's always the chance that Danny will play A Link Between Worlds. Might be awkward in the recording process, but he said he wanted to record it on some of the episodes of Mario 64.
