Imagine a world where metro stations pop up randomly over the city and people wait there for ages in hopes some godlike entity will see fit to connect the station to a line.
Those are so cool, but they don't stop at every station. It gets really annoying if the station that is filling up is the one that the bullet train doesn't want to stop at.

I love this as a train guy. This reminds me a lot of the Glasgow Metro. It's just a big loop line. I like seeing what normies...uh, I mean non-trainspotters, do when they play metro games. Loop lines are a common strategy for cities that have spoke-hub lines. Systems like the Moscow Metro have most of their lines head to the city center and they intersect a lot, which is nice if you want to head to the center. But if you're in an outer area, it can be difficult to get to a different outer area without heading to the center. This is where loop lines come in handy. You don't have to go all the way in, just transfer to the loop line.
That is why there is a second outer loop -- Moscow Central Circle, which decreases the load on the radial lines (from and to the center) and first loop (ring line) Как похорошела Москва при Сергее Семёновиче!
They're building another big loop in moscow, this third loop passes through a lot of outer areas and aims to connect them together so people can use more direct routes Or you can just take a bus)

Cutting the loop might help. Also, as others have said you could modify the challenge to be "multiple lines, but same route". Its fine if you don't have enough bridges, the lines don't all have to traverse the whole length of the "main" line. You can also try a massive single "loop" made of multiple lines that never overlap.
4:40 right here is where I, a 20yo Berlin citizen, figured out that those are actually the correctly coloured Metro Lines (U1 is lime, U2 red, U3 dark green, U4 yellow etc) and i‘m about to get this game rn. Very Convinced that the developers put a lot of thought into this. This is amazing.

The ideal line visits different station types between each station as much as possible and any line that has an end where the train doubles back on itself visits the same station type immediately after one possibly different station at each end. As in if you end with a circle and before the end is a triangle, the train visits triangle-circle-triangle. Also if you put two of the same shape in a row at the end say two circles, the train visits circle-circle-circle whereas connecting those two circles together in a loop remains just two circles visited in a row not three.
I looked this game up and started playing it after watching you. I cannot believe how addictive it is. Every time I don't hit my goal, it just makes me want to try again and again until hours disappear.

When I was playing this, I think squares were the rarest of the regular shapes. It's been a while, but it would appear that circles are the most frequent.
I think you can go to a station multiple times? Could be useful to make a figure 8/infinity loop, like sharing the middle square so the squares don’t have to go as far around the loop.
i think the shapes represent something (only really cirle triangle and square). So for those three shapes, the less sides the less demands to go to the places so cirles could represent like resisdential areas or outer areas of a city wheras a square could represent a large tourist magent which is why there is so few of the aswell.
I started playing this a few days ago and it'd interestingly relaxing. Out approaches are vastly different in some areas. I'm gonna be testing shape based lines next time I play. let a train pick all the waiting triangles and drop them then collect the rest and play hard on interchanges. I doubt it'll be efficient, but something to try and maybe get insight from.

I think that u can get a high score when u use a line for every form( for example line blue only has circles) and then each line goes to 1 point of the map (for example a triangle in the middle of the map). Or each line has 1 form (line blue has 1 circle 1 square 1 triangle 1 diamond etc.)
I'm pretty sure the 'lemon' shape is a football - the placement of that station is basically where the MCG (Australia's biggest football/cricket stadium) is!

If say, line 1 hits squares and triangles, but connects at a triangle to say, line 2. Line 2 hits circles and triangles, but if there is a circle waiting at line 1's square station, it will get picked up, dropped off at the line interchange, and get brought interlined to a circle.

Hey Matt, when you take a train and put it on the same line, the contents of it will be unloaded, by doing so you can free up busy stations whenever you want.
at 5:20 if you continue that line to the southeast it actually, literally will be Berlin's "party train". "another bloody circle" must be how you feel in real life when city planners insist on segregating residential from commercial districts. you could've done two identical routes on Melbourne for your one-line challenge, it wouldn't be cheating
I think similar shapes spawning closer to each other DOES in fact make some sense though. Imagine those people wanted to go to a cinema (circle) or a swimming pool (square). So there are some stations that are around a cinema - that would be circle stations, and some stations in proximity of a swimming pool, all square stations.
Not fair, Melbournes entire network of TRAINS will pass thru the CBD with a ever efficient Round-a-Bout the trams act like connecters meshing thru the CBD and linking arterials in the larger LGA cities, an lately we're getting a outer loop. It's gunna be great

Didn't think much of it but the next time I tried it I got 3000 in London and am top 1% (can't even see the number on the bar chart) Never got past 1,400 again

For Berlin, it mentioned something about limited tunnels. That seems counter intuitive, as Germans are engineers and surely would love building lots of tunnels. There should be limitless tunnels for maximum efficiency. If tunnels for the sake of tunnels are not good enough for Germans, efficiency brought by tunnels will be. Got to like efficiency. And tunnels.
I agree the single line challenge is acceptable, but once you hit the train limit you should add extra lines, until that is maxed as well. Carriages should be places as needed. Train moving is acceptable to save stations, though it IS cheaty its also a mechanic.
Question for ones who play this: can you add like another line that goes exactly the same path so he could basically add more trains to that line? I'm guessing the issue is you would have enough bridges, but that aside could you have two lines running the exact same path?

Idea: Do the one-line-challange again, but when you hit the train cap just build a second line that has the exact same route as the old line
I second this - it is a fair way around the limit. So long as the second line follows the exact same route it is basically still just one line.

In the level Osaka, not Kyoto, you can put bullet trains instead of normal trains in your lines, so it would be cool if you could check that out.

if you ever revisit this challenge, try having multiple lines that follow the exact same path to bypass the locomotive limit

Maybe try the one line challenge with multiple colors following exactly the same route. That way you can fit more trains on the line.
TBH the one line challenge is very instructive, you could start with that and then try to put quick access to help with choke points

Try building more than 1 loop if it gets like that. Means you can have 2 medium lines with 10 trains versus 1 large line with 5.
