The Navara has so much potential, but they always miss the mark. Disappointing update. Needs: - a full interior make-over - return the centre tray and vent cup holders - new/update engine to at least 500nm. (Must peak lower in the rpm. Current Nav sucks in sand). - functional storage - allow the rear seat to fold down - remote start - steering tilt and reach adjustment - 4 wheel disc brakes Maintain the rear coils. It has developed a cult following with rock crawler guys. I could go on but.... Current wheel and tyre package on Pro4x, is budget. Most enthusiast will change them out. The current all-terrain spec is merely to out do the competition on highway-terrains in magazine/video reviews.
Really like your reviews Paul. Weldone. I do however feel that to really test the hill descent control the vehicle should be in 4L as the system relies mostly on the engines compression. I see in most the reviews the vehicles just runs off in 4H. Greetings from South Africa 👋
Yeh they're all doing the same thing and charging stupid price that people.are paying. The Vw Amarok and Ford Ranger won't have any competition once the release they're new vehicle next yr, even though Toyota are bringing a v6 it wouldnt be any different than the boring crap with little to no tech in it we see today
Great review Paul. A few comments from a previous Np300 owner..... - Finally added the safety tech that should've been added 3-4 years ago. - Why the lack of options in the top-spec model! You should be able to option sunroof + heated/electronic seats on the Pro4x. Suspect Nissan decided against the sunroof option due to the added weight, which would've reduced the overall payload. - The cupholders + centre tray in the dash delete too.... why Nissan? - the 12v socket in the tray???? Where did that go? - that tailgate lid is going to get destroyed. Absolutely crazy why nissan didn't keep the plastic lid. Besides that, nissan should've retuned the motor to run 500nm. How many times did we ask for tilt & reach adjustment!?!? The steering wheel is nice (looks like Qashqai wheel) but again, why no reach adjustment. Just stupid. Hope Nissan really listens for their next iteration as this model seems like a bandaid fix rather than wanting to offer a true competitor to the ranger, dmax or hllux. A real shame Nissan.
I have to agree with you. Its just a midlife face-lift, but it feels like it needed more. I was really rooting for it, hoping it would best the competition. Nissan have said that a new navara is on the way before 2024, so hopefully that version will be a vast improvement. On a side note, I think more manufacturers need to look at the features Ford is including in the new F-150, because that tech will honestly make a vehicle class leading
Reading these comments it’s easy to see where the Commodore/Falcon clan went…the war moved over to duel cab utes. The Isuzu/Ranger/Amarok are obviously the darlings of the ‘in’ crowd, and heaven help anyone who ventures outside that mindset. Owned a 450 manual Navara from 2010 to 2019…was a brilliant piece of kit. Replaced it with the most hated ute there is (no, not another Navara…not that there was anything wrong with old one). But face it…bar the odd dog model damn near all the current utes are fit for purpose. Some can rock crawl, some mud, some good road manners, some pull better while others rev better…each depending your personality criteria. 3 of us went shopping at the same time. One came away with a 3.2 Wildtrack (good radar cruise, hideous engine noise and won’t rev at all), all in all a good drive tho. Neighbor got a Raptor, and while the ride is superb for a ute, it’s handling is wasted as like most buyers, regardless of the claims, use it as a every day vehicle. The gearbox is annoying, and the engine is forever revving to do anything. Me, I ended up with a X350. Yup it’s a Navara jn drag, hasn’t the active safety of the Ford, but def is newer inside than the Amarok I compared it with. As I said…probably the most hated ute on the market…..but most beyond mullet wearing lads holding up the bar, will admit 99% of this ks brand loyalty and not much more
I definitely have different opinions to looks than most people nowdays as I think the chrome of the STX looks much nicer than the black and I would happily pay less for the chrome. Years ago, black was the standard and chrome was the fancy models that you paid more for. I guess times have certainly changed.
Well done bringing us great reviews Paul. When a competitor is way ahead of this Navara the price needs to reflect that. Not sure this is value. I think car makers need a dedicated place for the manual so the glove box can be used for whatever else.
Here in South Africa the 2.3 single turbo and 2.3 twinturbo engines is going to be replaced with a 2.5 single turbo engine with the same power outputs. (120kw & 403nm and 140kw & 450nm).
@@CarExpertAus the "new" navara is going to be on sale here in South Africa in a few weeks time. It is also going to be manufactured here. There will also be a single cab workhorse with a petrol engine
Nice. In SA we get the 2.5 single turbo instead of 2.3 TT (same kw and nm) + we get electric driver seat. Our hill secent control system works much better, but we dont get the ride mode selector.
Sigh. I'm in the market for a new daily driver for hauling the mountain bikes as well as all the family kit. Every ute just fails to tick all the boxes. From a looks and some of the specs perspective this had potential. But de-speccing over the stx and all utes still being pov pack in comparison to sub 40k hatches is so frustrating.
This version should have included (at least) better ground clearance, lifted suspension . I own a 2019 Navara and I do not see any mechanical improvements to the mechanics. It should have included a new engine with 500+ nm and better interior like the ones Nissan is releasing their new SUV

Thanks again Paul - just too many feature omissions to justify $60k especially against the value Isuzu DMAX - tailgate protection is a given for the tradies - dual turbo not ideal as like the Ranger you will have double the cost for twin turbo repair/maintenance despite Nissan’s approach for a smaller engine to target emission levels and consequently fuel costs - yes those pesky cup holder omissions which is why I love the dash mounted ones on my 2010 Hilux - it takes coffee/water bottles perfectly - do love the absence of bling chrome👍🏻 John in SA
The heated seats and electric adjustable driver seat must of been added for 2023 model my dad had the Pro4x stealth grey and it's got all that but doesn't have the sunroof

Great review as always. Good to see your subscribers are growing. You should have way more given the reviews. As to the Nissan, seems like a lot of money for outdated technology, underpowered power plant and overall proposition.
Great pity that we in the UK are apparently not going to get this model. No model at all soon it seems, because the Spanish Navara factory is soon to close and they say that the Navara is to be permanently withdrawn from Europe. This despite it selling by the thousands in the UK. Maybe not so great sales in the rest of Europe? Also the Mercedes variant, built on the same production line, bombed and was withdrawn after only a couple of years on sale. Maybe if they didn't stamp so very many holes in the chassis that allows corrosive road and off-road mud and salt into the box sections it could maybe get a better quality feel. I mean, quality doesn't come from only in-cabin materials and design but true quality encompasses engineering. Just one look at the flimsy chassis around the rear wheel arches is enough to put many prospective customers, who know the Navara's reputation, completely off. It would be simple and cost saving just not to stamp those holes and to better paint the chassis with some zinc primer. Building in premature obsolescence is and was a very short sighted strategy. It already cost Nissan many millions to replace Navara chassis or buy back badly corroded vehicles and ones with snapped chassis in the UK alone.
@@CarExpertAus I really hope so and really hope that they will address the terrible holes in the chassis, which you must have seen because it looks like Swiss cheese on the inner side of those rear wheels. Whether we get an Argentinian [or is it South African?] or Thai built vehicle will also be interesting. All European ones until now came from the Spanish factory fitted with Renault/Nissan Diesel engines.
I got mine last June 1. After less than 1000 kms of driving, I encountered problems in wheel alignment, the vehicle was veering to the right. This defect is very unusual for a brand new vehicle. I went back to my dealer to report the defect, their service staff conducted a test drive and confirmed the defect. It more than 3 times of going in and out of the service shop to have defect repaired. While it’s okay now, i still feel very disappointed having a brand vehicle with a wheel alignment defect.
Ordered the pro4x with the 1% interest deal with Nissan - that pulls the weekly payment to way under the equivalent Utes of its class - Nissan now includes heated seats and electric for the driver. Exterior probably the best looking out of the lot for me but Interior still disappointing but the majority of things people whinge about are easily upgraded after market - eg. bigger tyres, suspension lift, the black plastic protection thing for the tailgate costs $70 - you can easily go buy a wireless dongle for CarPlay and tuck it away. is it really worth crying about? Yes the top spec Utes are expensive but so we have hyperinflation in Oz - so a basket of goods in 2010 has risen 40% now. That means a 60k car was like 36k back then. If you want to see a real rip off go check out Sydney house prices.
I'm over Navara. Will not buy one again. They are now built in South Africa (home soil) but very disappointing deal breaker is the return to the YD 25 engine. According to my knowledge, it's a step or 3 backwards into the past. And, yes, the dash could be more soft touch.
Hi Sir favor if you have actual experience on your Navara whereas it fully stopped when you encountered a pedestrian using Nissan Intelligent Emergency braking? And also to ask if you can use the 360 Camera while driving less than 20km? Thank you 😊 🙏

Nissan should have invested more on better all terrain tires, better interior, over those tech stuff like lane change alert or whatever …. Excellent review though Paul
I have said before- the Leader of Nissan must be an ex- bureaucrat - got no vision just goes back in circle and calls it new! With pricing similar to a D-Max with same power and torque I would buy a D max every time as it has more tech and sophistication. The only difference is heated seats which the D max strangely missed out on.
Wondering why we didn't get the US "Frontier" as the real replacement of the Navara... this one it looks okay, but is def a basic facelift, and I think Nissa missed huge opportunity! Come on Nissan, it seems you are waking up only in America, with the new utes, X-Trail and new Pathfinder there...what about the rest of the world?

Its when you see this at 60K and see the GWM Cannon X ute for 41K driveaway and what the differences are - China will be making leaps and bounds in a few years.
What is the model below this one you are talking about? Would like to look into that one thank you!
SLIPPERY AF - hahaha legend
I thought i heard that.
😅
Scrolled to the comments to confirm what I heard haha
Nissan should have invested more on better all terrain tires, better interior, over those tech stuff like lane change alert or whatever …. Excellent review though Paul
waiting for the 2023 or 2024 review
Basically they took infinity model technology and put on the 2021 Navara. they just forgot to adopt the 3.5 litre v6 VQ Engine and install bi Turbos.
Steering wheels on the wrong side I havnt seen one of them in the USA
This will need to come india love from India Nissan
Why do they still use rear drum brakes ?
The tub does not have a closing shutter
They don’t sell them in Uk any more I think.
Whats the Doug Score ?
The fact it is top of the range but has less options than the model below is really strange. That was enough to put me off. I'm getting a DMAX.
Be nice when the pro 4x warrior is released this year
Does the Nissan Navara Pro x4 manual.
Plz do a FORD RANGER THUNDER OR WILDTRAK
What’s the wading depth?
Much improved Navara...can you check comments under CRV...left last week
undercoat grey ,,,, so when do you get the top coat paint done ? and whats with the little wheels ?$60k and its so hard inside , great wall?
can i ask does anyone know how it competes with the ranger?
I like nissan but unfortunately like other brands it's only cosmetic.
Next time for hill descent put in 4X4 low, and put in the lower gear. You will crawl down that hill
Paul! Paul! Listen! Please do a Mustang GT review. Thank you.
It's a STX with a sticker pack. The warrior has to have actual features.
Does this Nissan Navara Pro-4X use rear disc brake?
Drum brakes.
Waiting 4 the review on isuzu mux
Very anxious
August 6th :-)
Wish you would measure and report on interior cabin noise or a variety of terrains.
