  • With that first Crown Victoria front end parts install I left out the (banging ) camera fell and such .. With this video i finished up the inner and outter tie rod ends plus pitman arm and steering idler.. Not a expert by no means of the word.. I did this not to pay $650 ...

I did all this kind of stuff on my Mercedes E55 it has rack and pinion steering so inner ball joints were screwed into the ends of the steering rack. Such a b*sat*rd of a job as moisture had got in and corroded one in there and someone had tried the job before rounded out the flats for a spanner to go on. So gas torch and angle grinder to the rescue. One way ticket... You have to win the battle once you've resorted to those extremes. I won't forget that day in a hurry! Glad you work went relatively smoothly. I used mainly Mahle German made parts for mine. Same brand can be made in China... Some other parts were TRW. It's hard to trust one single brand these days with all this off shoring and outsourcing going on

Also, i screwed up the piston the pushed against the brake pads to stop the car(the piston is crack and needs to be replace)and i couldnt get it back on after screwing up the sway bar linkage. How do i compress the caliper to get it on and off?

I did my 98 too recently. This is the old design that goes back to the 70s and earlier. Still used on lots of big trucks.I prefer this type of suspension. Parallelogram steering. Bad BJs can pop out on these cars so now you are good for another 15 years. I installed all new moog parts and for a while the wheel had a bit of trouble returning to center, but it was very tight steering.
I needed a very heavy duty Pittman arm puller from Autozone. It locks the two arms. Used a 4' cheater to break it free.
After 2003 everything changed, Crown vic got the same suspension as a modern performance RWD car (Coilover).

Cheap parts can come back to bite in the ass, but keep them lubed you should be ok. 650 is fair I'm upstate NY albany they quoted 220 for pittman and 200 idler and 100 per tie rod at a dealer when I went for an alignment. I Did they work and then brought it back to align. Tie rods were seized in the sleeve had to do replace all. Ball joints labor $150 ish sounds right. If that work included an alignment its fair. If i couldn't fix my car I would buy new.
