Thank you soooo much! I brought a iMac on clearance today for $150.00 and was told it just needed connected to my internet modem via ethernet to get it up and running. Of course that did not work and I was lost, I found your video and followed the steps and now my new iMac up and running! I can't say thank you enough !
If anybody finds this and has the same problem; your hardware is not necessarily broken. Try partitioning the hard drive using the disk utility tool and you should see your newly created partition and be able to install OS X on it.

Mine shows to pick internet after doing command + R but when I try to type an internet that doesn't show it doesn't let me type the password and freezes the laptop when trying to reset the MacBook it does show those options you showed so the methods don't show can you HELP, please!!

Thank you so much. I accidentally decreased volume in my drive and the mac cannot detect the drive. I was panicking and shut down the mac. Then when I restart it, it shows support and flashing folder. I did command r and it connects to the internet and restored the drive. Now I'm downloading the macOS high Sierra, the year I bought my mac. This saved my life.

I have a Mac mini 2007 and I've tried all of these methods but it still just comes to the question mark. I never even get to the bios. The hdd is clean (been in a HP pc before) and I wanted to install windows on it without luck (it doesn't detect my usb stick) so I tried installing mac 10.7 fresh with the exact same results but when I try with Linux it comes to the grub menu. So iso-file with linux works but iso with windows and dmg (mac iso) with mac does not work. I don't get it. This is my only apple pc, so I cannot copy from other hdds.
When i turn on the computer and hold alt/option key it only pops up a network connection and a internet recovery which when i try it only crashes and saids error 2003f
My issue was not solved with this video. When pressing "Alt/Option" key, I get the WiFi connection option, but not a booting drive option. So I try "Cmd+R", but the "Utilities" window does not come up; instead, the blinking folder with a question mark keeps coming up. I just can't get to the "Utilities" screen in any way. I'm stuck.

@@oletramekaf5603 So I just finished successfully repairing mine. The issue was with the transfer cable of the hard disk, not with the hard disk itself. Phew. Got a replacement HDD transfer cable off Amazon for 20dollars and it worked. No data loss. You should definitely try this out before taking it out for repair!

Same exact thing happened to me. I reinstall the OS as I had done ALL the other steps first. It took SEVERAL tries for that. Then FINALLY got it to work but now back to the ? mark.

When I start my Mac up it goes to a white screen than about 30 seconds later the folder with the question mark appears, tried the command r and that does nothing, anything else I can try?
Your disk drive cant boot or the mac OS is corrupted on it, install mac OS on a usb stick and it should boot straight to recovery/utility. This will probably only work if you erased your drive or formated it as APFS. Also try holding Alt instead of command R.

My Mac isn’t even letting me go into recovery mode. I just see the globe and “choose a network”. After I choose the network, the globe spins with a progress bar and then it gives me a globe with a alert sign. I have checked apple support but nothing is working. What should I do.

got this flashing folder icon CONSTANTLY while i was trying to upgrade my mid 2012 MacBook Pro to an SSD turns out on my one the SATA cable was fucked so got a new one now works perfectly

Nothing comes up at the screen, but a blank white screen with a cursor. That's where I ended up.
My Mac isn’t even letting me go into recovery mode. I just see the globe and “choose a network”. After I choose the network, the globe spins with a progress bar and then it gives me a globe with a alert sign. I have checked apple support but nothing is working. What should I do.
