This is my favorite quick yoga stretch, it really does open up the whole body and I feel warm after feeling cold in the morning

This is super nice as a pre-workout session. I like that it’s not too slow, it keeps me engaged and not sleepy as yoga usually makes me because you don’t spend too long on each stretch✨

Hey I really love this! Been doing this before my workout the past week. But I’ve run into a problem when I get to the half splits, my lower back is very rounded and I cant get it to flatten. Im fairly flexible in all other areas. Once again my lower back stays pretty rounded when i do downward dog too. Is there something I’m doing wrong? Could it just be i have a tight lower back or something?
Thanks for joining me on the mat, Grace! So that's a really common experience and good on you for being in your body and aware of the rounding back. There are a few things you can try for half splits: engage your core and focus on lengthening along your spine from crown to tailbone, use blocks to raise the floor a bit and walk them back towards your hips to find that length as opposed to keeping them static, take your time and maybe don't go quite so deep, allow your knees to bend slightly and stay soft. For downward facing dog: engage your core and focus on lengthening along your spine from crown to tailbone, keeping the knees soft and maybe even bending them may allow a bit more room, and by lifting your heels just a bit or propping them on a blanket, you may find more room for your low back - when we plant our heels and force them down, there is a rounding of the low back. Hope that helps!

This was so hard on my knee since I had surgery on it a couple years ago as I fractured it :( Can you recommend me any of your techniques to train it please? It hurts quite frequently during exercise and doctor’s have said it’ll always be this way... I’m sure stretching it daily will help build it back up though! Please let me know x
Hi Luke, thank you for joining me on the mat. I'm so sorry to hear about your experience. Since I am not a healthcare professional and am not able to see your body in motion, I do not have the best advise. In general, it's always best to back off from postures that cause pain and a physical therapist may be able to offer a more detailed plan for you. My hips are so over flexible, I had not hard time doing those exercises but my hamstrings are so tight! I can’t even do downwards facing dog
