Great & fair review most people focus on the so called downsides of the frontier & ignores the great things about it i.e. hydraulic power steering giving feedback & feeling planted as a drawback or ignoring the mercedes transmission licensed to nissan or zero gravity seats for long trips thanks for a good honest review on a great honest midsize truck that balances old school & new school
It's truly ugly, they need to put the hot glue gun down. I didn't see anything about the refreshed 25 that looked must have so I went out and got 8 grand off a 2024 pro4x. Right now is a great time to buy the remaining 2024's.

There is only one 2025 on the lot at a dealer near me and it has every option checked. I'm not buying a midsize truck for $50k, somebody else can.

Great review. Nissan is killing it with the Frontier. No fancy turbos that other trucks have optioned for better fuel economy. They are costly to maintain and repair.
This truck, with this engine, and a 6 speed manual... would be exquisite. But instead we get the Jatco 9 speed. And that is the reason that i am selling mine.
@mrstevemassa mine shifts erratically, overevs by 500-1000 rpms and slams into gear between certain gears on downshifts. Shudders a bit under load. Shifts sloppy with a horrid delay in "manual mode" this is an early model, 2020, less than 10k miles total. Niisan dealership chocks it up as normal behavior. So it's normally a pschizophrenic. My rental SV 4x4 '21 did not exhibit this behavior. Small sample size. But there seems to be a batch of the early trans that did this. Nissan corp weasels outta the warranty until expiration. Then they admit that your trans is F%%%%. The replacement charge seems to be around 9k$. Little aftermarket support that i have found. This may change with the jatco9er going in the Z. I'm probably just one of a few that has issues. But it's enough to make a man shun Nissan. I bought the truck for reliability and warranty. And without those, hell, why not buy something cool. Like a fronty with a 4.0 and 6 speed stick shift. Or a 6.2L SVT F150. Otherwise i like the truck. Quick for what it is. Fantastic engine. Simple. That's been my experience. Your's may vary.
Well, update, if anybody cares, my shifting got worse, over the course of a week. Nissan dealer dug into it, software all good, noted the erratic shifting, signed off on it. couple days later, upon decel onto a freeway exit ramp, it downshifted into 4th with a loud BANG that shook the entire truck. I resolved to sell it. But... since then, perfect shifts. Like, flawless. Shifts butter smooth when cruising, and like a dragster at WOT. Even "manual mode" is responsive now. So, i dunno. It fixed itself. So I am keeping it.
@jasonzrx12 very interesting. Keep us updated if things change. I'm seriously considering this truck and I'm trying to discover the important downsides and a troublesome tranny is a major downside, lol!
Your average buyer is not going to do that. Voiding the warranty first off, second the cost, third it will completely change the driving dinamic with that massive v8 in the front.
The price point this is at, and you still get a V6 unlike some of the rest, it’s still something to be noteworthy of. You can definitely modify a V6 and make it sound god unlike a 4 cylinder. I’ve seen people do it with the old Tacoma.
Frontier is the new Tacoma, it had a major glow up. Nissan is coming after Toyotas lunch, their Evs are better, their economy cars are better, Nissan as a whole is probably my new favorite Japanese brand
Did you really just say that the Frontier is the new Tacoma?? Come on….you say this because Nissan kept the V6?? That would be the only thing that is good with the Frontier. Still has a non power sliding rear window, no electronic parking brake, no ventilated seats, no crawl control, a camera that has the resolution from the 1950’s, still doesn’t have the clearance that the Tacoma has….am I missing something with your comment?
@jeanclaude7018 couldn’t agree more about a “Truck” that does the job. The Tacoma has no problems doing truck stuff while providing newer technology. I mean that’s the whole point of a new model right, things are upgraded?? Those upgrades don’t take away from a truck being a truck..lol
@ as I said, I have none of those issues. As for the transmission, just like the media, way over hyped, that’s been taken care of already. It’s funny that you mention the gimmicks, yet Nissan added a larger screen, three fake nose vents on the hood to try and compete with all the other trucks including the Canyon’s. And as for the bump stops, anyone doing any heavy off roading has a chance to break anything. I’ve seen Jeeps go down, Fords, GMC’s…I mean come on. The shocks in the seats are in the TRD Pros not in my TRD OR. Nissan doesn’t have anything to compete with the Pro, so no reason to bring that up. And yes, the power tailgate and steering can go bad…so can a spark plug…anything power or electrical can go bad on any vehicle…again, don’t really think that’s a deal breaker for most people. And yet with all that said, the Tacoma will continue to out sell the Frontier by 20 to 1. No real reason to continue this conversation, if you buy a Tacoma - enjoy it, if you buy a Frontier - enjoy it. Variety is a good thing.

had the 2022 Frontier regret selling it and getting out of a note but now that they have the 6ft bed optional with nicer trim models i may have to get myself one again
Love the Frontier, I do think Nissan has taken some steps back in certain areas though. For example, wish they would of updated the key to the new one the Pathfinder is currently using. Speaking of Pathfinder, wish it also had the automatic lock/unlock feature the Pathfinder has as well when you walk up to it or away. LOVE that feature on my Pathfinder! The other issue I noticed that new bigger infotainment screen doesn't seem very well optimized for the size and the fact the camera resolution isn't great is another big downer. I think the cameras on the Pathfinder are great and it's a shame they took shortcuts on this truck. On a different note, I LOVE that they kept it truck like with physical knobs and buttons which is my favorite thing about Nissan
In the Gulf, the Navara has been discontinued. Why doesn’t it come like the United States of America? This only comes out to you. As for us, Nissan has discontinued even its younger sister, the Navara, and we don’t know the reason. The interest is only in the American market.
Nissan is so stupid for not giving the king cab pro4x to the USA like the rest of the world wake up Nissan and give us the option for people that want it
The air ball is exactly why I want one. New rangers run almost everything through a single screen. What happens when the screen goes down? You have no functions.
Great presentation. I read some of the comments. It seems that most comments are people complaining about the size, back seats, and technology. So, my question is, what's more important? Old school engine and transmission? Or, 4 in-line, turbo, electric trans, and pricey? I still have my 1992 Nissan King Cab pickup. I don't need Google maps to get around. I used real maps. Lol. My point is that you can always get what you want. I would rather stick with Nissan. They are more reliable. I'm referring truck wise. My opinion.
Yeah, that old V6 engine is pretty reliable. It aint fancy, but it gets the job done. Certainly better than a 4 cylinder turbo that everyone has been doing.
Man if anybody wants to complain about interior space, they should look at the tacoma turd pro and trailblocker. Once those things blow up on the trail they gonna be limited for space sitting and waiting for the next guy to tow them out. There's literally only 3 inches of room in the back with those gimmicky air ride seats.
i prefer the look of my 2024 front fascia and interior. frontier lettering on the dash is gaudy and the increased screen size is big for nothing as the experience from the smaller screen doesn't seem and different, there's just always an empty space now.
My 23 Pro4X luxury version the screen is 9 inches not 8. The Pro4X rides smoother because of the Beilstein’s The other V6 normally aspirated is the jeep gladiator.
Is the Nissan Frontier available without the console ? I would rather have a bench seat with a center piece that could be flipped down like in the Silverados ! Also if I want the 6ft bed does it make the back seat smaller ?
Good review guys, but I heard you say the seats were '"leatherette" and think they are leather. Nissan mentioned "synthetic leather" on some surfaces (Door panels, armrest, etc.) and leather on steering wheel and seats. Can you confirm the seats to be leather?
Analog gauges? NA V6? Manual parking brake? Physical Knobs? Oh my god Nissan you are the saving grace of people who care about quality and rugged design. Please don’t cave on these designs and cheapen the experience! Also I hope they make an XTerra, it’s just painful that Nissan is sinking in sales…
Normally I'd agree. But in this case, the Pro4x is the best-selling version of the Frontier. So this review will be the most useful to the majority of Frontier buyers.
Unpopular opinion... the old 9" touchscreen was way better. This new touchscreen, while bigger, essentially replaced the large single display of the 9" touchscreen with two small screens. It's harder to see, the buttons are smaller, it's harder to use, the backup camera is smaller... Size for the sake of size is meaningless if it doesn't actually accomplish anything meaningful or useful
The screen size is good but very limited function, wish we could use full screen for CarPlay and camera. this is a big deal and sadly not impressive, everything else is a A+
No rear a/c vents!? :( They lose alot of family buyers off that feature alone. Only the Ridgeline has them unfortunately. Not even the new Ford Ranger has them.
I'm sure it's a great truck but the styling looks 10 years old. If they gave it a real refresh and kept the v6 they would capture a lot more market share.

Well hell yeah I rather buy that than the new Tacoma 2.4 liter turbo. Even better that frontier is manual.👌
Is it perfect? No. Is it miles better than it used to be? Absolutely! Excellent review!😸
@jeanclaude7018the brains of 70% of truck buyers. That's the only thing missing. Otherwise these trucks would be number 1 in sales.
I live in Arizona. The LAST thing I need in my Frontier is a heated steering wheel! 😂
I've had a Tacoma for almost 18 years. It looks like my next truck will be a Frontier.
Nice truck
i love my 24 pro 4x
Great looking truck! 🛻
In the Gulf, the Navara has been discontinued. Why doesn’t it come like the United States of America? This only comes out to you. As for us, Nissan has discontinued even its younger sister, the Navara, and we don’t know the reason. The interest is only in the American market.
Nissan is so stupid for not giving the king cab pro4x to the USA like the rest of the world wake up Nissan and give us the option for people that want it
Wow - looks like Nissan is regaining its lost glory 👌🏽
V6 baby.
Thanks!
Only things I want for the Frontier:
Rear window defrost.
That little bed window being powered other than manual
Had two hardbody’s Nissans for midsize are really hard to beat
Don't understand why they don't upgrade the rear camera resolution?
Wish they would make a manual transmission one!
A 10-year-old Frontier SV with 120,000 miles is worth substantially more than 9K now.
Nissan missing out big not bringing back the Xterra with this platform, guess they hate being rich.
As a current Xterra owner, I agree 100%!
Xterra would sell like hot cakes
There are rumors of a 2025 Frontier PRO-4X NISMO in Japan.
There is a DATSUN logo on the tailgate.
Would be nice if it came in a manual though.
Aren't you people sick of saying yeah it'd be nice dude if it had a a stick dude it's old news man
i prefer the look of my 2024 front fascia and interior. frontier lettering on the dash is gaudy and the increased screen size is big for nothing as the experience from the smaller screen doesn't seem and different, there's just always an empty space now.
I like the body color breaking up the upper and lower grills on my 24
What are the payload numbers?
If I were wanting to buy a truck, it'd be the Nissan over the others.
RUclips needs to create an adults only comment section.
If only that would be enough.. then again, maybe there should be an IQ test to determine which section people would be placed in...
Good review guys, but I heard you say the seats were '"leatherette" and think they are leather. Nissan mentioned "synthetic leather" on some surfaces (Door panels, armrest, etc.) and leather on steering wheel and seats. Can you confirm the seats to be leather?
Maybe I missed it but what's the payload and tow rating? Critical info when truck and suv shopping.
They should have done this similar interior for the 2024 nissan titan😑😑 this interior looks better
I love my 23 king cab s model.
I have the 2022 pro 4x. Enjoying it.
I still drive my 1999 frontier as my daily
Who would of thought the frontier is one of the last v6 engines out there
What’s the point of the bigger screen if they are not going to use all of it…
Probably nothing a reviewer can do, but I wish it wasn't always the most expensive trim level being tested.
Normally I'd agree. But in this case, the Pro4x is the best-selling version of the Frontier. So this review will be the most useful to the majority of Frontier buyers.
Great offer but when will Nissan upgrade those 360P back up cam? This isn't much better then my 19 lol.
Great truck but glad i have the 24. It would piss me off I if I had such a big screen and half of it doesn't work half the time!!!
How much torque (in ftlbs)?
I just want to see how it heandles when run hard in mud and snow
Unpopular opinion... the old 9" touchscreen was way better. This new touchscreen, while bigger, essentially replaced the large single display of the 9" touchscreen with two small screens. It's harder to see, the buttons are smaller, it's harder to use, the backup camera is smaller...
Size for the sake of size is meaningless if it doesn't actually accomplish anything meaningful or useful
Not totally correct, apple play uses the whole screen
@@jonalanm1540 fair enough!
Resale predictions seem a little low. Hard to imagine purchasing a pro 4x with 100k in 2035 for only 8-9k.
The new ranger have the available 2.7 ecoboost motor now. Still a p.o.s., but available. Love the nissan though.
The screen size is good but very limited function, wish we could use full screen for CarPlay and camera. this is a big deal and sadly not impressive, everything else is a A+
Lacks ventilation seats, and front locking differential.
That blue is awesome. This or the Tacoma?
Why did the mpg go down from 2024 to 2025? The engines and transmissions are the same, I thought.
The EPA sometimes makes small corrections even when the powertrain hasn't changed
@ oh well. On to looking at a different brand. I’m not buying a tiny truck like this for 16 mpg. This makes my Tacoma seem amazing.
Nice truck but even the base model is $52,000 in Canada! To my mind that is still too expensive particularly for a gas model!
Looks retro inside
$50k for a midsized truck. I dont care if it's cheaper compared to others it's still insane
You buy a new Tacoma to impress, you buy a new Frontier to get work done.
When will the 2025’s hit the dealer lots B ?
They're on sale now
Gladiator is a NA V6!
Nissan is like a Volkswagen very few people like buying junk.
I have a New Frontier it is NOT a TRUE 5 ft. bed.
It is 59 inches, 1 inch short of true 5 ft. why wouldn't they make it a TRUE 5ft. BED ??
Thank you for the Android Auto display I'm so tired of apple car play when I watch videos🙏🏿
the ranger offers a v6 now as well
I said standard V-6
2.7v6Turbo.
No thank uou!!@CarConfections
No rear a/c vents!? :( They lose alot of family buyers off that feature alone. Only the Ridgeline has them unfortunately. Not even the new Ford Ranger has them.
The 22 through 25 have vents for the rear located under the front seats.
Need to ask Mark Canadian first!
I'm sure it's a great truck but the styling looks 10 years old. If they gave it a real refresh and kept the v6 they would capture a lot more market share.
It looks great
Why did they make the screen so long if at least a third of it is not being used it looks stupid.
