- Maybe your springs are starting to sag or you want to replace the factory air ride suspension with regular springs? Fortunately its an easy upgrade. Any late model Crown Victoria spring is a direct replacement. I chose to use brand new police interceptor springs to firm up the rear end of my Crown Vic and also replaced the shocks why I was at it due to a blown drivers side shock. The shocks on the 92-02 cars are much harder to replace than the springs, but I will show you a tip on how to get the old ones off. With a little patience you can easily complete this project yourself and save a bunch of money.
Can confirm. I've just completed this upgrade on my 95 crown Vic. It works great! Light trailer towing, heavy groceries or extra passengers are no longer a problem. Thanks for the recommendation! Great vid!

Hey I know its been a couple years but I was wondering couldn't you just stick a wrench on the top nut and then spin the upper casing of the shock from below maybe even by hand? I mean the stud is attached to that top outer shell portion of the shock right? I know you couldn't spin the shock from the bottom but isn't the whole top half one piece?
I cut an access hole in the trunk for each shock then covered them up with metal tape.
I thought about it but wasn't sure exactly where to cut and didn't want to destroy stuff.

I assume i can do this to my 2005 vic? I do a lot of city driving and recently it's become super bouncy I mean like wtf stop. Think my shocks may have broken off lol I get like a 6 time bounce when on the highway it is annoying

I welded the wrench under a bar with a ratchet wrenches I sacrifice one of my ratchet wrenches I kind of cried but it made a good tool to get that shock nut off the top of that mercury

@@jontaylove25 can i see your car ? I have got 2005 and it was for commercial (P72) and i dont know what the springs are but i dont think it looks higher than the other police crown vic ( im talking about the rear springs)

Depends. I got a good deal on eBay for around 100 for the pair. Gotta shop around.
Don't buy regular ones, the progressive springs give way better ride. Run $89 at O'Reilly

Tape the insulators on. I air Bag my 2000 GM as the sway bar rubbed on the Explorer IRS cover drain bolt when fully loaded. Soft or firm ride with air adjustment.

I found some on rock auto, Swedish steel cargo springs $63!
Make sure you get progressive winding
They are way more responsive than air, did my shocks and struts too

I have a 2000 Lincoln Town car, with the springs in the rear brginning to sag. Do you have any idea if the springs from the 2003 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor would be compatible with my vehicle?
I am hoping that they may be compatible, because I was planning to have the coils replaced soon, and this would be a nice upgrade.

The springs are but the shocks are not. In 2006, they completely redesigned the suspension front and rear. Outboard shocks and a much better ride.

Stiffens it up nicely in a good way
Those models were an absolute pita because of the top shock nut location. The later models were finally relocated for easier access thankfully.

Yes it's the same thing on the Grand Marquis. I didn't do any front upgrades
Can I replace the airbags with coil springs easily?
Yes. Just remove airbags and put coil springs in there place. Everything else is the same.

Do you need the rubber isolator on the springs?
I would. Worst case without it you could get some squeaks every now and then.
And theyre only on top ?

Not sure exactly what you mean. It firmed up the rear end. More sporty feeling if anything.
