    Pete said Mick was the best bassist in the UK. Anyone who was able to play with Mick was blown away by his talent. How he ended up broke is so unfortunate but Midge Ure was a stand up guy to help raise money for his family. Much respect to all for this.

      My question is why do musicians that are ready multi millionaires need to go to the public to ask them for money when Midge, Pete, Phil, could have all just wrote a check each and not think anything about it? I mean what happened to brothers in Arm?

      I always think that with any charity entertainers get involveqd in. We have people already multimillionaires trying to get ordinary Joe and Jo Public to dig in their impoverished pockets.
      I can't help but feel it's an ego trip for them, that's all.
      I remember thinking this at Live-Aid all those years ago!

    Music with space like this is where fretless bass can really shine, especially when being played by someone like Mick who could really make it sing.

    I have been a fan of Midge since the late 70-ties but this video is amazing. Not only is it a beautiful song but he got Mick Karn on base and Phil Collins on Drums and himself on vocal and Guitar and I just cant think it could be any better. For the first time in my 50 year old life I am religeous and I am OK with it. Many thanks to you who posted this video, I honeslty can say that I cired a bit when I saw it. THANKS

      You forgot Pete Townshend on rhythm, this was a video from the 80s for a benefit, these guys all played on Townshend's songs from same concert. Great supergroup if there ever was one. Look up Slit Skirts on here to see the performance from these guys.

    • @MisAnnThorpe
      @MisAnnThorpe 6 лет назад +1

      Who cares about the history of rock?! Karn's music is so far and beyond mere rock music that it's almost insulting to label it under such a reductive category. Have a listen to Titles, More better different, The Concrete twin, Dreams of reason, The Waking hour, Polytown, Three part species etc etc. Around this time, Townshend (for what it's worth) is on record as stating that he believed Mick Karn to be the best (electric?) bassist in the world. Personally, I don't even think that the bass guitar was his best instrument.

    • @MisAnnThorpe

      The guy in the leather jacket playing synths looks similar to Billy, but I am pretty certain it isn't him. We only get few shots of him, best one was at the end of the video. To my knowledge, Billy never played in any of the Prince's Trust concerts. He is a very fine musician nonetheless!
