Great video and very helpful. I have a question though. Why does this happen in the first place? Since I cannot see the internal hard drive in the Disk Utility screen, this means I can assume that the drive itself has failed or the power cord he mentioned is broken?
Thank you for showing all of the options and not just the option that worked for you. I’ve done 3 options. Currently trying option inherent recovery mode. If this doesn’t work, you gave perfect instruction on another option. Thank you!
I had this issue with my MacBook. After running some tests and researching I realized it was an ssd problem which was weird because the ssd was never replaced and is oem. The ssd is sometimes not being detected but others times is.
None of these worked for me. I didn't see any startup disk or disk utility at all. Only the internet recovery option was visible. Clearly my Mac was unable to detect the hard drive at all. Turns out, the issue was with the transfer cable of the hard disk, not with the hard disk itself. Phew. Got a replacement HDD transfer cable off Amazon for 20dollars and it worked. No data loss and back to normal usage!
Glad you shared. Happy your up and running again with a new cable. It’s testing you tried this route. In most cases it’s either the hard disk that failed or the cable is faulty 👍

If I reinstall the operating system on my MacBook, rather than an external harddrive as you did in this video (is an external harddrive necessary for this?) will it wipe all my files and storage that I had on my MacBook????? Really would be grateful if you can answer this thanks! (I'm desperate)
I encountered this issue today. I was running a partitioned HD with Bootcamp, mostly running Windows. I tried many of your steps but did not try to the "nunclear" option of reinstalling MacOS, as I did not want to lose all my Windows data. I was able to get into Disk Utility and run First Aid, but I'm not sure if it helped or hurt. Eventually, after several restarts and holding Option, I saw the spinning globe icon and it asked me for a WiFi password. And finally, it just gave up and referred me to Apple Support. So, I pulled the SSD and ordered an enclosure. My main fear is losing all data, primarily that was in the Bootcamp Win. partition. Usually, in Disk Utility, I would see BOOTCAMP listed as a drive as Windows, but the last time I was in Disk Utility, I just saw one drive (Mac) listed BUT the file storage bar, show it full, so I'm hoping I can still access the data on another computer. I would like to hear your thoughts/advice.btw, I did reset the PRAM and NVRAM as well. Thanks!
Thank you for the video. I ahve entered into "disk utility", followed your steps (also plugged one external drive with MacOS Catalina) but when I try to erase the external unit (same to the one you have selected), it gives error message, in the details says "unmounting disk (-69888)" - Operation failed. Can you please help me?
First and foremost. Thanks for all the tips. I've tried everything but in the end, the installation failed. Do you know any other method or how can I do it differently?

Hi, When I do the Re-install Mac OS Option. No Disk images are shown (to select) to re-install Mac. I followed your video and understood that using the Disk Repair Utility we need to fix this part. Does this mean that my internal iMAC disk is corrupted / gone ?
Hi! What kind of harddrive are you using? Is it exFAT?

@@SmartPhotoVault yes I tried everything but I’m not using the original keyboard for the Mac because the original one broke
If I reinstall the operating system on my MacBook, rather than an external harddrive as you did in this video (is an external harddrive necessary for this?) will it wipe all my files and storage that I had on my MacBook????? Really would be grateful if you can answer this thanks! (I'm desperate)
My HD failed. I lost my files but had a back up to reinstall from. Yes you need to make a back up of your data before reinstalling OS
@@SmartPhotoVault thanks! How do I make a backup/recover the files if I cannot access the laptop itself?
Thanks!
Holy I have a Mac book air and the option button method worked thanks a lot I was wondering what excuse I could tell my parents if this did not work
Brilliant, happy for you. Thanks for sharing 🙏
Thank you so much! My MacBook Pro is working again. 😊
Thanks for feedback. Very happy to hear this helped you :)
Thank you. Finally I found that one may press option button alone to call disk select screen. Why the heck it is not written on apple web page.
Happy to help mate. Have a good day
Thank you for the video. I ahve entered into "disk utility", followed your steps (also plugged one external drive with MacOS Catalina) but when I try to erase the external unit (same to the one you have selected), it gives error message, in the details says "unmounting disk (-69888)" - Operation failed.
Can you please help me?
Can I use pen drive instead of hhd pls reply ???? Emergency help
First and foremost. Thanks for all the tips. I've tried everything but in the end, the installation failed. Do you know any other method or how can I do it differently?
EVery step, in the video. Otherwise its a cse of replacing the HD, or use an external HD as I did. Good luck my friend.
What if I can get all the backup downloaded and then before choosing language I just can’t control mouse or keyboard?

Hi. I don’t understand, you say « make sure it’s on Mac OS extended « . But everywhere else they say chose APFS for SSD ( some say it doesn’t matter what you chose).
