- Watch as I play, and offer some hopefully helpful tips in getting the Mini Metro achievement The Grey Lokomotive (Deliver 1000 passengers in Berlin using no more than one locomotive per line.)

Berlin has always been my least favourite level in Mini Metro, not sure if it's the stingy tunnel numbers, the annoying way the unique tiles always end up on the south bank or just the crayon colour scheme of the line but today I am getting this achievement!
Have to say, the devs must have been drunk when designing this. Victory feels and appears completely arbitrary. You got a seriously lucky set up, your map didn't fill up with circles within the first 5 minutes and you got the lines and tunnels you needed. Every time I get it the entire left of the map is filled with circles before my second square has spawned, not to mention the south rapidly developing into a maze of unique shapes before I can get two lines down there to cover them all. Devs dropped the ball with this one, no so much a challenge as a wall of bricks and a hard hat.
So I beat it. How? By not building a metro line and rather playing wack-a-mole with the stops. Deleted all my lines bar one whihc ran to every single unique pip south of the river. The rest of my lines were on quick summon connecting an over capacity circle station to a triangle and a square. Once all three are clear enough delete said line and start again somewhere else. That's the secret, lots of short lines connect 1 circle 1 square and 1 triangle. Bonus is that when you delete a line and build a new one the new one uses a spare train from your supply but this doesnt count against the 1 train per line challenge.
Excellent tip on the emergency lines.
@Gibbons3457 thanks for the tip, gonna give this a try. this one is seriously bullshit
I struggled for hours trying to get this achievement and always got overwhelmed before i got to 500. First time after watching your video I got over 800, I can do this now! Thanks for the tips, much appreciated :)
Glad to know I helped :D Good luck in getting over the line :)
Took me only 2 more tries to pull it off. That technique of using a disposable track to perform quick hot-fixes is absolutely brilliant!! I'm now stuck on the Montreal achievement, going to try a few more times before i check out your video for that one ;)
Berlin is the most difficult one in my view, with the limited number of tunnels. I spent 3 hours, maybe 30 restarts, to pass. It is nearly impossible to achieve it without constantly manipulating lines and trains.
For me id say Auckland, Montreal and San Francisco were probably toughest. But I agree this one was no picnic
@@S2isDrawingDead Montreal is so difficult i agree, however it surprises me that you put Auckland instead of a place like Cairo there
Man oh man, this might be the hardest challenge in the game. I finally beat it today, after months and months of trying and failing. Months and months of practice.
My strategy was to play like normal-prevent acute angles and try to prevent repeat shapes-accompanied with lots and lots of position shifting/switching. Also, try not to go below one tunnel ever. Try to always have at least one tunnel at all times - so really, make sure to have two tunnels whenever possible so that when you use a tunnel, you only go down to one tunnel remaining. My final score was 1,047. I might have been able to go on longer if near the end I didn’t accidentally close the time buttons when trying to hit pause.
Also, I deprioritized carriages completely. Like I didn’t ever select a carriage until the final stretch of the game, when I A) had all my lines, and B) had two tunnels at my disposal.
Thanks! I already doubted that the challenge could be met at all. The idea of "hot fixes" and even a "hot fix line" seems to be the key to success.
Wow you had incredible luck.. I always have 4 circles in the left “island” area before I’m even at 300 passengers. Also a square over near that island really helped you out.
Not going to lie, but this is one of the hardest achievement. So many things can go wrong. The distribution, tunnel, and reward. It’s so heavily luck based.
I learned a lot watching this, thanks! Achievement acquired after... I don't know how many attempts.
I learned a couple of good things with this one. Thanks.
The key to Grey Lokomotive achievement is *always* picking line, not carriage because without the line the additional locomotive given every sunday can not be used and then line scumming.
Had to pause like every five to ten seconds from 500 until finally reaching 1000, but it's done! 🚈
Nice one. This achievement is killing me
i think in later versions, this achievement became much more difficult
Especially when round stations starts to appear in enormous amount ub the "island" behind two rivers. It's almost impossible to clean it easy.
Bedřich Sýkorka yess!! I always end up with 4 circles behind the river but don’t ever wanna get more tunnels to help as lines are more important, can’t get more than 700 🙃🤷🏽♀️
thanks this helped me a lot!
Getting major anxiety just watching this because of how much I hate the Berlin level
Just one question. Wouldn't using loops have made this easier? They're about 25% more efficient and it wouldn't have broken the 1 train rule...
I find sometimes its easier to keep track on straight line networks, loops are generally more efficient though
How many takes did you attempt to record this? :)
I dont remember it being too bad. There were one or two levels where it definitely took me a few. Got a little repetitive talking to myself explaining the same info over and over :P
>Got a little repetitive talking to myself explaining the same info over and over :P
Were you saying "Just make sure all of your lines have a triangle, a circle, and a square attached to them." in your sleep?
Its the mantra I now live my life by
A deceptively difficult level. Still can't get above 1000 :(
Thanks, nice video!
i have much more stations then i see here :( around 34 on 700 transported people
Yeah, that way it's possible to get to the 1000. I play it without moving the trains by hand and without changing the lines for just a few seconds, because I think it's kind of ugly. I ask if it's even possible with my 'style'. I tried a lot but could only reach 800 once.
Almost like the real network. No proper planning, odd network, old and dilapidated infrastructure.
I HATE BERLIN SO MUCH AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
