Dark Souls 3, but A.I. chooses my build...

- Published on Mar 16, 2026
- Today we're playing Dark Souls 3, except my build will be chosen by artificial intelligence, or more specifically, ChatGPT. If the A.I. doesn't give me the green light, I can't use the weapon/armor/ring.
I'm sure most of you know by now, but ChatGPT is a chatbot developed by OpenAI. Chatbots are designed to mimic human conversations, but remembering prompts inputted earlier in the same discussion sets ChatGPT apart from others. In this video, I want to find out just how much the A.I. knows about Dark Souls 3, and how good the recommendations will be as we progress through the game.

Hey everyone, I’m going to start by saying don’t worry, I’ll still be making Terraria content. But I’ve been really getting into the Souls games, so I'm trying it out on the channel today. While I’m no expert at the games, maybe ChatGPT can cover for me by creating a solid build to breeze through the game with :P
It's cool this is my excuse to start learning about dark souls
Really digging it hope we get a part 2
Don't worry about what game you're playing. You make great vids and we enjoy watching!
Please please try sekiro, it is so goated and makes great content because of its difficulty
Don’t worry about it, do whatever makes you happy. I’ll watch whatever you post anyways.
"Gundyr is down!"
Ah, truly a battle for the ages. Gungnir VS Gundyr.
The battle of all time
This battle will be legendary

ChatGPT is like the guy that everyone thinks has all the answers but he’s actually just charismatically blowing smoke out of his ass.
Well of course i know him, he's me
@rqiyah hello there
I feel personally attacked... I'm just trying my best to answer questions here!
@emanuelperez3595 a suprise to be sure, but a welcome one
@GODOFMAYHEM96 😮😮😵💫
The entire run was clutching on that luck stat
Leveling luck from 9 up to 11 we call that the lucky larry
Yeah he was screwed without all that critical hit chance
Fun fact: if you want early souls, the coins are actually better than the soul bank item, as you can sell them for a larger soul amount than the soul gives you, so the AI was 100% bang on with that
Oh wow
Plus you can use it and the undead hunter charm to get the symbol of avarice from the first mimic pretty much guaranteed.
Damn we only 6+ years late at 😂
Soul bank item? That's a new one
The soul gives 2k souls and the coins only give you 150 per sell for 1050 at 7 tho
AI is like that kid in school that would spread game rumors and claim that his brother has the most broken weapon in the game
And don't forget that its uncle works in Nintendo
@Another_El_User "its"
@cataclysmnik yea that's definitely one of the words in that sentence
@Another_El_User "uncle"
@cataclysmnik ok "Sagnik"
"The undead settlement and the dancer are of similar difficulty" wow lmao
i mean it is right if ur lvl 1.. both oneshot u.. so yeah dancer is easier
Lmfao the AI got that one wrong but it makes for an entertaining video
No, its not, not even remotely close, and neither one shot you with rings
Ai really said "get gud"
Spoken like a true dark souls elite player
Dancer must be of similar difficulty to Undead Settlement, she has the same amount of health as every enemy there!
if you took on every single npc in undead settlement at once, itd probably be harder than dancer. so yea id rather just get dancer out of the way before taking on the extremely hard challenge that is the legendary undead settlement
The hard part about dancer is not being hard while fighting her
@mjdh2328Is this why people struggle against Malenia so much in Elden Ring?
@grubbygeorge2117Can confirm.
@grubbygeorge2117 no please guys why are you like this
You should ask the chatbot what quests to do / what endings to go for. I think it'll give it a extra layer of complexity.
Cant tell if AI or IGN article
Gungnir playing dark souls?
This is going to be epic.
Took the words out of my mouth
Gungnir: *makes a dark souls 3 video*
Me and the entire soulsborn community: OMG! Oh my god it's happening!
This is truly a dark souls moment
I disagree
I agree
This was the dark souls moment of all time
Scariest thing about GPT3 is that it is strikingly human-like in the way that when it doesn't really know what to say it just makes shit up and runs with it.
Edit: also you can mash when the stray demon grabs you to make him drop you before he yeets you btw, only grab in the game that works like that for whatever reason.
Not the only one, all or almost all of them work like that, though it’s rarely that visible, and more importantly you often die before you have the chance to free yourself
Not the only one. There are more. The thing is that its the only one that with Human input you can manage to escape.
@szymonrozanski6938 Well yeah that is true, didn't rly think it was worth fussing over is all.
It's not even the only one you can do with human controls
I shake of slimes in the regular
Really curious as to where this AI gets its information, because I don't think I've ever met a single person that played DS3 who would tell you that Dancer and the Undead Settlement are of comparable difficulty.
OBVIOUSLY, the AI recommending Great Lightning Spear at 3:30 means beating Vordt, picking up VVarrior of Sunlight in Undead Settlement, triggering Dancer early, killing her, grinding 30 Sunlight Medals from the Lothric Knights in the castle itself, and giving those to the Sunlight Altar for Great Lightning Spear, beating the entire game, starting Nevv Game Plus, and killing Vordt vvith Great Lightning Spear
This is the first time in my life i have seen someone use two 'V' as an W
😬😶🌫😏
does your W key not work?
@icebrorottenmushroom1817 maybe the Vs are reference to the Praise the Sun emote
This is why I'm not worried about AI taking our jobs anytime soon.
I dunno, some of those jobs are already done by...not the brightest people...
Ai should take the job of game journalist
Game journalists, cashiers at fast food places, Starbucks employees:
@weskintime4177we should eradicate the poors
It's already happening. It won't eliminate jobs entirely, but it will massively reduce the number of available positions and already has started doing so. The introduction of AI into the workplace will be much like the introduction of computers. Used for a few things in specific fields at first, and then eventually it'll be so normalized that it'll be everywhere and at that point the damage is done.
I actually really like this idea! Perhaps you could do this with others souls likes? I'd love to see more!
YES please do more dark souls runs they are so much fun!!!
crazy how nowadays the AI can actually do good guides without being made and trained just for that
I bought this game this christmas and I felt in love with it. And to see you doing these now I like your content even more. My two favorite gaming franchises in one channel is just perfection.
3:11 use the Ring of wealth to teleport you to the Grand exchange
I love how most of this video is just "proof that AIs are still not advanced enough for this shit".
but one day, they will speedrun games instead of humans in the most efficient way possible.
@oldcat1790 soooo
TAS?
i mean its a chat model, not a general purpose AI.
its predicting what word comes next, it doesnt even know what dark souls is.
ai is still very much in its infancy
@agenttechnaid5438 tas is tool assisted, basically you can pause the game and input stuff frame by frame, its fully human though
@shoeofobama6091 a lot of them have premade inputs using trial and error
so it is AI
its gas lighting
As someone who watches a lot of Souls Series challenge runs, this is unique and fun. Keep this run going. I want to see more!
I remember back then when luck bleed build were completely op in pvp, with hollow infused onikiri and ubadachi + carthus rouge you could almost proc the bleeding in a couple of hits
It would wreck most bosses that weren't immune to bleed as well
Damn the ai actually was right about luck since if you get the sword that dmg scales with luck you easy clear the game
5:42 darksouls 3 when my parents walk in
FELLAS, HES FINALLY PLAYING DARK SOULS
HE HAS OPENED HIS EYES TO THIS MASTERPIECE OF A SERIES
He's played for a while but hadn't made content
yes u can see he's pretty good. Already played trough
Lmao u can tell hes a vet
@wannacry0 yeah no new player is killing dancer this early easily lol
I don't know about you, but the AI actually improved quite a bit. I am using it for tips on my first DS3 playthrough, and ut gives me some decent advices actually.
It told me that the Dancer is terrifying and require true skills rather than just whaking. And the Tree is just a puzzle boss that once you figure it out once, it becomes a walk.
Dancer of the Boreal Valley is of very similar difficulty to Undead Settlement. If you took all the enemies of Undead Settlement and crammed them into a single room, I'm sure they would be of very similar difficulty to clear out as the single Dancer.
I beg to differ. The thing about Undead Settlement is that the enemies aren't all placed in a single room, they're spaced out across the entire area. Not to mention, if you don't have a crowd control tool like an AoE spell or a sweeping attack, the sheer amount of bodies hitting you would SHRED your health before you could even do much. Fighting one enemy, no matter how strong or fast it is, is manageable because you have one target you can focus on to evade and wittle down. And the inverse is true as well, no matter how weak or slow an enemy is, putting a bunch in a room together will cause the player to get hit a lot more than just one.
@aesiro13 It all depends on player placement in the case of shoving the whole of the Settlement into one room. It's like the hollows in front of the gargoyles in Undead Parish or the Prowling Magus and Congregation fight on steroids. Just have to give them a bigger arena, clump them up and put a little space between them and the entry to give some time to figure out what's happening and it seems like it'd be about the same. The little fast guys come charging first, deal with them, ranged guys are a thing but tolerable while clearing out the rest of the group.
Actually, there's probably a few people out there that could just make this happen. Put Dancer and the whole of the Settlement in, like, Nameless King's arena, let them fight it out a few times, see who's really got an edge.
Off topic but I fucking love your pfp
@sharkattack2153 nah
I love the dancer blades, and it hurt that you never used it's special attack.
0:08 not me having beaten the whole game using the maiden outfit and smough’s hammer…
As an avid watcher of The Backlogs, this is an unexpected surprise from the Gungnir. But a welcome one.
I did this but at the start gave it a description and rundown of all the stats so it could make optimal builds or more accurate builds to cosplay characters
So excited to see you getting into souls challenge runs
I’ve never played dark souls or any souls like game, but I absolutely love watching it! And you make amazing content no matter the game!
24:34 is summons the skellieys
Would absolutely love to see more Soulsborne and other types of content on the channel. I tuned in not too long ago for my first stream, and I always enjoy seeing other content from RUclipsrs as they branch out. As long as you enjoy, that's what matters. Here's some small details, tips and old history info if you're at all curious, based on what I see in the video
It's been a hot minute since I've played Dark Souls 3, but... some of the stuff mentioned by the bot is actually pretty right on the money. Luck working for crit is wrong, but once upon a time, Luck builds were really OP, specifically if using a certain Straight Sword. Mind, not as good now, and having to guide the bot to tell you to use it wouldn't be very easy (ring of wealth), but if you could, that would actually be pretty ideal.
Another one being, if you use a Lloyd's Talisman (Undead Hunter Charms in DS3) on a Mimic you have aggro'd - bare fist hit it once at least - they will awaken before promptly going back to sleep, opening their mouth and allowing you to retrieve the item inside without fighting... but this ALSO has a chance to give you the Symbol of Avarice at almost x2 the drop rate, and can be done Repeatedly till it drops, if you have enough charms and coins. I know it isn't really something plausible at that point in the game, but for later on with the other mimics, you can easily perform this action.
The Dancer's Blades at the start of the game were very good - my favourite weapons in fact - before they were nerf'd heavily into the ground. They nerf'd Split-Damage weaponry, so anything with 2+ types of damage types would apply to multiple defences and the overall damage would fall immensely. Really the only decent weapons left in the meta are Strength weapons last I had seen. Oh, and this goes double, if not triple for the Dancer's Blades, as they do Split Damage x3, between Physical, Magic and Fire, so you will almost always NEVER do more than 300 dmg per swing, and lemme tell ya, against Midir, that SUCKS.
Stray Demons, hurray! The best known boss of Dark Souls, as the Tutorial boss (Asylum Demon), the easiest Titanite Slab (Stray Demon), and big fire boi (Demon Fire Sage). Now, I bet you already know this, but for those who don't if you do enough damage and poise damage (ie, stagger) to one or both of the Legs, as this thing is ancient and breaking apart physically, you can actually completely cripple it by destroying its legs, making the fight that much easier!
Interestingly, you CAN run out of room in Wolnir's Boss Room. There is a giant rock wall that you can end up backing into. This means that if you don't do enough damage, you can actually reach a point where you hit a sort of, "Soft Enrage" where you will just always be under him/in the breath attack. It's uh... not fun. I do not recommend a "Jump Attack Only" playthrough for that. Also not-so-fun-fact: Wolnir was the hardest boss for me my first playthrough, cuz his attacks would almost 1-shot me, or shove me beneath him into the mist. My first ever kill on him, it's not out of place to say I won with my back up against a Literal Wall.
Pontiff Doge! Last thing you fight in the video, and yes, you are correct - you must beat the Deacons of the Deep to get the Irithyll Doll, which lets you pass the barrier. But, on the matter of the Doge, 3 facts for you. Firstly, if you don't kill it on the bridge, it'll actually jump down and fight you in the waters below, before you enter the Sewer and meet "wannabe Onion Bro" - Siegmeyer of Catarina is Best Onion Bro, don't @me.
But as well, if you get a Riposte/Critical/Visceral/Big Boi Attack on it, which leaves it below 25% HP, you will see it panic on its back for a bit, before giving up, and almost becoming Human once more... and in that moment, it lays there on it's back, puts its hands together, and prays...
Still not known if it's praying for Mercy/Pity, praying to the Pontiff himself, or for another unknown reason. Can easily find videos of it, just look up something like "Pontiff Dog Praying" and you can easily see some videos of it.
And probably my favourite little detail, if you have the Doge charge at you as you walk through the Invisible Barrier, it will rebound off, and you can giggle to yourself, as if I remember correctly, it makes a sound and ripples as it repels them!
Thanks again for the video, Gungnir, if you actually read this. If you or anyone else want any random tips or bits of old lore/info, this stuff still takes up like 90% of my memory... God, end my suffering lol
24:34 why is wolnir falling so fucking satisfying
remake this video now that chat know more staff
Fun fact: when the stray demon grabs you, you can mash your buttons and it will let you go faster
This was very entertaining I would love to see more of this concept with other games! I know elden ring is a lot longer but the AI seems to know a lot more about it could be really interesting
High Lord Walmart kills you with morning breath
Would love to see more of this!
18:10 - If you spam the shoulder buttons repeatedly you can exit the grab and avoid being thrown by the Stray Demon.
I really like the way that this video was put together, it's different from the normal Terraria content but I'm glad to see you branching out, and I would love to see more :D
"Even with a bad sword, its hard to lose to Wolnir."
Me, who didn't realize you could break the bracelets for extra damage "R-right..."
That is very wonderful idea. Keep doing souls content. I loved it.
Chat GPT is that kid in class that thinks he knows everything and will just lie to you with 100% confidence
PLEASE never stop making ds3 vids, this one was so entertaining
It sounds like ChatGPT is running one of those modded RNG versions of darksouls where everything is flipped on its head.
This was really fun! You got a nice attitude and great pacing. Was sad to see that this is only Part 1 and you didn't do the full game, i'll happily watch more of this! Gotta go check out that Terraria Content :)
You can mash buttons and escape the stray demons grab, he'll just drop you instead of throwing you off. 17:59
this was a pretty good video! would love to see more in the sense of doing goofy stuff with ai
GPT3 feels like that weird friend that lies impulsively, but can't make them sound believable.
Super happy to see you play my favorite game of all time like that, super stoked for a part 2
Looks like I've spotted a wild xBirdie in the wild...
@chaoskiller6084 oh wow hello there KEKW
I never realized that the bars in the skeleton room was a shortcut
Awesome to see you make Dark Souls content! As a side note the Dancers swords are actually surprisingly viable, granted you are specing into more than one damage stat that is, After I got it I used it all the way up to and through Frita, whom I then stole the scythes of.
@AScreaminDemon They do look cooler though
18:00 you can get out if you button-mash!
It’s actually embarrassing what this AI is thinking about, cause it truly is an unlucky AI. Especially with confusing certain stats and items with others
This comment feels AI generated
@emerrinsytchannel1214 yeah lmao
@emerrinsytchannel1214 im guessing it's some ELS person with a loose grasp on the english language
The AI confused stats from DS3 with DS1.
In DS3:
Endurance: Increases Stamina
Vitality: Increases Equip Load
In DS1:
Endurance: Increases Stamina AND Equip Load
Vitality: Increases Health
The young white branch is the best starting item
Just for your info, luck increased your bleed procs. That’s what it meant by increased your crit
if he could get the ai to reccomend a blood infused bandit's knife somehow he could end up with a decent build, but none of the weapons he's used so far have bleed build up lol
Luck only increases the bleed buildup, not the damage of the actual bleed proc
@user-uf7qf7mv6k higher bleed buildup means you can proc bleed faster and therefore more times on a boss, so it still increases your damage output. bleed is generally pretty meh in ds3 especially compared to elden ring, but the bandit's knife is very good for proccing bleed quickly, and because bleed is percentage based the bandits knife is very effective at a low level. if you want to beat the dancer early, the bandit's knife is a solid option
If an AI told me to spec luck there's only one true build to go from there; +10 Hollow Broken Straight Sword.
I actually died to the tree more than I did to the dancer... I obviously fought the dancer after being teleported there.
The Wolnir attack you couldn't figure out is what summons the Skeletons
crystal sage has a glaring weakness preventing it from being difficult. just aim for the one shooting purple spells instead of blue. the moment you do enough damage to them, the clones disappear. do it fast enough, and the clones can't even get a chance to fire off a spell.
I have 100% dark souls 3 and even made a guide about it, but today i learned there is a shortcut to high lord wolnir by the invasion spawn. Dark souls never fails to surprise me
The luck thingy that the ai said is prob a reference to fallout, cause it increases chances to hit criticals
The "AI" is just a slightly more advanced chat bot that scans as much as it can from giant data sources like Google, so this is basically just a randomized run. For those that may not know the inner workings of the AI :)
Maybe the A.I. meant that the entire population of Undead Settlement is harder than Dancer...so, maybe-?
ChatGPT has beef with the dancer of the boreal valley💀
When Wolnir does his breath attack you can just stay at his arms it won’t hit you.
23:10 i was today years old when i learned about this shortcut
The dancer’s twin swords actually are the highest dps curved twin swords in the game. Sellsword is close second. Most of the single curved swords when 1 handed go between the sell swords and the dancers swords. For PvE, I did the maths using a majority strength, majority dex and then a quality build. Dancers, even when one handed has the highest dps.
If you button mash while being grabbed by the stray demon you can break out of his grasp
you can mash the attack buttons after being grabbed by the stray demon and it'll drop you instead of throwing you
3:22 to be fair you could get Great Lightning Spear before Vordt. Activate Vordt's fight, save and quit, deathcam unload at the High Wall to skip Vordt, grab Warrior of Sunlight from the Undead Settlement, backtrack and beat Dancer early, spend 6 hours farming 30 sunlight medals from the Lothric Knights in the Castle, and offer them all to the Sunlight Altar. Then you can beat Vordt with Great Lightning Spears, simple!
18:11 when the demon grabs you you can spam the bumpers and he’ll drop you
That’s goes for most but not all grabs
Fun fact: DS3 was my first FromSoft game and when I played it on release, Curse-Rotted Greatwood made me ragequit. Came back to FS when Elden Ring came out and I have now 100 percented their entire non-PS exclusive lineup. Dancer, on the other hand, never made me ragequit.
Yeah i didnt know cathedral existed until i reached irithyll
8:40 "Watch out for the parasites." 😂 Yeah, that's a good word for them.
The “slam” attack that Wolnir does, from what I recall, is what causes the skeletons to appear. They climb out of the ground in his arena.
When you're bored as hell but the only game you have is Dark Souls 3.
Technically, ChatGPT ain't wrong on the Curse-Rotted Greatwood.
Except on some details
I tried to ask chatgdp about the tee jump
aggelos K.
how do I do the tree jump in dark souls 3
The tree jump in Dark Souls 3 refers to a sequence of actions that allow you to reach an area that is otherwise inaccessible. Here are the steps to perform the tree jump:
Start at the Crucifixion Woods bonfire.
Make your way to the area with the three big trees and the enemies that throw rocks at you.
Go to the tree closest to the broken bridge.
Walk up to the tree and position yourself on the right-hand side of it.
Perform a running jump towards the broken bridge, but aim to land on the tree's roots that are sticking out of the ground.
If done correctly, you should land on the roots and be able to climb up onto the tree.
Once on the tree, follow the path until you reach a corpse with an item on it.
Note: The tree jump can be tricky to execute, so it may take a few attempts before you get it right. It's also important to note that performing this jump is not necessary to complete the game, but it does provide access to an item that can be helpful.
aggelos K.
i am talking about the tree jump in the fireling shrine
Ah, I see! The tree jump in Firelink Shrine is a little different than the one in Crucifixion Woods, but here's how to do it:
Go to the area of Firelink Shrine where the tree is located. You can find it to the left of the main entrance to the shrine.
Walk up to the tree and position yourself at the base of it.
Perform a kick by pressing the left stick forward and the regular attack button at the same time. This should cause the tree to shake.
Wait a few seconds for a branch to fall down to the ground.
Walk onto the branch and follow it until you reach a small platform with an item on it.
Note: This jump can also be a bit tricky to execute, as the timing for the kick can be finicky. Make sure you're positioned correctly and try a few times if you're having trouble. Also, be careful not to fall off the branch, as it can be difficult to get back onto it if you do.
aggelos K.

Gungnir: What do?
ChatGPT: Do [Luck Related Item]
Fun Fact: 2-handing anything Raw will not give any damage boosts and only give a different moveset with more stamina consumption. 2-handing only multiplies your strength by 1.5x and since enchanting something raw removes scalings from a weapon, there is no use to 2-hand that said weapon
Crystal sage sometimes gives you trouble because its RNG related in the second phase with all the magic spam
Actually , I do definitely agree that the Curse rotted greatwood is so unpredictable, you're bound to die atleast once or twice.... But bosses like dancers' moves are so well telegraphed that once you get ti know them, they are pretty easier to deal with
I LOVE the fact the ChatGPT recommended you get the Runescape Ring of Wealth
Dancer is equal to undead settlement, all the proof you need that AI does not value human life.
So it wanted an off hand morion blade with red tearstone and anri's straight sword. Could be really good glass cannon if done right
the darkness slam the the big man that likes shinys does, is summon milk drinkers, getting better with each shiny broken
Chat GPT said that the dancer had the same dificulty as running through the whole area without rest hhh
the dancer is actually of similar difficulty to the undead settlement if you don't have bones in your hands, maybe it was talking about that
ChatGPT is on point
On my first ever playthrough of the game
CURSE ROTTED GREATWOOD -4 TRIES
DANCER -3 TRIES
tbh luck actually boost your crit but its only the crit of reposts so you either need to parry or break tis shild to use counter attacks
8:30
To be fair, the tree boss has more health than the dancer (5405 hp vs 5111 hp), so yeah, technically it's harder
