- TheAppleSource presents Mac How To #1. Sometimes you will need to reinstall Lion, if you're unlucky. Other times you may just wish to do a reinstall to clean out your machine and try and speed everything up. This video covers the install process. A video demonstrating how to make the Lion install USB drive will soon be uploaded to accompany this.

TheAppleSourceHowTos::::::Question i have a macbook pro 13" mid 2012 came with Yosemite,but also includes Lion.well i tried to do a internet recovery,and it did not want to install lion.But when i took it to the apple store for a bar appointment,told them the situation and they hooked it up to who knows what i didn't ask cuz of excitement and for sure Lion pop up to install and it did so almost quik.So i ask why cant i do it from home??....i have good internet is it cuz ethernet or cuz its threw apple and only they have access,then why mention that Loin comes included,that's one of the many reasons i hate apple,just going to have to stick with windows no boundaries ...Apple bullshits to much and for paying that much for my macbbok pro dam.......But i have a USB with Mavericks,can i just do a clean install like that???i mean im on mavericks now.oh another Question why did you pick to erase 1 TB instead of Macintosh HD????? i ask cuz other videos and most pick the bottom one which is macintosh HD....just wondering what are the differences?????????????,hope i to get a reply before i go and erase my HD.

when i restart the computer pressing the option key , it prompts me for a password.. basically i tried many combinations and its a image with a lock and place for a password... no idea what to do from there :(

Mine don’t work need install os mountain lion to access old iTunes 10.6.3 blue logo it’s showing question mark ❔ like there’s no hard drive in it 😭is there a way of getting back how it was before ?
I have tried to reinstall my software but when I get to the OS X Utilities it asks me for my iTunes details but when I give my details it keeps telling me iTunes is unavailable? What's the problem?

For older Macs this is what worked for me. I was getting the message “temporarily unavailable” when trying to install Lion OS onto a new SSD I installed on a used Mac mini. From completely off, i hit the power button, when the gong sounds I pressed command+alt/option+R at the same time. The globe appears for a couple minutes, then the apple logo (the Apple didn’t appear in previous attempts with the command+R reboot) then on the next screen was the familiar stuff from before, time machine, install OS, disk utility etc. I hit reinstall OS and this time it was prompting High Sierra instead of Lion. Clicked install and boom it installed no questions asked. Hope this helps someone.
THIS JUST WORKED FOR ME IT WAS PROMPTING LION AND FAILING I FOLLOWED YOUR INSTRUCTIONS AND IT PROMPTED CATALINA!!!! IF YOU ARE HAVING THE “FAILED TO DOWNLOAD ADDITIONAL PARTS” ERROR DO THIS!!!!!

@@Simran-ji2jn it was restarting it off and on for a couple days, I followed the instructions in this comment EXACTLY and it worked perfectly..... try to get it to show Catalina instead of Lion!!! If it prompts Lion you messed something up
