  • The Omega Constellation Globemaster was never a particular crowd favourite. Often ignored due to more popular sports models, it remains a very handsome but rarely appreciated Omega watch. In today's video, I will present you with the reason why this is just the watch which Omega needs: its Dark Knight.

It’s a spectacular watch. I fell in love with it at first sight, and yet bought a Seamaster Aqua Terra instead.

Don't forget, the Globemaster release was much delayed. It was lauded when announced. Then it failed to appear. Took about a year and by then nobody was interested. Well, I was. I have the white dial version. Great watch.

I just purchased this watch on August 7th.
For a long time the Aqua Tera was my “grail watch”.
I came very close to buying the AT but my bank would not release the funds.
Next day after getting things straight with the bank, I went back to look at the Globemaster.
I bought the white dial Globemaster on a leather strap ! Beautiful watch ! Keeps great time ! Averaging around plus 1/2 second per day. Store it crown up overnight.
It is a “under the radar” watch and I love it !!!

Great video. I had not considered that the lack of a warmer welcome for the Globemaster was just bad timing. I’m a huge Globemaster fan, and own the opaline silver version. I haven’t worn another watch since getting it in 2018. It’s a special piece to me, and it’s mix of historical references and updated aesthetic, with a spectacular movement, really defies the fickleness of trends. I know I’ll be just as happy with it in 30 years time, and that for me makes this a success.

  • @Ossory88

I had it and wanted to sell it at times even in blue dial with leather strap. It looked a bit too sterile for my liking. Then I bought an olive nato strap to it and what can I say: it's phenomenal. It gets more wrist time than my explorer 2 white dial or my lange 1.
I think as soon as omega discontinues this watch, people will look back as the prices rise and wonder: how didn't we know this was such an opportunity to buy!

Great to see your articulate take on this superb watch. I think the GM is a truly beautiful, versatile and unusual watch. Smart/casual, smart/formal, sport/casual, this watch can do it all with aplomb - perhaps more so than it's in-house nemesis, the Aqua Terra. This has been on my versatile blue watch shortlist (first world problems, eh) for a while, along with the Aqua-Terra, the far-harder-to-justify-financially VC Overseas and the less obvious Zenith Defy Classic Titanium. I'm glad the GM is getting recognition here (see also Bruce William's channel) and placed in it's historical perspective with impeccable delivery. As you say, the current fashion for obvious sports watches with characterful names will wane as people develop sophistication and nuance in their watch appreciation - I hope we see more watches like this as a result.

I love the blue dial version of this. If Omega can figure out how to make a better designed integrated bracelet for this, sky is the limit. This could then easily be a new classic.

Long time subscriber to the channel and whilst I continue to appreciate the content, I must express my frustrations that the distracting background music volume on this video, and other recent releases, has made this a channel increasingly difficult to listen and diminished my enjoyment of the content.
Onto the watch itself: I have the steel version with a blue dial. When equipped on the bracelet, it feels heavier than my TT 116613LB, that has a solid gold center link. Love the silent rotor of the 8900 movement though! Wish the bracelet was lighter for a more comfortable wear as a daily watch.

I'm curious about your opinion on the case against La Californienne, a company that was buying old Rolexes and blinging them out. The case was won on the basis of Trademark protection. But the designs were unique, interesting and sold well. If I buy something, surely it is my right to do whatever I wish with it? I'd like to see an episode with your thoughts. Thanks

@@resbalonso sorry mate but your wrong, the fluted bezel first appeared on the oyster in 1926, trying to make the watch have some water proofing! This is a rolex design and always will be and for me looks wrong on an Omega.

    • @resbalonso
      @resbalonso 4 года назад +6

@@focusrssteve I've read that too. It was to screw the bezel on, same as the caseback. But according to Hodinkee, Omega has claimed it has fluted bezels as far back as 1910. Anyway, I do agree that fluted bezels today are mostly associated with Rolex or copycats.

I spent a year obsessing over the Speedmaster Pro, became disillusioned with the overwhelming options and models offered, then the GM caught my eye… Let’s just say for all the NASA inspired legend of the Speedy and it’s genuine tool watch appeal, the understated highly legible design of the Globemaster, COSC + certification, and all round quality is a winner for me. But as the vid said, it is a tad overpriced, bring it down a bit and I’m buying in.

svelte proportions...? That’s one of the things that is wrong with the watch.
It’s to thick. the bracelet is not proper to the watch, it needs it’s own bracelet. The flutet bezel
could be scrapped to make it the elegant watch again it used to be, They should stay true to their past and use the dauphine hands again. Today, it’s not elegant, nor sporty.
