some tips: •**Do closed lines(it's more efficient)** •If you have a lot of station on both sides of the river connect them using another line •Try having maximally 8 station per line •Make some sort of hub where all lines connect (looks like a flower) •If possible Try to avoid having more of the same shape right after eachother on lines (if you have no choice, adding a wagon usually helps) •When you see that a station gets often overcrowded Try adding another wagon/locomotive or redesign your lines •
Couple of pointers - loops are a thing (and you can have trains going in opposite directions on them), and you shouldn't be afraid of a) entirely reengineering the entire network and b) making sure you have plenty of interchanges between lines, especially when they're right next to each other.
1. You can pull from the middle of a line to add a station in. 2. If you make the corners 90deg or bigger the train will speed past if there's no passengers getting on/off. 3. You can make lines loops! 4. Don't be afraid to delete all lines and setup again. A centrally located hub is ideal. 5. Interchange can be used as a last minute game saver.
Advanced Strat: keep one line and train in reserve, and then when a station overcrowds, you can draw a line from there to somewhere that would relieve the pressure. Once the train is on its way and the pressure is lifted, remove the line to put it back in reserve.
Even more advanced strat: make only one line with one of each shape, and keep all other lines as "taxi line", currently at 2500 in london, have pretty much zero pressure all around the map, the only downside is that you will pause a lot, and game will become less fun but hey, that's a downside i can take, in exchange of probably infinite run and top 1 in the world
Pays to keep 2 or 3 lines, along with 4 or more trains, as emergency systems. Load up a train, and once it leaves the station, delete the line, and use it somewhere else... and use loop lines, with a couple of trains going in each direction
Here's a tip for ya, when a line goes to a station, try making the angle at which the line meets the station 90 degrees or higher, so if that station has no passengers in it, the train can just keep going without stopping
Yeah I got confused too at some point... if you have trains leftover it gets automatically added to new line, but if you are at 0 you will build a line with no trains...
One thing to consider is not having the same shape next to eachother on a line, because a circle will never want to go to a circle, so the train fills up quickly with passengers! And will have to miss stations if full!
1:35 A lot of subway systems just use covered trenches that are under roads. Maybe the tunnel refers to actual boring that must be done. And, the line likely has to go deeper there, as to not obstruct the river.
I enjoy this game. Tip, any turn 90 degrees or more causes your trains to slow down regardless of if they need to stop or not. Edit tip- you can also just drag the line from the middle of any line, instead of undoing half a line to add a middle station! :) London was real fun, but the game very quickly gets much harder. Hopefully I can learn more from you so I can do better on those later levels. XD
I'd have made the yellow a complete loop, gets back to the start faster, and also sent the trains round opposite directions.. Also, you don't need to remove/pull back a line to add a station - just click/drag the line to the new station.. (same to remove it from a station)
A few tips: Circular lines are more efficient because the stations at the end of the line receive tranes as freguently as the ones in the middle Try to avoid stacking the same shapes in a row, the best way of putting down paths is to make them with a reasonable ratio of different shapes getting the train Make your paths meet in a square as its the rarest among triangles and the circles, and then put you interchange in the place that the paths meet together

Just so you know, if you click in the middle of an existing line, you can adjust it, it doesn't have to be at the end. This is helpful for lines that have sharp turns, as sharp turns slow down your trains and are inefficient. You can also delete entire lines, which is helpful for when you have a bunch of new stations and need to make everything more organized Good work though! EDIT: every line comes with a train *if* you have a train available, otherwise there's no trains for the line to use
Little tips; Circular lines are generally better -- You can drag the middle of a line out to connect to a new station -- Its never good to have too many stations of the same shape consecutively
The shape of the line matters. For example your red line had a sharp turn in it that slows down all the trains that pass through. The more you can have the line be straight or a slight curve the more the train can maintain speed through the station (especially if there are no passengers waiting). Also, if a line crosses another line it seems the trains will slow down a little at the point where the lines cross.
The key in this game is to cut down travel distance. Circular lines with trains going in both directions are very good because of that.
I actually played Mini Metro first, a few years ago. Well actually, I haven't played Mini Motorways yet, but this channel makes it look like fun, so I'm gonna check it out now.
Ghost-lining is a good idea: drag a line from a crowding station to a relevant destination and delete the line as soon as the train departs, then you can draw another one and another as long as you have trains on your inventory. The deleted lines become transparent like ghosts and disappear as soon as the train arrives at the nearest station and unloads people. Then the train goes either back to the inventory or your next pending line. There can be quite a few ghost lines at the same time depending on your locomotive park. This way helps unload crowded stations on the go. I always keep the last line for this purpose. There's another hack with ghost-lining. Say, there's 5 round-guys and 1 plus-guy on a station. I drag a line from that station to the round-station nearest to the plus-station, so that the train picks up all 5+1 passengers. But keep in mind the direction of your locomotives if you drag a ghost-line to a circle line. Make sure that the plus-guy has the shortest distance left to travel to the plus-station after it gets off with its 5 round fellow passengers. If the departure station and the plus-station are on the same line, then just draw your ghost-line to the round-station and continue to the plus-station. Otherwise, the plus-guy will think it useless to get on your ghost-line and the locomotive will depart with one vacant seat. As has been said in the comments, loop lines are more effective than non-loops. They're more effective if you give them two trains moving in opposite directions.

I suppose you could assume that the weekly updates signify the end of week 1, 2, 3, etc, or it could be the start of a new week (as in Mini Motorways) 😎
If the angles in and out of the station are greater then 90 degrees then the train can express the station( if it doesn’t need to stop it won’t) otherwise if the angle is less then 90 degrees the train has to stop making the line less efficient overall. You can change the angle based on which side you drag the line into the station on
6:57 - You get a new train every week whether you get a line or not. You got one at the same time as you got the light blue line, but you placed it onto the yellow line.
I played this game so much in high school and I never knew you could pause. I can't tell you how many times I panic and accidentally delete a line and have to rebuild it while 5 stations max out. hahaha
Hmmm. Mini airports next where you make air transit routes...and then make a Mini Transit, where you can have motorways, trains, airplanes, and ships/ferries
What you said is true, the bit about alternating shapes. As you saw, when there were a bunch of circles in a row the train filled up and no one was getting off. Gotta keep the circles separate as much as possible, which can get rather difficult. I was kinda hoping you'd played this before and actually could do well at it, as I've only once beaten 2000 on London, and was looking for tips other than micromanaging and moving every train at every stop.
People have probably already pointed this out, but you can grab a line in between two stations to add new stations and unselect already present stations all along the line without having to grab the T and move the end station every time. Stations are added to the point where you first grabbed the line, so if you want to add a station in between two already existing stations, you need to grab the line in between those stations, or you might get some really wonky-looking lines. You can also move and remove trains from lines at any time. They will travel to their next station and drop off whatever passengers they are carrying, and then teleport to wherever you dropped it. Carriages work the same, and are also transferred to the train/line you dropped it onto once they reach the next station. This is useful, because you can micromanage and juggle overcrowded stations by at any time moving trains from less stressed lines to pick up passengers from ones with a timer. I'm not great at this game, but I've survived weeks longer than I normally would by doing this.
Golden tip: The trains slow down on a line crossing. You can actually pick up a line and move it (to avoid obstacles, to shorten the distance or to untie the lines).
5:27 In Spain they teach us some British TV shows that's how I got that reference to that soap opera that has been going for the same time as Queen Elizabeth II.
Same, I bought them both after seeing one of his mini motorways video. I didn't even know until afterwards that mini motorways was a literally just released game either.
A proven strat for me is to: -connect every line with every basic shape (at least one square, one triangle, one circle) -try not to build a line with to many same shapes in a row. Try to build your line with triangles and circles alternately and with one square somewhere in that line. -and try to build a line that connects all the special stations, with every other line having access to this line somehow. There is also no penalty in the game for stopping the game and completely redrawing the map, you should definitely do this from time to time, so your network gets more efficient. Also: only cross Lines on stations, otherwise the trains will be slower every time they drive over a crossed line.
Subways usually aren't far enough underground to safely clear rivers and ravines without additional structural infrastructure. Therefore, tunnel for the tunnel.
Not sure if anyone mentioned, but you can pull at the middle of an existing line and drag it to a new station to add a station in the middle of that line. This also works to remove a station. To delete an entire line, click the corresponding colored dot at the bottom of the screen, then click the “X” that pops up. You can pull trains off of a line and move them to another line if you wish; just click, drag, and drop. Also, harsh angles in the line reduces acceleration speed, including at stations. Try to avoid them, or use the grab and pull maneuver to remove and then re-add a station. The game will try to give the optimal angle when it can. Finally, yes, as others have said, loops are your friend in this game. You can actually put two trains on a loop going in opposite directions to provide optimal passenger flow. (Clockwise + Anti-Clockwise…isn’t that how our British friends say it?) Loving your content! 😊
Challenge idea: Excessive Loopage All line you create have to be loops when you make them (the first line being the only one that doesn't have to loop). You can pause time to adjust the lines, but keep them in a loop.
This was fun/weird.. I’m completely new to MiniMotorways, starting after seeing your videos, so I feel like I’m learning from you and together with you... MiniMetro on the other hand, I’ve been playing for years! I’m just sitting here screaming and making stressed noises to everything from the acute angles, to unnecessary tunnel usage, to station order, to lines crossing, to “hub-building”, and simply just to how you draw and rearrange your lines.. Wow this sounds harsh.. I can’t wait to follow your journey from this point! Good luck
Wenn you have a red line with only circles an connect it to your main line they will go out at the station and wait for another train to pick them up to the location they want You also can take the line between two stations an connect it to another It is better when you don't have 3 same stations in row
You can connect a line to make a circle so it doesn’t go end to end. Also you can drag the area of the line between 2 stations to extend it if the is a station near.
So you know, trains slow down when going over another line, so overlapping lines slows them down, and a line that makes an acute angle at a station forces the train to stop, even if there aren’t any passengers to pick up. Also, I’m not sure how it works in real life (hence why I clicked on the video), but I think,,,, loops are more efficient in this game, conditionally.
Shorter lines are the best lines. Sequences of the same stations are bad. It means passengers will get stuck in the middle stations as trains are filled. Interchanges are interchanges. Use them as (rare) focal points in your transport system. Unlike in Mini Motorways, you can a lot more rapidly restructureyiur entire system (a train only needs to reach its next station to be available for redistribution). Each week gives you another train, putting down a line without an available train means it won't have any (or you could generate trains from nothing). Personally I've had good experiences with making one or two lines specifically for the more unique stations and pushing those passengers through some core stations (that could serve well for interchanges). Have fun with the 5+ chains of circles on one half of the map. Its frustratingly common 😁
You’d think for a man in love with roundabouts, he would have discovered the incredible efficiency of the circle line by now
True
Also making it at large angles allows for the train to express through the station without stopping. If it is empty

RCE is the first person i saw that takes working at home seriously
What you said is true, the bit about alternating shapes. As you saw, when there were a bunch of circles in a row the train filled up and no one was getting off. Gotta keep the circles separate as much as possible, which can get rather difficult.
I was kinda hoping you'd played this before and actually could do well at it, as I've only once beaten 2000 on London, and was looking for tips other than micromanaging and moving every train at every stop.
That eastenders bit was gold
On my phone i used google games to login and access leaderboard, and first person on the leaderboard has 900 milion passengers 💀
"it's a nice little U-shaped line, if you rotate it" bro it's a C lol
“Oy! I wanna get to square!” Why was that my favorite thing haha
detail tip: trains slow down when crossing other lines outside of trainstations, avoid crossing lines if possible
Single best advice I can give you: Make circular lines! ;)
5:27 In Spain they teach us some British TV shows that's how I got that reference to that soap opera that has been going for the same time as Queen Elizabeth II.
A couple of tips, try to have every shape on every line and try to have the start on one side of the river and the end on the other.
You're legit the reason I'm going to buy both these games, I would've never bought them otherwise tbh
Same, I bought them both after seeing one of his mini motorways video. I didn't even know until afterwards that mini motorways was a literally just released game either.
A proven strat for me is to:
-connect every line with every basic shape (at least one square, one triangle, one circle)
-try not to build a line with to many same shapes in a row.
5:23 I love Eastenders
Mini motorways isn't on the switch yet so I've been playing this and I'm so happy you started!
Highway designer in real life? That's amazing here in the us we havent built a highway in decades
7:00 Every line comes with a train if there's a train available 😅
I just downloaded this yesterday and for such a simplistic game, this one is so damn enjoyable and addicting.
You can redraw lines, you can grab them from anywhere not just from the ends and move them around
Subways usually aren't far enough underground to safely clear rivers and ravines without additional structural infrastructure. Therefore, tunnel for the tunnel.
Tip: You can drag a train from one line to another or a carriage from one train to another.
(Clockwise + Anti-Clockwise…isn’t that how our British friends say it?)
Loving your content! 😊
Love how you accidently created the Circle Line XD
Challenge idea: Excessive Loopage
All line you create have to be loops when you make them (the first line being the only one that doesn't have to loop).
Good luck
As soon as I heard you say "hello fellow engineers" I thought to myself "Ohhhhh Jesus RCE's going to screw up the London Underground!!"
Wenn you have a red line with only circles an connect it to your main line they will go out at the station and wait for another train to pick them up to the location they want
You also can take the line between two stations an connect it to another
It is better when you don't have 3 same stations in row
You can connect a line to make a circle so it doesn’t go end to end. Also you can drag the area of the line between 2 stations to extend it if the is a station near.
watching this made me understand the circle line a lot more
I got one mini motorways video recommended to me and now im subscribed and watching a bunch of your videos
The Owen Wilsons 👌 Perfection
