    About 2 years ago I did a FULL suspension rebuild on my 1999 CV and my 1996 CV. Words cannot describe the tedious work that this involves. The second car was easier because I learned from my mistakes with the first. It is an enormous amount of work hence why the shops charge $1,000+ to do jobs like these, and they have lifts. Doing it all on the ground is on a whole different level. The ability to do this job WHILE explaining the process AND filming is remarkable. Good job bro. Excellent video. Liked and subscribed. Do more videos on these Panther cars.
    Side note: I now grease my ENTIRE suspension at every oil change to keeps all the parts lasting as long as possible. If you are watching this video - buy SERVICEABLE suspension parts so they won't where out as fast and grease them everytime your under the car.

    Hi Artistry Photography thanks for video. Very useful. I am onto my 7th Cr Vic/Gr Marquis and both my 95 as well as my 02 are in need.
    VIEWERS: here are a couple of very useful tips also...
    1 Sometimes grease nipples seize up or rust out; you may be able to replace grease nipple. They thread in/out standard direction right to tight left to loose.
    2 If your vehicle has no grease fittings on steering components you can still lubricate ball joints, tie rod ends etc as follows: buy a decent steel oil can, fill with GEAR OIL (80W90 hypoid gear oil) NOT MOTOR OIL. Poke 2 tiny holes in rubber boot surrounding component on either side then poke business end of oil can into holes, squirt some gear oil in behind boot. Motor oil will not last, gear oil WILL. Obviously this method is not as good as legitimate greasing but it helps enormously and is better than zero lubrication.
    3 If you decide to undertake your own repairs, NEVER get underneath a vehicle with only a jack supporting it. ALWAYS use stand(s) and chock wheels front and back. Once vehicle is elevated, try to rock it by hand BEFORE getting underneath to make sure it doesn't fall.
    Be safe everyone. Have fun. Cheers.

    It’s amazing how some will hear their car making noises for months and continue to drive it without having it looked at. These are usually the people you see broke down along the road and holding up rush hour traffic. Pure neglect. I have two crown Vic’s and I keep up with maintenance and whe I hear a noise I check it out so I don’t end up stranded on the side of the road like those who neglect their cars.

    Looks exactly like my 1999 forest green Mercury Grand Marquis. Only 115000 km but 24 years. Got lucky when the front right wheel collapsed in front of my driveway. Separated from socket. Took me 2 6 hrs shifts over 2 days to replace. Had the same press but no space for impact tool.
    Working in driveway now to replace driver side joint. Car up high but unlike passenger side unable to remove nut which is probably turning with stud. Once the rain stops will use jack on bottom of ball joint. If that doesn't work then I cut it . Thanks for video.

    Thanks for the walkthrough. Mine just broke this evening as I was backing into the drive. The XR-7 just groaned and that was the end of it. Now comes the long fix to get her back in shape. Sure the rest of the parts are in just as poor shape, and will need replaced as well. I should do the brakes while I'm at it. Great content. Much thanks.

    What do you think about putting AT-205 on sway bar boots and strut boots? The protective rubber cover I mean. It's a swelling additive that makes plastic/rubber stuff sort of swell a little so it doesn't get dry and cracked. Scotty Kilmer did a video on it.

    • @crazysexycool180
      @crazysexycool180  3 года назад +1

      i need to research the product.

      @@crazysexycool180 Here's the AT-205 stuff, I used it on my air hose that goes from the air filter box to the intake manifold and it made it much less brittle and prone to cracking. Hopefully this link works, skip to like 30 seconds into the video: ruclips.net/video/5FGPbSafSpI/видео.html

    Thank you for making this video! My '01 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor needs new lower ball joints (and top ones too, but I'm just gonna replace the whole upper control arms), but for the lowers I'm gonna just replace the ball joints.
    ... I just had a question... Since mine are still "intact" (but very sloppy and about to fail), will the trick you used of taking off the tie rods work, or will that only work if the ball joint is already totally broken/separated? I've seen some other videos where people take apart the caliper, but I'd rather not have to do that unless necessary. Thank you and God bless you.

    • @m.n.3490
      @m.n.3490 Год назад

      I tried taking just the tie rod end off, and the wheel assembly does not rotate as far as the it does in this video - because the bottom of the brake caliper hits the control arm.
      Also. there was not enough room to get the ball joint nut off with a socket/extension/impact wrench from the top, since the wheel assembly did not rotate back far enough, so the upper ball joint assembly prevents access (from the top).
      The fact that in this video the lower ball joint is already broken out, is what allows the control arm to fall down enough - to get the ball joint press to fit, and push the new ball joint in.
      Now, you might find another way to get the lower ball joint nut off (wrench, shorter socket with braker bar, etc,), and then maybe you could get the ball joint out with the brake caliper in place, I didn't attempt to. If you do, let us know how it goes ....
